Lollie Parker

Lollie walked into the school in a good mood.

She hit the corner and Riley grabbed her arm.

"We have changed the life of somebody in this room!" Riley shouted.

Lollie was confused.

"Oh please not me." Zay said.

"I'm happy with my life. I got tall and my teeth came in nicely." Farkle said.

"Yeah, we're not talking about you two." Maya said.

"Oh no. What'd you do?!" Lucas asked.

"Oh Lucas, in your whole history, we know what has always been your biggest regret." Riley said, "baaaah..."

"What's that, why would you do that?!" He shouted.

"BAAAAAH, You used to be a champion sheep rider at the mutton bustin' rodeo, until you fell off of Judy the sheep." Maya said.

"And then you gave up, but you never got over it." Riley asked.

"That is my deepest, darkest secret! No one knows I fell off Judy the sheep except-" Lucas stopped.

He looked over at Lollie and then over towards Zay.

"I wouldn't tell anyone." Lollie said.

"They, they made me Lucas, they, they made me!" Zay yelled.

"How did they make you?" Noah asked.

Zay sighed, "I said, "Y'all wanna hear a great Lucas story?"

"Okay it doesn't matter, I'm over it. I don't think about that day at all." Lucas said, "I fell off that sheep so fast. No one liked me!"

He put his head on Lollie's head.

Their height was extremely different.

"Lucas, you can fix this! Get back on that sheep and be a sheep champion!" Riley said.

Maya smiled, "We have made that possible."

He lifted his head off of hers.

"How? How'd you make that possible?" He asked.

"Show it to him." Riley said.

Maya pulled out a paper and handed it to Lollie.

"Ride Lucas! Ride boy!" Riley shouted.

"We have entered you in..." Maya started.

"The Annual Mutton Busting Tournament!!!" Riley said.

"In Austin, Texas." Lollie read.

"In front of everybody you know!" Maya said.

"Yay!"

"You can't enter me in Mutton Busters, you can't be over eight years old or over fifty-five pounds." Lucas said.

"You are wrong, young Lucas. We entered you last week and your application's been accepted." Maya said.

Riley grabbed the paper from Lollie, "Congratulations, Lucas Friar! You are an official entry in this year's Austin Roundup Rodeo! You will be riding Tombstone the sheep."

"What?! Tombstone?!" Zay shouted, "Well that's the end of you."

"Why is it the end of him?" Lollie asked.

"What's the difference between riding Judy the sheep and Tombstone the sheep?" Riley asked.

"Read it again." Lucas said.

"Blah blah blah, over the age and weight limit for Mutton Busters, blah, you will be placed in the adult rodeo where you will, blah, ride Tombstone the sheep." Maya read.

"Ohh, you only got one word wrong!" He shouted.

"Let's see if they find that one word!" Zay said.

Lollie grabbed the paper and read it in her head, "Bull. Tombstone the Bull."

"She found it." Zay said, "I always knew she was the logical one."

"You signed me up to ride Tombstone the Bull!" Lucas shouted.

Riley smiled, "Are you excited?"

"What's the difference between riding a sheep and riding a bull?" Maya asked.

"Death! Death is the difference!" Lucas shouted.

Lollie faced him, "You'll be fine."

"Lollie, you don't-"

"You're going to be fine because I said so."

Mr. Matthews walked into his classroom.

"Alright. May we begin class?"

""The Railroad"" Mr. Matthews read the board.

"I don't get it." Farkle said.

"What do you mean you don't get it Farkle?" Mr. Matthews asked.

"How does this relate to what's going on in our lives, Hambone?"

"You're just gonna let him call you "Hambone" Matthews?" Maya asked.

"The railroad allowed us to travel great distances. The railroad allowed us to see how other people live. When you see how other people live, it changes you. And I like "Hambone." It's cool." Mr. Matthews said.

"Lollie, rip it up before he finds out!" Lucas said.

Lollie looked back at him, "Who?"

"He's gonna find out and when he does, nothing will stop him!" Lucas said.

"Who!?"

"Oh you'll know who. You'll hear a big boomin' voice. He'll say somethin'. He'll say somethin' like-" Zay started.

A man walked into the classroom,
"This country was built on railroads. I, myself just arrived on the noon train from Austin, Texas and Arkadelphia. Guess why I'm here?"

"Anybody?" Mr. Matthew asked.

"Haha! I'm here 'cause I could not be more proud of my grandboy, Lucas."

He pointed towards Lucas.

Maya smiled, "Pappy Joe. That's your Pappy Joe! That's Pappy Joe! Yes, More stuff!"

"That right there's the first Friar that ever had the courage to ride the most ferocious creature in all of Creation." Pappy Joe said.

"Are we talking about Judy the sheep, Pappy Joe?" Riley asked.

