Prompt #3:World Story Telling Day (Epic)

Title: Mark My Words, a Cliché Riddled Yarn

Once upon a time, on a dark and stormy night

A traveller sought shelter, as any traveller might

Any port in a storm that has shelter he can thank,

so he took the first that came along, and you can

take that to the bank.

Inside by a fire burning, two star crossed lovers sat,

one a 70s flower girl, the other an army brat.

The traveller joined them by the fire, not too close,

as he could see they were unsure, and

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

He asked if they would like to hear

a traveller's sorry tale, of a love that was

the apple of his eye, for whom his heart

was an open book, and for whom he'd

go that extra mile.

The girl was happy as a clam, the boyfriend

not so much. But it was in his best interest to

take one for the team, rather than start from scratch.

With the squeaky wheel getting the grease,

the traveller began his story.

Once upon a time, he figured sounded good,

after all, no guts no glory.

And for this dog's breakfast I am truly sorry!

A lovely epic poem by lyttlejoe ! Great work!
