Season two, chapter fifty-seven
"Because I want her;
Now, here, everywhere"
THEA FOLDED HER arms and watched as the man in front of her displayed a strong sense of superiority upon realizing his power. Jeok-bong stood casually by the boxing ring, occasionally touching his nose as though it held immense value to him. At the same time, Ms. Chu and Mun appeared to constantly shower him with praise.
"Jeok-bong discovered his power" Mun expressed his pride as Jeok-bong revealed his exceptional powers "He could be our only hope in locating the evil spirits who avoid the territory"
"You got that special power after smelling cow dung all your life?" Jangmul jokingly inquired. They were astounded as they had never come across such a capability before "I've never heard of such a power before"
Thea had to acknowledge that Jeok-bong's power was as distinctive as Mun's, yet the abilities of the others were equally remarkable, without a doubt.
"So you gained the power since your nose got bushed, right?" Mo-tak inquired once more to confirm that he understood correctly what Jeok-bong and Hana had shared upon their return from an unforeseen encounter with an evil spirit
Thea had observed a change in Hana's demeanor after she came back from the unexpected encounter. Being familiar with Hana's personality, Thea could sense when something was troubling her. However, this time, there was a distinct sparkle in her eyes, indicating that something had occurred which brought both joy and nostalgia. And Thea had a notion about the incident that had affected Hana.
"Yes" Jeok-bong nodded eagerly, wearing a confident grin on his face
"You're incredible, Jeok-bong. You found the evil spirit without the territory" Ms. Chu commended Jeok-bong, recognizing his exceptional skills
"I didn't do anything special. How should I put it? I didn't need to try, so it's like an innate talent. Gosh, I'm blushing" Jeok-bong declared, showcasing a slight air of superiority as he concealed his face in shame
"You still have a long way to go. You can't even pinpoint the origin of the smell" Hana exclaimed, she playfully sat down on a wooden chair near the table, displaying a mischievous grin on her flushed lips
"Jeok-bong. Can you even tell the smell apart from cow dung?" inquired Thea with curiosity, leading to Jeok-bong's facial expression disappearing entirely. He promptly crossed his legs and directed his gaze towards Thea simultaneously
"I think you've yet to understand this innate gift of mine. I don't throw up just because I smell dung. In that case, I would've thrown up my entire life" Jeok-bong clarified, confidently using hand gestures to emphasize his point, which Thea could clearly observe
"Hey, that actually makes sense. You have a blessed nose. You do" praised Ms. Chu, further boosting Jeok-bong's sense of self-importance
"Anyway, I did catch the evil spirit, thanks to you, so well done" Hana expressed her appreciation complimenting him on his success, evident from the slight grateful smile on her red lips
"I always knew" Mun started to say, softly holding onto his shoulder with a forced smile that Thea could easily detect as insincere "You were our ace in the hole. Don't you get that vibe from him?" Mun inquired, searching for affirmation from the rest of the team
"You sure have a good eye" Jeok-bong playfully hit him, expressing admiration for his keen observation skills
"This is so fascinating" Ms. Chu unknowingly continued to admire and uplift Jeok-bong
"Tell me about it. Be careful with my nose" Jeok-bong cautioned about his nose as he gently touched the pore strip that was stuck to his nose with care
"Goodness" Thea displayed clear amusement, as evident from the gentle expressions on her face, shaking her head in disbelief
Thea put on a white blouse with extended sleeves, so long that it looked like a dress and exposed her slim legs. She was getting ready to rest and unwind after a hectic period. However, as she was about to lie down on her cozy bed, her rest was disturbed by a knock at the door.
"Come in," Thea greeted warmly, smiling, as her boyfriend arrived at the entrance, dressed comfortably in pajamas. "Good evening, my dear. What brings you here tonight?"
