Backstory: When Amelia was born she wasn't looked after as much as her older twin, who was seen as sickly. When the family noticed he was perfectly fine it was just his hair, she started to also get more attention. Amelia couldn't speak until she was 2 years old which made her very insecure, especially at parties where she would hide behind Nicol or her twin. Since her hair was apple red she was the centre of attention but not in a good way. She was bad mouthed and called an attention seeker, she took the attention her brother needed.

The bullying got too much for the girl, which made her selectively mute and she was too scared to leave her house. She spent all of her time reading books and only spoke to her family until she met Nicol. Her parents and the Ascarts had agreed in the past about having their children engage, since Sophia wasn't in the right mental state, they nominated Nicol for Amelia. At first they didn't think it was a good idea, especially because of her choice to be mute with other people, but they wanted her to get better so they agreed.

When Nicol arrived he wasn't allowed to see Amelia, Aiden wouldn't allow it, so Nicol was told to get to know Aiden. The boys spoke and soon Nicol was allowed to see Amelia who was introduced to him. Since Nicol is a quiet boy he only sat next to her as he read, slowly she would seem to take notice of him and show him the book she was reading. He wasn't interested but he decided to read with the girl who, after a while, felt comfortable around him since she fell asleep on his shoulder. When she woke up she had spoke for the first time, her first words were "I'm sorry" because she slept on his shoulder. After that day she started to talk to him more and became the ball of sunshine that he loves. Thanks to meeting and becoming engaged to Nicol, Amelia became friends with Sophia.

They weren't that close since they were both very quiet girls, until Katarina joined their little group. She made both of the girls talk about Sophia and the Emerald Princess together. Instead of falling in love with Katarina in a romantic way, she looked up to her for her confidence and how kind she was. Wanting to become strong like Katarina she forced herself to go to other places that weren't the Ascart family house or the Claes. She started to talk more in public.

Personality: Aiden when he was younger was very overprotective of his younger weaker twin and would always protect her, especially because she got bad mouthed. He was very serious and would be playful with his sister and friends, he is someone you can just be around and feel safe. In front of other people he is very respectful and polite, even if he doesn't want to be at all, until he met Katarina. Aiden is the same when he is a teen but he becomes more mature and open with his feelings, especially when it comes to the people he chooses to show affection to. He is responsible enough to have the trust of the king to carry a sword to help his sons.

Backstory: Being born with white hair he was immediately seen as a sickly child, which he wasn't in the slightest. He was babied because of his hair when his twin needed the attention more than him. He didn't like the way people treated him and his sister, he was always given looks of pity and concern. While his twin was given looks of hate because she got all of the attention she got, which he thought she deserved.

When he first met Nicol he was very overprotective of his twin, who selectively decided to be mute because of the bullying she suffered. He decided to get to know the male before he was allowed to see his sister, he quickly noticed that Nicol was also suffering and got to know him personally. He started to treat Nicol with respect and explained his sister's situation to him. He understood and took his time with Amelia who quickly warmed up to Nicol. Aiden could see that Amelia had made Nicol feel wanted by other people and accepted him as her fiancé.

Even if he helped his sister, he was still treated like he was a sickly child outside of his house. He couldn't do anything that made him have to overexert himself, which made him pretty cold towards most people. When he met Katarina and she treated him normally and let him do whatever he wanted and never asked if he was okay every 5 seconds. He felt like he was finally accepted by people who weren't his family or to be family. Instead of falling in love with her, he felt a strong sense of affection, like he wanted to protect her however he could.
