Chapter 31: The True Covenant

"We're here, Boss."

Vito said after pulling the car at one corner, some distance away from the Headquarter. Hordes of SUVs were parked in front of the buildings and there were tight securities in and around the perimeter of the buildings. The building was secured but the parking lot was opened.

"What do we do now? This is high ground, we cannot enter inside." Cyrus said glancing around of headquarter through the window. Anna opened her window and leaned forward, scanning the neighbouring buildings around. She narrowed her eyes at the far away roof of the building.

"Cyrus, the binocular," She asked and extended her hand forward. He passed the binocular to her and she quickly kept it in her eyes and looked at the building.

"Sniper," She said and scanned towards the other buildings. Then she went to the other side of the window and did the same. After some moments of seeing through the binocular, she closed the window and leaned against the seat in annoyance and worries. She spotted four snipers and all their position were towards the parking lot or the entrance of the building. "Four snipers—two to the left, one to the front and one to the right," She said.

"What do we do?" Cyrus asked in wide eyes open.

"We have to warn them before the Covenant is over," Vito said in thought.

"Drive-in," Anna said.

"What? But the securities—"

"Just do as I say," Anna interrupted and urged him. Vito nodded at her and started the engine. But they were halted when they reach in front of the gate and the securities pulled out their guns and pointed toward the car. Anna slides her window down and soon some of the securities noticed her—the Harondale's men.

"Boss, what're you doing here?" Lucas asked as he slowly lowered his gun.

"I need to see my brothers," Anna answered.

"But they're—"

"Take me to them—now. It's urgent." Anna interrupted him and said sternly. Lucas nodded at her and let them pass through. Once the car pulled in front of the entrance, Anna got out of the car and Lucas appeared beside her.

"The Don will not be happy to see you here, Boss." Lucas shook his head as he led her inside.

"I don't care," Anna said quietly.

"Anna, what are you doing here?" Matteo asked in wide eyes opened when he saw her approaching towards them with Lucas.

"I tried calling you all but I can't reach any of you so I had to come." She nearly yelled at him.

"All the phone services are detached within the perimeter," Matteo informed courtly. "What brings you here?"

"I need to see my brothers," She said and quickly passed by him. But then Alvero came forth and stopped her from walking further.

"I cannot let you in, Anna. They're in the middle of the Covenant." Alvero said seriously. Soon Matteo reached her and stood in front of her.

"Move," She urged sternly darting between them. But they didn't proceed. "The Sylvester's has planned on killing the Don. I have to alert him." Her words caught them and they went tense in their position. Anna took this opportunity of their off guard. She quickly walked passed by them and pushed opened the door.

"Anna,"

The first person she caught eyes were those beautiful icy blue eyes and she immediately ran towards him. Leo took a step towards him and he was soon embraced into a tight hug. Anna threw herself at him and hugged him tightly, resting her arms around the back of his neck. Leo wrapped his hands around her back but he was still in shock to see her here.

"What are you doing here?" Leo asked softly. Anna pulled away and glared up at him.

"I called you numbers of time but you never answered my calls. I tried calling your brothers and my brothers too but I couldn't reach any of you so I had to come." She nearly yelled at him. "And you, didn't we promise not to hide anything from each other, why didn't you tell me about the Covenant?" She gave him an accusation look.

Leo stood there in composed, she was looking so cute and sexy at the same time in her right-now-mood and he was trying his best not to pin her against the wall and kiss her breathlessly. But he is aware the people are watching them and he has to control his emotions.

"Tessa," Joshua's voice rang inside her head and she blinked hard twice before coming back to sense. Her eyes went wide in shock when she noticed the groups of men inside and gasped out loud. Her hand automatically reached for her mouth and covered it. All eyes were on her and Leo.

"Tessa," Joshua reached for her and turned her to face him. "What are you doing here?"

"One of our men leaked information to the Sylvester about the Covenant. I tried calling all of you to warn you all but I couldn't reach any of you. I couldn't have any option but to come here. There are snipers ready on the other buildings to kill—I don't know who their target is but I guess they're here for the Dons." Anna said and took a deep breath.