"I wanted to invite you to my bedroom, but since it's shared, I decided to come to your room for more privacy," the boy clarified as he softly closed the white door behind him, being careful not to disturb the others who were lightly dreaming
"Oh, I see. What do you need privacy for?" Thea playfully grinned, noting how her boyfriend slowly approached her, as though preparing to pursue his target
"I don't know, why don't you enlighten me." Mun replied casually, moving closer to where Thea was standing. Thea's legs trembled just as Mun's tender yet strong hands touched her waist "Are you feeling tense? Is everything alright?" He could feel the intense emotions consuming his beloved girlfriend with each passing second. With a smug expression on his face, he possessed such an intimate understanding of her that he could sense her anxiety, even when she concealed it. Witnessing her in such a state brought him immense joy and affection.
"Everything is perfectly fine, what about you, Romeo?" Thea changed her position and hugged Mun, feeling his sudden unease as his heartbeat accelerated
Thea cocked her head to the side, maintaining the mischievous smile on her face, and Mun felt his sanity slipping away due to her seemingly innocent expression. Holding back a chuckle, Thea gently bit her lower lip and observed that Mun's grip on her waist grew more eager, as if he expected her next action.
However, despite not getting any response in return, he decided to take the initiative. Thea was surprised when she noticed the boy's attempts to persuade her to go back to bed. Understanding that her boyfriend had ulterior motives, she quickly changed places with him and had Mun sit on the bed instead, which left him undeniably shocked but confused. Thea then unexpectedly positioned herself with confidence on his lap.
As events progressed quickly, Mun found himself in a perplexing predicament, completely unaware of what had happened. Unexpectedly, they were suddenly in a close and personal position. The surprising boldness of Thea caught him off guard, and his heart raced with excitement as their eyes met.
Thea gently reached out her hands towards his flowing, curly hair. With pure delight, he closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of Thea's fingertips gently stroking the curls on his head.
"You've experienced significant stress, haven't you?" Thea acknowledged to herself, shifting her hands from Mun's hair to his shoulders, which quickly became tense. "You don't need to feign being with me."
Mun experienced a moment of intense admiration and love for a particular aspect of her, causing his heart to momentarily stop. He displayed a sorrowful smile and looked downwards, resembling a guilty child who had been caught in the act.
"Hey, it's okay," Thea assured, gently cupping her boyfriend's face making him look her in the eyes "Everything will be okay" She smiled softly, brushing her thumb against his soft cheek
"But it's not only that which causes me stress," Mun confessed, observing Thea's puzzled expression, before gently resting his hand on hers. "What further stresses me is not being able to spend as much time with you as I used to. I want to apologize for that, as it may have made you realize that I am not the ideal boyfriend and that SuHo might've been a better choice..." He rushed to explain, finally releasing all the pent-up emotions he had been carrying for a while
However, his words lost their impact as Thea's tender and full lips gently touched his in a brief yet significant embrace.
"You don't need to worry about it, we will have opportunities in the future like we have now to compensate for lost time," Thea said kindly, observing tears glisten in Mun's eyes. "You are and will always be the ideal partner, so don't suggest that SuHo was a better choice for me when it was undoubtedly you who made me fall in love with you."
Upon hearing Thea's words, Mun chuckled softly in amusement.
"Hey, from my understanding, it was you who captivated me with your enticing and risky allure," Mun replied, sniffing his nose before gazing admiringly into Thea's brown eyes
"I still believe that you were at fault" Thea nonchalantly shrugged, observing Mun's gaze as it shifted towards her plump and rosy lips, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to kiss her "As for compensating for the time that has passed... what do you think about rectifying it at this moment?"
Mun wasted little time as he raised his head to meet Thea's lips, resulting in her gently shutting her eyes. Once more, the pair became fully absorbed in their passionate kisses. Thea experienced a rush of contentment as Mun's hands shifted from her bare legs to the area around her waist concealed underneath her white shirt. With tenderness, her boyfriend's fingers lovingly caressed the silky skin on her back.
