Fourteen

"Oh my gosh! I miss you!" I exclaimed in surprise when I saw a familiar lady approaching the coffee shop where I was impatiently waiting for Damon.

Her usual long curls were gone and was replaced with an awesomely short hair. Her eyes sparkled when she saw me. She is indeed looking fabulous!

"Brittany! Sissy!" Yep, the perky lady's voice belonged to none other than Crystal.

"Sssh!" Was the collective, annoyed remarks of the people at the coffee shop.

I immediately apologized to them, realizing most are students and bent over their books or laptops.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" Crystal hugged me as soon as she came to the table where I am at.

"Anong meron? Bakit ka andito? Wala kang klase?" I asked her automatically and she shook her head.

"Maaga sembreak namin. The profs are away for some kind of retreat so inadvance na nila." She chuckled.

Crystal was about to add something when her mouth hung in mid-air. I frowned and my eyes traveled to where she was looking.

I gasped when we saw who was— I mean, were— confidently strutting their asses inside the coffee shop.

"Missed us?" Aly and Deirdre asked and sat across us.

"Sissy!" Me and Crystal lost it and we found ourselves being the center of the annoyed and irritating glares from the shop-goers.

"Tara na nga! Hindi tayo makakapagchikahan dito sa sobrang tahimik ng lugar! Daig pa library sa katahimikan!" Aly hissed and began to stand up again, holding my arms while I struggled to grab my bag. Deirdre linked her arm with Crystal while they were happily chattering away.

"T-teka! Si Damon! I'm waiting for.." my words were drowned with the wind by the time we stepped out of the coffee shop.

There, outside in his new baby, a mini-van, was Damon looking very expensive and handsome in his polo shirt and black denims.

"Waiting for me?" He said and winked as the girls began climbing inside his car. He opened the car door for me while I gaped at him.

"Ikaw ba ang nagdala sa kanila dito?" I asked in astonishment. He nodded. "Why? You're busy with your OJT, diba?"

I got in and he closed the door. As soon as he went to the driver's seat, he said, "you deserve a break, babe. You have been working yourself up and I know you miss your friends. Them."

Yes. He's right.

The Alphabet Squad is indeed my home.

Soon, we found ourselves inside a restaurant which Damon had reserved for us. We told the waiters our orders and we immediately engaged ourselves with conversations.

"How's college life at Saint Andrew University, D?" That was Crystal's question, raising an intrigued eyebrow at her. She was sitting across Deirdre who was beside me and Damon.

"College life in SAU was fun! I am having the time of my life being a MassCom student!" She exclaimed wiggling her eyebrows at us.

Yes. She has been the writer one among us. She was the studious type since highschool compared to me. I go in-between studying and sleeping.

"Eh, ikaw? How's life being a Tourism student, Aly?" I asked her and our orders arrived shortly.

Damon quickly distributed our orders to us and we talked over food.

Aly pushed through with her dreams of becoming a flight attendant and her family can afford it too.

Same goes with Crystal. They have their family's support.

"Eh ikaw, girl? Kumusta?" Aly asked me and I stopped midway with my food. "Happy with your life? I mean, how are you now? With Benson away and you here all alone?"

"Aly!" Deirdre seemed to warn her with her tone of the voice.

I managed a smile and pretended to be fine. "I am thriving! I am fine! Besides, Kuya just wants the best for us now that our parents are gone."

Crystal must have sensed the awkwardness in my voice so she spoke up, "Oh my gosh! Ang sarap nitong hipon! Try nyo, guys! Dali! Butterred shrimp is really heaven!"

She continued to gush and got the attention of Aly and Deirdre. Damon just caressed my arm sympathetically. He must have sensed my discomfort earlier and I smiled at him gratefully.

"Here comes the dessert! Yey!" Crystal exclaimed in excitement. Like me, she also has a sweet tooth.

The waiter came in with banana split, cookies and cream delight, chocolate parfait, mocha lover and coffee crunch bliss for us all. Damon excused himself to the restroom and us, girls, were left for awhile.

"Kamusta naman kayo ni papi Damon?" Crystal asked as she began to dig in her banana split. "Gaano na kayo katagal?"

I shook my head. "Nanliligaw pa lang sya. Grabe kayo."

"Partida, nanliligaw pa lang yan ha? Kuntodo effort hatid sundo ka." Aly commented and rolled her eyes.

For a second, I began to be irritated with her remarks. But I decided to remain my cool. Thankfully, Damon came back.

"What did I miss?" He asked grinning.

I threw warning glances at the girls and they just gave him warm smiles.

"Just some girly stuff." Deirdre came to the rescue and winked at me.
