John's POV
"Wake up, time for breakfast!", Grandma yelled from downstairs.
The smell of bacon and eggs wafted through my nose, my body bolted upwards. Glancing at my bedside clock, I soon realised the time and jumped out of bed. I scrambled my way to the bathroom and quickly lathered myself in water. I quickly put my clothes on and ran downstairs. "What about breakfast," asked my Grandmother. I replied, "Don't worry about it!"
I ran outside my door, rushing past the modern-looking houses. My legs ached as they ran by themselves. My stomach began to rumble, and I managed to make it to the nearest gas station. The gas station had an Eleven-Seven, so I stopped by. I entered Eleven-Seven to get a pie, only to see a familiar face. Charles was chilling by the aisles, sipping a slushie. I decided that maybe I can say hi to him. I greeted, "Hi Charles, I didn't know you live around here." He looked at me, like he doesn't even know me. Awkward silence has swept upon us, and so I grabbed the courage to get a pie in the hot oven. I walked up to the cashier, completely ignoring Charles staring in the corner. I payed for the item, and immediately left. As I got out of the store, I ran up as fast as I could to the bus station. I stopped by the station, and opened up my cheesy bacon pie. Coincidentally enough, Charles decided to pop by next to me, when I was at the bus station. I just stared at him in awe that he ignored me first thing in the morning, but he decided to follow me here anyways.
Charles asked eagerly, "Where are you going?" I stared at him, confused. "To school, where else?" I replied. He looked at me like what I just said to him was alien. Is he ditching school? Or does he just hate school in general? Curious, I asked, "Aren't you supposed to be at school, with Braxton?" He looked so distant, and his face looked as though he had seen bad things. Usually he's stubborn and annoying, but just then, he somehow looked handsomely hopeless. STOP IT JOHN! He's too out of your league! I mean Braxton is up there in the social hierarchy, but Charles is found on top of that. "I don't care about school, it's a waste of time," said the stubborn Charles. I replied, "As well as money, Charles." He looked away from me, and stared at the ground in silence. I guess I owned him one there. I saw my bus arriving, so I stood up and walked aboard the bus. I sat on the seat, and stared out the window where Charles was just looking at me, his eyes reflecting hopelessness. I smirked at him and the bus drove off.
I arrived just outside school, and went through the school gates. Pretty much my boring daily routine (except for encountering Charles at Eleven-Seven). I walked up the bench table near the basketball courts, and saw Addilyn waving at me. As always, I have to greet my skinny best friend. Addilyn greeted me by saying, "Hi, wassup! You're later than usual." I just couldn't seem to process anything she just said right now. After all that Charles apparition, I seemed so shaken up and flustered. But, I like Braxton, not Charles. It just seems so, so, weird... "Hello, you're acting strange today," mentioned Addilyn. Yup, I agree. I'm acting weird this morning, but that's because I saw Charles not acting normal. So I replied, "I was just... Hungry." Wow, good excuse John. Why can't you tell her what happened this morning? It's not even that scary! Addilyn commented, "Ok, sure thing John." Ring! Ring! That's my cue to go.
After homeroom, I went to my first class, English. As I curve around the corner, I see Braxton hitting up a BUNCH of girls. Pshh! Of course, he also managed to look my way. I look away, being seen staring at him is too embarrassing. I see my teacher stroll up, and people made way. It was the all mighty, Ms. Perfecto. She's also a classified Drama and English teacher. She has a fluent british accent, and always looked "stunning". She's different from Ms. Stewart, she's getting the boys head-over-heels her. She wears something that's appropriate, but is still revealing in some way. Boys comment over her beautiful smell, like a bunch of roses in a garden. Pssshhh! She's not even my type, she's that typical popular teacher. Apparently, she's also single, which gives a bunch of teenage boys a reason to fanboy over her. Annoying! She opened the door, and the girls enter the room. As we all enter the room, we notice her stack of books. Everyone sat down and got their textbooks out. Ms. Perfecto started handing out books, it said 'Romeo and Juliet'. Duh, it's Ms. Perfecto, she's going to incorporate theatre into English. "Good morning class, today we are going to learn about the iconic story, 'Romeo and Juliet'. Now, I'd like you to start reading this book, because we will be holding a mini play by our class as your assignment. Each of you will play a role from the story, so begin reading, and we will get together the roles for the play," All the girls began murmuring to each other, giggling and glancing at Braxton. I bet they are all thinking of being the lead actresses with Braxton. I sighed. If only I could play the role of Juliet with Braxton. Me, the love-struck damsel and with a hopeless love for her Romeo. Out of nowhere, the thought of Charles hopeless face appeared in my mind. NO! You like Braxton, BRAXTON! English passed by like a blur, and before I knew it, the class had ended.
I started to question Charles' apparition because he didn't appear in our daily meeting before our actual meeting. So I went up to Braxton, almost tripping. Braxton exclaimed, "Hey, watch where you're going!" People started laughing at me, people were glaring at me like I'm alien. I feel a tear coming down my face, and then I ran.
