As the battle for Trost ensued and the mission to seal the wall went awry, the Elite squads and yourself all split up in an attempt to guard Eren until he could be recovered. The Titans however continued their mindless rampage, with some of the Titans that were lured towards the wall, even leaving to roam about the city and grow closer and closer to Eren. Morale was extremely low and every soldier of the Elite squads were being pushed to their absolute limits with how much farther they could hold out. Across a set of rooftops, Captain Rico and another female comrade of hers jumped away from a Titan that had managed to snatch and chomp down on one of their allies. The two women looked on in despair and frustration as the Titan chewed on their friend.

"Captain, we're finished! We're the last ones left!" Rico's last comrade said with fear as Rico grit her teeth and turned towards her.

"Fall back to the boulder!" Rico ordered as her comrade looked in shock behind her.

"Captain! Behind you!" She screamed in terror as a Titan had managed to sneak behind Rico and reached for her with its mouth open.

"Ngh...!" Rico turned in shock and had a despaired look when she realized there was no time to get away.

"Dammit! GAH!" A voice cried out as the sound of flesh being cut was heard among the women as they watched the Titan collapse with you standing on top of it, covered in its blood. "Don't get reckless now, Captain! We're not out of the thick of it yet!" You said as she couldn't believe you had just saved her. "Let's go!" You said as you flew off back towards the boulder.

"R-Right...!" Rico said as she and her comrade followed suit and were right behind you, but as you all flew and looked towards the gate, there was a sight you wished hadn't shown. "N-No way..." Rico said in disbelief as five more Titans emerged from the entrance of Trost.

"How are there still this many Titans near Trost...!? You gotta kidding me!" You yelled in frustration and anger as you looked down at your final set of blades. "At this rate...we'll be...!" You trailed off, but before you could even think about the worst, an ominous noise echoed through Trost.

Slowly but surely, loud thuds echoed through the district and caught everyone's attention and made you all come to a stop on top of some roofs. The thunderous noise continued one after the other, like giant footsteps, as everyone looked around frantically to try and find the source of the noise. After turning your head a few times, your eyes widened and you jaw almost fell off when you saw a giant gust of steam moving through the town, along with a boulder that bobbed up and down with each thunderous step. You began to chuckle and brought one hand up to your head as you had a relieved look on your face and continued to lowly laugh.

"Took you long enough...Asshole..." You said as tears welled in your eyes and watched Eren in his Titan form carry the boulder over his shoulders, heading for the gate as his eyes glowed a bright green color and steam emit in great amounts from his body.  

"Mikasa!" You heard a cry from about two rooftops over and saw Mikasa with Armin and Dietrich's squad as well, who were also stunned from the sight. 

"Armin!" Mikasa was surprised he came to the front line.

"Eren won! Now he's trying to get the job done! If we can cover him till he gets to the gate, we win!" Armin informed as loud as he could with great desperation as you were all surprised to hear the news, but Dietrich was quick to act. 

"DEFEND HIM!!!!!" Dietrich yelled at the top of his lungs so everyone who was nearby, could hear his instructions. "PROTECT EREN UNTIL HE REACHES THE GATE, EVEN IF IT COSTS YOU YOUR LIFE! DON'T LET ANY OF THE TITANS NEAR HIM!!!" Dietrich screamed out loud as you instantly ran off towards Eren, and Ian saw this and turned to your other two friends. "You two, head toward Eren. Back up Y/N! That's an order! Got it?!" He spoke with both desperation and determination as the two of them were shocked, but quickly steeled themselves.

"Roger!" Mikasa and Armin yelled before running off as all the soldiers nearby and a few who were station above the wall and saw what was happening, rushed to defend Eren from the hoard of Titans.

You ran across rooftops and leaped over gaps in an attempt to conserve your gas as there were not as many buildings near the gate for you to run across. Just before you were going to jump off though, you came to a stop at the edge of a home in shock of seeing a three man squad running on the ground behind the hoard.

"That's...!" You thought in shock as Dietrich came to a stop as well when he saw Mitabi's squad on the ground.

"Mitabi's squad...What are you doing?!" Dietrich yelled in shocked of their actions.

"The Titan's won't follow us! We have to get closer to them until they attack us!" Mitabi yelled as he had a scared, but desperate look on his face while running towards the tall beasts.

"Look over here, bastards!" One of Mitabi's men yelled with fear clear in his voice.

"If you don't, I'll jab my blade up your stinking ass!" Mitabi yelled as the instant he finished, two of the Titans in the back of the hoard, stopped in their tracks and turned their sights on a now mortified Mitabi and his men. 

"Here they come! Two of them are coming!" One of them yelled as they turned tail and began to run away.

"Run! Run to the building!" Mitabi screamed as they led away two Titans from the hoard.