"Haha! Judy the sheep! Remember when you fell off Judy the sheep for about two seconds, boy? Remember that? And we all said it was okay 'cause you were only five years old? So we said it was okay, but it wasn't okay because you were a disgrace to the community and you dragged your family name through the mud-hole right up to this day. You put us in the mud-hole, remember boy?!" Pappy Joe asked.

"Wow. This is actually life and somehow, someway we are all living in it." Lollie said.

"Yes. There is one moment in every man's life that shapes who he is forever. My moment was Judy the sheep."

"Well you know what, Lucas Friar? Forgiven. You get on that bull for more than three seconds, and you will be the master of Tombstone the bull. And I'll tell you I love you. And that's something I never said to another human."

"Should he love him anyway?" Noah asked.

"Can we talk about this?" Mr. Matthews asked.

"Time for talkin's over. I got a permission slip. Babineaux, and Parker, I got one for you too. Come on boys! Let's go ride." Pappy Joe said.

Zay smiled and stood up, "Yeehaw!"

He looked around and saw everyone staring.

"That's slipped out."

"It's now or never." Lucas said.

He stood up with Zay, "You did this!" Lucas shouted.

Lollie looked over at Noah.

"Why didn't you leave with them?"

"Why didn't you?"

"Which Parker was it?" Lollie didn't bother standing, "Go."

Noah smiled and ran out the door.

"Well, if I have to ride Tombstone the bull and die in front of everyone, at least it won't be in front of all my friends."

"Surprise!"

"Hey, it's all my friends and look my girlfriend. Yay."
﹏﹏﹏﹏

"Man, I look good in my "Welcome to Texas," Billy Buckaroo cowboy hat." Farkle said.

"That ain't a hat. That's teacup. This is a hat." Pappy Joe said.

He threw a hat over in Farkle's direction.

He put the hat on his head, "How's it look?"

"Not bad, Farkle. Welcome home."

Maya and Riley walked out and they were all dressed up.

"Well, look at you two little darlins." Pappy Joe said.

"Told you this was the best way to spend all of our allowance money on the first day." Riley said.

"Quit looking at us, Noah." Maya said.

"I'm sorry, Maya. You two look good."

"Oh, thanks."

Lollie walked out and straighten her dress out more.

"Oh, wow." Lucas gawked.

"I haven't seen you in that in a long time." Noah said.

"What does he mean? You didn't just pay for that?" Lucas asked.

"Oh, um. No I've had it for awhile. Our dad had a job before being an artist and it was here." Lollie explained, "Well, not exactly here, but here in Texas."

"Well, you still look very beautiful." Lucas said.

"Thank you."

"Yeah, all three of y'all look good." Farkle said.

"You know what this place needs?" Riley asked, "A bay window."

She picked up a chair and sat down on it, "Bay window, right now."

Maya and Lollie looked at each other.

Maya sat on a saddle and Lollie sat on another stool.

"What's a bay window?" Pappy Joe asked.

"Oh, you know, a safe place where the girls have their private talks." Lucas said.

"Oh, well then I'll make sure those three stay right there, forever."

A man busted through the door,
"Pappy Joe! Pappy Joe! Pappy Joe!"

"Don't be alarmed. It's just Cletus." Pappy Joe said.

"Tombstone the Bull gone crazy! He everywhere all over the place at the same time like one of them Houdini bulls."

"Use your words, Cletus."

"I am using my words, garducky. Tombstone the Bull gone bananahooey!"

"I love him." Maya said.

"What did Tombstone the Bull do?" Pappy Joe asked.

"He done tore up the China shop, ironically. It's true what them say." Cletus said.

"You mean he broke out of his pen?"

"Oh he brammoed the pen!"

Cletus looked down at the three girls and turned back to Pappy Joe.

"What's them, a bay winder?" Cletus asked.

"Ah, that's Riley, Maya, and Winter, Cletus." Lucas said

"Oh, well how dee doo." Cletus said.

"Well how" Riley started.

"Dee."

"Do." Lollie finished.

"Lukey. Thissar lukey! Gah! Oh!" Cletus said.

Cletus ran over and hugged Lucas.

"Wait, did they get Tombstone back in his pen, Cletus?" Lucas asked.

"Yessir. We shot him fulla sleepy juice, but I seen the look in them red eyes just afore he went nighty night. And when he wake up, huh-huuurr!" Cletus said.

It went silent for a minute, Maya smiled and got up and walked over towards them.

"What?" She asked.

Cletus bent down towards her and shouted, "Huh-huuurr!"

"Oh." She said.

She turned Cletus around and put him to Lucas level.

She walked towards Lucas and put his face up, "What?"

"Huh-huuurrr!" Cletus said again.

"I know it's early, but my life is complete." Maya said.

"Well, thankee." Cletus said.

"No, thank-ee." Maya said.

