Chapter 10: The Sky is Falling

My head was pulsing with pain, as I became conscious again.

I opened my eyes slowly. I could only see sky stretching for miles and miles. Green was set out in below of me, and it seemed miles away.

Where am I? Did Pit do this? I didn't know what happened last and why I'm here. All I could feel was the pain pulsing down my spine. Something had shattered, most likely a rib, and my right arm was still bleeding. I would now have Pit on my back to have Palutena look at the wounds and heal them. Just great.

A few seconds later, I remembered some advice.

'I have absolute trust in Lady Palutena, you should too.'

Pit told me this advice sometime after one of my many fights with Palutena.

I just don't trust Palutena, I just can't. All she sees me as is a clone, another Pit she can abuse her powers on. the only reason I'm still in Skyworld and doing the task was for Pit.

I hope there's someone nearby now. In general, someone to rescue me, I won't admit I need the help though.

I took a better look at my surroundings. I seemed to be... Free falling out of the sky. Wait. Was I falling? I'm an idiot for not realizing I'm falling sooner! My surroundings were unfamiliar, though so it's no where I've ever been. It felt almost... Ominous.

It felt like I was starting to fall faster, gravity 'kicking in' weighing down on my body, and I continued to travel closer to the ground... Having regrets, pain, and sorrows taunt me.

I was only breathing in short breaths now, and I couldn't see any signs of civilization for miles. It was only me, alone and you would think I would be happy being away from Pit. Everyone had a final regret, mine... involving Pit. This fall was nothing but a trip of certain death, a skeptical though that you could survive this, and a journey into nothingness.

I couldn't fly. In Pandora's name, I don't know why, and I sure don't like this feeling. I was stuck as I tries to remember why I got here in the first place.

Where is Pit? Hopefully he isn't falling from the sky like me, it would make my death a little better at least.

Thinking of Pit... I wonder where he is at the moment. If we still had that 'strange' twin connection Viridi says we do, I believe he would probably be experiencing something similar, except he would be actually flying!

And then my answer was solved not a moment sooner.

I suddenly saw something appear across from me. How can something appear out of nowhere, maybe Palutena actually did send Pit for me.

It was a light figure, who's wings were white. He, telling from their build, had a gemstone radiating a bright, red glow, that was on the figure's left shoulder. It was Pit of course.

Pit's wings were all burned up, his stomach and wrist were covered in dry blood. He looked pitiful and hurt, and to be honest, it killed me inside.

Pit continued to fall farther and farther away from me. I tried to yell his name for him to come back, but I couldn't and all there was was distance between us.

I then yelled out to anyone, Palutena, Viridi, even Hades to allow me to fly to save Pit. My wings suddenly alighted and just as I touched Pit's finger he became nothing but ash.

I screamed no at the sight as a deep evil laugh filled the air. And then all there was was darkness.

------------------------

I wake up with a jolt, and a cold-sweat was running down my face.

I looked around at my surroundings. I was obviously back at Skyworld, lying down on a bed in a spare medic room. The bed wasn't at all neat anymore.

I tossed the covers off of me. Bandages had been wrapped around my chest, and were secured along my back. One of my wings was also wrapped tightly. Palutena must have healed my injuries using her so-called 'power of healing'.

I sit up, and throw my legs over the side of my bed. I look at my Silver Bow that was lying at the side of the bed.

"It was only a dream," I mutter to myself.

I shuffle around the room to find the light switch, so I can turn it on, this is one of the only rooms in the Palace that doesn't have windows.... The Silver Bow reflected the light that the bulb gave off.

I sigh, as I sit back down on the bed. Was the task of making an alliance completed, or not? How did I even get here? Is Virdi alright?

I quickly stand up, is Pit ok? I know he isn't dead, or I would be dead, but is he not badly injured?

I quickly hurry out of the room. My thoughts became faster in pace as I opened the door and ran out the hallway thinking how badly they could be hurt.

