EXTRA #3
One-shots, chapter ninety-one
"This was not part of the plan,"
Thea tapped her fingers against the steering wheel in rhythm with the music blasting through the car's speakers, her smile wide and carefree. Mun sat beside her, one arm resting on the open window and the other tapping his knee, both of them completely absorbed in their favorite movie soundtracks playing from her phone. The sun was high, casting a warm glow through the car windows as they cruised down the highway on their way to the beach. It had been years since either of them had been, and they were both buzzing with excitement.
"I still think the soundtrack from Interstellar is the best one ever made," Mun said, leaning back in his seat, his voice loud over the music.
Thea laughed, shaking her head. "You say that about every movie score, Mun."
He grinned, shrugging. "Well, I'm a man of many favorites."
Thea glanced at him, her eyes sparkling with affection. "You're such a nerd."
"I prefer 'movie enthusiast,'" Mun corrected, leaning over to flick a strand of hair away from her face. "And you love it."
"True," Thea admitted with a soft smile, turning her attention back to the road. "But only because you make the best movie night snacks."
Mun chuckled, relaxing into his seat again, his hand moving to rest lightly on her thigh. "I'll take that."
The road stretched out before them, the coastline still a few hours away, but neither of them was in any rush. It wasn't just about getting to the beach—it was about the journey, spending time together, away from everything else. Thea loved how easy it was to talk to Mun during these long drives. He had a way of turning any mundane moment into something fun, something special.
"So, what's the first thing we're doing when we get there?" Mun asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
Thea pretended to think, tapping her chin dramatically. "Hmm, well... First, we get ice cream, obviously. Then I'm dragging you into the water."
"Bold of you to assume I won't throw you in first," Mun teased, his voice filled with challenge.
She glanced at him with a smirk. "You wouldn't dare."
"Oh, I definitely would," he said, laughing as he leaned over to kiss her cheek. "But seriously, I can't wait. It's been so long since we've gone to the beach together."
"I know," Thea agreed, a soft smile spreading across her lips. "I used to go all the time when I was younger, but then my parents passed away. I didn't realize how much I missed it until we planned this trip."
Mun looked out the window, the passing trees and hills blurring into the background. "Same here. I think the last time I went was before my parents passed away too. I'm just glad we're doing this. Feels like a mini escape."
Thea nodded, feeling a sense of nostalgia wash over her. "Yeah... it's gonna be special. Just the two of us, no distractions, nothing to worry about."
Mun squeezed her thigh gently, his voice soft and sincere. "It already feels special, just being with you."
Thea's heart warmed at his words. She glanced over at him, her smile softening as she reached over to entwine her fingers with his. "You're such a sap," she teased, though her voice was full of affection.
"And you love that too," Mun shot back, squeezing her hand.
"I do," she whispered, her thumb brushing against his. "I really do."
They settled into a comfortable silence after that, the hum of the car and the gentle thrum of the music filling the space between them. Thea loved moments like these, where words weren't necessary because being together was enough. Mun had a way of making everything feel effortless, like they were exactly where they were meant to be.
After a while, Mun reached over to the radio, switching up the playlist. "Alright, I'm calling it—Disney soundtracks time."
Thea groaned dramatically, though a grin was already spreading across her face. "You and your Disney obsession..."
"You act like you're not gonna sing along," Mun teased, raising an eyebrow.
As the opening notes of A Whole New World started to play, Thea rolled her eyes but couldn't stop herself from joining in. Mun was right—she was going to sing along. They belted out the lyrics, laughing at how ridiculous they sounded, but not caring one bit. It was moments like these that made her fall for him all over again.
After a few more Disney duets, Mun leaned back in his seat, catching his breath. "Okay, I'm officially out of vocal stamina."
Thea giggled, shaking her head. "That's what happens when you go all out on Let It Go."
Mun gave her a mock-serious look. "Hey, some songs require full commitment."
