Part 41: For All Time
Michael's point of view
We stayed there, on the ground, while the fireworks went off, and people started to gather in front of the building. June had her wattery eyes focused on the giant rolled out sign in front of us, and her hands were covering her mouth. When she turned her head towards me, she looked at my face and then down at the box in my hands. Tears started to well up in my eyes when I saw June's falling freely on her cheeks.
My heart was pounding in my chest, as I was anticipating her answer. To me, there was no way she would say no after all that was said the last couple of days, but I couldn't help it and got scared that she would turn me down again, only to punish me for what I did in the past.
"Now you may think it's a little bit too soon after everything we've been through, but I feel like it's the best moment for us to take the plunge and finally have our brand new start as an engaged, happy couple," I stood up from the floor, and stretched my hand for June to take it.
Once again, June covered her mouth with her right hand, while she delicately put her left one in mine, standing up from the floor as well.
"The fight for you is basically all I've ever known, and I'm tired of fighting. I know what I want now, and that is being with you for the rest of my days. I can't imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to," I declared, as she slowly removed her hands from her face. "Now let's dance together at our wedding, let's have a family, let's try to have a normal life together."
Still with a hold on her hand, I got down on one knee, and looked up at June with tears blurrying my vision.
"I've never done this for anyone before," I began in a soft, honest voice, "and let alone disguised as superheroes –" I added with a chuckle, which caused June to chuckle as well, which made my heart flutter at this very sound, " –because I was waiting for the right person, and I know from the beginning that you are this person to me. I've been a complete fool to walk away from you, beceause I can't live without you. All of this may sound corny and the words may not be new, but I can't find other words to tell you what's in my heart. Now I can tell you that, just like your father found in your mother, I found in you my one true love, so... June Aurélie Wellington, I know I may not be perfect, but... Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" I said in a shaky yet confident voice.
"Yes!"she shouted right away, and my eyes widened quite a bit.
"Yes?"I asked again for clarification, as a giant smile appeared on my face.
"Yes, yes, yes! Yes, Michael Jackson, I want to be your wife!" she exclaimed with a smile that mirrored mine, as joyful tears streamed down her gorgeous face.
With trembling hands, I slipped the diamond ring on her finger, and as expected, it looked wonderful on her.
Out of nowhere, June literally jumped in my arms, hugging my neck tightly as I spinned her around a little.
"Oh my God, I love you so much, Michael," she said in my ear, and I put her back on her feet.
I cupped her face in my hands, and crashed my lips onto hers for a long, and loving kiss that was full of relief. The weight on my shoulders was finally gone when she pronouced the word yes. Those three letters, this tiny word sent me on cloud nine, and I wasn't ready to come down.
I was there to stay.
"And what I love about me is you," I murmured on her lips, before giving them another peck. "I love you, baby girl."
As we were staring intensely in each other's eyes without speaking a word, we heard someone clearing their throat a few meters away from us. Pit was standing awkwardly there, the camera in his hands.
"Guys, I hate to be a party pooper, but Bill just called me, and we have to go," he declared, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Wait, you were there the entire time?" June asked, raising her eyebrows with that same smile that wouldn't leave her face for my biggest pleasure.
"Safety measures," he answered, and looked down at the camera in his hands,"okay, I was cameraman for the night too, so what?"
"Nothing, buddy. Thank you for everything. For helping Michael with that, for lying to my face for such a wonderful reason, and well, for recording it," she chuckled, and went to give a hug to her friend.
"You're welcome. Congratulations, Ms. soon-to-be-Jackson," I heard him say while he gave her a tight embrace. "And congratulations to you too, boss."
"Thanks, man," I grinned, approaching him to give him a friendly hug as well. "You're such a good friend."
"I try my best, but if we don't get out of here faster, then I'll be the friend that got you two mobbed," he joked, and we suppressed a chuckle. "Put your masks back on."
"I think people know it's us now. Didn't you see that giant sign? Because I'm pretty sure whole Manhattan saw it," June chuckled, wrapping her arms around my waist. "That was a beautiful sign, by the way," she added, getting on her tip toes to kiss my lips.
"Guys, really, let's go," Pit chuckled, throwing our masks at us. "Come on."
We rolled our eyes playfully and put back our masks before following Pit to the staircase.
"We're coming down, Bill. Be ready for us," Pit spoke in his walkie talkie as he opened the door that led to the staircase.
"After you, Ms. Soon-to-be-Jackson," I held the door open for June with a smirk on my face.
"Thank you, amore mio," she answered with the same smirk as me.
