Chapter 14
I had changed the plan for Oliver and I to go to the party instead of a movie after realizing I had to be two places at one that day. It would probably be better this way because I wouldn't disappoint Ringo but at the same time Paul wouldn't bother me there if I had a date.
I think Audrey thought I was pulling her leg about the party though I didn't even crack a smile when I told her, she'd already been so in disbelief I knew Paul McCartney.
"Oliver's here!" Audrey called up to the guest room.
"Coming!" I giggled to myself flailing my arms around my head to try to get rid of the thick fog of smoke if created in the room as I left from it.
I had worn a short black shift dress and white go go boots, flat ironed my hair and even put on some makeup Audrey had given me.
"What's that smell?" Ben scrunched his nose as I walked into the entrance way.
"I dunno." I smiled widely lying through my teeth smugly.
"Charlie, if he tries anything again," Audrey began worriedly.
"I'll get the hell out of there and call you. I've got this under control." I nodded with a goofy smile.
She nodded knowingly.
Oliver had shown up once again in his perfect car that we'd taken to the boat. He'd greeted me normally like any other gentlemen would and escorted me to the car as we said goodbye to Audrey and Ben.
"You look nice." He complemented making me giggle.
"As do you." I spoke making myself giggle even more.
He gave me a slightly strange look and opened the passenger door for me as I got in.
I caught a glimpse of how red my eyes were in the window and blinked a couple times shaking my head trying to compose myself from the effects of the drugs.
The two of us made little conversation in the car on our way to the address of the party, unsure of what to say to one another. I was really beginning to question where my mind had gone, I knew deep down I could never love him after what he'd done.
Once we'd made it inside the crowded mansion I couldn't help but think back to the party I'd went to with Paul and Ringo.
Pushing it to the back of my mind I spotted Ringo, causing me to smile with joy.
Once Ringo spotted me he motioned for me to go over to him as he stood in the kitchen, leaning on the counter.
I lead Oliver over to him, seeing Ringo's smile falter.
"Hello Charlie." Ringo grinned prying his eyes away from Oliver and over to me.
"Hi Ringo." I smiled brightly.
"Who's this?" Ringo asked looking to Oliver once again with slight bitterness.
"Oliver, I brought a date, I hope you don't mind." I smiled innocently hoping he wasn't angry with me.
"Of course not, it's nice to meet you Oliver." Ringo smiled holding out a hand for him to shake.
Oliver shook it with a smile, seeming to be unaware that Ringo was famous.
Just then a gorgeous woman placed herself under Ringo's arm with a large grin.
I smiled in awe.
"This is Maureen, my wife." Ringo smiled proudly before kissing her on the forehead.
"Maureen this is Charlie and Oliver." He introduced us.
"It's nice to meet you two." She nodded happily wrapping her hands around Ringo.
Her gaze lingered over me, seeming like she might've already heard my name before making me shift nervously.
"Ringo!" Someone called over to him from the crowd of people.
"I'll catch up with you guys later, stay awhile, enjoy yourselves." He grinned kindly as he and Maureen walked off.
I nodded and waved as they left.
"He looked familiar." Oliver trailed off inquiringly.
"That's Ringo, from the Beatles?" I furrowed my eyebrows, unsure if he'd been living under a rock for the past few years while they went touring all around the world and continually topped the charts.
"Oh." He raised his eyebrows in shock.
"How do you know him-" He began before I lost interest, staring behind him at a sight that made my heart sink.
Paul and Jane Asher emerged from the crowd of people, hand in hand, the two of them completely glowing. It was like pouring lemon juice in my newly cut wound that Paul had left.
"Charlie?" Oliver snapped me out of it.
"Sorry, Ringo's a friend." I smiled briefly before looking at Paul and Jane again enraged.
Paul's eyes caught mine and I froze as if I were a deer caught in the headlights, unable to think to walk away before Paul began walking directly toward the two of us.
Oliver noticed my expression and looked behind him with a gruff look on his face.
"Charlie." Paul looked shocked and relieved to see me all at once as he walked toward Oliver and I.
"Hi Paul." I gulped as Oliver came by my side looking at Paul disapprovingly.