They both laughed, and as the sound of the waves grew closer, Thea felt her excitement building. She hadn't realized how much she needed this trip—just the two of them, away from the world, driving toward something that felt carefree and special. It was the first time in years that she felt this light, and she could tell Mun felt the same.
"We're almost there," Thea said, glancing at the GPS as the miles to the beach slowly ticked down.
Mun smiled, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "Ready to make some new memories, Sweetheart?"
Thea grinned, nodding as she turned to him. "With you? Always."
And with that, they continued their drive, the promise of sun, sand, and a perfect day together waiting just beyond the horizon.
As soon as Thea and Mun arrived at the beach, the sun was just beginning to dip toward the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the sand and the gentle waves. They had been looking forward to this day for weeks, and the excitement was evident on both their faces as they rushed toward the shoreline, beach bags in tow.
When Thea pulled off her cover-up to reveal her swimsuit, Mun froze for a moment. It wasn't just any swimsuit—this was the first time she had worn something so daring, a deep-cut, one-piece that showed off her curves in a way that left him speechless. It was striking, bold, and completely unexpected. Thea, on the other hand, felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, glancing at Mun for a reaction. She had never worn anything like this around him before.
Mun's eyes widened, a playful smirk tugging at his lips as he walked up to her. "Wow," he said, trying to sound casual but failing. "You look... amazing."
Thea blushed, her heart racing. "It's a bit much, right?" she asked, half-joking as she tugged at the straps nervously.
Mun shook his head, stepping closer and brushing a strand of hair from her face. "No, you look perfect."
Feeling more confident under his gaze, Thea grinned, playfully nudging him. "Don't get distracted—we came here to have fun, remember?"
At a certain moment, Mun and Thea made a mutual decision to engage in a race to determine who would be the first to reach the water of the sea. They dashed across the warm, golden sand with the enthusiasm of youthful individuals.
Mun grinned as he reached the edge of the water first, splashing his foot in the surf. "I win!"
Thea, slightly out of breath from laughing so hard, caught up to him and playfully shoved him toward the water. "You cheated! You didn't even count down."
Mun chuckled, grabbing her hand as she moved closer to the water. "You're just mad because I'm faster."
"Faster, but not smarter," Thea quipped with a mischievous glint in her eyes. She suddenly ran past him and kicked up a huge splash of water toward Mun, drenching the bottom half of his shorts.
"Hey!" Mun yelped, jumping back in surprise.
Thea giggled uncontrollably, her laughter carrying over the sound of the waves. Mun, grinning now with a playful glint in his eyes, stepped toward her with mock determination. "Oh, you're asking for it now."
Before Thea could react, Mun scooped her up effortlessly, tossing her over his shoulder as she squealed in surprise. "Mun, put me down!"
But Mun was already wading into the water, both of them laughing uncontrollably. The waves lapped around his legs as he carried her deeper into the ocean. Without warning, he gently tossed her into the water, sending a wave of cool seawater splashing around them both.
Thea surfaced with a gasp, brushing her wet hair out of her face. "You're so dead!"
Mun raised his hands in surrender, but he was laughing so hard that he couldn't defend himself when Thea lunged at him, splashing water in his face. They spent the next few minutes playfully splashing each other, diving into the waves and letting the water pull them in and out with its gentle current.
At one point, Thea jumped onto Mun's back, wrapping her arms around his shoulders as he carried her through the waves. "This is revenge for earlier," she teased, but the softness in her voice showed how much fun she was having.
Mun grinned, his hands holding onto her legs as he trudged through the water. "I'll allow it. This time."
Thea rested her chin on his shoulder, her face close to his ear. "I can't believe it's been so long since we've been to the beach. We should do this more often."
Mun nodded, turning his head slightly so their noses brushed. "Yeah, we should. I forgot how much I love this."
After a while, they floated lazily in the shallows, letting the waves rock them gently. Thea rested her head against Mun's chest, her body nestled against his as they watched the sun climb higher in the sky. The day was perfect—the kind of day you wish would never end.
