Hey, Princess
Me- Ooh! I have an idea for a new book!
Me to Me- Don't start another book. You can barely keep up with one of them. You haven't even updated any of them in forever. You can't even stick to the schedule you put up. This is a bad idea. You can't even write. Don't do this to yourself.
Me anyways- NeW bOo0k.
So yeah. I'm gonna write one-shots based off of songs. It's gonna be Miraculous themed, of course. Here we go.
ps: this book will NOT be updated often. only if i have a request/ idea
Song: Hey, Princess by Allstar Weekend
. . .
"So, Marinette," Alya said, "The school dance is coming up. You planning on asking anyone? Maybe a certain someone?"
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Please. Even if I had the guts to ask Adrien to the dance, I still wouldn't. Besides, someone's probably already asked him."
Alya grinned. "Nope! I asked him, he's still available! C'mon! It's our senior year! You've been pining for him for forever. You've been single for forever. Are you aware that almost every guy in our grade has had a thing for you? And you turned them all down! For him! I'll be damned if—"
"ADRIKINS!" Alya was cut off by an ungodly scream that made dogs cover their ears. Banshees cowered at the sound of her voice. It's still a mystery to scientists today as to how a single human being can make such a sound. "The dance is next week and I still don't have a date! Which is a huge surprise, really. Who would want to miss a date with me? Anyways! I heard that you don't have anyone to go with, either! Such a shame! You know what would be great? If we went together! Whaddya say?"
Adrien scratched the back of his neck and avoided her gaze. "Actually, Chlo, I was—"
Chloe interrupted him with another screech and flung herself upon him. "Ahh! Thank you, Adrien! I knew I could count on you! Pick me up at seven, 'kay? See ya!" Chloe detached herself from Adrien's neck and sashayed down the hall with Sabrina close behind.
Alya looked at her best friend who was gazing at Adrien. "Oh, Marinette, I'm sorry."
Quickly, Marinette focused her attention to her locker and tried to open the lock. "No, no it's ok. I t-told you that he would have a date. Um, I forgot...I forgot my locker code again. What i-is it?"
With a sigh, Alya removed Marinette's shaking hands from the lock and unlocked it herself. "Do you want to do something else? You, Nino, and I could have a movie marathon at my place. We always have fun at those."
"No," Marinette whispered, "You and Nino have been gushing about the dance for ages. It's wouldn't be fair to you guys. I'll find something to do. " The bell rung and Marinette grabbed her books. "See you at lunch." As she brushed past, Alya heard Marinette sniff.
. . .
After class, Alya and Marinette met at the lockers so that they could walk to the lunch room together. "How are you feeling?" Alya asked.
Marinette looked down. "I'm trying not to think about it. So far, I've been good. How was physics?"
Alya huffed. "Oh, it was great! I got a D minus on my last test, Mlle. Mendeleiev yelled at me in front of everyone for not answering the question correctly, and Chloe got an A plus. An A freaking plus! I swear, she's using her dad to get good grades. I know for a fact that she didn't study for a minute."
"Yikes. Sorry, Als. Wish I was with you."
"It's fine. God, I'm starving. D'you know what's for lunch today?"
"Yesterday's leftovers. Mystery meat with gravy that looks like cat's barf, and stale brownies for dessert."
Alya gagged. "Ew. Can I feed off of you?"
Marinette pulled a brown paper bag from her backpack. "I already packed you a separate lunch. Complete with those crepes that you love so much."
"Yay! Thanks, Mare. I love you." Alya sprinted into the lunch room and rushed to where Adrien and Nino were already sitting. "Guess who made her best friend a delicious lunch? she sang, With crepes!" Alya shoved the bag in their faces as Marinette sat down across from Adrien.
"Really?" Nino whined. "Marinette, not fair!"
Marinette smiled. "You got lucky today. Alya, sit down." Marinette tugged on her friend's shirt who was still wagging the bag in front of them.
