Chapter Twenty-Two: The Calm Before The Storm

That morning, once the couple was dressed, Loki surprised Tasha by making her breakfast. He had never cooked for her before, so she was surprised when he was able to create an intricate dish.

"Since when are you a Chef?"

"Since I've wanted to impress you." Loki said with a smile as he sat across from her as the two began to eat.

"Holy shit, Loki. This tastes amazing!" Tasha nearly moaned as she scuffed down another forkful.

"I do not think I'll ever get used to your vulgar language, darling." He smirked. "But thank you... although, I'm certain you taste better."

Tasha blushed before rolling her eyes. "Whatever you say, darling." She copied his accent with a smirk of her own.

"I've noticed your accent has come back for the most part." Loki assessed, reaching forward to twirl her hair around his fingers.

"It's not like I've been around you for over a month." Tasha replied sarcastically. "I'm surprised I haven't died of boredom."

"Ouch." Loki feigned shock before gently grasping her chin between his fingers. "Careful, darling."

Tasha smiled faded slightly as she looked down at her plate. Loki let her face go but continued to gaze at her. "What is it?"

"We..." Tasha paused briefly. "We have to go back, Loki."

"We're back to this again?" Loki sighed. "I know you want to help them, darling, but how do you expect to stop her? She broke Thor'S hammer like it was a piece of glass!"

"Which is why we need to find a way to stop her! We can't just leave our people defenceless against her!"

"Tasha, please listen to me. There's nothing we can do! My magic only can do so much, and yours... you said it yourself that something is wrong. We can't risk your life on the off chance your powers will work."

"I can't just abandon them, Loki! I — I watched our friends die! Okay?! I saw it. I still see it now! I can feel when Hela kills our people, and when she killed The Warrior Three... it was like my entire body was on fire."

Loki frowned. "You never told me."

"I didn't wish to talk Upon it." Tasha shrugged sadly. "I saw her... she killed Fandral in a mere moment of being on Asgard."

"Of course you mention Fandral." Loki muttered.

"Put your jealousy aside, Loki."

Loki shook his head. "What do you want me to do?"

Tasha sighed. "I — I don't know... Find us a way off this planet and I'll think of something... Do you think Thor will show up?"

"I honestly doubt it. We've been here nearly a month and haven't seen him." Loki admitted as he motioned for her to come to him.

Tasha moved so she was sitting on his lap. Loki kissed the side of her head. "I'm sorry you had to witness all of that."

"It's not fair, Loki. I'm losing everyone and I don't think I can handle losing anyone else."

"Hey, look at me."

Tasha sighed in defeat as she looked at him.

"You're not going to lose anyone, Tasha. I'm here, aren't I? And I don't plan on going anywhere but with you." Loki smiled adoringly at her, caressing her cheek. "You are the strongest person I know, darling. We'll figure all of this out together."

"I hope you're right."