Paul looked at Oliver questioningly as Jane caught up to him, smiling radiantly.
"Who's-" Paul began, his face slightly distraught.
"Oliver." He hissed smugly, pulling me forcefully under his arm to show dominance, causing me to be jolted around like a rag doll.
"I have a feeling she's told me about you before." Paul smiled smugly examining how careless he was with me.
My eyes widened and my throat tightened in fear thinking how Oliver might react.
Oliver seemed to immediately pick up on what he meant, growing angrier.
"Paul?" Jane questioned his evident problem with Oliver.
"Sorry, Charlie, Oliver, this is my girlfriend Jane." Paul introduced growing quieter for a moment, almost shamefully.
"Oh, you're the life saver that rescued Martha. Paul and I really can't thank you enough, he wouldn't stop talking about you and how thankful he was for your help." Jane laughed lightheartedly.
"Really?" I smiled, "because Paul never mentioned you." I laughed in the same lighthearted manner sarcastically, feeling furious with her although she had done absolutely nothing to me.
Jane smiled slightly confused by my statement.
"I'm going to go get a drink, want anything?" Oliver mumbled quietly in a foul mood.
I looked up at him at a loss for words, as he'd told me before, drinking is what caused him to assault me in the first place, but I don't think I would be able to stop him from drinking judging by the scowl on his face.
He rolled his eyes and walked away to get pissed out of his mind.
I knew from then on the night would only go downhill, but I didn't know how low it would get until later into the night when Oliver had found me as I was coming out from the bathroom.

"I've been looking for you." He stumbled with a smirk.
"I've been talking to Ringo and Maureen, I couldn't find you anywhere-" I shook my head becoming slightly frightened of the look in his eye.
"That's bullshit." He raised his voice as he pinned me against the wall with his body, slamming his hand against the wall beside my head.
"You've been sleeping with Paul haven't you?" He nearly shouted.
"No, no I haven't." I spoke shaking, seeing no one passing down the hallway.
"Don't lie to me." He grabbed my chin between his fingers harshly.
I jerked my head out of his hand causing him to grow angrier, placing his hand around my neck, beginning to cut off my breathing.
"Hey!" I heard Paul shout from the end of the hallway.
Oliver let go of me causing my to collapse on the ground weekly, gasping for air as I clutched onto my own throat.
"Here he is now!" Oliver chuckled wickedly.
"Don't you ever put your hands on her like that." Paul warned acting tough.
"Or what?" Oliver challenged smugly.
Paul's face shifted to a completely infuriated expression, becoming almost unrecognizable as he lunged toward Oliver. In an instant Paul swung at his face, punching him, and causing him to crash into the wall caught off guard.
Oliver wiped the corner of his mouth, seeing blood on his hand and becoming like a bull, ready to ram himself into Paul after seeing red.
It caused the attention of other people as Oliver regained his composure and tackled Paul, the two of them rolling into the living room.
I got up and began to panic.
"Oliver stop!" I shouted winded as I walked out watching with the crowd of people gathered around them as Paul had Oliver pinned on the ground, putting his hands around Oliver's neck as he had done to me.
"Paul, stop it, please!" I begged, my eyes watering.
Ringo and John soon pulled Paul off Oliver, who was held back by two other men.
Paul's eyes caught mine and I shook my head in disbelief. His face became sorrowful as I looked away from him frustratedly.
"Let's get out of here." Oliver stumbled over to me, smirking with a mouthful of blood and an evident bruise forming on his cheek.
"You're a jerk, you realize that?" I scoffed bitterly.
"I never want to see you ever again. This was all just a big mistake." I growled before pushing my way through the sea of people to the front door, walking out into cool night air.
I sat down of the porch at my wits end, leaning up against the wall and sobbing.
The door opened causing me to quickly wipe my tears away.
George appeared with a peaceful aura, looking over to me sympathetically.
"You alright love? I followed you out after," he trailed off.
"I'm fine." I nodded pursing my lips, tasting my salty tears on my tongue.
"We don't have to talk about it, but can I drive you home love?" George grinned kindly, holding out a hand for me to grab.
I took it with a meek nod, pulling myself up.
