Description

Looks

PlainWings have mellow-toned scales, smallish wings, and thin horns that are surprisingly strong for stabbing prey. They are usually pale yellows and browns, though they can also be white and (rarely) bright yellows and browns, as well as having some black. They have thick skin that is slightly furry. On their tails is a ball of fur, that grows white with age, as well as their skin. PlainWings have very few scales, only on their backs, top of heads, front of legs, though sometimes they are malformed and are covered all over in scales, including on their horns and wing membranes. The only part of PlainWings in this form that is not covered is the eyes. Their scales tend to be a shade darker than their fur; their underbelly, lighter. PlainWings have pink blood and blue eyes until they are about a year old, when their blood will turn red and their eyes will turn golden brown. Their wings will also turn slightly transparent. PlainWings also have sharp, strong claws, as well as strong arms, though they are quite small, the size of a lion. PlainWings may also have markings on their bodies, the rarest, black, the second-rarest, white, though markings themselves are not rare to see on PlainWings.

Eggs

PlainWings' eggs are interesting. They are usually pearly white, but can sometimes have a "musty" look to them. They are usually round, but if one is oval-shaped with pointy ends, the dragonet inside is dead.

Personalities

PlainWings are gentle creatures, and don't fight often. They love music and honey, and almost never argue. They don't talk much, and aren't in contact with the outside world. They will burrow into the ground to get away from predators and other dragons, and dislike jokes, as they don't really get humor. PlainWings also are obsessed with treasure, especially jewels/gems.

Culture

Beliefs and Religion

Creation

PlainWings believe that they were created by lions, as they are so much alike. They see lions as other-worldly creatures and despise Queen Wasp for eating their heads, they have even attacked troops of HiveWings to save them! PlainWings also believe in Mother Nature, who takes the form of a lion. She is accompanied by three moons, who each look after a different time: Past, present, and future. She sometimes has a fourth moon, who takes the time "never". Killing lions is seen as treason, and will get you banished, or even killed.

Special Events

Each special event only happens once a year.

Lioness Essence

This is an event that lasts a week and is to honor adult female PlainWings, especially mothers and hunters. During this week, the tribe will feed and take care of the dragonesses, to prepare them for The Hunt.

The Hunt

During the week proceeding the Lioness Essence celebration, the adult female PlainWings will go on a massive hunt, bringing back hundreds of kills. After this event is over, they have a feast, and then are not allowed to eat for another month.

All Beasts' Eve and Day

All Beasts' Eve is a night where no hunting is done, and everyone must be silent. PlainWings use this night to remember loved ones and thank Mother Nature for her gifts and food. The next day, it is a time of family and feasting, as well as cleansing your spirit by jumping into the forbidden part of Lake Scorpion.

Claws

Claws is a religious holiday to thank the great Moons for time, and to relax and enjoy life, and for the elders, learn to be okay with death and hope for rebirth. If a PlainWing dies, and after their death on that same day an egg is laid, that dragonet is said to be that dragon, and that is the only way to tell, though it is rare.

Rankings

Royalty

Royalty, like usual, is the highest rank you can be. Any PlainWing can become royalty if they marry into the royal family or are adopted by someone of the royal family.

Lions

The Lions are a group of PlainWings who have risked their life for the tribe. This is the highest non-royal ranking you can get, and very few PlainWings have this honor, as it is a rare occurrence. Being a Lion means you get feast privileges, and are awarded a grand home near the center of Great Mane. Most Lions are female.

Elders

Elders are respected very much in PlainWing Society, as they are believed to be able to contact Mother Nature herself. Most elders live in a large building near the palace.

Commoners

This is the ranking of most PlainWings because you are born with this title. No matter how rich or poor you are, you are treated the same way, unless you are higher or lower than a commoner. This rule was set in place to ensure PlainWings would always have trust and fairness in their government.

Termites

A Termite is the lowest rank in PlainWing society. Very few PlainWings hold this rank, as it is hard to earn. This rank is given to any prisoner or outcast the PlainWings get hold of. Acts to get you Termite-level include murder, looking at sacred spots, conspiring against the PlainWings, going into the forbidden spot of Lake Scorpion (not on All Beasts' Day), and leaving the kingdom for personal reasons.

Inter-Tribe Relationships

Allies

SilkWings

PlainWings are in touch with many SilkWings, most from Bloodworm Hive. The SilkWings tell the PlainWings what's going on in the outside world, and the PlainWings help hide the SilkWings from danger. They also help get messages to the Chrysalis, and give a meeting place so they can get together.

HiveWings

Few HiveWings are in touch with the PlainWings, and all are from Bloodworm Hive. The PlainWings give the HiveWings food and shelter, away from Lady Bloodworm, and the HiveWings defend the PlainWings from any danger.

Enemies

HiveWings

Most HiveWings, or rather Queen Wasp, know about the PlainWings. She tried to convince them to submit to her, but surprisingly, they refused. Now Queen Wasp sends troops to subdue the PlainWings by killing their Queen, but they counteract her attacks. They are in a constant battle.

PoisonWings

PlainWings are being attacked by PoisonWings, as they are mad they aren't going to help them defeat the HiveWings. However, the attacks are really just angry letters sent from leader-to-leader, though some have held some nasty stuff.

Neither Allies Nor Enemies

All are because of not knowing the other exists/no interactions between the two tribes.

History

Pre-Scorching

????

During Scorching

During the Scorching, PlainWings didn't want to fight, but were hunted for their fur, so they were forced to battle. Near the end, when they had barely any of their tribe left, the PlainWings went into hiding and erased themselves from history.

After Scorching

After a few years of hiding, the PlainWings fled to Pantala, terrified of the other tribes and miserable they had few in numbers. However, when they reached Pantala, they found other dragons covering almost the entire continent. The only space leftover was the top, which was hard and hilly, and the bottom, which was soft and smooth. The PlainWings chose the bottom, and started building their home.

During Clearsight

When Clearsight came, the PlainWings were skeptical of her powers and stayed hidden. The Othermind attacks hadn't affected them, but they had learned to be suspicious of everything. When she stopped the hurricane, the PlainWings felt better, but still stayed hidden. They did learn to speak Dragon, though, and found it easier than their current language, so the PlainWings switched, still keeping their current language as a second language.

Before Tree Wars

Before the Tree Wars, the PlainWings did get used to their surroundings and introduced themselves to the world, but the HiveWings only wanted their land and drove them away from the entire west side of their kingdom that used to be half of it. They stayed shut in their corner, only allowing about seven different dragons into their kingdom. When Queen Wasp ordered them to submit to her, they refused and shut themselves even further away, sadly forgetting about the eastern side of their kingdom and leaving it to rot.

During Tree Wars

As the PlainWings were forgotten again, they played almost no part in the Tree Wars. However, many refugees from each tribe came to their kingdom, and they mated, which is how PlainWings now have scales.

After Tree Wars

Peace has a large meaning, so PlainWings are not at peace with other tribes. Though they are still secluded, they are more open, and will fight other tribes, though they will still avoid it if possible.