The situation was quite entertaining as Thea recalls Mun's nervousness and blushing whenever she held his hand or surprised him with a kiss in the early days of their relationship. Presently, it is Mun who confidently takes charge of things, similar to how Thea used to, and she cannot deny her affection for this newfound aspect of his personality.
Thea was on the brink of losing command, not only over herself but also Mun. They were both captivated by the passionate nature of the kiss, completely engrossed in their own contemplations. Thea willingly granted her boyfriend permission to enter her mouth with his tongue, showing enthusiasm as he explored the area and playfully engaged in a tongue duel with Thea while Mun's hands moved towards undoing her bra, sending a delightful shudder down her back as, with her consent, the bra slid down to her waist.
Neither of them showed any remorse for their current actions, indicating that they were familiar with this kind of behavior. Nonetheless, it cannot be assumed that this was their initial encounter with such activities.
Mo-tak entered the room, wearing an anxious look on his face, and disdainfully inspecting the labels on a pair of small cardboard boxes he held in his hands. Simultaneously, Thea was completing the task of washing the last few dishes. The weather outside was beautiful, and Thea had intentions of taking a leisurely walk or purchasing a gift for her boyfriend, as long as there were no evil spirits present to ruin her plans.
"I can't believe Jeok-bong. Look at this" Mo-tak exclaimed, disapprovingly showing the cardboard boxes in his hands
"What's that?" Thea asked, drying her wet hands with a small cloth that Mun had given her seconds ago
"Pore strips. Hey, you little punk. You just bought some but you got—"
"They're here? You can put them over there" Jeok-bong replied, with both hands concealed behind his back, as he walked past him without paying much attention
Thea shook her head, realizing that it was not enjoyable as he had been behaving in such a manner for quite some time. He had been behaving arrogantly towards others due to his recently acquired power, and Thea no longer approved of this behavior.
"What? You little..." Mo-tak exclaimed under his breath as he placed the boxes on the table, just as Jeok-bong had instructed him, although Thea could still perceive the intense gaze of Mo-tak closely observing every move Jeok-bong made
"By the way, what's this smell?" Jeok-bong asked, deeply breathing in the air with pleasure, his nostrils expanding as he relished the pleasant aroma of the food
"Ms. Chu is making soybean paste stew, your favorite" Mun replied with a pleasant expression, seemingly having put the previous incident at the restaurant behind them
"Goodness! It's best not to stimulate my nose on a daily basis" Jeok-bong expressed with a look of repulsion on his face. Thea sighed in annoyance while Mun feigned throwing the spoon he was holding "Look. Let me tell you something about the nose. It can easily become dull to smells. If you want it to be effective in critical situations—"
"Enough with the nonsense" Mo-tak interrupted with crossed arms, his deep eyes piercing Jeok-bong like blades
"Jeok-bong" Hana uttered as she brought several spoon containers to the table in order to grab his focus"Let's set the table" She calmly proposed, evidently irritated by Jeok-bong's conduct
"Hana. We'll leave you to it" Jangmul expressed his agreement with a nod and chuckled, as Jeok-bong nervously cleared his throat and moved towards the table where Hana was patiently waiting for him. Nonetheless, he unexpectedly began yelling loudly
"What is it this time?"Mo-tak inquired wearily, emitting a profound exhale. The prevailing atmosphere amongst the individuals present was not conducive to entertaining Jeok-bong's comedic banter
"It stinks" Jeok-bong responded, as he shielded his nose with both hands, his facial expression contorted in discomfort, indicating that the smell was unpleasant
"What?" Mun asked, confused. Thea, on the other hand, tilted her head, conveying her refusal to mimic such an unusual ability, especially if it would result in discomforting her nose due to strong odors
"It reeks!" Jeok-bong shouted, his voice breaking, as he hastily took his hand away from his nose and promptly took off the pore strip in a single swift motion"There's an evil spirit!" He cried out, once more shielding his sensitive nose
The commencement of all chaos was just starting...
