Chapter 16

Waiting for the 10 minutes to pass seemed like eternity. Something was not right and Tej's gaze toward the back table didn't make him feel any better either. It didn't matter if he looked left or right because his gut feeling was telling him to go find his wife. Once again he looked down at his watch and only 3 minutes has passed but when he looked up his dark eyes turned into whole different kind of shade, the one person he absolutely did not want to see; Sahil. Om felt as if someone had just cut off his air supply and the sharp pain in his chest made it even harder to breathe. Everyone at the table could see Om's entire body shake, but it wasn't due to fear but rather him trying hard to contain the explosive anger surging through his veins. No longer caring about etiquette Om stood up and slammed his chair onto the hard tile floor leaving nothing but shattered pieces now scattered beneath his feet. The cold chill spread throughout the entire VIP table. Not a single person dared to utter a word. All they could do was watch him run towards the back hallway that Gauri took awhile ago. Watching Om's sudden change in mood Tej also knew something must be wrong he walked to the side to call Dandi and Ranveer.

Dandi picks up is cell: Yes sir?

Tej: Something is not right. Stop watching Kaali and his men and go find Gauri.

Dandi: Do you want me to leave Ranveer behind?

Tej: No need. I will personally watch Kaali myself.

Dandi did not like the idea but he couldn't risk Gauri's life either. "Yes. Sir." Dandi signaled Ranveer and the two rushed outside to start looking for their Missus.

Tej slowly walks towards the back table and sat down right in front of the monster that took everything away from him.

Kaali: Tej.

Tej: Kaali. So tell me, was it your intention to scare me a while ago? Because if it was.... .I'm sorry to say that you did not succeed. As you can see....for my daughter I am willing to do anything to protect her. Even having her hate me was fine. But now that I know I don't have to pretend anymore. I should really thank you for giving me a chance to make up for lost times.

Tej knew that the only way to prove that he was not effected by Kaali's previous words is to show him that he would rather seek happiness with Gauri instead of drown in anger. And by looking at Kaali's expression he knew it worked. He needed to keep Kaali distracted until his men could assure Gauri's safety.

Kaali angrily: I will never allow you to be happy Tej. You see these burnt scars? The pain I endured is unimaginable!

Kaali rips his shirt to show a large scare across his chest "You see this!! Because of the severity of the burns my heart could not take it!! I rely on a damn pacemaker now Tej. And I will start by taking your precious little girl." Tej could only smile knowing that Kaali had experience physical pain all these years and that too by the hands of his beloved Jhanvi. At this rate it was a piece of cake for him to distract Kaali giving his two best of men a chance to track his little girl down.

As Gauri was walking down the hallway she was beginning to noticed that the farther she went the less people she saw. "Svetlana. Where are you actually taking me?"

Svetlana: What do you mean? I told you already, that young boy wanted me to bring you here.

Gauri suddenly stopped: You managed to fool me to follow you this far, so do not try to lie to me now. So tell me, where are you taking me.

Svetlana slowly walks in circles around Gauri in a taunting way: You were always a smart girl Gauri but tonight your intelligence will be no help to you. You see I've come to know how I've been played by your father...and can I just say that I'm just not too happy about it. I am just trying to get what is due to me.

Gauri used her hand to try to hide her chuckles. "Why are you laughing?! Do you even understand what is happening here?!" Gauri looks at the pitiful woman "I laugh because it took you this long to figure out that you have been wasting your time all these years. I mean I have to give you credit for your efforts, not a lot of people could marry a man as old as their father."

Svetlana was furious: Did you know that he had a vasectomy!! He fooled me!! Telling me that I can have everything as long as I gave him an heir!

Gauri sarcastically sighs: Well you weren't really good at hiding your real intentions step-mother. Did you really think you were fooling my father? You were harmless in his eyes. It was your greed that blinded you. All those years and it took someone to actually tell you that he couldn't have children. Did you never think to check things out? Maybe the lack of intelligence on your part was your undoing...step mother.

All of a sudden Gauri felt a bit off. Her vision was starting to blur and her body was burning up. As she stumbled she had to make use of a nearby wall to steady herself. Looking at how happy Svetlana was Gauri knew she must have been drugged. "The wine?" Svetlana couldn't help but laugh loudly "So how are you feeling? A bit woozy? Hot maybe?"

Gauri: You dare to drug me? What did you give me.

Svetlana: You would have to ask him.

Gauri turned around and to her surprise Abay Kapoor was standing right behind and beside him was a man she didn't recognized. "Mr. Kapoor?" Looking at the people who were trying to kidnap her Gauri couldn't hold in her amusement any longer.

Svetlana: Have you gone mad? Why are you laughing?

Gauri: Obviously I am laughing at you.

Hearing Gauri laugh made Abay feel as if she was always looking down on him and constantly mocking him everytime they met. "Tell me. What is so funny."

Gauri rested her back on the wall: Well since you insist. So who's idea was it to say Sahil wanted to see me?

