•Background• Nova's mom died when she was only three years old. Her dad became an alcoholic and started beating her until she bled, sometimes sending her to the hospital. He criticized her because of what she was. One night he even tried to rape her, but she escaped and ran away from home. She started a new life on her own and had been sensitive to human contact ever since.
