...
"What... What kind of ship is that?" Bulma questioned while staring up at the circular object jetting across the sky.
"It looks like a Saiyan ship..." Krillin responded, sounding very uneasy. "That's just great..."
"Now I'm scared!" Bulma whined, almost crying as she clutched her sides while panicking, "This can't be happening. It's just a dream... It's just a dream..."
"Gohan, mask your energy or he'll sense you." Krillin instructed while lowering his own power level.
"Right."
Krillin sighed anxiously while throwing his hat on the ground. "It's Vegeta. It's gotta be. He must be here for the dragonballs..."
"Did you just say Vegeta?! Ahhh!" Bulma screeched, making Krillin and Gohan cover their ears.
"Would you calm down!" Krillin snapped, casting an irritated glare towards the blue haired woman. "We won't have to worry about him sensing us if he can hear you yelling from a mile away!"
Bulma huffed, crossing her arms while frowning back at the shorter man before speaking to him in an annoyed tone. "Well, what are we going to do now?! We can't possibly fight Vegeta... And if he gets to the dragonballs before us, we're doomed!"
"There's no way we're gonna let him get to them before we do! Bulma, you've gotta leave now... Go back to Earth alone. We'll take care of things here. Just leave us your radar and Gohan and I will collect the dragonballs."
"But-"
"It's okay. Don't worry about us, I don't think we'll get into any trouble... We know what we're doing."
Gohan nodded, smiling at Bulma who looked very unsure about the whole thing. Finally she sighed, knowing they didn't really have many other options at the moment...
"Fine. I'll leave you guys here and go back to Earth... But I'm coming back with Goku." She shook her head, frowning at them both before continuing. "I think that you guys should know... That'll take two months. But what's two months anyways? Just sixty days! One thousand four hundred and forty hours. Eighty six thousand four hundred minutes. Five million one hundred eighty four thousand seconds, right?!" She finished, sounding more frazzled with each calculation.
"Yeah, it's only two months..." Krillin said as he scratched the back of his head nervously while him and Gohan laughed. They both stopped abruptly however, their faces changing to a more serious expression when they sensed two energies coming their way fast.
"Bulma! Get to the ship and-"
"Hey! You!"
Bulma jumped as she looked up, seeing two strange looking aliens floating above them as Gohan and Krillin got into a fighting stance.
"You three!" The purple skinned man threatened, aiming the gun on his arm at their small group. "Stay where you are and we'll shoot you!"
"Don't you mean OR we'll shoot you?"
"We know what we said!" The alien shot back, pointing his blaster towards them as he let loose a huge beam of energy, missing them all, but blasting a gigantic hole through the front of their ship.
"N-No..." Bulma mumbled, staggering towards the smoking remains in a daze. "Our ship... It's ruined!"
"Damn man, you couldn't hit the broad side of a space barn..." The blonde haired man mumbled while raising his eyebrows and staring at his partner.
"Well that's only because I'm too busy hitting the broad side of your mom!"
"Gohan, now!" Krillin whispered, taking advantage of their argument and using it to their benefit. Quicker than they could dodge, Gohan rushed forward and kicked the purple alien in the face, sending him flying backwards just as Krillin did the same thing to the other man. Both of them collided mid-air and crashed into the lake below.
"Come on Bulma!" Krillin ordered, hurrying over to where the the blue haired girl was before grabbing her by the shoulder. "We've got to find a better place to lay low..."
...
Meanwhile, somewhere else on Namek...
...
"Lord Frieza, the scouts we sent out have yet to report back..." Zarbon explained, talking into his headset as he continued flying. "In fact, their power readings just blipped off the radar screen not too long ago..."
Zarbon paused, listening before responding again. "Cui will take care of him in no time. His power level is much higher than Vegeta's... I don't think you have to worry about seeing that monkey-tailed abomination again."
Luna wondered who they were talking about as she continued to fly behind them, staring curiously at the mysterious orange ball Dodoria was carrying. Wow... It sure is pretty... She thought briefly, noticing that it had three stars on one side of it. I wonder what all the fuss is about these things...
The last village they went to, Zarbon had requested that Luna hang back, as he was unsure of the threat the people of this planet posed. He'd said something like, "I don't need you getting yourself killed before we can make use of you on this mission" before blasting away towards the village with Dodoria.
