Rating all MCU movies in release order
I won't actually be giving numerical ratings, this is just commentary.
1. Iron Man: This movie released when I was still eleven years old which is absolutely insane but even though I didn't see it till years later, I don't remember it that well.
2. The Incredible Hulk: I've never seen this movie in my life
3. Iron Man 2: I liked the sequels better than the first one. I think this is the one with a parking lot fight?
4: Thor: The first Marvel movie I ever saw and accordingly the first one I loved. My brother had rented it for 48 hours and watched it while I was at a sleepover watching Catching Fire (which had just come on DVD) and when I got home we watched it together on the computer before his rental ran out.
5. Captain America: My family watched this right after I saw Thor as a summer movie night. What a simple time.
6. The Avengers: Okay so quick story time about Avengers. My brother and I started watching it literally right as it went to DVD, and my parents got in a big fight. My dad was always trying to show us stuff with gore, and my mom wouldn't let him, but we could watch fantasy violence. My dad saw this as a double standard so he and my mom would have huge arguments. Because my mom didn't feel like arguing, she made us turn it off. We watched it again a year or two later and by then it was a nonissue. Also in a time not that far removed from the first time we tried to watch The Avengers, we weren't even allowed fantasy violence and I couldn't watch The Spiderwick Chronicles or read The Outsiders when I was 12 and I read Percy Jackson in secret because I was afraid my mom wouldn't like the covers. I know my mom had too much on her plate to preview things/have discussions with us but please don't raise your kids this way because I got really neurotic and one time at church I asked them to turn down the volume on Bible Man because I didn't want my mom to hear for fear she wouldn't be sure about it. That is the end of the story. The Shawarma scene at the end of The Avengers is classic.
Iron Man 3: This is my favorite Iron Man movie. I don't know if that's a popular opinion or not.
Thor: The Dark World: I loved this at the time of its release. Now I see so many other movies are better but it's still a crucial piece of the story and the Thor/Loki banter is *chef's kiss*
Captain America: The Winter Solider: Captain America's movies aren't my most favorite but we watched this with my mom and she got really stressed because she loved Bucky.
Guardians of the Galaxy: An absolutely perfect movie, there's nothing else to say.
Avengers: Age of Ultron: We saw this in theaters for my birthday because my family had moved on from their issues but anyway this was the only Marvel movie I have ever seen in theaters and it sucked.
Ant-Man: Another story time. My brother had started calling people Ass-Hat and I told him no one says that and that he made it up. Then they said it on Ant-Man and he was screaming and pointing.
Captain America: Civil War: This movie felt so long and I didn't like it.
Doctor Strange: I saw this really recently (like this year) and I liked it because it was different. I didn't see it at first because after Age of Ultron and Civil War I actually stopped watching Marvel for a little while.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume II: I watched this a year after release due to my temporary breakup with Marvel. I had gone through a hard time and this movie was not only exactly what I needed, it was just another perfect movie and it got me back into Marvel.
Spiderman: Homecoming: I watched this when it came out even though I had partially broken up with Marvel and I love the Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man movies so much I just wasn't really into this one.
Thor: Ragnarok: PERFECTION.
Black Panther: I was back into Marvel when this released and I loved it. It's probably in my top four not counting Infinity War and End Game which are in a league of their own.
Avengers: Infinity War: League of its own.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: I think the ant man movies are cute which is a weird word for
Marvel but they just are.
Captain Marvel: I honestly didn't love this please don't come at me.
Avengers: Endgame: LEAGUE. OF.ITS. OWN.
Spider-Man: Far From Home: I haven't seen it 💀
It was at this point I wondered why no Marvel movies released in 2020 and then I,,,,remembered.
Black Widow: This was arguably not the best but I loved it anyway.
Shang-Chi: If I could add a fifth to my top four, it would be this one.
Eternals: Haven't seen it yet but I will.
Spider-Man: No Way Home: Haven't seen it but I absolutely will for Tobey and Andrew.
The only Marvel shows I've seen are Loki and Wandavision both of which I liked as much as Infinity War and Endgame.
