Also lots of POV changes FYI

-----------------------

Lucy watched Natsu from her table with the other girls. Gajeel had (finally) just asked Levy out, and that had been quite a show.

Natsu does like someone. Idiot, you've gotten yourself into quite the mess haven't you?Lucy giggled to herself, reminiscing on the pinkette's outburst a few minutes ago. To be honest, she thought Natsu was adorable. He was her best friend, and took no shame in always hanging out with a girl or doing some of the amazingly stupid and hilarious things he had done.

I wonder who the lucky girl is that somehow won his heart.

Juvia and Erza were watching their blonde friend and subtly conversing at the same time.

"Juvia thinks love-rival really likes Natsu," Juvia giggled, with Erza smirking and nodding in agreement.

"I've thought that for a long time. They're a perfect match, strange as it is."

"A match made in heaven!" Juvia continued to squeal, while Erza winced ever-so-slightly. That phrase would be perfect to describe them, although I am still going to refrain from using it.

Mirajane was sitting with Laxus and her brother Elfman and his date Evergreen. Seems Mira has finally rubbed off on her brother. Erza thought to herself, seeing as Elfman had finally worked up the courage to ask ANY girl out. Now if only one of these two would do the same. Erza wasn't a shipper, but she knew that these two had been ignoring their feelings for each other for two long. Her gaze drifted over to Grey, a friend and good partner-in-crime for keeping the school under control.

Speaking of crime... Erza pushed those thoughts out of her head. No. Despite that thought, a face popped up in her mind, his gentle smile and tattoo making Erza's heart beat.

"Erza, Erza, you there?" the redhead shook her head, seeing Juvia and Lucy looking at her intently.

"Sorry. Got caught up thinking."

"About what? Your cheeks were turning pink~" Lucy teased.

Crap... Erza thought, knowing her face was turning really red now. "Nothing. Hm, what time-" the bell to signal the end of lunch rang. "Speak of the devil..."

I'll talk to Mira after school. Let's see what we can do with... what did she call them? Nalu?

Natsu walked back to class, and was surprised to meet Lisanna on the way. "Hi Natsu!" she greeted in her cheerful, airy voice.

"Hey Lisanna," Natsu said, sort of paying attention.

"So, tomorrow is your big dance right?" she continued. Their next classes were in the same hallway, making a quick chat easy. Natsu sighed and nodded.

"YEp. I'm SO excited." he agreed sarcastically.

Lisanna looked worried. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Some people are just making this whole 'dance' thing a pain in the butt. I swear Mi- some of them are out to get me!" he threw a hand up in the air, his other being occupied by carrying books and his other trash.

Lisanna giggled in her unique way. "Mira giving you a hard time? She wouldn't stop talking about it. But... can I ask who?" Natsu suddenly felt distinctly uncomfortable. He had known Lisanna since they were little, although she had disappeared, kidnapped to be exact, for a long time.

And even though all that time had passed, she still had crush on him. Sorry Lisanna. I like someone else.

"One of my best friends. Happy decided it would be funny to make me ask her out to the dance or he would spill the beans himself." Lisanna nodded.

"Hm, well, if you need anything, you can always ask me, alright?" she reminded, her calming smile nearly immediately put a sense of serenity in whoever saw it. Natsu grinned his signature goofy grin.

"You got it! Thanks, Lis!"

Natsu's really going to be mad at Mira after he's done with what she has planned, Lisanna thought to herself as the two split ways to their two different classes.

Lucy was walking out the doors to the school when Mirajane came up to her. "Hey Lucy, can you come with me?" she asked innocently. Lucy shrugged.

"Sure! What's up Mira?" Mirajane pulled her back into the school and into the student council meeting room. Erza, Laxus, and Levy all there as well. "Am... I in trouble?" Lucy questioned hesitantly, wondering if she had done something and not realized it.

Levy shook her head. "Nm mhm! This has nothing to do with student council," Levy stated.

Lucy was confused. "But you're all in student council...?"

"Blame Mira. I still say this is a bad idea," Laxus muttered, glaring out the window.

Erza was smirking knowingly. "This has to do with a certain pink-haired idiot, a dare, and a upcoming dance." she said, and then gestured to Mira. "Follow her lead."

Mira had her evil smile on, although she still looked as innocent as usual.

"Listen up!"

Natsu walked out of his detention, still as cheerful as ever. Sure the teachers suck here but they've gotten so used to Natsu being in the office it's more like a second seminar for only him.