"What the...Going on the ground is suicide. Without horses or buildings, they can't fight!" Armin said in disbelief.

"No...Now, it's the only way left..." Dietrich said as he was the first to leap of the building and towards the ground. "Follow Mitabi's squad!" He yelled to everyone.

"Captain!" You yelled with worry as he continued forward. "Agh, this sucks...!" You groaned as you clenched your teeth and jumped off the rooftop, with others following suit.

"Armin, let's go, too." Mikasa said to the young blonde before the two of them and everyone else now ran across the ground in order to intercept the Titan's coming for Eren as he continued his march to the gate.

Now completely desperate and pushing yourselves as hard as you could, you and every soldier in the area ran across the ground and tried your best to lure the giant humanoids away from Eren. Meanwhile, from Eren's high up perspective of everything, he continued to push forward while focusing every fiber of his body to carrying the weight of the large rock.

"My body feels like it's being crushed..." Eren thought as he shifted his gaze towards the ground and looked to see you, Armin, and Mikasa standing below him before running off to attract the Titans to yourselves. "Mikasa? Armin? Y/N? What are you doing? If you stay down there, Titans will get you!" He thought with great worry as he took one more step and entered the destroyed defensive line of the gate.

"Come on, you slowpokes!" One soldier yelled as he tried to lure a Titan away, but was snatched by one he hadn't seen was near him. "A-AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Was the last his voice was heard as he was devoured, and this caught the attention of Mitabi.

"H-Hey!" Captain Mitabi stopped in his tracks, which was the wrong choice to do, because the next moment he turned, a giant hand crushed him to a paste.

"Mitabi!" A soldier cried out in despair as the messy situation ensued in front of Eren's eyes while he marched onward.

"So why did you want to go to the world beyond the walls?" That question Armin asked before echoed through his mind as he deeply contemplated his thoughts and choices he's made to get to this point.

"From the time we are born, we are free..." Eren thought as the cries of horror and fear could be heard through the area as soldier after soldier was devoured. "It doesn't matter how strong those who would deny s that freedom are..." His footsteps bellowed as he remembered the hardships and conflicts he had in his pasts. "Flaming water...Frozen earth...I don't care what it is! The one who sees them will be the freest person in the world! Fight...I'd willingly give my life for that!" Steam exude from his mouth as Dietrich and you moved to save a soldier from being eaten. "It doesn't matter how terrifying the world is." Eren continued to resolve himself and his thoughts as Ian threw the soldier out and they crashed against you while you watched in horror as Captain Dietrich was slowly pushed into the Titan's mouth and you reached out to no avail. "It doesn't matter how cruel the world is!" Eren screamed in his head as you cried out in despair while watching Ian's body except for his head disappear into the Titans' mouth as blood spewed across the air and covered your face while you fell with the soldier to the ground. "Fight...Fight!" He repeated as his thunderous footsteps clapped against the ground and soldiers continued to risk their lives to keep the Titans away from Eren.

"Another Titan!" A soldier yelled as you turned on the ground and gasped as one more Titan walked through the gate and towards Eren and you gritted your teeth forced blood covered body up.

"I'll handle it!" Mikasa yelled as she ran ahead to take on the beast. "Huh?!" She gasped when you flew passed her, and from above the approaching Titan, Rico could be seen flying down in rage.

"Out of the way!!" Captain Rico roared with rage as she landed and stabbed the Titan's left eye out before ripping her blades away through more flesh.

"GGGRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" You yelled as you flew at the beast with full speed and jammed your last blades into its right eye as Rico grabbed you by your collar and pulled you away. "Finish it!!!!" You yelled as you were carried to safety by Rico and the Titan roared while falling on its rear end, blind.

"Gah...!" Mikasa grunted as she ran and jumped over the Titan's hand and slid across the ground behind it before latching onto its back and flying towards the nape. "HHHHAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!" She screamed with all her might as she pierced its flesh and from one end to the other, sliced off the Titan's nape in one cutas it fell to the ground and cleared the path for Eren, taking step after step and closing in on the gate as Armin watched with emotional tears in his eyes as he yelled for his friend.

"GO, EREN!!!!!!!!!!" Armin screamed at the top of his lungs as the flame in Eren's heart exploded and he raised the boulder up.

"FIGHT!!!!!" Eren yelled in his mind while he roared and smashed the boulder stuck into the gate, sealing it as a huge gust of wind blew through the area.

Everyone who had witnessed the sight before them was speechless and frozen in place as they couldn't believe the plan had actually succeeded. The embers of house fires that were carried by the wind didn't obscure yours and Rico's visions and the two of you were jaw-dropped as she support you with your arm slung over her shoulder and watched as Eren's Titan collapsed onto his rear end and ceased all movements. The two of you collapsed to your knees as tears welled in your eyes and streamed down your blood covered face as you began to tremble. Rico soon collected her bearings as well and became teary eyed as you wrapped your arms around her and began to lightly sob while she reached for her flare gun.