Nino cocked his head in confusion. "How am I lucky?" Marinette pulled out two bags and handed one to each boy. Nino gasped. "I am lucky!" He pulled out a macaron and started munching on it. "I love your baking, Marinette."
"I second that," Adrien said as he bit into a croissant. "Your baking is legendary."
Marinette looked down at her hands. "Oh, nothing i-it's.Er...it's something. Um, n-nothing."
Alya came to Marinette's rescue. "She means thank you."
Adrien nodded. "You're welcome."
"Anyways, Marinette, I need your advice on something. It's at my locker. Can we go check it out?
Marinette nodded. "Uh...sure?"
"Great!" Alya seized her hand and yanked her out of the chair. "Sorry, boys. We'll be back."
"That's fine," Nino said, "Just don't get mad at me if a few of your crepes are missing."
Alya narrowed her eyes. "Don't even try, Lahiffe. I'll know if you even touch the bag." Without another word, Alya dragged Marinette away from the table and toward her locker. "I thought you got better at talking to him?" Alya hissed. "What was all that stuttering about?"
Marinette buried her face in her hands. "I don't know! I have gotten better at talking at him. I-it's just that when he compliments me, I get all flustered and I'm thirteen again! Oh, Alya, I'm hopeless."
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you are NOT hopeless. One day, you WILL tell Adrien your true feelings. And you WILL get the happy ending you deserve. You. Are. Not. Hopeless."
"I am not hopeless," Marinette whispered. "I'm not hopeless. I'm not hopeless!"
Alya grinned. "That's right!" she said, "Now let's get back in there and talk to Adrien like a normal person!"
Marinette pumped her fist in the air. "Yeah!" Confidently, Marinette and Alya marched back into the cafeteria. When they reached the table, they saw Nathaniel talking to Adrien and Nino. "Hey, Nath."
Nathaniel flinched "Oh, um, h-hey Marinette."
"What's up?"
"Oh, um. I was, um, wondering i-if you would like to go to the— the dance with me."
Marinette was speechless. Nathaniel still liked her? What happened to Marc? She decided to voice her thoughts. "Uh...what happened to Marc?"
Nathaniel ducked his head. "Oh, sorry. It was silly for me to think that—"
"No, no, no! I-I'm fine with going with you I was just curious."
His turquoise eyes darkened. "A girl asked him to the dance and he was too ashamed of me—of us— to tell her no."
Marinette gasped. "Oh, Nath, that's...I'm so sorry."
"It's fine. It's just that," Nathaniel blushed, "I-I already bought my suit and a lot of preparation has gone into this stupid dance and...we would be going as friends, of course."
Marinette gave him a small smile. "Of course I will go with you."
The Redhead beamed. "Thank you, Mari!"
"Anytime. Uh, what colors are you wearing?"
Nathaniel shrugged. "Just a normal black tux. I'll have a turquoise tie, though."
Marinette nodded. "Good choice. It'll really bring out your eyes."
"Thanks. My mom said the same thing. What time should I pick you up?"
"I really don't live that far from school...How about seven fifty-five? Unless you want to go to dinner first then seven o'clock."
"I have a reservation at some ridiculously overpriced restaurant so I'm definitely picking you up at seven. Thank you so much, Marinette. You're honestly the best." Nathaniel gave her a hug. "I'll text you extra details later. See you around!"
Marinette waved and sat down. "Guess I'm going to the dance."
Alya and Nino beamed. Adrien was silent.
. . .
Adrien threw down his pencil and sighed. "Ugh, I can't concentrate."
Plagg flew in circles around his holder's head. "Not my problem," he said.
"It's just...I was supposed to ask Marinette to the dance."
"But you accepted Mlle. Mayor's offer."
"She never gave me a chance to deny it!"
"Well, you have her number, don't you? Text her and say you had other plans."
Adrien shook his head. "You don't know Chloe," he said, "It's too late to back out of anything now."
Plagg shrugged and ate a slice of camembert. "I don't think so. But whatever. Since when do you have a crush on Pigtails?"
