But you like her better, wish I were Heather
YAHOO I'M BACK! And yep the title is from the song Heather cuz I don't wanna think of an actual title. Also this is FULL-ON angst. And I mean the heartbreak kind. So yeah. Enjoy(?) They're objects. Btw I'm not good with writing sad scenes like this that well soooooooooo bear with me guys :') ALSO SORRY IF LIGHTBULB IS OOC IN THIS SOBBING LOUDLY-
Microphone had been spending more time with Soap lately. Lightbulb had noticed this and couldn't help but... feel jealous. She didn't know why exactly, but she felt it. And it made her feel sour. She knew Mic wasn't going to leave her and that she had friends too. Hell, Lightbulb herself hung around with Paintbrush, Test Tube and Fan too sometimes, without Microphone, so Mic could also be without her right? It's only fair.
Today, Lightbulb hoped Mic would be able to hang out with her. She was sitting in her and Mic's shared hotel room When Mic walked in.
"Hey Micsy, wanna walk Baxter with me?" She asked happily.
Microphone looked at her and sighed a bit.
"I was actually gonna hang out with Soap." She said.
Lightbulb's look saddened.
"You always hang out with her!" She said, laying down on her back and letting her head hang off the bed a bit.
"Well, I just want to keep contact with her. She misses me too, y'know. I'll be back, Lighty. Then we can spend some time together." She smiled at Lightbulb.
Lightbulb sighed. Mic always said this, but it wasn't always true. She wanted to get mad at Mic, but all she did was close her eyes in disappointment.
"Alright..."
Microphone smiled softly and left. Lightbulb sat up and looked down. She felt mixed feelings she couldn't shake off. She felt sad, anxious, even angry. Angry at Mic for hanging out more with Soap, at Soap for stealing Mic from her, and at herself for making these assumptions because hell, were they even true? She flopped down on her back, feeling guilty for being this way. Man, she really was a mess. No wonder Mic hung out with Soap more. Soap at least had her shit together and had a way better maturity level. Did Mic even want to hang with Lightbulb anymore? Did she even care? Did...
Did Mic even love her...?
She felt her eyes getting teary at the thought of Mic leaving her for Soap, but she also felt like Mic deserved better. What were those feelings? Why did she feel them while she knew Mic wouldn't do that to her? Separation anxiety sucked, still sucks and will always suck. She hated herself for having it too. She blinked the tears away and sat up. She didn't want to cry like a baby. She just decided to see if Paintbrush, Fan or Test Tube wanted to hang out.
On her way to the lobby, she walked past Soap's room. Laughs from Mic and Soap could be heard. They sounded like they were having fun... Mic sounded so happy... When Mic was alone with Lightbulb it'd either be romantic or Mic having to comfort her. Or sometimes silly stuff. But mostly the first two. Mic always had to deal with Lightbulb's shit. Was this why she went to hang with Soap more? To be free from her?
She felt herself getting teary angain and decided to quickly walk away to hang out with her friends instead.
Later, it turned out that none of her friends were free. Fan was at the lab with Test Tube and Paintbrush was giving a painting class. Lightbulb just decided to join the class. She got greeted by Paintbrush and the lesson began. It was about drawing something with a specific color palette. It was quite fun. It distracted Lightbulb a bit from her thoughts.
After the class, Lightbulb went back to her room, feeling content with the painting she made. She'd show Mic the painting when Mic was back from hanging around with Soap.
On her way back, she heard Mic and Soap again and this time, the door was open. She quickly hid behind a corner when she saw Mic and Soap walk out.
"Hehe, yeah, I'm going back now." Mic said.
"Yeah, good choice. You look tired." Soap replied.
The two said goodbyes to each other and hugged. The next thing that happened was something Lightbulb didn't expect; Mic bent forward and gave Soap a little kiss on the forehead. Soap smiled and then the two parted, Mic walking away while Soap closed the door.
Even though the kiss was most likely platonic, Lightbulb still felt her heart sink. She turned and walked back to her room, sulking. She got there earlier than Mic, thankfully. She put the painting somewhere and then laid down on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
A few moments later, a mic came in. Lightbulb didn't react. Microphone noticed this.
"Hey Lightbulb...! Are... Are you okay?" She said cautiously, approaching her girlfriend.
"Hey." Lightbulb said in a soft, sad tone.
"What's wrong?" Mic asked, sitting down on the bed.
Lightbulb pulled her legs up and sat up, turning away from Mic. Mic found this strange. What was going on?
"Lighty... Wh-"
"I saw you kiss her." Lightbulb interrupted Mic bitterly.
"Wha-"
"You kissed her! You gave her a forehead kiss! I saw!" Her tone was angry now.
Microphone was about to ask what Lightbulb meant but then remembered.
"That was just a platonic kiss, we do that every time we say goodbye." She tried to reassure Lightbulb.
"Yeah, sure. And of course you're also having more "platonic" fun with her. I get it. If you don't love me anymore, you can just say so." Lightbulb said, turning more towards Mic but not looking at her.
Microphone was a bit shocked at this answer. Did Lightbulb really feel like Mic was going to leave her?
"Lighty, I would never do that. I love you with all my heart-"
Lightbulb looked straight at Mic, with a look Mic had never seen on her face before. It was a look which showed a mix of anger and sorrow and also a little bit of fear hidden somewhere in her eyes. It made a pang of sadness go through Mic's heart and made Microphone stop talking.