"Everyone...You didn't die in vain..." Rico said while loading her flare with a yellow smoke round and wrapped one arm around you as your sobbing became louder and louder while she raised her other hand and fired the flare into the air. "Today, for the first time, humanity has defeated the Titans!" Rico said as you finally broke and cried loudly into Rico's shoulder while gripping her jacket as she knelt down with you and let her tears run free as well while bearing witness to this historic event.

After breaking down over the first victory that humans had attained over the Titans, now was not the time to celebrate or cry. There were still an incredible amount of Titans in the city and with you and the elite squad in complete disarray over the last sequence of events, extracting from Trost and more importantly getting Eren away to safety, was going to be a difficult task. You quickly wiped your tears and gathered your bearings as the two of you made your way to Eren. You zipped up to help Mikasa and Armin take Eren out of his Titan, while Rico stood on guard and saw two Titans heading towards you all.

"The rest of the Titans are coming! Get up the walls!" Rico yelled as she looked up.

"A little...Hard to do that right now...! Ngh!" You grunted as you tried to pull Eren out from the muscle fibers connecting him to his Titan.

"He's so hot, I can barely believe it! We need to hurry up the walls...!" Armin said while struggling with you as the two of you tried to carefully take Eren out. 

"What's wrong?" Rico asked as she zipped up to see what was taking so long.

"Part of his body is fusing with the Titan. We can't pull him out!" Armin said as the two of you still struggled while the muscle fibers continued to hang on tight.

"We'll have to cut him out." Rico said with a hint of displease at the decision.

"W-Wait!" Mikasa tried to stop her, but Rico continued with her blade.

"Oh, this is gonna suck if he loses another arm! Hope Eren doesn't mind losing a finger or two! Hngh!" You groaned as you pulled hard enough for Rico to cut a place that was far enough from Eren's arms that he wouldn't be injured.

In one slash, Rico cut the muscle fibers that bound Eren to his Titan, and once he was released, you and Armin fell off the Titan's back and landed on its bent back leg. You groaned from the hard landing and tried to get up, but before you could, a giant shadow was casts over you, Armin and Eren as you both turned back to see two Titans standing over you with their mouths wide open.

"Oh no...!" You gasped as you tried to pick up Eren.

"Eren! Y/N! Armin!" Mikasa yelled with fear as one of the Titan's reached down for you three, and at the same time, Eren gained some consciousness and opened his eyes.

Before thee two beasts could lay their hands on the three of you, two figures suddenly appeared above the Titans and flew towards them with great speeds. The next thing that could be heard was the sound of flesh being cut and ODM gear spurting gas as the two Titans became limp and fell hard to the ground as steam poured from their napes. The two figures stood over each Titan they had respectively taken out as Mikasa jumped down to assist you two in getting Eren up. Just then, as you helped Eren up to his feet, the four of you stared up in wonder at the two people who had just saved your lives, and as they stood their with the hot wind blowing through their cloaks, you noticed as there was enough light to highlight something embroidered on their cloaks. It was a pair of wings...

"That's..." Mikasa trailed off as you couldn't believe your eyes at who had just arrived to Trost.

"Wings of freedom..." Eren thought as a short man turned back towards the four of you with a scowl.

"Hey, brats. What's going on here?" The man asked as the four of you couldn't even find the words to try and answer him.

"Y/N?" You heard a female voice as you turned towards the other figure in confusion of hearing your name. "Is that you...Y/N...?" The female voice asked as you looked up and tried to make out the woman's face.

"Huh?" You hummed, but the moment the light finally made things visible in your eyes, you were stunned to see who was standing above you. "...Sarah...?" You said in a low tone as the two of you stared at one another in absolute disbelief of your reunion with your older sister.

After an awkward stance and not knowing what to say, Captain Levi ordered Sarah to stop whatever she was doing and follow his lead. With a displeased face, she bid you farewell and followed her captain as you stood there with your jaw agape, watching your sister leave as members of the Survey Corps flew down from atop the walls and stormed the city. Afterwards, the sudden arrival and assistance of the Survey Corps, along with the efforts of the Garrison's engineers, allowed Wall Rose to withstand the Titans once more. A full day had passed in order to eradicate the remaining Titans that were trapped within Trost, and the barrage of fixed canon fire from atop the walls was endless. Heavy Explosive rounds killed most of the Titans swarming the walls, while any stragglers were finished off the by the Survey Corps. During the clean up operation, humanity managed to take one four-meter class and one seven-meter class Titan live. However, with two hundred and seven dead or missing, and eight hundred and ninety seven wounded, the victory that was achieved had costs too much for anyone to celebrate about it. After all operations to clear the city of Titans were finished and two days had passed, it was now time to retrieve the dead and cleanse the city before disease could spread among the population.