Abay turned to glare at Svetlana "Tell me you were not dumb enough to use another person as an excuse to get her here!" Svetlana did not see what the problem was. "Yes I did. And look! I got her here. So what's wrong?"

Abay: Idiot! Now when they notice she is missing they will ask Sahil and obviously he will know nothing about it!! And then they will go looking for you and eventually it will trace back to me!! How can you be so stupid!"

Gauri looks at Svetlana "If I were you I would run."

Svetlana: Why would I need to run?!

Gauri shakes her head at this woman's stupidity "You are now a liability...dear stepmother."

The man that was standing beside Abay was sent by Kaali to ensure that things would go smoothly. He looked at Abay to let him know that they needed to silence Svetlana somehow. The man slowly walks behind Svetlana and using the base of his gun he knocked her out with one hard swing, she never saw it coming. He caught her body and threw her over his shoulder "Mr. Kapoor I will take care of this. You finish the job here." Abay no longer flinches after seeing such a scene. He was already in too deep and right now he only cared about getting Gauri into the hands of Kaali Thakur. But the more he looked at how flushed Gauri has gotten the more he wanted to touch her. She was so beautiful and seeing her breathing heavily made his desires even harder to resist. "So Mr. Kapoor do you mind me asking you something?" Abay walks closer "Sure." Abay tried to caress Gauri's face but she quickly turned "well all I had on hand Ms. Sharma was a very very potent aphrodisiac."

Gauri: The same one you gave Ms. Khurana to use on Mr. Oberoi?

Abay was surprised: How did you know it was me?

Gauri smiles: She is not the type to think of such things. I was pretty sure someone must have suggested it.

Abay lifts Gauri's chin forcefully: Well for you I had Svetlana use a double dose. That is why you are breathing so heavily right now.

Gauri turns her head swiftly to get his dirty hand off her chin "Disgusting."

Abay: Let's not try to stall time Ms. Sharma you should start walking.

Abay flashes a gun that he has hidden inside his waistband and suggest Gauri to start walking outside towards the back alley. But as much as Gauri wanted to walk by herself the drug made it difficult. The pace was too slow so Abay grabbed her close to steady her every step. Gauri took this opportunity to pick at the stones on her bracelet. She started to drop a stone for every 5 step she took hoping the lights on the tree branches and bushes would make the stone sparkle. Om's previous words were echoing inside her head and she knew that soon these stones would lead him to her.

Every step Om took his heart would stop momentarily. The tightness he felt in his chest was driving his mind to think of the worse. "Where is she!" He punched the nearest wall until blood started to drip from his knuckles. But as he looked down there was a green sparkle that caught his eye. He picked it up and smiled "Smart." He looked straight ahead and saw that his clever wife had left him such a beautiful trail. "I'm coming. Wait for me." Om hurriedly ran towards the darkest alley hoping that it wasn't too late. The thought of losing her was unimaginable. He clenched his fists and grit his teeth ready to burn everything down until she is found. His eyes were now a dark abyss where one would beg for death rather than face his wrath.

"Mr. Kapoor. Think again for what you are about to do. You still have time to let me go before it's too late." "Even in this state you are trying to threaten me?" He roughly turned her towards him and with one hand caressed her bare back. "You!" Gauri has never felt so dirty. She tried to muster up some strength to push him away but was only able to make him take two steps back. "I am merely giving you a chance Mr. Kapoor. But it seems you are tired of living." In front of them was a black car that Abay had arranged for them. He opened the back seat door and nudge Gauri inside. He got back up and tried to reach for his gun but Om was much faster. Before the gun could even be pointed at him Om grabbed Abay's wrist and gave it a hard twist, only when he heard bones break did Om stop. Abay yelling out in pain as his weapon fell to the ground finally understood why Gauri had smiled. Still holding the broken wrist Om looked at Gauri "which hand did he use to touch you." Standing there looking at the thirst for blood in his eyes Gauri was more than happy to feed his need "Both." Om turned and grabbed the other hand twisting it until he could no longer feel the crackling between his fingers. But Om was unstoppable now he gave a hard kick to Abay's chest resulting in some broken ribs. Now on the ground grasping for air Gauri could hear every punch that landed on Abay's face. Then slowly from behind Gauri sensed someone "Dandi. You finally came."

Dandi: Sorry Missus. We were late.

Dandi was about to wrap his jacket around Gauri but was stopped midway "Do not touch me. In this state only He has the right." Dandi didn't quite understand but he wasn't going to argue with his Missus either. "Do you want us to stop him or let him continue?" Gauri waited a bit before replying. Abay looking up to see Gauri hoping that she would be merciful "Help me. Please."

Gauri: Lets make a deal Mr. Kapoor. I will spare your life in exchange for a name. Who sent you? You tell me and I will have my men take you to the nearest hospital. If you refuse you will lay here and bleed to death. Your choice.

Abay: His name is Kali Thakur. The only thing I know is he hates your father. So now please!! I need help! I can't feel my arms or my face!

Gauri looked to Dandi and Ranveer when Abay mentioned the name Kali Thakur and knew that finally she got her answer...Kali Thakur.....
