after their little talk, they stayed in silence, just appreciating the other's warmth.

"the sky here is so pretty.." taehyung mumbled as he looked up to the stars lighting up the sky.

"what does your sky look like?" jeongguk asked and looked up too.

"it's just.. blue and then black, and then blue and then black again... there is nothing in our sky, not even a sun or a moon..." the merman sighed.

"then you should stay here sometimes and watch the stars with me."

"you need to sleep so you can do pretty pics jeonggukie!" taehyung said and playfully boopped jeongguk's nose.

"i'll just sleep here, your body is warm and comfortable!" the boy sat up next to him, but he still kept his hand in his.

"you should go pretty.. i don't want you to get in trouble." jeongguk said quietly. the water was quite far away from them so taehyung made the cutest grabby hands at jeongguk so he could carry him.

the boy crouched down and let taehyung slide his arms around his neck. he nuzzled his face in taehyung's pink hair which was dry by now, he let his hands grip on his naked waist lightly and just appreciated the moment.

he inhaled taehyung's scent before sliding his left arm under his tail and lift him up. he carried him to the water and carefully let him down.

they smiled fondly at each other and taehyung dived into the see to go back to his kingdom.

they kept seeing each other everyday and pretty much every beginning of the night. they just felt alone in the whole world, away from whatever could make them feel bad or upset when they were together.

a week later, taehyung had asked jeongguk to show him pictures of himself, when he was little or younger, so jeongguk brought few pictures of him to show the merman.

"hello beauty" he greeted before bringing taehyung's soft hand to his lips.

"hey handsome.." taehyung greeted back, his cheeks all pink.

jeongguk sat on his rock after taking off his shoes to let his feet get in the water. taehyung took his usual spot: he stayed in between jeongguk's thighs, his head eventually resting on one of them.

when they were talking jeongguk loved to play with his shiny hair, and taehyung wouldn't complain about getting all his attention.

"hey look" jeongguk said and took out printed pictures of his pocket. taehyung looked at his wet hands and back at jeongguk with round eyes, he didn't know if he could touch them with wet hands.

jeongguk smiled and dried his hands up with his sweater paws before giving the pictures back to taehyung.

the merman took the pictures in his now dried hands and admired a small jeongguk with a missing tooth. he had sparkles in his eyes as he watched the details of the pictures.

"you had tiny hands and tiny feet and tiny legs.. jeonggukie you were so tiny!!" he said with a wide smile as he looked back at the said male.

"how tiny were you when you were a baby merman?" jeongguk asked with a small smirk dancing on his lips.

the merman showed the size with his hands, which seemed to be approximately 40 centimeters. jeongguk cooed as he imagined a tiny and chubby pink merman swimming and spinning around in the water.

he smiled fondly at the merman who was still watching his pictures. he buried his face in taehyung's neck and watched the old pictures with him.

"oh.." taehyung said as he discovered a new picture. jeongguk's eyes widened and he felt his cheeks heat up as he realized he had forgotten to let the picture of him and taehyung at home, he had obviously printed it.

jeongguk looked away, pretending he didn't see anything when taehyung turned his face.

"jeonggukiiie.." taehyung teased. he brought his hand to cup jeongguk's face and turn it to make him look at him.

"it's cute." he added while brushing jeongguk's cheekbone with his thumb. the boy had turned a bright red from the closeness and his heart was pounding in his chest, but he wouldn't stop staring at taehyung for any reason.

"c-can i keep it ?" the merman asked and pulled away a tiny bit.

"no!" jeongguk replied quickly, a bit too quickly, so taehyung pulled away totally and dived back into the water after he had put the pictures down on the rock.

jeongguk immediately knew he had hurt taehyung and he immediately felt bad. he laid down on his stomach and reached for taehyung's face.

he cupped it to make him look up and he could see the hurt in his eyes, which made his heart hurt too. he caressed his cheekbones for a small while before taking a random picture of him in his hand.

"hey look.." he said to catch taehyung' attention. he put half of the picture in the water and pulled it out, to show the merman all the ink had faded and dripped down.

"i'll find a way to make sure it will stay intact in the water alright?" jeongguk said. taehyung had a pout on his face, it was like he was ashamed of not knowing the picture would fade in the sea and he felt bad.

"hey don't feel bad! you did nothing wrong, come here." jeongguk requested as he opened his arms to let taehyung slide his around his shoulders and burry his face in his neck.

jeongguk closed his eyes to appreciate their small moment even more.

"when are you gonna come swim with me..." taehyung whined in his neck.

jeongguk moved his hands to taehyung's back and started to trace his spine with his soft fingers. "i don't know beautiful, soon. but the water is still too cold right now.." he explained.

taehyung pulled away and pouted, he tugged lightly on jeongguk's hoodie. "but i want to swim with you and show you everything pretty in the ocean!" he had sparkles in eyes as he talked.

jeongguk couldn't help but cup his cheeks once again and admire taehyung's beauty, he really would never get bored of it.

he rested his forehead on taehyung's and whispered 'soon beauty, soon i promise.'