"One, her name is Marinette. Two, she hasn't worn pigtails since freshman year."
"You didn't answer my question," Plagg sang.
"I don't know! She was growing on me, I guess. I just started noticing different things about her that I love a-and it just...grew from there. It's obvious that Ladybug wants nothing to do with me so—"
"Woah, woah, woah, kid. You seriously haven't noticed Ladybug becoming more and more comfortable with you? You've been partners for what? Five or six years? If anything, now is the moment to go after her!"
Adrien shrugged. "I think I'll always love Ladybug. But a new person has caught my eye. I think it's finally time for me to change targets," Adrien mused, remembering something that an old friend had once told him.
Plagg scoffed. "Now you're taking Little-Miss-Fencer's advice? You do know that she meant herself, right?"
"Of course I do. I'm not that dense—"
"Oh, yes you are, kid."
"I'm going to ignore that. As I was saying, it's never too late to take someone's advice. Besides, Kagami moved on from me."
"Whatever. So what do you plan to do?"
Adrien frowned. "Go to the dance with Chloe, I guess."
Plagg smirked. "Good luck, kid."
Wordlessly, Adrien picked up his pencil and tried to focus on his homework.
. . .
"Tikki, can you believe the dance is tomorrow," Marinette beamed as she worked on the final touches to her dress. "I'm so excited!"
Tikki smiled. "Even if you're not going with Adrien?"
Marinette's smile dropped a bit. "It's not as exciting as that, but I'll still see him. And besides, Nath is a great friend. I know we'll have fun." Right as she said that, Marinette heard a dull thump above her. "Hey, Chat," she said as she opened the trapdoor.
Chat Noir grinned. "Hey, Princess. How'd you know it was me?"
Marinette started focused her attention back on her dress. "Because you stop by so often that I've been able to tell the difference between a "Chat thump" and a "regular thump."
"And what does a Chat thump sound like?"
Marinette smirked. "Loud, obnoxious, cocky, and annoying."
"Meow-ch."
"Just kidding," Marinette said as she looked up from her work. "Maybe. What are you doing here?"
"Really, Marinette? I come here almost every other day."
Marinette shrugged. "That's true."
Chat walked over to where Marinette was sitting. "What are you working on?"
"A dress for a school dance tomorrow. I'm almost done with it."
"Knowing you, it'll look fantastic. Gabriel Agreste himself will probably want to see your designs."
"Yeah, right." Marinette blushed. "No one can top Gabriel Agreste."
"I'm not so sure. If you finish soon, do you think this alley cat can see you in that dress?"
Marinette shook her head. "Not tonight. I want to wear it for the first time tomorrow. Alya hasn't even seen the sketches for this. So no, not even cute kitties like you can get an exception."
Chat Noir grinned. "Aw, Princess has finally declared her love for me."
"As if. I only called you cute. Besides, I already love someone else." Marinette glanced at a yellow and blue charm bracelet tied to her wrist. "I daresay that he's cuter than you."
"You wound me. Are you sure I can't get a sneak peek?"
"You'll have to crash the dance if you want to see it, Kitty."
"Then crash the dance I will. Don't be surprised when I storm in the castle to whisk you away."
"Even if you did come to the dance, You wouldn't be able to 'whisk me away,' Chaton. I have a date."
Chat stiffened but Marinette didn't seem to notice. "With who?" He asked slowly.
"Nathaniel. He's a really good friend and he needed someone to go with." Chat Noir let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding? Why was he being so uptight? He knew why Nath asked Marinette to go to the dance. Besides, Marinette wasn't his girlfriend or anything. Just because he had a small crush on her didn't mean he had any right to act possessive. "Are you ok?"
Chat blinked. "Yeah. Sorry. Got lost in my thoughts. Anyways, Princess, it's been a nice Chat, but now I have to disappear into the Noir."
