Alexa's Point of View

"Why is he.. like that?" I asked Haley.

"I don't know," She said. "He's going through a lot right now."

"Oh," I said. "How so!"

She shrugged, "He won't really open up to me. I'm sure it has something to do with his dad though."

I slowly nodded my head, "Got it."

"Just don't take anything he says to heart," Haley said. "I want to be your friend because you're cool, none of that Aaron bullshit. Trust me."

"Thanks Hale," I said leaning into her for a hug.

"I told him he can come back," Haley said. "I just wanted him to go outside and blow of some steam."

"He's still out there?" I asked her.

She shrugged, "I don't know, probably."

I got up and started walking towards the door, "You ready to leave Lex?" Asked Hamzah.

I shook my head, "No, I think I just need some air." He nodded and looked back at Chase, they seemed to be getting along well.

I put my hand on the knob, mentally preparing myself to try and talk to Aaron. After what Haley said, I felt sorry for him. Sure, it was no excuse for him to act the way he was, but I began to understand him a little more.

I opened the door and stepped outside, the cold wind painting my nose and cheeks pink. I looked around, where was he? I kept walking until I saw a car, the lights on inside. It was a Prius. Aaron drove a Prius?

I walked over to the passenger side and knocked on the window and waved. He rolled down the window, "What do you want?"

"To talk," I said. "Let me in?"

He sighed and I heard a click. It must've been the door unlocking. I opened the door and sat next to him. He wouldn't look at me, he was just staring out his window.

"Aaron?" I asked.

"What?" He huffed out looking over at me.

"I'm sorry about before," I said.

"Why are you apologizing?" He asked, his words slurring, was he drunk?

"Are you trying to drive home?" I asked him.

"I- yes," He said.

"You reek of alcohol," I said crossing my arms.

"So?" He asked.

"You're drunk Aaron, you can't drive home like this," I said tilting my head. "I can bring you home if you want."

"No," He shook his head and put his head in his hands.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

"I'm sorry Alexa," He said looking over to me, his eyes teary.

"Aaron, it's okay," I tried comforting him. "Don't be upset, I forgive you."

"I really liked you Alexa," He said.

"Huh?" I asked.

"In your freshman year," He explained.

"Two years ago?" I asked.

"We had art together. You always did really good. But I could never get your attention, no matter what I did. I would try and be funny or stupid even, but you could never take your eyes off of him.."

"Him?" I asked.

"Hamzah!" He breathed out.

"Hamzah..?" I asked. "He's like.. my brother."

"Of course," Aaron laughed throwing his head back in anger.

"Aaron, I'm sorry I didn't know you liked me," I said.

"I felt so dumb," He shook his head.

"It's okay Aaron," I said. "I'm sorry I never paid attention to you. I just.. you were older and that was just so.. intimidating.."

He nodded his head, "Yeah."

"Do you want to go back inside?" I asked him.

"No," He shook his head. "I want to go home."

"Hamzah and I will bring you home," I said. "You really shouldn't drive home like this."

He sighed, "Okay fine."

"Good," I said getting out his car. "Now give me your keys."

"My keys..?"

"I want to be sure you won't drive," I shrugged holding out my hands.

He sighed and placed his keys in the palm of my hand, "Thank you," I said.

I grabbed his hand and led him back inside Haley's house.

"Hamzah we should bring Aaron home," I said.

Hamzah gave me a question look, I widened my eyes at him, motioning him to just do it, "Okay yeah," He gave in.

"Let's go Aaron," I said grabbing his hand and pulling him to Hamzah's car. He kept stumbling so I had to hold him upright.

"Thanks guys," He slurred.

I opened Hamzah's car door to the backseat, placing Aaron. He laid down in the back as I skipped to the passenger side, getting in.

"Hey Aaron, you good to go home drunk? Your parents won't care?" Hamzah turned around to ask him, but Aaron stayed quiet.

"Is he asleep?" I looked at Aaron then to Hamzah.

"I think so.." Hamzah said looking back at me. "Shit Alexa, this is so weird, never would I thought Aaron Hull would be drunk and asleep in my car."

"I know Hamzah, you're socially awkward," I said laughing causing him to nudge my shoulder.

"I'll just text Haley," He said pulling his phone out.

I cocked an eyebrow at him, "You're gonna text Haley..?"

"Yeah," He said. "She gave me her number."

"Did you ask for it?" I asked him.

"Nope," He said. "She just gave it to me while you were outside."

"Oh okay," I said still confused as I leaned back in the seat.

"Okay, she said that we can sneak him through the back door?" He said confused. "A key under the flower pot..?"

"Okay," I said slowly. "This is gonna be.. an experience."

"Yup," Hamzah said starting his car and began to drive towards Aaron's house.

While Hamzah drove he decided to speak up, "So you guys are like.. good now?" Hamzah asked.

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"Well what happened?"

"He said he liked me.. freshman year. He was in our art class?"

"Yeah I think," Hamzah said, keep his eyes on the dark road ahead of him.