"You always say that, but you never want to hang out with me. You almost NEVER want to be silly with me like you're with her. You're always with her. What makes you like her more than me, Microphone?" Lightbulb asked.
Mic didn't know why, but the way Lightbulb referred to her with her whole name instead of just "Mic", "Micster" or "Micsy" made her feel even sadder and, admittedly, even a little scared and concerned. Lightbulb's brows furrowed when Mic didn't answer straight away.
"Answer me! I'm not stupid, Microphone!" She yelled, making Microphone flinch.
"Lighty, you- I-" Mic couldn't really think of what to say due to the sad, scared and concerned feelings she felt.
Lightbulb sighed.
"I gotcha, you like her more than me in general. Well, if you wanna be with her, why don't you?"
Microphone kept silent.
"Why don't we just break up while we're at it?" Lightbulb's tone got louder and angrier again. "I'm just a burden to you, I'm not bright enough for you!"
Microphone felt even more scared. Did Lightbulb really- No!
"Lighty, I-"
"No. I- Microphone, we're- We're done." Lightbulb turned away from Mic while saying this, trying her hardest not to cry. "Leave," she added, "you're better off with her. I'm better off alone."
Microphone was devastated. Lightbulb really broke up with her...? She slowly got up.
"Okay," she said, her voice shaking and barely above a whisper, "I'll leave, then."
She left the room and closed the door. Outside, she began to cry, albeit quietly. She doesn't cry easily, but Lightbulb breaking up with her was devastating to her. Lightbulb was her everything, and now... it was all gone.
She decided to walk to Soap's room to just cry there.
Meanwhile, Lightbulb also started crying as soon as Mic left. What had she done? She just pushed her girlfriend out of her life. But it was better than Mic doing it to her. Maybe it was better this way. But still she couldn't stop herself from crying. She buried her face in a pillow to muffle her sobs. She hated this, she hated herself for doing this. But she couldn't reverse it.
She stayed in her room the rest of the evening and didn't even come out for dinner, to get a piece of "the legendary pizzer" as she called the pizzas from Nomido's OJ always ordered once a week.
That night, Lightbulb went to sleep, alone. It felt strange, and not in the silly way she usually liked strange things to be. It was the negative kind of strange. As if something was missing. Or rather someone. Lightbulb knew damn well who it was, and that it was all her fault.
She couldn't fall asleep that night. It got later and later, but she just couldn't drift off. She was too mad at herself and cold as well. Usually she'd relish in Mic's warmth. But now she couldn't
She wanted to talk to Mic, tell her she was sorry and tell her she wanted her back, but she was scared. Scared of upsetting her even more, scared of being rejected.
Eventually, she just decided to get up and grab a midnight snack. There wasn't much else to do. She got up and walked to the lobby. In the lobby, Pickle was playing video games. Judging by his tired look, it seemed like he had been playing for the whole night already. She walked past him, to the kitchen. At the kitchen table, she saw someone sitting at one of the tables that were placed in the kitchen recently. It was Mic. Mic was drinking a DrFizz while sitting at the table, sadly. Lightbulb stared at her. She could talk to her now and apologize, but... would Mic accept it?
After a bit of debating with herself, Lightbulb decided she would just do it. She walked up to the table and sat down next to Mic. Mic looked up.
"Hey Lightbulb." She said in a sad voice.
"Heya Micster, I..." Lightbulb trailed off.
"What is it?" Mic asked, raising a brow.
Lightbulb felt herself get overwhelmed with fear and sadness. Tears prickles at her eyes.Microphone saw it. She hesitated before taking Lightbulb in a hug. That broke Lightbulb. Lightbulb started sobbing, shaking and twitching in Mic's arms with each sob she let out. Microphone didn't say anything, she just held Lightbulb, feeling some of her own tears trickle down her cheeks.
Eventually, Lightbulb stopped crying. She looked up at Mic.
"I'm... I'm sorry." She spoke, "I'm sorry for breaking up with you, I'm sorry for acting like such an idiot and a jerk back there, I'm sorry for being such an emotional mess, I'm sorry for-"
"Lighty." Mic interrupted Lightbulb's ranting.
Lightbulb sniffled.
"What?"
"I'm sorry too."
Lightbulb raised a brow. Microphone continued speaking.
"I'm sorry for making you feel like you didn't belong. I... I talked to Soap about what happened and she told me to talk to you and apologize. But... honestly I was a little scared to upset you more so I wanted to wait until tomorrow. But I'm glad we could talk now at least. You're not a burden, Lighty. I love you, I love you with all my heart, I- I would never want to leave you."
Her eyes started getting teary again. Lightbulb saw it and hugged Microphone tightly, starting to cry again
"I love you too!" She cried.
The two cried together for a while until they both calmed down. They pulled away from the hug and looked at each other.
"So uh, we- we cool?" Lightbulb asked hesitantly.
Microphone chuckled.
"We cool. I love you, my silly light."
Lightbulb blushed but then smirked a bit.
"Did you just think of that nickname?" She asked with a slight teasing tone.
Microphone blushed as well and giggled.
"Maybe." She replied, in the same teasing tone.
They both giggled, feeling relieved, happy and most of all, love all over again.
"Aww, c'mere, loud stuff." Lightbulb said, before pulling Microphone into a kiss.
Microphone let out a surprised squeal, but then giggled and smiled into the kiss and kissed back. The two held this tender kiss for a moment before pulling away.
"I love you, Lighty." Mic said, hugging Lightbulb.
"I love you too, Micsy." Lightbulb replied, hugging Mic back.