Marinette giggled. The sound was light and airy, and it was music in his ears. "That was so bad, Chat. Please never make that joke again." She gasped between giggles. "I'll take a week's worth of any other pun if you never make that joke again. It doesn't even make sense!"
"It makes perfect sense." Chat grinned. "A week's worth of puns, huh? It's a deal."
"Don't make me regret this, Kitty."
"Can't make any purr-omises, Purr-incess," Chat Noir smirked as he made his way to the trapdoor.
Marinette rolled her eyes. "And it's already started. Hey, if you do crash the dance, my parents are catering so feel free to have a croissant or two while you entertain your fans."
"Will do," said Chat before jumping effortlessly on the bed and out the trapdoor.
. . .
"Adrikins!" Chloe screamed. "You look so handsome!"
Adrien smiled softly. "Thanks, Chlo. You look beautiful." It was true. Chloe looked stunning. She was wearing a silk yellow mermaid gown that hugged her curves perfectly. The left side of the dress had a slit that ended just above her knee. The dress was accented with a belt completely covered in black diamonds. She wore a black diamond necklace that matched her belt and yellow and black drop earrings. She wore some simple, black, four-inch heels that gave her an extra boost in height. She had also abandoned her typical JoJo Siwa ponytail and her hair hung loosely around her shoulders and curled softly at the ends. Her makeup was surprisingly simple. She had on bronze eyeshadow and a simple winged eyeliner. Her lips were glossed and her cheeks were had a rosy shine to them. Say what you will about Chloe Bourgeois, but she knew how to look good.
"Oh, Adrikins," Chloe preened. "You always know what to say."
Adrien sighed. It was going to be a long night.
. . .
When Marinette and Nathaniel finally walked into the room, Adrien felt his breath catch. Marinette was gorgeous. She was wearing a white and turquoise A-line dress with a bateau neckline. The sleeves were made of white lace and went down to her wrists. The fronts of the sleeves extended towards her hands and were looped around her middle fingers. The top was made of the same material as the sleeves and had a cotton base to cover her skin. The skirt was the same shade as Nathaniel's eyes and was made of satin. It ended just above her knee and Adrien could see some beading at the edge of the skirt. Her hair was down in a simple half up half down braided do but she made it look elegant. She had on some light makeup and turquoise flats. Time stopped for Adrien, and he couldn't keep his eyes off her. She laughed at something Nathaniel had said and Adrien felt his heart clench. He wanted to make her laugh like that. "—Kins? Hello? ADRIEN!" Adrien blinked and looked down to see Chloe's face staring up at him. Despite her heels, Adrien still stood a good three or four inches above her.
"Yes, Chloe?"
"My feet hurt. Let's sit down."
"Sure." Adrien made his way over to where Alya and Nino were sitting. And where Nathaniel and Marinette were sitting.
"Adrien!"
At the sound of Chloe's whine, Adrien turned. "What?"
"Why are you going to sit with them? There are perfectly good seats over here. And away from that—"
"C'mon, Chlo. They're my friends too. Please?"
Chloe huffed. "Fine but only because Glasses One and Two are leaving. I suppose I can deal with Red and Dupain-Cheng." It was true. Nino was heading over to the DJ booth and Alya was accompanying him.
Adrien grinned. "Thanks, Chloe." Adrien made his way over to the table where Marinette and Nath were. "Hey, guys."
"Hey," Nathaniel said.
"Hi, Adrien." Marinette waved.
"Dupain-Cheng. Red." Chloe sniffed.
Nathaniel rolled his eyes. "We have names, you know."
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing," he sighed.
"That's what I thought."
"Chloe," Adrien said. "How about you sit down? Don't your feet hurt?"
"Not anymore. Oh, look. There's Sabrina." Without another word, Chloe walked off.
"Nathaniel!" Everyone turned their heads to see Marc walking towards the table. "Nathaniel, I need to talk to you."
Nathaniel's expression turned icy. "Really, now?"
Marinette stiffened. "Uh...I have...I'm gonna...Go g-get...a drink. Adrien, do you want to come with me?"
