One or the Other: Kirishima x Reader x Bakugo

This is a chapter from a book I had unpublished, of course, I edited it to fit the x reader format better. But now I have reuploaded the book this is based on. If you plan to read my book Ignition: Bakugou x Reader, then you may want to hold out from reading this.

"V-Day is tomorrow... You going to ask him out?" Uraraka nudged you on the shoulder.

"M-Maybe," your face flustered into a fit of red with eyes squeezed shut with great force it began to hurt.

"Nothing to be ashamed over, we all know you and Bakugo have a thing for each other," Momo tagged in overhearing the conversation with a pat on your shoulder.

"Is it that obvious?" You whined with your head hung low.

"You're the only person Bakugo will go out of his way to protect and support," Momo hummed recalling events from the past. The days you broke out into a fit of tears, unable to share a room with your father of whom barely gave you the attention you needed. Too busy with hero work to be at home for his daughter, it slowly ate away at you until you succumbed into despair.

"Yeah," Uraraka grinned. "Hate to bring it up again, but he really helped you through that adoption process," everybody knew about your adoption. Everybody in school that is.

"It must be pretty hard changing homes all so suddenly," Momo pats you on the back lovingly like the good friend she was.

"It was..." You sighed. "But I'm happier with Mr. Aizawa now, especially when All Might didn't have the time for me."

"That's good to hear," Uraraka smiled. "You've been noticeably happier since-"

"But do you think Bakugo actually likes me?" You questioned cutting Uraraka off very suddenly. "Maybe he's so nice to me because he's a good friend and nothing more."

"That's a possibility, but I highly doubt it," Momo claims.

"Bitch," Bakugo called you out over the semi quiet conversation you kept with your friends. You peered over their shoulders to face the fiery blonde head on. "Time to head home, we leave now, or else I'm ditching you," you bit your lip with a small whine, snatch your bag from your seat and join in at Bakugo's side in a worried rush. The girls shook their heads wondering how you could deal with him. Kirishima soon caught up with you both for the long walk back home with his closest friends. There wasn't much conversation, but the boys happily watched you with your arms outstretched while you walked on a thin strip of sidewalk to keep balance. You were so pure, so happy, so childlike, they couldn't help but smile.

"What's your plans for tomorrow?" Kirishima questioned Bakugo to break the silence.

"Like you need to know," Bakugo grumbled.

"You asking out (Y/n)?" Kirishima dug deeper knowing his best friend will be as difficult as always.

"I don't need to," Bakugo grumbled again. "She's going to do all the work, so I have no need to go out and buy a valentine," Bakugo's explanation really made Kirishima think twice. Does Bakugo think lowly of girls? The type of guy who thinks of women as maids or means to populate? Oh he hopes not.

"Bakugo... You really shouldn't assume that she'll ask you out-"

"You have some nerve telling me that," Bakugo gave Kirishima the death glare.

"I mean it," Kirishima frowned. "(Y/n) is a really shy girl, maybe she's expecting you to ask her out instead... Or, you could be nice and get her a valentine anyways. I'd hate for her to get hurt, we all know how fragile she is," Bakugo knew Kirishima made some valid points, but he never took them to heart. Nothing was going to motivate him to butter you up for a change. So the boys walked you home in silence, then continued to their homes.

Knock Knock

You squealed jumping up from the seat of your desk. The sudden knock was all so startling. The door opened soon after, Aizawa poked his head into the room finding your flustered face normal yet off. Being scared he understood, but the embarrassing blush? "It's late... You should head to bed," you spoke and you shook your head violently to signify you heard him and shall execute his order. Now that reaction was even more off, Aizawa glanced around the room, finding a heart shaped box sitting upon the face of your desk. "It's Bakugo isn't it?"

You huffed, letting the air out of your stomach and deflated just enough to make you slump. "I don't know..."

"What's wrong?" He questioned, stepping into the room and picked up your valentine. He saw that the TO: label was blank.

"I... I don't know if I should ask him out or not," you admit, hoping Aizawa would understand your struggles.