Tch, he's probably just sure I'll get in his way or something... Obviously, these people aren't too much of a threat, seeing as both of them came right back with that weird ball... Really thinking about it, Luna felt sad for the Namekians. That thing, whatever it is, is probably really import to them if Frieza wants it for himself... And if Zarbon was the one asking them to hand it over, they most likely gave it up without a fight. Doing anything else would just be suicide-
Zarbon spoke into his scouter again, bringing her out of her thoughts. "I just don't know what to make of it... The power reading went through the roof right around the time of battle, then it just disappeared again. There's someone else out there..." Another pause. "Yes sir, understood."
"Woman!" Zarbon called from up ahead before glancing in Luna's direction. "You will accompany us this time... Be on your best behavior."
With that, Zarbon and Dodoria rocketed forward, descending swiftly as Luna followed, noticing a cluster of white dome shaped buildings up ahead. Just as their feet touched the ground, a group of Namekians walked over to greet them.
"Hello there strangers..." The oldest looking member of the group spoke, understandably sounding a bit nervous. "What brings you to our fine village?"
Zarbon smirked, walking forward a few steps as Dodoria followed his lead, making everyone who was watching tense. "I'll get right to the point..." The teal skinned man stated blatantly, sending the older Namekian a sinister glare. "We're here for the dragonball on behalf of Lord Frieza... I'm assuming this village has one just like the last one we visited?" He finished while gesturing towards the ball under his comrade's arm.
A beep from Dodoria's scouter distracted Zarbon for a moment, causing him to glance his way. "What's wrong Dodoria? Does your scouter indicate something?"
The fat man shrugged, tapping the device a few times while frowning. "I don't know... For a second, I thought I detected a very weak power level... and then it just disappeared. It's probably just a bird or a small rodent. Nothing that should cause us any alarm."
On the hill above them Gohan and Krillin laid on the grass, exchanging looks of relief as they continued to watch the scene before them unfold. They had left Bulma in a cave not too far away while going out to search for the dragonballs... But they didn't expect to run into any of Frieza's men so soon...
"We gotta be careful..." Krillin whispered to Gohan as he nodded, a dissatisfied look on his face as the bald man continued. "If they spot us, we're as good as dead."
Both of them turned their attention back to the situation at hand, watching as the green haired man spoke to the Namekian Elder. "His power level is way above ours..." Gohan noted, talking in a hushed tone as he continued to observe. "So is that pink guy's... But the girl, she's right at our level. We might be able to take her out if we need to."
Krillin nodded, frowning a bit before adding in his own two cents. "Yeah, that's true... but Gohan, look at her... She kinda looks like she doesn't even want to be there..." He actually felt a little sorry for her as she looked about as terrified as they were. They both continued to watch as they saw said girl step forward, trying to reason with the Namekians.
"Please! Just give him what he wants..." She begged, ignoring Zarbon as he shot her a dirty look for speaking out of turn. "You're no match for either of them-"
Luna gasped in horror as Zarbon aimed his hand at the Namekian warrior standing in front of him, blasting him away like someone would swat away an annoying fly. The other two warriors looked at their fallen comrade with wide eyes, too shocked to speak for a moment before they regained their composure.
"Y-you bastard!"
"Oh my... How will I manage to control my fear at this power reading?" Zarbon asked sarcastically, grinning as he double checked his scouter. "I was really hoping for more of a challenge..."
"We shouldn't even bother fighting these guys..." Dodoria chimed in, laughing as he watched the two Namekian children shrink behind their father.
Luna couldn't speak. She was frozen with her hands covering her mouth as she watched the carnage that was taking place. All this time... I... I've been helping them do this... She realized, the thought making her sick to her stomach. She'd never actually seen what they were doing on their missions for conquest before. She'd only patched them up afterwards. But this was the first time she was face to face with the atrocities Frieza's men were committing.
Dodoria blasted another Namekian, killing him instantly while Zarbon laughed.
I can't watch this anymore... I have to do something to help these people... But what can I do?! Luna choked back a sob, shaking as she tried her hardest to will the tears back into her eyes.
"Krillin!" Gohan hissed, holding himself back as he looked on with wide eyes. "We have to help them! He's just killing them!"
"I know Gohan, I know... But what can we do? They're out of our league..."