Adrien jumped out of his seat. "Uh...Sure," he said.
"No," Nathaniel said. "You guys don't have to leave."
Marc's shoulder's sagged. "Nath..."
"They're not leaving, Marcus." Marinette stiffened. She didn't know that his full name was Marcus. By the look on Adrien's face, he didn't know, either.
Marc sighed. "Fine. But please. Just hear me out. Please?" Nathaniel nodded. "When Stephanie asked me to the dance, I said yes."
"Yes, Marc, you did."
"But you don't know why," Marc said hurriedly. "You know how my parents are. They're not as...They're old-fashioned. Steph and I planned that we would be going out as each other's "dates" and then when we actually arrive at the dance, Stephanie goes over to her friends and...we spend the rest of the night together."
Nathaniel's icy resolve melted. "Really?" he whispered. "You're not ashamed..."
"Of course not! Nath, how could you think that?"
"I'm...I—I'm sorry. " Nathaniel ducked his head. "I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions."
"No, It's not just you. Stephanie and I should've talked to you about the plan first. So...do you..."
Nathaniel smiled. "Yeah." The pair started to leave before Nathaniel stopped abruptly. "Wait, Mari. It's fine if..."
"Of course. I'm glad you resolved everything. Have fun." Marc and Nath grinned and walked off to the dance floor, hand in hand.
"That was sweet," Marinette said.
"Yeah. Hey, uh—" Adrien was suddenly cut off by the Prada-wearing devil stomping towards them.
"Sabrina is such a wet blanket." Chloe huffed as she plopped herself in a chair.
"I'm sorry to hear that," said Marinette dryly.
"Don't start with me, Dupain-Cheng."
"Whatever do you mean?"
"I, uh...gotta go to the restroom." Adrien quickly said, trying to avoid a fight.
Chloe smiled at Adrien. "Of course, Adrikins. Take all the time you need. You probably have to go because Marinette's horrible cookies made you sick."
"Hey!"
"I-I'm sure it wasn't the cookies," Adrien said as he got up from his seat. "I'll be right back."
. . .
"This is my chance, Plagg! Nath and Marc made up, meaning that Marinette is most likely going to be left alone for the rest of the dance and that's not ok. She'll be bored! Chat Noir can do a great job of entertaining her.
"Uh-huh," Plagg hummed. "And what about Chloe? She's expecting you to come back soon. What's she gonna think when Adrien never comes back out?"
Adrien sighed. "I'll go back out there and say something about Father?"
"Oh, Adrien Agreste is just breaking all the rules tonight, isn't he? Ditching his date, lying to his date, the list just keeps on growing, doesn't it?'"
"Shut up, Plagg. I feel bad enough already. But...Marinette..."
"Kid. If you feel like you have to be with Pigtails right now, then go be with her. Follow your heart. As long as you don't hurt Chloe, then everything is fine. "
Adrien stared at his kwami in amazement. "Wow...Plagg. That was the wisest thing I've ever heard you say."
Plagg scoffed. "Oh, please. That can hardly be counted as wise. Being wise is Tikki's job. She would've said to find a way to spend time with Pigtails another time to avoid lying to Chloe. But I'm not her so I say it's fine to break the rules a lil' bit. Now go do your plan and get me some camembert."
Adrien grinned. "Thanks, Plagg. I owe you."
"Heck yeah, you do."
. . .
Adrien walked out of the bathroom and walked back to the table to see Chloe and Marinette glaring at each other. "Uh...hey, girls."
The girls didn't reply. They stared each other down with looks that could wither a tree. Thankfully, neither Chloe or Marinette were trees. Adrien tried to get their attention again. "Marinette? Chloe?"
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Chloe turned her attention to Adrien. "Oh, Adrikins!" Marinette snorted and Chloe shot her a quick glare. "Adrikins," she continued, "This—this brat insulted me!"
"I did not!" Marinette exclaimed. "I only made a comment on her hair."