I then slowed as I reached the medic wing, which was on my way to the center of the Palace. On all of the beds where injured angels, even little children. Who would do this to civilians? And more importantly, why did I get the spare medic room if there is still a dozen beds open? I know I'm not widely liked in Skyworld, but you didn't have to stick me in a closet!

I started to look more closely at the citizens as I walked past them, majority of them had a head injury, but all of them had at least one broken bone. Could the 'red meteor' that happened at Virdi's palace happened here? Whatever happened seemed to cause a lot of traumatic injuries to them, not a single one was awake.

I decided go and ask...ask Palutena for the answer. No, I will just ask Pit, there is no need to ask Ms.Know-It-All-Goddess. But they should be in the Great Hall.

------------------

After a few (many) wrong turns, I found the entrance to the Great Hall. It's hard to find your way around a destroyed-looking palace you know? I also looked around for centurions but I couldn't find any, I was getting the feeling that palace had become a ghost town. Where could the stupid centurion have gone?

As I entered the Great Hall I was expecting to see Palutena but I ended up seeing Pit instead.

Pit turned to face me and said, "...Pittoo?" As he said my name I looked him right in the eye.

I looked at his injuries, at least they weren't that bad. I'm pretty sure he saw the relieve on my face, I might have even smiled at him.

Pit ran towards me and he throw his arms around me. I'm guessing he didn't notice that I actually enjoyed the hug, first time for everything.

After a few moments I spoke up and asked, "You okay?".

"I'm fine. Thanks for asking," He happily replied while letting go.

I nodded, then we heard clapping from the front of the room.

"How adorable. I'm glad you two are united once again," Virdi said with fake empty.

So Viridi is fine, great. But... I'm feel weird to say this: is Palutena ok and where is she?

"Hi Viridi!" Pit waved his hand back and forth rapidly to her.

"Yeah. Hi, Pit. And... Dark Pit," she responded. Of course she says my name last, after an ellipse.

"Hey, Viridi. Where's Lady Palutena? The centurions? Why is the palace an isolated wasteland? Well... Not completely, but why is it messed up?" Pit asked. He sure is full of questions, so I may as well add a question.

"Most importantly, what's up with all of the injured people," I added.

"Just calm down you two. You two are very demanding today. But, let's no forget who the goddess is around here. Am I right?" Virdi states. She seems kinda overwhelmed with the questions and something else at the moment.

"How can you be so stubborn in a time like this?! Half of the palace is destroyed! I want to know what is happening right now!" Pit yelled as he made his hands into tiny little fists.

I just stood silently. Pit just can't stand his home being in pieces. I think it would be better to not add fuel to Pit's rage fire.

Viridi looked exhausted and with closed eyes she looked at my twin and sighs.

Pit crosses his arms and then asks year another question, "Well? What do you got to say for yourself?" Pit then immediately facepalm himself. I guess he realized he really is starting to sound like a jerk. Viridi then opens her eyes, and stares directly into Pit. She has had it with him.

"If that's really how you feel, I'll tell you. Lady Palutena is gone. For the moment, at least. And I can do better than telling you what I know, I can show you," she stated defiantly, as she made her way quickly out of the room.

We followed her out of the Great Hall to a window down the hall, the window gave a view of majority of Skyworld. Viridi then stopped, and turned toward us.

"Go on and take a look. I'm waiting," Virdi stated with a big attitude.

Pit slowly approached the window as I following behind, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see the answer. Pit place his hands on the cold, marble windowsill, while I just looked out.

Skyworld was split in half, part of was like it always was the other part was.... totally demolished. How could have this happened while we were knocked out.

The only colors that I could see in the destroyed side of Skyworld was black, and grey. The villages that surrounded the palace and outward had already been taken by the flames.

---------------

Well, I'm sorry for not updating guys. I thought Pit didn't finish his part and didn't post it. Well hope you enjoyed. Tell me any mistakes I made so I can fix them, thanks!