Gohan growled, knowing his friend was right. But how could he just sit there and watch this massacre? His whole body was shaking with rage as he felt Krillin place a hand on his shoulder.
"Dodoria?" Zarbon questioned, getting his accomplice's attention from where the last warrior fell. There were only three Namekians left alive and two of them were children. Luna felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up as Zarbon continued. "Do you remember that first Namekian Elder we visited... Doesn't our new friend here remind you of him in some way?"
"Yeah, he thought he could play dumb too." Dodoria answered in his deep voice while grinning evilly, "He said he had no idea what the dragon balls were... Heh heh heh heh..."
Luna and the older Namekian locked eyes for a moment, the same expression of terror on their faces as he pleaded with her. "Please... I'm telling you, we don't-"
Just then a flash of light obstructed her vision as she gasped, caught off guard as she stumbled backwards, her scouter landing next to her in a smoking heap. Zarbon and Dodoria shared the same fate as she looked towards the source of the attack, noticing that one of the Namekian warriors was still alive... just barely.
"H-Hah... Ha..." He coughed weakly, purple blood dripping from his mouth as he smirked at Zarbon, "Now you... You won't b-be able to find any more of our v-villages..."
Zarbon cast a deadly glare at the green man laying in front of him before laughing loudly and raising a hand in his direction. "You have just made a grievous mistake..."
In a split second, he fired a massive blast of energy, almost knocking Luna over as she trembled slightly from the sheer power behind the attack. There was nothing left in the giant crater when the dust cleared.
You... Luna jumped as she looked around, not recognizing the voice that was speaking to her. Please, do not be alarmed... My name is Moori and I can tell that you are nothing like these monsters who have attacked us...
Luna stared wide eyed at the elder who was clutching his two children at his side while staring back at her intensely. A-Are you talking to me... In my mind? She thought, unsure if this was real or just a vivid hallucination due to the trauma she had just experienced.
Yes child, it is a gift among our people... The elder explained in a serious tone. I know nothing about you... But I can sense that you have a good heart and so I must request that you to do me this favor... I beg of you... Take my children and flee-
Luna screamed out loud as another blast shot forward to where Elder Moori was standing. When the clouds of smoke cleared... One of the Namekian children lay there un-moving.
"You... You killed my son!" Elder Moori cried as he pushed his other child behind him. "You monster!"
"Stop it!" Luna shrieked, marching up to Zarbon instinctively while moving to stand in front of him. "That's enough! Zarbon they're children! How could you-"
Before she could realize what was happening, she was sailing through the air before crashing into the side of one of the houses. Her face stung as she raised a hand to her cheek, sitting up slowly while staring back at the man who had hit her.
"I've had enough of this foolishness!" Zarbon yelled, completely outraged at what he had to deal with. "You will be punished when we return to the ship for your insubordination," He stated, loud enough so that Luna would hear him. "And you..." He continued while addressing the Namekian, "You will stop these games and hand over the dragon ball at once!"
Elder Moori nodded, grimacing at the ground before revealing the giant orange relic before handing it over. "Here... Take the ball and leave us be." He finished dejectedly, glancing at his deceased child as he spoke sadly in his native language.
"Thank you for being so cooperative..." Zarbon sneered, tossing the ball to Dodoria as he grinned. "Oh, and just one more thing... Could you point us in the direction of the next village? You seem to have destroyed our scouters-"
"That wasn't part of our deal!" Moori argued, clenching his fists as Zarbon gave Dodoria a nod. The fat man grinned sadistically, dropping the ball on the grass as he appeared behind the elder in an instant. Luna opened her mouth to scream, but it was all over before a single sound could escape her throat.
Dodoria snapped the older Namekian's neck, killing him instantly before dropping him on the ground as his young child watched, shaking in fear as the pink man made his way towards him next.
"Some you win, some you lose..." He laughed, raising his hand as something inside Luna snapped.
She saw herself for a moment, in a flashback from four years ago. That child looked just like she had felt when Frieza killed her mother... Right before her eyes. Moori's words echoed in her mind as she knew she couldn't just sit by and do nothing... She had to try. Even if she died trying, at least she would die trying to do the right thing...
"Ha!" Luna shouted while blasting forward, catching Dodoria by surprise as she kicked him right in the face with all her strength. Before he could recover, she grabbed the tiny green child and blasted off, flying as fast as she could go.