"Alvero, take care of it," Leo ordered to which Alvero nodded at him. Matteo and Alvero scurried away from the hall. Anna glanced around and saw only men inside the hall—there was not a single woman present.

"I thought the covenant was a family meeting. Why do I see only men and no women?" Anna asked glanced around towards the groups of gentlemen. She recognized some of her Uncles and cousins.

"The Covenant is only meant for the men of the families," Marcus answered with a tad of amusement in his voice. Anna turned her head towards him and simply stared at him. Marcus stood up from his seat and spread his arms for her. She smiled immediately and placed herself between his arms.

"You have become more beautiful, dear," Marcus chuckled and patted on her back. "Glad to see you,"

"Glad to see you too, Nonno," Anna pulled away and smiled at him.

"So she is the one—the only granddaughter of the Harondale Empire," Ramos stated staring at Anna. Not only him—but all the De Luca's eyes were on her. Anna was known well as the missing girl among the mafias but nobody has seen her—only a few saw her. "What's going on between you two, Leo? Is she the reason behind for calling in for Alliance so that you can be with her?" he asked in a displeased tone.

Leo went towards Anna and took her hand into his. "I love her." He stated firmly and looked at Ramos, "Do you have any problem with that?" he raised an eyebrow at him and dared him to speak.

"I have," Romero grunted and stood up from his place. "When my daughter fell in love with the Harondale, we didn't have any choice but to follow the Absolute. And now that you fell for one, you went to abolish it for yourself." He growled angrily.

"You say you didn't have a choice," Anna said calmly and jerked forward. Leo held firmly on her hand but she nodded at him saying it's okay and she strolled towards him. "But you are wrong, Sir. You had a choice but you chose wrong. You had a choice to choose between the Absolute and your daughter. Did you ever for once think of fighting for your daughter, did you, Sir?" She asked him as rage spike up inside her veins. Romero was taken aback by her words and he slowly levelled down his eyes as sadness and guilt washed over him.

Then she turned on her heels and faced towards her families, "Did you ever try to talk to him, understand him and fight for him? Did you, Zio?" She said looking at her Zio, Moreno—Charlie's father. "Didn't you think of him as your son before you put a bullet right through his heart?" Anna couldn't help but cry as tears of grief fell through her cheeks. She felt bad for what happened to her cousin—she felt grief for Rebecca and her son.

"And you all blame it to the Absolute while you all could have come together and fought against it. But you were all blinded by rules and regulations that you couldn't see the sufferings your children were going through."

"If you have shown some concern and approach your children, this day wouldn't have come. If you have fight for them, then the Absolute wouldn't have lasted this long and many souls would have been saved." She said quietly. "If you have chosen to fight for your daughter or son like my brothers did for me, you wouldn't have lived your life in guilt and regret. You wouldn't have lived your life full of resentment." She prodded darting between families.

"I know Reginald and Marcus was the creator of The Absolute. But did you ever thought of approaching them? Did they force you to kill your own children? No—it was all inside your head and you let it take over in absolute control." Anna couldn't help but say what she has to say. She knows she has to stop but she didn't.

"Yes, Leo and I fell in love and we sacrificed our love for The Absolute five years ago. But it was not worth sacrificing, there was no happiness or peace—only sufferings. Love can overcome any obstacles. Our family loved us and fought for us and because of it, we are here—here for a new beginning to make everyone's life better." Then she made her way towards her families' rows and stood in front of them. "I know most of you have lost your sons and daughters," She said in grief and glanced at her Uncles. "And I know nobody can ever replace them. But Zio, we are also your children, are we not?" She said under her sniffle.

"Yes, you are," Rino came forth and said softly before giving her a gentle hug. "And I'm sorry for everything," he whispered softly and pulled away. Then he made his way forward and stood some step away from Romero, "Romero, let's forget the past and make our personal peace. I know we both lost our children but we didn't lose everyone. They are all our children. For our children, let's end this resentment for once and for all and make peace to ourselves and to everyone." He said sincerely and extended his hand for peace.