"You asked me if I finally realized that my ponytail was killing my brain cells!"
"Only after you told me that the only thing I was good at was ruining everything I touch!"
"I was just stating facts."
"You—"
"I gotta go home!" Adrien blurted. The girls looked at Adrien in confusion. Adrien, surprised at his own outburst, stood in silence for a moment before speaking again. "U-uh...Yeah. My father...called me? And said I had...He said that I had to go home. So, yeah. Um. Bye, girls."
Chloe sniffed and wiped away a fake tear. "Goodbye, Adrikins! I'll miss you. Don't worry, I'll call you tonight, okay?"
Adrien awkwardly smiled. "Uh, sure. Bye."
. . .
When Adrien was out of sight, he buried his face in his hands and groaned while Plagg laughed. "Aw, man, Kid! That was—That was hilarious! Oh, man. I'd give up two days worth of camembert just to see that again! How could you have been so awkward? And then—"
Adrien, having had enough of the teasing, quickly shut his kwami up with an irritated "Plagg, claws out!" After regaining back his pride (it took a while), Chat Noir took a deep breath, opened the school doors, and strolled in with all the swagger he could muster. "Good evening, Mademoiselles and Monsieurs. Sorry to intrude on your wonderful evening but I have a certain Princess to pick up."
Chloe flung her self upon Chat. "Chat Noir! What a surprise! Thank you for saving me from this horrible dance!"
Chat grimaced and gently pried Chloe off of him. "Sorry, Mlle. Chloe. But I'm here for a different princess." He made direct eye contact with Marinette. "What do you say, Mari? Will you let me whisk you away now?"
Marinette's eyes widened. Slowly, she rose from her seat and walked over to Chat Noir. The room was dead silent and she could feel everyone's eyes on her. She took a deep breath and smirked at her friend. "Where to first?"
. . .
"You dumb cat!" Marinette shouted as she punched his arm.
Chat rubbed his arm. For someone so tiny and kind, she knew how to throw a punch."Ow! What was that for?"
"I didn't think you would actually come!"
"Well, it's not entirely my fault, is it?" Chat grinned. "You did come with me, after all."
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. What are we doing?"
"Whatever you want?"
"Whatever I want."
Marinette narrowed her eyes and smiled. She leaned in close and tapped him on the shoulder. "Tag," she whispered. "You're it." Quickly, she sprang away and started running. Chat just stared after her, dumbstruck. Marinette turned around and started jogging backward. "What's wrong? You said whatever I want, right?"
Chat smirked. "If you want to lose, sure." He broke out into a run, catching up to her pretty quickly. "Hey, Princess."
Marinette shrieked in surprise and ran faster. That did nothing. Chat stretched out his arms and scooped her up into a princess carry. "Hey!" she laughed, "Put me down!"
"Nope. I'll never let you down. Where to next?"
Marinette thought for a moment. "Let's go home."
Chat's ears flattened. "Really? You have the whole night to do anything you want, and you want to go home now?"
"Aw, Kitty. Don't worry. I have plans. Now, take me home, please."
. . .
As Chat waited on the balcony for Marinette to do...whatever she was doing, he thought about how he fell for Marinette. The realization hit him like a ton of bricks. He remembered watching Marinette help out a classmate with her homework. Which lead to him think about how helpful she was, and how kind, and giving, and selfless, and confident, and...and...Chat Noir blushed. He had it bad. He should tell her how he felt. But wait, he knew that she liked someone else. She wouldn't say yes, would she? Marinette's voice shook him from his thoughts.
"You ready?"
Chat turned around to see Marinette holding a backpack. "Yep." He saluted. "Where now?"
"I saw Andre's ice cream cart on the way here."
"Then let's get some ice cream. Hop on." He squatted so that Marinette could climb on his back. Once she was on, he stood up and jumped from the balcony.
. . .
