"How do you feel after gaining everyone's support today?" A voice questions from behind. Anne pause the television and finds her brother standing behind the doorway with a smirk on his face. Anne shrugs casually, "It feels good, I guess," She says and resumes her show.
Stefan scoffs and sits beside her, he snatches the remote, "Just because you corrected him and have everyone's support doesn't mean anything. I am the next Alpha." He says.
Anne stood motionless, her heart racing at her brother's unexpected declaration. A wave of realization washed over her—was this the reason he had been so distant throughout the day? She turned to face Stefan, her expression a mix of confusion and concern. "Jealousy doesn't suit you, Stefan," she said softly, yet firmly. "You're my brother, and you don't need to worry about me trying to take your place. I have no desire to be the Alpha."
Her tone was steady, a calculated calm in the midst of rising tension. She rose from her chair, the sunlight streaming through the window catching the determination in her eyes. "I'm going out for a run. It always helps clear my mind," she added, offering him a small, reassuring smile.
As she made her way to the door, she felt the weight of his gaze on her, a mixture of disappointment and concern. She stepped outside, ready to embrace the cool evening air, leaving Stefan behind, his shoulders slumped in shame as he contemplated her words.
On the other side of the wooden staircase, Elena stands quietly, watching the unfolding scene with a heavy heart.
A deep sigh escapes her lips as she feels the weight of her emotions, prompting her to make her way to her father. Just then, a gentle knock on the door interrupts Hunter's focus on the complex plan he has been meticulously drafting.
"Come in," he replies, his voice steady and welcoming. As the door creaks open, a small head peeks in, revealing the bright eyes of his daughter. Instantly, a warm smile spreads across his face at the sight of her familiar figure.
"My Ellie, come here," he calls out, opening his arms wide, inviting her into his embrace like a protective shield. With a rush of affection, Elena hurries into his arms, feeling comforted by his presence.
After a moment of warmth, she settles into a chair directly across from him, her heart still heavy but slightly lifted by the connection they share."Daddy, what are you doing?" She questions, looking at the pile of work.
Hunter waves his head in dismissive way, "Don't worry about it" He says.
Elena sat at the table, her eyes scanning the map spread out before her. A smile crept onto her face as she recognized a familiar location. "Isn't this place by the river?" she asked, her finger hovering over the circled spot.
Hunter, who had been deep in thought, looked up sharply, his brows furrowing with curiosity. "How do you know that?" he inquired, a hint of disbelief in his voice. The Moon pack lived in a hideous place. Their allies , which were very limited always had meetups at their house.
It was as if Moon pack is hiding something. But if Elena remembers the place then they can definitely find them.
Elena shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, but there was a spark of nostalgia in her eyes. "I followed Elizabeth there once. She used to visit it all the time," she explained, her voice dropping to a whisper as memories flooded back.
Hearing this revelation, Hunter's posture shifted; he sat up straight, his body tense with anticipation. "Do you think we can go there right now?" he asked, his excitement palpable.
Elena paused for a moment, weighing the idea in her mind. She recalled the winding path that led there and nodded slowly. "I guess so. I know the route pretty well," she replied, a mix of uncertainty and eagerness in her tone.
Without hesitation, Hunter jumped to his feet, his enthusiasm contagious. "Let's go then!" he declared, his eyes shining with determination.
Elena frowned, caught off guard by his urgency. "Right now?" she asked, her voice tinged with surprise.
Hunter met her gaze with unwavering resolve. "Right now, darling"