Gotta love being on the good side! Now if only Lucy were here to make the walk home more interesting. Throughout the day Natsu had suddenly been wishing Lucy was there a lot more often. But she's a straight-A student, and technically still has a clean record for detention, since I took the blame all those times we've done something stupid.

Natsu was in the forest outside town now, where his house was so he didn't have to pay pretty much any rent. There was a bridge over the nice little river he and Happy lived by coming up, and the pinkette was surprised to hear a shriek from ahead on the trail.

"Let me go, please!"

Natsu's heart skipped a beat. Lucy?!

Natsu lit his fists on fire and raced towards the commotion. Against the railing was a blonde, her wrists bound with a cloth that was held by a stranger and was partly thrown over the wooden bridge rail. "What do you think you're doing?!" he shouted, holding his fists up.

The guys holding Lucy had masks on, but looked up with a emotionless expression. "Stay outta our business, kid!" one of them said with a high-pitched voice.

Lucy's eyes were wild. "Natsu!"

"Don't worry Luce, I've got this. I'm all fired up!" F*ck off, b*stards. No one hurts Luce and gets away with it. (Again, excuse language)

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu threw his fiery fist at his friend's captors, and they were easily hit.

"It stings, it burns!" all four of them screeched, making Natsu idly wonder if they were using some sort of body link magic.

Natsu returned to where he had started, holding his burning fists out in front of him. "You want another round? Cause I'll be happy to kick your butts for you."

The one holding Lucy dropped the rope he was holding. "We're SORRY!" the four of them screeched and turned tail into the woods.

I swear if I find them at my house-

"Natsu, oh thank god," Lucy breathed, reminding Natsu the reason he had attacked in the first place.

"Luce! You okay?" he verified, not caring how concerned his voice was at the moment.

She nodded casually. "Yeah. I mean, I could be better, since I'd rather not have been wrapped up and almost dumped into a river."

They both chuckled.

"I can see that. I'm guessing you'd like out of those ropes?"

"Yes please, you idiot." Natsu grabbed the end of the rope that was left, binding Lucy's arms tightly to her body. The fire dragon slayer smirked and yanked on the end, causing Lucy to lurch and suddenly be spun by the heavy-duty cloth.

She shrieked, and felt gravity suddenly increase on her as the ropes were unravelled and she lost her balance.

"Natsu-!"

Natsu realized what was about to happen and threw himself onto the ground, and Lucy splayed out her arms and landed on his chest. The blonde had her eyes squeezed shut for the expected hard impact, but slowly opened them to see Natsu's shocked face.

"Uh..." They both turned beet red, staring at each other's shocked faces that were very close together.

"Heh, uh, oops?" Natsu offered awkwardly, raising his shoulders ever-so-tensely. Lucy stifled laughter and carefully got up, trying to make sure not to make things any more awkward than they were.

"Heh, yeah, uh... thanks Natsu." she looked away, causing Natsu wince, thinking he has just screwed things up big time.

"A-anytime Luce. Want me to walk you home?" he offered, trying to make up, his face still red.

Lucy shook her head. "No, it's okay. Thanks for the offer though!" she smiled with a tender expression he had never seen her looked at him with before.

Before Natsu could register what Lucy was doing she leaned over and pressed her lips lightly against his cheek, and then disappeared.

...wait, she didn't just-

Natsu fainted on the ground.

Mira was giggling uncontrollably. Laxus looked unamused while Levy was squealing and Grey was shaking his head at Natsu's reaction.

"Great job, Flamehead." he muttered, but not without a good amount of humor.

"Mira did you see that? Did you SEE that?!" Levy shrieked and was bouncing up and down in excitement.

"I did!" Mira agreed and held up a camera. Levy squealed again while Sherry and Bickslow came back from completing their act.

"That was so much fun!" Sherry laughed, apparently liking the little show they had enticed.

"Yeah, babies loved a little trickery!" Bickslow agreed, his dolls floating and agreeing in their normal echo.

"Well guys, tomorrow's Friday! Let's see how Natzu does!" Happy announced as the teens started packing up from their little "picnic" from waiting for Natsu to show up.

Yes, this had been a huge setup. Although that last bit from Lucy was unplanned, Mirajane had passed this whole event off as a sort of social experiment to Lucy. Of course everyone else more or less knew this was a setup for the two, it was certainly a fun show nonetheless.

"Let's see how Natsu handles this one..." Grey said aloud smirked to himself.

Levy was still fangirling. "If this works out then it's definitely going in the school newspaper!"
