Quit Not My Friend
Have you ever had times in your life when you just felt like giving up on the Christian walk? How about even going as far as giving into the darkness in the world to the point of not caring if Satan takes control of your life?
I have felt this way before on numerous occasions and I must confess, it's one hard feeling to overcome.
Through these feelings, the Devil enters into our minds giving us a barrage of reasons why we should not continue the walk in Christ but let me tell you something - those are nothing but lies; lies that will destroy your life if you so much as give in to them. Have victory over death by defeating these lies by keeping your mind stayed on God and His promises.
Sometimes when these thoughts occur in our heads it may feel enticing to give in to it. You don't have to worry about walking on the correct path or ensure that you don't do things that will be deemed incorrect in the eyes of the Lord. STOP!!!! Don't even start thinking about it!!!
God tells us in His word "for my power is greatest when you are weak" from 2 Corinthians 12:9 (this is just a part of that verse). This gives us the assurance that even though we are too weak (be it physically or mentally, even emotionally) God's power can still be manifested through us. So even though we may feel like giving up on the Christian walk, God can still come through for us and turn around our thoughts and us back to Him like the lost sheep we once were.
Hebrews 12:1-3 ~ As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses round us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right-hand side of God's throne. Think of what he went through; how he put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up.
[Emphasis added]
In this passage we see that Jesus could have given up and not die for our sin on the cross but Jesus knowing the joy and reward that will come His way by carrying out what His Father had sent Him on earth to do. I don't want to side track from what I'm talking about here, but just imagine if Jesus had called to the angels and tell the to carry Him back to Heaven so many things would go wrong! The prophecies from the Old Testament would not have been fulfilled, John the Baptists works would have been in vein, the Scribes and the Pharisees would then have been right in their assumptions that Jesus was not the Messiah, the killing of the babies on the night of Jesus' birth would have been in vein and most importantly we would not have any way to communicate with God or become saved. Just think how many this would have gone totally wrong if Jesus had given up! There wouldn't even be any religion called Christianity!! Probably this isn't straying after all but just imagine, everything that we believe in, have faith, hope and trust in were all based upon whether Christ had quit and not die on the cross or if He had determination and died on the cross and thank God He had chosen the latter.
So let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. When we keep our eyes fixed on Him we will have Godly thoughts and not thoughts influenced by the Devil.
Keep on going and don't quit because the difference between you keep on going in the Christian faith and giving up on the faith is whether you'll get onto Heaven or not.