"Well... What's keeping you from writing his name down?" Aizawa asked instead of what you dreaded to hear. Like 'You shouldn't be dating at your age' or 'Bakugo isn't the guy for you.'

"What if he doesn't get me a valentine too? I don't want to give him one if I'm not going to get anything in return... Selfish right?"

"No," Aizawa tuts. "I understand where you're coming from."

"Oh," you nearly gasp.

"Got anybody else in mind?" He asked getting the ball rolling.

"Not really," you rubbed your arm. "I want to ask Kirishima out, I really like him too but at the same time if I do it'll make Bakugo jealous or even dangerous! It may really screw up our relationship if I ask Kiri out," you fell over within the bed, face planting into the pillow of your bed. "I don't know what to do!" You cried into the cushion.

"Here," Aizawa poked you, you arose from the bed to find Aizawa filling in the TO: column on your valentine with the same purple pen you used to fill out the other column. "I'll quickly go back to the store and buy another valentine," Aizawa handed you the box of chocolates gently, Bakugo was written across the cover in barely legible writing. "If Bakugo asks you out, give him this. If he doesn't, give Kirishima the other box. That way you're not stuck grieving over one mistake."

"That's genius," you awed staring at your sleepy adoptive father's horrible handwriting some more. "Thank you dad," you hugged him suddenly. Aizawa returned it as he couldn't be happier.

-----

You walked to school with your father the next day feeling overly happy for the event that could come. The two heart shaped boxes of chocolate sat within your backpack ready to be pulled out at moments notice. Unfortunately, Bakugo never talked to you once all day. Even at lunch he remained silent. Uraraka and Momo could tell you were silently suffering on the inside and they almost thought about talking some sense into the blonde but knew to keep out of it keeping you in mind. The entire day passed, and you received nothing. Not even something as simple as a carnation from your girl friends. You wanted to cry, not receiving a single thing really stung to make your heart weep from heartbreak.

Aizawa was packing up his things, ready to head home, but killed some time scrolling through some apps he had or watching a video or two. You hesitated to run up to him and ask for a supportive hug or a even to go out to eat together as a way to make your sorrows wash away, until you remembered that you had a backup valentine within your bag. It all clicked once you saw that spiky red haired boy talk to Kaminari about the valentines they received. You unzipped your bag, and proceeded to take out the box with Kirishima's name printed across the cover. Your palms become sweaty, your heart beat became intense too, but you powered through and made your first step.

"Hey (Y/n)!" Kirishima exclaimed with a wave of his hand "How'd your day go?" He asked.

"If I'm being honest... Horrible," you wore a shy grin.

"And you're happy about that?" Kirishima tilted his head in confusion.

"No," you sigh. "But here," you held out your valentine, Kirishima stared at it for a good minute before taking it into his hands. "Good day Kirishima," you waved before proceeding to leave. Kirishima snapped back into reality just as soon as you left, grabbing you by the arm.

"(Y/n) wait!" He called out. "I can take you out for a date tonight if you're up for it... And with Aizawa's permission as well," your cheeks began to burn with intensity once again. "I kept away from asking you out because I knew Bakugo would kick my butt, but I never expected you to ask me at all. So how about it?" And here I thought this entire thing would backfire right back into my face. Kirishima actually wanted to ask me out all along! Screw Bakugo! If he won't even be nice enough to wish me a happy Valentine's day or ask if I had plans, then he doesn't deserve me. I know that's really against his character but really?

"Let me ask Aizawa first," you couldn't help but smile replying back in such a shy whisper tone. Kirishima still had a hold on your wrist, following behind you as you made way for your father's desk. "Dad... " You called, Aizawa glanced up at you before pocketing his phone. "Can I go on a date with Kirishima tonight?" A moment of silence to follow, you began to sweat feeling the dread of what could be his answer.

"Be home before Midnight... I trust you both enough to grant such a late curfew... Right?"

"Yes!" You grew all jittery, busting out into a little excited dance in place.

"You can trust me Teach!" Kirishima howled dragging you out from the classroom being the happy go lucky boy he was.