Marinette was glad for all the times she rode on Chat's back for some midnight adventure. The first few times, it was terrifying. But now, it was like riding a bike. She didn't need to think twice about it. She scanned the city (Chat had used his pole to look for Andre at a higher level) and spotted a golden cart with a giant model of ice cream on the roof of it. "I think I see it!"
Chat nodded. "Going down!" He leaned forward a bit and they fell a few feet in front of Andre's ice cream cart. Walking towards it, he greeted Andre. "Hello, Andre!"
"Oh! The great Chat Noir! To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Chat Noir held up two clawed fingers. "Two cones, please. One for me and one for to the Princess." He gestured to Marinette who was walking slightly behind him.
"But of course!" Andre started to make their ice cream before pausing. "What's this? Andre sensing a change! Let's see...Peach pink like his lips, and mint like his eyes. And dark chocolate chip for his suit! Here, Marinette, your lover certainly seems cute!"
Marinette reached for the ice cream and smiled. "Thanks, Andre."
"Now for Chat Noir. Sweet strawberry just like her, blackberry for her hair, and blueberry ice cream for her stare!"
Chat Noir smiled. "Thanks, Andre. How much?"
"Don't worry about the price. Love has no cost!"
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, my boy. Enjoy your night!"
The two bid Andre goodbye and walked off. "That's weird," Marinette murmured. "I usually just get the peach and the mint. What's the dark chocolate chip for?"
Chat Noir blushed. "I d-don't know. I usually get, um, strawberry and chocolate chip."
"For Ladybug?"
"I guess."
"I wonder what changed for us?"
"Yeah, I wonder. So!" Said Chat, changing the subject. "What's next?"
"I brought some movies," Marinette pointed to the backpack. "Let's watch under the stars. I've always wanted to do that."
Chat Noir grinned. "Then let's do it! How about under that tree?"
"Let's go." Marinette grabbed Chat's hand and led him to the tree.
"What are we watching?"
"Lady and the Tramp."
"A classic."
Marinette took out the DVD and a portable DVD player. She popped the disc in and settled next to Chat Noir, leaning against his shoulder. Chat stiffened, and he willed his heart to stop beating so fast. When the beginning credits showed up, Chat nudged her and smiled softly. "Hey, what if I asked you out? On a real date?"
Marinette paused the movie. "W-what?"
"You probably know this already, because I doubt I was good at hiding it, but I like you. Like, as more than a friend. So what do you say? When the movie ends, we could be..." Chat Noir trailed off.
Marinette sighed. "I...I didn't know. I didn't think that a superhero like you would like someone like me."
"Are you kidding me? You're like Snow White. In blue jeans. Or pink jeans?"
Marinette laughed. "Oh, God. I remember those things. I haven't worn pink jeans in so long." Her laughter faded. "Do you really like me like that?"
"Of course I do! So what do you say, Princess?"
Marinette looked away. "I-I'm sorry, Kitty. But I like someone else."
Chat Noir's ears flattened. Still, he put on a smile. "Well, could I ask who my competition is?"
"It's...You can't laugh, ok? It's Adrien. Adrien Agreste." Chat Noir gasped. Marinette kept talking. "I know what you're gonna say! That it's just a celebrity crush, or that I just like him because he's a model, but that's not it! Believe it or not, he goes to my school and we're friends. I actually know him. He's kind, compassionate, caring, and just...pure. And we'll probably never be a thing, but I'm still holding onto hope."
Chat Noir couldn't believe his ears. His competition...was him? He tilted his head back and laughed. Marinette pouted.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing, Princess. Let's watch the movie."
"This won't ruin our friendship, right?"
Chat gave her a look. "Of course not! I'll have to try harder to get you to like me, yes, but we'll always be friends. I can promise you that."
Marinette smirked. "That's reassuring. I have to warn you, though. I've liked Adrien for years and I'm still going on strong. The stars would have to align for me to be yours."
Chat Noir turned his attention back to the movie. "Don't worry. The stars will align."
He was going to make her his. One way or another.
