Carlisle closed the door to his room, glaring down at his clothes while he did so. Rebekah was kind enough to buy him clothing though they didn't entirely fit his form well. The shirt was too small while the pants were too large.

He sighed before turning to notice Klaus striding down the hallway, the hybrid's gaze fixed forwards in an attempt to ignore him. As he passed, Carlisle glared at the back of his head.

"We have got to stop meeting like this."

"Like what?" Klaus bit out, stopping in his tracks and turning to face the witch.

"You noticing I'm in the room then going out of your way avoiding me." Carlisle supplied.

"I'm don't know what you expect of me. I never wanted you here."

There was a beat of silence.

"I think we need to talk about what happened."

"Why should we? I'd rather we continue as we have since the moment of your arrival." Klaus drawled, taking a step closer.

"I get it. I hate you, you hate me. But shouldn't we make some form of an effort to actually converse with each other?" Carlisle tried with a minuscule tilt of his head.

They shared a moment of silence staring before Klaus turned to leave.

"Did you sleep last night?" Carlisle called, which made the original stop and turn to face him again. Klaus' eyes showed agitation which his soulmate viewed as a "no".

"I didn't either. I thinks it's your mother's spell fucking us over."

Klaus didn't reply, his eyes narrowing at the witch.

"If we don't build ourselves some semblance of a "friendship" then we're screwed."

Klaus seemed to snarl at that.

"Fine. I have no where to be this dull morning. Let's try and make "friends"." Klaus growled. He made it sound like the word was an insult.

"Great. I need to buy clothes and some things for my room. I assume you're buying since I've been condemned from going back to Mystic Falls." Carlisle stifled a smile.

Klaus didn't reply as the two walked along side each other, though Carlisle was sure there was a scowl on his face.

-

The pair of soulmates had bought a substantial amount of clothing along with a few books. They were currently shopping at roadside stands. Well, Carlisle was while Klaus stood back with a bored expression.

"We shouldn't have come here." Klaus narrowed his eyes at the onlookers milling about around them.

"What? Why?" Carlisle didn't look up from the vinyl he was holding.

"People could see."

Carlisle looked up at that with a feigned small gasp.
"Oh my god, it's a gay couple."

"No." Klaus rolled his eyes. "Others may see you as a weakness."

"I thought you didn't care if I died." Carlisle's voice didn't hold a joking tone anymore before he set the vinyl back on the stand with a hum. Klaus didn't reply, only looking down to watch his soulmate pick up another vinyl.

"Let's get going. I have a few angry siblings to face when we get back." Klaus eyed the vinyl shelves with feigned interest though it was out of boredom more than anything.

"Yeah." The witch agreed, finally looking up to make eye contact with the stranger standing merely a few yards away in the crowded market. The pair walked past a few other stands before the original hybrid stopped at a jewelry stand. There were a few necklaces and rings that looked like they could be vintage. Carlisle eyed a necklace before realizing something as he reeled back slightly.

"What is it?" The original inquired, turning to his soulmate.

"I just remembered. I forgot to give you this back. Elijah left it after I did the soul tracking spell for him." Carlisle grabbed at Niklaus' necklace which he kept wrapped around his wrist as a bracelet of sorts (only for a reminder of course, nothing else). The hybrid hadn't noticed it due to his long sleeved shirt.
"I apologize for not giving it back earlier."

Klaus snatched it out of his hands, quick to not touch the witch more than necessary though both of them felt the effect of it. The hybrid looked at the necklace for a moment before placing it in his pocket.

"Let's go." The taller of the two led the way with a huff. Carlisle had no choice but to follow after him.

-

While Carlisle took his time putting away his new clothes among other things, events took place involving Dahlia. He always seemed to miss the "good" bits, didn't he?

Josephine was murdered and possessed by Dahlia which was something Carlisle found unfortunate. Josephine LaRue was both a powerful witch and an interesting character.

Klaus left for his room after, karate chopping her head off. He suprisingly called Carlisle over when the wtich was walking past the ajar door.

The hybrid was painting quite fervently to the point where Carlisle was concerned the man may plunge the brush straight through the canvas.
Klaus stopped to turn around and face the witch with an expectant look.

"Well," the man gestured to the stool near his canvas. "Sit down."

Carlisle hesitantly sat, eyeing Klaus as he looked back to his canvas and continued to paint.

After nearly thirty minutes of silent painting on Niklaus' part and silent watching on Carlisle's, the original tossed a sketchbook his way.

"Do something with it. I can't stand your incessant staring."

Carlisle awkwardly opened up the cover, grabbing at a pencil on the desk beside him. He was the complete opposite of an artist though he had studied architecture in college and that's what he sticked to. A rough sketch of Mystic Grill would do in this case. Seeing as he didn't have a ruler, the lines were rather crude.

The silence continued for another thirty minutes before the peace was interrupted by the ever so dapper Elijah Mikealson. Carlisle looked up, making eye contact with him as the vampire narrowed his eyes in his direction.

"You do understand there is not time." Elijah looked to Klaus who turned around with a glare on his face before going back to his painting.

"Niklaus," Elijah stepped closer "If Mikeal's ashes are the key to ending Dahlia then surely you must see the need to share their whereabouts."

"I see nothing of the sort."

"It is no secret that you often strategize while painting." Elijah walked past Klaus to lean against a large window.
"I assume you have a plan."

Klaus turned to face his elder brother's turned form. "You ask that I can share my strategy so you can run straight to Freya and bring her into the circle of trust. I think not."

"It is too dangerous for you, brother. You cannot do this alone." Elijah turned to face the hybrid.

"He's right." Carlisle spoke up quietly.

The two brother's turned to the witch, Klaus taking a step forward to point a finger at him.
"Do not forget you're a merely a stranger in our home." Klaus bit out before reverting his gaze back to Elijah.

"Then whom should I trust to protect Hope?" Klaus walked away from Elijah and past Carlisle with long strides.
"Our newfound sister with duplicitous motives of her own? Hayley? Whose allegiance to her husband grows stronger by the by the day."

Klaus submerged his brush in a tin of water, rinsing out the paint before heading back to the canvas.
"Or how about Jackson, the self-declared king of the wolves?"

"You need to only trust me."

"I would love to, Elijah. Now more than every I need my brother, closest ally, my blood."

Klaus' voice lowered. "But you have not been the same since Mother got inside your head."

Elijah sighed before walking past his younger sibling as Klaus turned back to his painting.
"Your judgement is not what it was. You are not who you were. The Elijah I know would never have clung so desperately to the world of a stranger telling him what he wants to hear."

"Freya is our blood, brother." Elijah looked at Klaus as the hybrid turned to look at the canvas.
"She also has every reason to want Dahlia's demise. We have no cause to distrust her."

"Which is a far cry from being trustworthy." Klaus turned with his paint brush held pointedly at Elijah.
"She vanquished Finn, yes. But only after she herself resurrected him. And though lauded from saving Rebekah from Eva Sinclair how do we know she didn't have a hand in waking that demon on the first place?" The original hybrid challenged which Carlisle considered a fair point. Though he had only met their elder sister, he already didn't trust her.

"Niklaus, if we cannot trust one another... we can't work together." Elijah stepped forward.

"No," Klaus glided his brush across the canvas. "We cannot."

The eldest brother narrowed his eyes at Niklaus before sharing a small glance with Carlisle.