"You know," Mun said softly, his fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns on Thea's back, "this is probably one of the best days I've had in a long time."
Thea looked up at him, her eyes warm and filled with affection. "Yeah? What makes it so special?"
Mun smiled, his hand moving to cup her cheek as he tilted her face up toward his. "You. Being here with you makes everything better."
Thea's heart swelled at his words, and without another thought, she closed the small distance between them, pressing her lips softly against his. The world seemed to fade for a moment, and all that existed was the sound of the waves and the warmth of their embrace.
When they pulled apart, both of them smiling like lovestruck teenagers, Thea whispered, "This really is perfect."
Mun nodded, pulling her closer. "Yeah, it is."
They spent the rest of the afternoon running up and down the beach, building sandcastles, and chasing each other along the shore. Mun even insisted on burying Thea's legs in the sand, much to her amusement. They also chased each other across the beach, playing like kids, with Mun constantly sneaking glances at Thea, unable to believe how stunning she looked. At one point, they both dove into the waves, Mun coming up behind Thea and wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her close as the water swirled around them. She laughed, leaning into him, feeling the warmth of his embrace against the coolness of the sea.
Every moment was filled with laughter and the kind of carefree joy that came from being with someone who understood you completely. The sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the water, and as the day slowly turned into evening, they sat together on the sand, watching the sunset in comfortable silence.
Thea leaned her head on Mun's shoulder, feeling utterly content. "I'm glad we did this," she said softly.
Mun wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. "Me too. Let's make it a tradition."
Thea smiled, closing her eyes as the sound of the waves and Mun's steady breathing lulled her into a peaceful calm. "Deal," she whispered.
And as the sun disappeared below the horizon, leaving behind a sky painted in hues of pink and orange, Thea and Mun sat side by side, knowing that this was a day they would cherish forever.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the sky in deep shades of pink and purple, Thea and Mun made their way back to the car, their hands intertwined and their feet dragging through the soft sand. They were both sandy, a little tired, but blissfully happy after the perfect day at the beach.
"Well, that was amazing," Mun said, swinging their hands gently between them. "Best beach day ever."
"Agreed," Thea smiled, feeling the warmth of the day still lingering in her skin. "Now we just have to make it back home in one piece."
But as they reached the car, Mun stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing as he stared at the back tire. "Uh... Thea?"
She followed his gaze, and her heart sank. The tire was completely flat, sagging sadly against the pavement.
"You've got to be kidding me," she groaned, rushing over to inspect it. She knelt down, running her hand along the deflated rubber. "When did this even happen? We were only gone for a few hours."
Mun scratched the back of his neck, glancing around the quiet parking lot. "It must've happened while we were at the beach. Maybe we drove over something?"
Thea stood up, hands on her hips, and sighed. "Of course. Perfect timing, right?"
Mun pulled out his phone, checking the time. "It's already pretty late. And we're two hours away from home..." He quickly dialed a local towing service, but after a few moments of speaking to someone, he frowned and hung up. "No one's available tonight to help change the tire. It'll have to wait until morning."
Thea rubbed her temples, trying to think. "Well, we can't just sit here all night. There has to be a cheap place nearby where we can crash, right?"
Mun nodded, pulling up his phone again and searching for hotels in the area. "Let me check. I'm sure there's something close by."
After a few minutes of scrolling, he found a small hotel just a few miles down the road. "It's not fancy, but it's cheap. And thankfully, we brought extra clothes."
Thea sighed in relief. "That's good enough for me. Let's just get there before it gets too late."
They grabbed their bags from the back of the car and started walking toward the hotel, the air cool and salty as the night settled in. The road was quiet, only the sound of their footsteps and the occasional car passing by to break the silence.
"This was not part of the plan," Thea said with a small chuckle, glancing at Mun.
He shrugged, smiling at her. "I don't mind. It's just another adventure with you."
Thea couldn't help but smile at his optimism. "I guess you're right. It could be worse."