I nodded slowly, "He liked me and then stopped because I never noticed him. I only noticed you."

"Wait me?" Hamzah asked. "He's mad because we sat together?"

"I guess," I shrugged. "Maybe he was just jealous."

"I sure do hope he's asleep," Hamzah laughed.

I shook my head, "Seriously, I can't believe he once liked me.."

"Get over yourself," Hamzah said laughing causing me to smile.

"You're so annoying Hamz," I said as Hamzah pulled up to Aaron's house.

"Okay, I'll bring him inside," I said. "Just stay here."

"You sure you got this by yourself?" Hamzah asked.

"I'll be fine," I smiled.

I went to the backseat and shook Aaron awake, "Aaron.. we're at your house."

His eyes slowly fluttered open, "We're here?"

"Mhm," I said. "Get up. It's home sweet home."

I helped him up and out of the car, "Let's go."

His arm was swung around my shoulder as we walked around the side of his house, finally making it to the back.

"Key.. key.." I muttered to myself looking for the plant pot, there was like ten pots.

"Aaron, which plant?" I asked him.

"The smaller one," He said, his eyes squinted, he pointed to a small plant that sat on a little table.

I reached down to lift the plant, almost slipping, "Shit Aaron, you good?" I asked.

"Mhm.." He slurred off.

I grabbed the key and unlocked the glass sliding door, bringing him into the house.

"Who are you?" Asked a man, I'm assuming was his dad.

"Uh.." I trailed off. "A friend of Aaron's."

"Just leave him on that couch, I can take it from here," He angrily said.

"I can-"

"Just go," He said interrupting me.

I nodded my head and placed Aaron on the couch, "Bye Aaron," I whispered and left out through the back.

I closed the glass door behind me and just stood there for a second. Did I just screw everything up? Would he be in trouble?

As I started walking back to Hamzah's car, I heard yelling and crashing from inside the house. Should I just mind my business and keep walking? I should at least just check..

I walked over to a window, going onto the tips of my toes to peek through the blinds. Aaron and his dad were brawling, it seemed like Aaron was getting his ass beat even.

"Shit," I whispered to myself, I couldn't just watch this happened.

I raced back to the sliding glass door and slid it open.

"What the fuck are you doing back here?" His dad turned back to look at me.

I stood there, my chest rising and falling quickly, I was in shock, I wasn't sure what to say.

His dad started to walk towards me, "Get away from her!" Aaron shouted and shoved his dad back.

"Aaron just-"

"Go Alexa!" Aaron shouted. "You're gonna make everything worse!"

His dad fell back into a rack of wine. Aaron grabbed his dad by the shirt and pulled him back up.

"Aaron!" I shouted. "Just let him go!"

"He's a dick Alexa!" Aaron shouted back. "He just went to freak out on you!"

A woman came running down the stairs, "Aaron?!" Was that his mom.

"Aaron what are you doing?" Asked his mom. "Oh my god.."

"Your boyfriend's a piece of shit mom," Aaron said and looked over to me.

"Aaron just come with me," I said.

"Go Aaron," His mom said with her hands on her hips.

He walked over to me and shut the glass door, "What the fuck do you think you're doing Alexa?"

"Helping you!" I shouted back. "Look, your face is all busted, you reek of alcohol, and now your mom and dad are-"

"He's not my dad," Aaron said angrily.

"Okay I'm sorry just.. come home with me."

He furrowed his eyebrows, "What?"

"Please," I said. "I'd feel a lot better knowing you're not.. here."

He rolled his eyes, "Okay."

We walked back to Hamzah's car. Hamzah didn't notice at first until he looked out the window to see Aaron and I walking back.

"What the fuck happened in there?" Hamzah asked.

"Long story short, my mom's has a shitty boyfriend," Aaron said sitting in the backseat.

"Did anyone touch you?" Hamzah asked narrowing his eyes at me.

"No," I shook my head.

"Wait so where am I taking you?" Hamzah said looking through his rear view mirror.

"My place," I said.

"Your place?" Hamzah said. "That doesn't sound like a good idea."

"We'll sneak into my window," I shrugged. "It'll be fine."

Hamzah took a deep breath, "If you say so."

Hamzah drove us to my house, the car ride was silent. Eventually, we arrived at my house, "Bye Hamzah," I said leaned over for a hug. "I'll text you."

"Be careful," Hamzah said. "Keep me updated. Yeah?"

"Got it," I said. "Let's go Aaron." Aaron followed me out the car, "This way to my window."

Never did I think I'd be sneaking Aaron into my room through my window. I helped him into my window as he still was pretty drunk.

"Okay just stay in here," I whispered to him as I left through the window.

I went to the front of my house and unlocked the door, "I'm home mom!" I called and walked towards my room.

I opened my door to reveal Aaron sound asleep on my bed, I should text Hamzah.

Me: He's asleep.

I shut my phone off. And changed into my pajamas, looking over at him every few seconds to ensure he was sleeping and not watching me change. I climbed into bed next to him, trying not to wake him, hopefully he wouldn't find this weird in the morning.