Romero came forth and stood a step away from him. "For our children," He said and shook his head. And soon the families stood up from their place and exchange their personal peace for once and for all. Anna welled in tears as she gazed at their families exchanging sincere words and promises. The Absolute was over and peace was made between every single member between their families.

"I'm proud of you, my love," Joshua came to her and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "This is the true Alliance I wanted to see earlier while signing in for the Covenant." He hugged her firmly and Anna sniffled under his chest. "And you did It." he complimented her before pulling away.

"Tessa," Vernon came running and embraced her into a huge bear hug. "I'm so proud of you, Princess." He said as she shook her side by side under their hug. "For once, I thought you were playing a role of freedom fighter," he teased before pulling away. Anna chuckled under her sniffled and rubbed her tears away.

Leo wanted to go to Anna but he got involved in exchanging words with his families.

"I told you right, sons," Dario and Diego came beside sons of the family. "The Harondale's women are the real beauties."

"That's true," Armando agreed and he started at Anna in amazement.

"Now stop goggling at our sister-in-law," Alesso chuckled as he closed Rocco mouth by pushing his finger over his chin.

"She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life," Rocco said in admiration.

"Yes, she is." Alesso agreed, feeling proud.

"Stop it, both of you." Nicolo came in front of Armando and Rocco and blocked their way from seeing at Anna. "Leo won't be happy if he finds out that you both were goggling at his woman." He warned them amusedly.

Then suddenly, the door flew opened and Alvero and Matteo entered in.

"Don," Both of them said in unison and bowed in accord. "The matter is taken care of, four of them—Sylvester's men," Alvero informed.

"Did you check in around?" Leo asked.

"Yes, Don. The area is secured from miles away now. The families can leave now." Alvero answered. Then Leo turned towards the families.

"Thank you all for coming. Have a safe journey." He said in accord and gave them a farewell nod.

And leisurely the families left one after the other after exchanging goodbye nods.

"Do you have to go? Why don't you stay for a while? I'll talk with your brothers." Leo asked as he cupped her cheek gently.

"Well, it's not up to us," Joshua said amusedly. Leo chuckled and glanced at him before returning his gaze back to Anna.

"I can't stay. I rushed here all of a sudden. My patients will be waiting for me." She said and gave him an apologetic smile. Leo frowned over and sighed in exasperation.

"I thought I can make you stay," Leo said amusedly and rubbed the back of his head. "I'm very sorry, Gentlemen but can you please give us some moment?" he requested glancing at the men present inside the hall.

"C'mon, gentlemen, our Don needs some privacy," Marcus said in a mischief tone before strolling out from the hall along with Reginald.

"Tessa, we'll be waiting outside," Joshua said in an amused tone before turning on his heels. Vernon and Samuel gave them a mischievous smirked before following behind him.

"C'mon Armando, we got something to discuss," Alesso rested his arm over his shoulder. Then he winked at Anna before walking out of the hall along with Armando. Nicolo and Rocco followed them. Roberto was the last to leave. As soon as Roberto closed the door, Leo turned to face Anna and gave her a devilish smile.

"Finally, two of us," he leaned down and whispered huskily over her ear. He placed a soft kiss at the crook of her neck. A soft moan escaped her lips as she felt sensation running all over her body. Ever since they shared their physical relationship over the weekend, Leo has been wanting for more of her. He has always wanted her but after their first-ever lovemaking moment; he couldn't help but want her for more.

"You don't know how much I wanted to kiss you earlier." He whispered softly as he cupped both her cheeks.

"Kiss me already," Anna whispered shyly as her eyes linger on his lips. Leo gave her a handsome smile before crashing his lips into hers. He wanted to kiss her hungrily but he didn't. He knows her—she's a sweet, loving, shy girl when it comes to physical contact. He kissed her passionately but gently. They both pulled away and rested their forehead onto each other as they panted for air.