"What the hell...?" You muttered with an utterly shocked and horrified look on your face as you stood next to Sasha who shared the same expression at what you were looking at.

Standing in an open road, you were stood almost limp in the middle of the road you were in, staring at a giant mass of chewed up and mangled humans. The corpses were bound and stuck inside a sort of stick and thick fluid that was spray across the wall and ground it sat against. Even from where you were standing, the stench it gave off had forced its way through your masks, and your stomach was wrenching as an officer stood next to you two.

"Where a Titan threw up. They don't have digestive organs. So after they've eaten all they can, they throw up like that..." The officer explained as you gritted your teeth behind your mask.

"That's so..." Sasha couldn't even think of words to describe how horrible the scene before her was.

"Damn...There's no way to identify anyone in this!" The officer said as you walked pass with a scraping knife and placed your hand that was inside a glove on the ball of humans.

"Damn those things...dammit all...!" You thought in frustration as you pierced the sack to try and cut away the individuals and their pieces.

You and all your remaining friends and the rest of the military who was available, spent the day recovering dead bodies and burning them in huge piles. Every now and then, you would encounter the bodies of people you had met in the cadet corps. Some you could make out, others you were barely able to tell was them based off certain things on their mangled bodies. After hours of grueling work and burning bodies of your comrades and friends, night had finally cast its shadow upon the world. You were stood in front of a three burning fires burning the last few bodies to bone, standing there with a sad and lifeless look on your face as your friends stood behind you. Stood behind you was Reiner, Annie, Bertolt, Ymir, Krista, Sasha and sniffling behind you was Connie, who was sat on the ground after finally breaking down after everything that happened. You wanted to try and support him, but you didn't have the words to say, and had no tears left to let out. All you had left in you was to watch the bones of the dead turn to ash before your eyes. Hearing footsteps coming closer to your left, you averted your eyes to see Jean walk up next to you and crouch down, picking up fragments of bones that flew off the bones from the fire.

"Hey, Marco...I can't even tell which are your bones anymore." Jean said as you showed some reaction to hearing about Marco's death, though all your body managed was a slight nudge and your lips parting slightly.

"So, even Marco's gone..." You thought as you turned toward the fire and the image of Marco's kind smile flashed in your mind, but that image faded as you turned back to Jean to see how he was doing. Surprisingly though, you saw him staring up towards your direction with a shocked look on his face as this confused and worried you. "Huh? Jean?" You turned and called to him as he held that same gaze for a few moments before seemingly snapping out of his trance and gripping the fist that held the burned bone fragment as you raised your brow at him

"Ngh! Ghhh!!" Jean took a sharp breath as you watched him get to his feet and look towards the fire. "Hey, guys..." Jean said, getting everyone's attention as your friends all turned towards him and turned to face them with a strange look plastered on his face, one of nervousness. "Have you decided which one you're joining? I have." He said as you all looked with confusion as he brought his hand up the held the bone fragment and clutched his right wrist tightly with his left. "I...I..." He seemed to struggle as you grew concerned for him, but the next thing he said put you in disbelief. "...I'm joining the Survey Corps!" He said which shocked everyone as he slowly broke down and trembled as he sobbed while clutching the bone fragment he held.

You stood in shock and disbelief of what he had just announced to you and your friends, but as you were going to retaliate against his decision, you felt a warm and gentle hand fall upon your shoulder. Turning around to see who it was, you gasped when you saw Marco with his hand on your shoulder as he stared at Jean, and not believing your own eyes, you closed and rubbed them with your hands to try and check your vision. After rubbing there for a few moments and opening your eyes, you came to the sight of the burning fire pit in front of you and Marco was no longer there. Taking this as a sign of sorts, you just slowly turned around and walked towards Jean before pulling him to your shoulder with one hand as he continued sob and you held him close, letting him let all of his feelings out for the night. Looking down at Connie, you extended your hand towards him as he looked up and saw you looking at him with a sad smile on your face as his tears seemed to stream down even more as he took your hand and pressed his forehead against the side of your shoulder while sobbing as well. After that, Sasha suddenly joined in and wrapped her arms around the two of them while pressing her forehead against yours and letting some wails and tears of her own out as the four of you stood there supporting one another. You four held onto one another for some time before the fire slowly began to die out and everyone had been order to turn in for the night. After heading back to the military's temporary operating base outside of and laying in bed, your mind flashed back to your sister and her sudden reunion with you as you spun the pair of rings you were given by your mother around your finger, and held your father's ring that was around your middle finger.

"Where are you..." You thought as you closed your eyes turned over to your left to try and fall asleep. "...father...?" You thought as exhaustion finally had overcome your body and you fell into a deep sleep after the most horrifying experience you've ever had in your entire life.