Once in the lobby of the building, I took June's hand in mine and she hugged my arm lovingly while we were walking side by side. The roaring of the people in front of the building didn't even faze me. I just wanted to enjoy the rest of the evening with June, and let her see the rest of the surprise.
We met Bill there, and just as Pit, he congratulated the both of us as he examined the ring that June proudly showed him.
"You finally have your rare pearl for yourself," Bill smiled at me, patting my shoulder, "don't fuck up again, now, would you?"
"Never again," I promised, smiling at Bill before looking down at my fiancée.
My fiancée. Simply thinking about calling June that made my heart flutter and my stomach errupt with butterflies. I'd been waiting on this moment ever since I met her and never realized it until that moment I got down on one knee.
Nothing is more precious than love, and to people who think it's hard to find, it's not. Love lays in everything, all you need to do is see it: it could be through your mother's eyes, in a simple thing as a flower, in the beauty of nature, in a baby's laugh, in a stranger's smile,... Love is everywhere.
At that particular moment, I realized how beautiful love was, and all that thanks to the way my fiancée was looking at me.
June's point of view
With still his tight grip on my hand, Michael and I, surrounded by Bill and Pit, left the building, and were welcomed by around twenty people outside. Police officers were there, holding the fans back so that we could safely come in the car. Flashes of cameras met our eyes as we kept walking to the car, but unexpectedly, Michael stopped walking and turned me around in a swift motion.
"Kiss me, and put your left hand on my cheek so that your ring visible," he whispered, looking at me deep in the eyes.
"W-What--"
Before I could ask any questions, Michael leaned in and gave me a soft kiss on my still numb lips. I did as I told me, and put my left hand on his right cheek, responding to his loving kiss.
I couldn't still wrap my mind around what happened. I never expected him to re-enter the fray with his proposal that fast, which explains the shock when he popped the question, but I was glad he did. The sincerity in his words and the look in his eyes showed me he was ready to take that step with me, and I was ready as well.
I was ready the very first time I laid my eyes on him.
Even though people around us kept on whistling, or screaming Michael's name over and over again, my only focus was on my fiancé and the loving treatement he was giving me.
What a tabloids' cover for tomorrow, I thought to myself.
"Guys, come on, let's get in the car. It's getting crazy here," Pit's voice interrupted us, and we pulled away from each other to look at him.
We smiled at each other, and finally headed to the car. On our way there, we waved at the crowd, and Michael threw a few 'I love you's' here and there before getting in the limo.
Once in there, we both removed our masks from our faces, and snuggled close to each other, as if we couldn't let go of one another anymore.
My hand on my man's thigh, I looked down at the huge diamond on my finger, and grinned down at it, as my head was rested on Michael's shoulder.
"Do you like it?" he asked, pecking my forehead.
"I love it. It's magnificent," I said in awe, examining it closely.
"Not as much as you."
"Cheesy," I teased, giggling.
"Come on, wasn't all of this cheesy?"
I withdrawn my head from his shoulder to look into his sparkly eyes and seriously said, "None of this was cheesy. It was romantic. Well, it was Michael Jackson's style romantic," I giggled slightly.
"What do you mean?"
"Baby, you just asked me to marry you on a giant sign that rolled down on the Flatiron's face. Who does that?"
"Uhhh, lemme think about this," he said, tapping his chin in thought. "Michael Jackson?"
"Exactly," I giggled, rubbing his thigh tenderly. "You're the only one crazy enough to think about this amazingly romantic way to do your proposal."
"So you liked it?"
"I loved it, and the fact that I didn't expect this to happen at all made it even better."
"Now you understand why I acted all weird today? I was really nervous," he admitted, playing with a strand of my hair. "A part of me thought you would say no."
"But I said yes," I reassured, and gave his lips a peck. "Let's pretend this was the first time. Let's forget I proposed once before, and you too. The most important thing now is that we're gonna get married, and have tons of babies, and be happy together until we die."
"How much babies?" Michael shyly asked, as I was sitting on his lap.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cute little nose, "How about... Seven? It's pictured as perfection in the Bible, and I know it's your favorite number."
"I was thinking about thirteen, but seven is perfect," he grinned, and laid a kiss on my neck as my eyes widened.
"You still want thirteen children? I thought that was a joke the first time you told me that!"
"I was serious, baby," he laughed a little.
"Don't you think about my poor vagina and uterus? I don't think it's even humanly possible to deliver that much babies."
"We can adopt," he shrugged, all serious. "I mean, I'd like to have a child coming from every continent."
I smiled at his sweetness, and kissed his lips another time, "We have a lifetime to think about this."
"I can't wait to spend it with you," he sweetly said, nuzzling his head in the crook on my neck.