"You were like a Goddess earlier," Leo said softly and kissed her forehead. "I'm glad that you came here, I was longing to see you." He added in a smile and rubbed their noses together. "My Goddess Athena." He grinned widely and tugged some strands of hair at the back of her ear and brushed his fingers on her cute bangs, adjusting it.

"Athena is the Goddess of Victory," Anna smiled and wrapped her arms at the back of his neck. "We won, Leo. Now there's nothing stopping us," she said and placed a soft peck on his lips. "By the way, did I say that you're looking really hot and sexy in your all-black expensive suit?" she teased and she rested her palms over his chest.

"You know you should stay with me tonight and I can show you how hot and sexy I can get on the bed." He whispered lowly and stared at her with intense and dark eyes. Anna blushed in redness and shyly looked away from him. He always enjoys seeing her blushing over his little dirty talks. "Just kidding," He chuckled softly and placed a soft kiss on her lips.

"You know I can't stay," She said quietly but in shyness, not meeting his eyes.

"I know," He said softly. "Come now, let's go now or our families might misunderstand us if we stay any longer." He rolled his eyes over. Anna giggled before nodding at him. He placed his hand on her back and led her out of the hall.

"That was quick," Roberto straightened up from the wall and came beside them. Alesso and the others joined them soon. "I thought you might spend the night inside." He wiggled his brows in a teasing manner at Leo. "Here's your gun," he threw his gun to him. Leo caught it on his hand and stuffed it on his waistband.

"Anna, you're blushing," Alesso pointed out and gave her a teasing smirked. Anna blushed harder and palmed her face in embarrassment, snuggling under Leo's chest.

"Stop bothering my girl," Leo gave his brothers a warning look but he just received cheeky grins and teasing smirks from his brothers. He shook his head at them before walking ahead along with Anna. "You okay, honey!"

"I'm fine," She said as she straightened up. Leo got busy talking with his brothers as they walked towards the entrance. Then suddenly her eyes caught up to a man in a suit coming straight towards them. He seems to be one of the securities on guard and his eyes was fixed at Leo—no emotions, just blank expression. Her eyes went wide when she saw the man flicked on his switchblade and jabbed towards Leo. But before the switchblade could make contact on Leo's stomach, Anna quickly held on his wrist and twisted it and let the switchblade fell on the ground. Then she kicked him to the floor. The gentlemen became aware and quickly pulled out their guns and pointed at the man. Leo quickly pulled her under his chest, not letting her see the scene. Anna jerked violently as she heard a bullet going off—the bullet of murder.

Soon Joshua and the others came running with guns ready in their hands when they heard a bullet going off.

"What happened?"Joshua asked as he glanced at the body on the floor.

"He is a suicide call," Roberto said as he scanned through the dead body and saw a mark tattooed on the wrist. "He was disguised as one of the securities."

"Alvero, take care of this mess," Leo ordered. Alvero nodded at him and soon the men took the body away from the place.

"He must have earned billions to kill you," Alesso said glancing at Leo. "If Anna didn't stop him, you would have been stabbed." He said in a worried tone.

Then suddenly Anna started to cry under his chest and embrace her arms around him tightly.

"He nearly stabbed you," Anna muttered under his chest.

"But he didn't, you saved me, Mio coure." Leo wrapped his arms around her and kissed at the top of his head. Then he gently pulled her away and came face to face. "Don't cry, Mio coure, it breaks my heart to see you cry," He said softly and wipes her tears away from her cheeks. She nodded her at him before diverting her gaze to see her brothers but her eyes landed on Antonio, who was standing some feet away behind her brothers. This whole time has been rush that she didn't notice him earlier. Her expression turned in faint anger and hands involuntarily fisted as her mind flashes back to five years ago when her mother was killed by this man.

Beside her, Leo tensed and let out a shakybreath. Even her brothers and the others went stiffed in their position andwatched Anna.
