Sighing
I sigh. Sometimes in frustration, sometimes in disappointment. I have noticed this recently. Lots of people sigh. I roll my eyes more. I have quite a good technique, which has developed through my adolescence.
I was in a queue in a shop, when I notice an old man ordering a lot of stuff. He could barely walk so I admired him for walking to the shops. It was like a spell had been cast over Ikea. Impatience. Sighing went around the shop. I thought it was rather rude. However apparently it's not rude in Britain. Britain doesn't complain. They sigh. If the bus is late, no complaint or protest will be made. No. A sigh and a glance of a watch will be made. This consists of a person tilting there head a bit and exhaling very loudly and unnecessarily. I'm partial to a few sighs every now and again but I still think it's rude.
I notice that sighing can sometimes be used to replace swearing. Instead of cursing shit or fuck someone would just sigh and instead of it coming across aggressive, sighing comes across as nicer.
Maybe I'll try that. I do find it hard not to swear but it has just become part of my vocabulary, much like sighing has for many.