I rubbed his hair back, and focused on the passing landscape outside. A frown formed on my face when I realized I didn't recognize the way back home.
"Michael, honey, I think Bill didn't take the right way to come back home," I declared.
"Who told you we were coming home?" he asked with a smirk.
"Where are you taking me, dear fiancé of mine?" I asked, giving him a look.
"It's the rest of the suprise, I can't tell you," he smiled. "The only thing I can tell you is that it's two hours away from here, so maybe we could--", he trailed off, attacking my neck with kisses again,"-- make this trip interesting."
"And what do you mean, interesting?" I played dumb, throwing my head back as Michael was kissing my neck and jaw.
"Like making out," he huskily said in my ear which sent chills down my spine. "You've been driving me crazy with that outfit of yours, I think I deserve a little something before I can take it of off your body later on tonight," he declared, helping me move my body so that I was straddling him. "What do you think?"
"I think I love the idea," I seductively said, putting my hands on his chest. "Shall we begin, now?"
Michael looked down at my hands on his chest, and kissed the ring on my finger before attacking my lips with a heated kiss. His hands travelled from my hips to my behind, as mine were tangled his messy jet black curls. We pulled away from each other a few seconds later and looked into each other's eyes.
"Will you be able to restrain yourself if we keep doing that?" Michael asked me, a little breathless.
"I don't think so. You?" I answered, brushing my thumb on his lips.
"Hell nah!"
Our eyes met again, and at the same time, we both started laughing out loud.
My baby. My fiancé.

"Babe, is the blindfold really necesserary?" I whined, letting him guide me to some place. "Where are we?" I asked, trying to peek through the blindfold.
I totally ignored where I was, and knowing Michael, I knew this was going to be a hella good surprise. I was just eager to know what it was.
"Hey, you cheater! No peeking!"
"Come ooooon," I drawled like an impatient child. "I wanna know now!"
"Wait a few more seconds," he giggled.
We kept on walking for a couple of minutes, when I heard a door open. A few seconds later, Michael took me off guard by taking me bridal style which caused me to let out a little cry of surprise.
"You could have at least tell me! I almost had a heart attack!" I whined again, hitting his chest-- well, what I thought was his chest, but turned out to be his neck. "Ooo, what's that lovely smell?"
"Cinnamon," he answered, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
The presumed door closed, and Michael kept walking with me in his arms, as mine were tightly wrapped around his neck.
"Where the hell are we?" I muttered to myself, taking the divine scent in.
When Michael finally put me down, he asked me to keep the blindfold a few more seconds, as he had some details to take care of.
The scent of cinnamon gave a reassuring atmosphere at the place and as it was much warmer, I presumed we were in some house.
I heard Michael's loafers hit the floor all around me, and I had no idea what he was doing, which increased my eagerness.
"Are you done yet? I'm getting impatient here," I called, putting my hands on my hips.
"Boo," he said from behind me, and I jumped a little, letting out a high pitched scream.
"For fuck's sake, Michael! Are you crazy?" I asked, a hand over my heart.
"Oh, someone's scared," he chuckled, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind me, and resting his head on my shoulder. "It'sbHalloween, baby. I had to scare you at least once."
"Whatever, but don't do that again," I warned, rubbing his forearm. "Now, can I see?"
"Oh yeah, sure. I forgot you were blindfolded," he giggled again, and finally he removed the damn thing from my eyes.
I blinked a few times, and examined the scene before my eyes closely. The room we were in had huge glass french windows that gave onto a flowery backyard. A fireplace was lit and enlightened the entire room as the darkness fell outside, and a huge mastress with rose petals and cushions on it was placed in front of the source of warmness. It looked a bit like what he did on the rooftop, but this time, it was cosier, and we were alone: just the two of us.
I walked closer from it, and noticed all sort of fruits and sweets beside the mastress, accompanied with a bottle of champagne and orange juice.
I turned my head to Michael with a smile.
"You did that?"
"Yes, that was all me," he shyly said, walking closer to me. "Sorry if it's not perfect, but--"
"It is," I cut him off, wrapping my arms around his thin waist. "What's the bag here for?" I asked, motionning a black bag with my chin.
"Changes. I thought we'd like to wear actual clothes tomorrow when we wake up," he giggled, rubbing my shoulders.
"We're spending the night here? Whose house is this? Where are we?"
"We're in the Hamptons, baby," Michael said, placing a kiss on my forehead.
"The Hamptons? Damn," I muttered, looking around the room again. "You rented this house?"
"Um, not exactly."
"What? Then whose house is this?" I asked, utterly confused.
He gave me a little, shy smile and looked at me with those sparkly eyes of his, and said, "Ours."
