It was Beef, Cleo, Iskall and Ren who were there first. Shark Iskall had made a pond for himself, grey-yellow finned arms over the edge. Tiger Cleo was looking equally intimidating with their claws and fangs, orange-furred arms crossed. Ren the Spaniel was pacing, keeping distance, as was llama Beef, who was exploring what strange llama noises he could create.

'Beef, can you stop doing that?' Cleo growled. 'It's annoying.'

'I'm making the most of it! It's actually kinda fun to be a...'

Beef cut off suddenly at a 'wooooooooo!' sound behind which turned out to be cheetah Jevin beating hyena Pearl in a race. Further behind, the noticeably scaly lizard Tango was trying to discuss the unexpected advantages of having a tail with sheep-moth Zedaph, too busy fluttering around on his new pink and yellow wings to listen.

'This is AMAZING!' he yelled. 'WOOOOOO!'

'You know, I could grow to enjoy this...' Jevin admitted. His blue slime skin was now covered in black cheetah spots, with yellow slime around his slime cheetah ears and probably his slime cheetah tail too. 'I can go so fast now!'

'Have you tried speed potions?' Zedaph asked, landing. Jevin's excitement grew.

'Man, that would be SO FUN!'

'Dudes... I now wish I'd been given more than curlier hair and different dog ears...' Ren sighed. 'This looks so exciting...'

'It's awesome, man. I can run incredibly fast... There was no way Pearl would've beaten me...'

'Hey! I'll bite ya if you say you're better than me again!' The hyena hybrid threatened, baring sharp teeth. Even her laugh was now a creepy hyena one. Ren stepped further away.

'Where are the other hermits?'

'Above!' Came a yell from Hypno, testing out his new swallow wings. 'Look at these!'

'Ooooh! Fancy!' Ren gasped. 'How fast can you fly?'

'Haven't tried... hey Jev, loving the style.'

'We're not talking until I know which one of us is faster, man.' Jevin crossed his arms.

'Are you racing? Can I join you?' xB asked, bounding over before splashing into Iskall's pond. The dolphin hybrid made a few laps of it, already used to his tail from his previous existence as half-guardian.

'We'll create a huge track for us all. You in the water, me running and Hypno flying... where ARE the others? Is there another meeting?'

'It is NOT A CLOWN TRAIN!' Scar yelled back from deep within his train. 'It's a PERFECTLY RESPECTABLE ZOO TRAIN, CUB!'

'The longer you take, the more we'll call it a clown train,' Grian replied, arms crossed. 'We're all half-animal. You don't have to hide the fact you're a pigeon from us.'

'I'm not a COMMON PIGEON!' Scar gasped, clearly offended. 'I'm a beautiful peacock, I'll have you know!'

'You're a peacock, man?!' Cub couldn't fight a laugh. 'Yeah... I can see that.'

'If you're so beautiful, why are you hiding?! I have enormous teeth and a stupid tail!' half-beaver Impulse protested.

'I'm getting into my outfit!'

'You don't need an outfit to be beautiful, Scar,' Grian insisted. 'I've not changed.'

'Yeah, but you're a cat. You actually look good as a half-cat in a sweater.'

'Cub, I'll look good in a sweater if I was half-cod.'

'Hey! That's offensive to fish people!' Gem the orca protested. 'You'd make a lovely cod, Grian.'

'Technically, orcas are mammals,' Cub explained. 'So they're not fish.'

'I can be whatever I want to be, thank you very much!'

'But... biology says that...'

'I'm joining Iskall, xB and probably Etho as being a fish person!'

'They're not fish either! Dolphins are mammals, and octopi are cephalopods! Iskall... I think Iskall is actually a fish?'

'Yeah! Listen to Cub! Octopi are cephephapho- hang on...' Scar paused, thinking through the long word. 'A cephepholo... Octopi are cephelophololololoplods!'

'cephelopholololoplod.'. Yep,' Grian confirmed with a laugh. '100% correct...'

'What's a cephelopholoplod?' Skizz asked, the chimpanzee hybrid returning from falling out a tree.

'A new Scar word.' Gem explained. 'Cub was ruining my dreams of getting to be a fish.'

'You- Gem... Mumbo, Impulse back me up... are whales fish?'

'I WANNA BE A FISH!' Gem yelled back. 'FISH ARE COOL!'

'I've seen enough fish for one lifetime without my neighbour being one too!'

'Ya mean, another fish,' Skizz said in a confident mafia-esque voice. 'Ya can't forget about Big Salmon this quickly.'

'Big Salmon?!' Grian started laughing. Cub joined in, the sound combining with whatever natural fox noises he could now create and making little yips.

'I now officially introduce to you...' Scar called from within his train. 'A great bird, a powerful bird... the almighty wonder of... the PEACOCK!' Peacock-Scar appeared with excited jazz hands in a full peacock-coloured suit, with a peacock feather hat and a fancy cane. 'And that's not all I can do... baym!' His majestic peacock tail popped out behind. Cub and Grian couldn't stop laughing.

'Scar... buddy... you really didn't need to...' Macaw Mumbo tried to explain.

'What do you mean?! My old outfit was far too regular and boring for my wonderful, wonderful, magestic tail. And there was a hole where you could see my butt. And I don't think any of you want to see my butt today... anyway! Wasn't there a... uhh... a meeting at spawn?'

'Scar...' Gem's head was in her black and white orca hands. 'Why?! We've been waiting half an hour for you!'

'That is very, very kind of you... oh, Cub! Your fox ears are adorable!'

'Don't... touch...' Cub backed away, his red fox's tail and ears down. 'Please...'

'Oh shoot, sorry...'

'Let's head off to spawn and apologise.'

'You really could've gone on ahead of me. I will reward you... with my tail.' Scar's peacock tail spread proudly again.

'How are you going to... ride your horse?'

'You mean cOWooooo? I can always ride...' Scar paused, looking between his long tail and his horse. 'hmm... hang on a second...'

'We're not hanging on a second longer, you're walking!' Grian set off past him. The others followed.

'Mumbo?' Scar turned, pleading, to Mumbo. 'Can you walk?'

'Well... I would if not for these bad boys.' Mumbo spread his new parrot wings. 'So... lovely talking to you... but I am off, buddy!'

He took to the air, quite majestically, until he flew into magic mountain.

'Awww! Come on! Cub, please... My wonderful, wonderful friend, and quite the majestic fox... you know, I've always loved foxes. A very strong, very important animal...'

'I'll walk with you...' Cub relented, smiling. 'Come on... see you in half an hour.'

'Bye!' Grian called back, continuing off towards where their other horses were. 'See you in an hour!'