As soon as they stepped into the hotel room, Thea and Mun shared a tired glance, both of them feeling the weight of the day on their shoulders. The room was small but cozy, with soft lighting and a view of the beach they had just left. They were both sandy and sticky from the saltwater, and the thought of getting cleaned up was a welcome one.
"I'll shower first," Thea said, dropping her bag on the bed.
Mun hesitated for a moment before grinning slightly. "Why don't we... both shower? Save time?"
The suggestion hung in the air, not entirely unusual given the fact they'd been together for years, but still, it carried a certain weight. Thea raised her eyebrows in surprise, a slight blush creeping up her neck, though she nodded, her lips curving into a shy smile. "Yeah... okay."
It wasn't the first time they'd done something like this, but it still felt new in a way that made both of them slightly self-conscious. They moved into the small bathroom together, the sound of the water running doing little to ease the slight tension in the air. Mun's fingers brushed Thea's as he turned on the shower, the room already filling with steam.
As they stepped under the warm spray, there was a brief moment where they just stood there, the water running down their backs. It felt intimate in a way neither of them expected, and though they tried to act casual, the occasional glance and shy smile betrayed their lingering nerves.
Thea reached for the shampoo, her fingers trembling slightly as she squirted some into her hand, working it into her hair. Mun chuckled softly, catching her eye. "You okay?" he teased, his own cheeks a little flushed.
"Yeah, it's just... you know," she shrugged, her smile sheepish. "Still getting used to this."
"Same," he admitted, though his hand gently traced down her arm as the warm water cascaded over both of them. "But I don't mind."
They helped each other wash, the water making the whole moment feel surreal, a quiet kind of intimacy that didn't need many words. Mun rubbed her shoulders gently, working out the tension from the day, while Thea lathered soap across his back, her touch soft but lingering. There was a kind of sweetness in how careful they were with each other, even after all this time.
Once they were both clean, they stepped out of the shower, wrapped in towels, the awkward tension gradually giving way to their usual comfortable closeness. They changed into fresh clothes, the air in the room cool against their damp skin.
Mun flopped onto the bed first, his wet hair still sticking up in different directions, and Thea followed, sitting cross-legged beside him. They had picked up some sandwiches and snacks from a convenience store earlier, and they quickly unwrapped them, too hungry to care about anything else.
"Simple but effective," Mun said, taking a big bite of his sandwich.
Thea laughed, nodding as she chewed. "We really know how to do beach trips right," she joked, glancing around the modest hotel room.
They ate quietly for a while, exchanging the occasional playful comment as they recounted the day's events, from the fun at the beach to the flat tire mishap. Despite the unexpected change in plans, they couldn't help but feel grateful for the moments they shared.
After dinner, Thea stretched out on the bed, her head resting on Mun's chest. He wrapped an arm around her, his fingers tracing absent patterns on her arm as they relaxed under the covers. The room felt cozy, the sound of the ocean just faintly audible through the slightly open window.
"We'll get up early tomorrow and sort out the tire," Mun said, his voice soft as he played with a strand of her hair.
Thea nodded, closing her eyes, feeling the warmth of his body next to hers. "And then head home," she murmured, her voice trailing off as sleep began to creep in.
Mun smiled down at her, watching as her breathing slowed, her body sinking further into the comfort of the bed. He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "I love you," he whispered, though he knew she was already halfway to sleep.
They fell asleep like that, tangled together, the weight of the day finally catching up to them. It was peaceful, and despite the unplanned turn of events, everything felt right. Tomorrow, they would head home, back to their friends and family, with stories to tell and memories made. But for now, in the quiet of the night, it was just the two of them, content and safe in each other's arms, waiting for the next adventure.
Author's not;
What do you think about it? I really enjoyed this chapter because I could really imagine everything as if it were me instead of Thea. There was a little more intimacy in the bathroom scene, I didn't go into much detail to let your imagination run wild, as I know how naughty it can be lol This is the third extra chapter, there are still seven more to go, so expect one every day! ❤️