"All I know is, I feel sorry for the po' fool gonna ride on Tombstone." Cletus said, "Did I tell you what he done did today?"

"Lucas is gonna ride old Tombstone in the rodeo, Cletus." Pappy Joe said.

"Oh. Oh. Oh no. Lukey Lukey. Bye, lukey."

Cletus cried on his way out.

"Goodbye." Lucas said.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie, Maya, and Riley all were approaching the tent when someone grabbed Lollie's arm.

Thinking it was Lucas she quickly turned around. It wasn't him.

"Oh my-"

Lollie cut herself off and hugged the boy.

His name was Will and long story short. Will and Noah equals old best friends, Lollie and Will equals her not knowing about him liking her.

He smiled, "Hey Lollie."

Lollie hadn't seen him in a long time.

Lucas walked towards them, "Oh, hi. Hey. Uh, yeah. I just saw Tombstone the Bull, and, uh, why do you hate me?" He asked.

"Come on, a bull is just a man cow." Riley said.

"You're a-scared of a man cow.
A-moooo." Maya said.

"You two have never actually seen a bull, have you?" Lucas asked.

"No."

"We're from New York you think we've seen a bull?" Maya asked.

Lucas looked back at the two and saw Lollie talking to Will.

"Hey, do you two know him?" He asked.

The two of them turned and saw what he was looking at.

"No, haven't seen him before." Riley said, "but whoever it is, is making her smile like I don't know what."

Lucas gripped onto his vest.

"Come on Huckleberry. Lollie really likes you. It's probably one of her old friends." Maya reassured.

"They're coming over act natural." Riley said.

Natural for Riley wasn't natural for others.

"Hey. These are my friends Riley and Maya." Lollie grabbed Lucas hand, "and this is my boyfriend Lucas."

Will sent them all a hello and a shake of the hand.

"You know, we'd like to see some cold drinks inside an air conditioned refreshment tent." Riley said.

"Oh, lookee here." Maya said.

Riley grabbed Lollie's hand and walked inside.

When they walked inside Zay was watching something on the tv.

"Hey, Zay. What are you watching?" Lollie asked.

"Not anything you want to see."

"Hey there, rodeo fans.
Now, for your viewing pleasure, some of last year's greatest hits.
These, here, are what we call "love taps." The man on the tv said.

It was a whole bunch of people falling off the bull.

Noah walked inside with Lucas and Will trailing behind.

"I don't want you going anywhere near that bull." Maya said.

"Yeah, that makes two of us." Lucas said.

"I want you to take off that stupid outfit, and I wanna get outta here." Maya said.

"Maya."

"I saw the bull. I don't think the bull knows this is supposed to be fun."

"Okay, Maya, let's not shake Lucas' confidence." Riley said, "You can do this, right? You can just ride a bull for four seconds and win the master of Tombstone award?"

"Lucas is gonna need a Tombstone. There isn't gonna be any more Lucas." Maya said.

Lollie walked towards Maya, "Are you okay?"

"He's going to do great, Maya." Riley reassured.

Maya brushed Riley off and faced Lollie.

"No, I'm not okay and you shouldn't be either."

"Zay, tell him, he's going to do great." Riley said.

"You'll do great." Zay said.

"Truth." Maya said.

"You're gonna die."

"We believe in you. We believe that you can do anything you want to." Riley said.

"Why do you want him to do this?" Maya asked.

"Because this is better than riding Judy the Sheep, and we don't want him to be a disgrace to his community anymore." Riley said.

"Well, I don't actually think that I'm a disgrace to the community." Lucas said.

"You are. He's my friend and I don't want to see him hurt." Maya said.

"None of us do Maya." Lollie said.

"Then why are we allowing him to do this?"

"I've been talking to people. They have long memories around here." Riley said.

A lady walked by Lucas and paused, "Baaaah."

"See? I have to do this."

"Okay, then go out there. Be the hero we know you are." Riley said.

"Thank you, Riley."

Farkle walked inside, "The mutton busters are getting ready to ride, then it's you, Lucas."

"Make us proud, boy." Pappy Joe said.

"Friar."

A man walked towards them.

"McCullough." Pappy Joe said.

"I'm talking to young Friar." McCullough said, "So, you fixin' to ride again, huh?"

"That's right." Lucas said.

"Well don't think about last time.
You don't want that in your head.
Let's watch my grandson, Timmy master Judy the Sheep. Oh, you were about two seconds on Judy the sheep, as I recall. But don't let that be in your head."

Lollie looked at the man, "Your a mean old man."

"How come you ain't out there with your grandson?" Pappy Joe asked.

"Well, then I wouldn't have the pleasure of watching him right in front of your face." McCullough said.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's mutton bustin' time! And here they come, the mutton busters! And now, everybody's favorite, Judy the Sheep, who will be ridden this year by Timmy McCullough." The announcer said.

"That's my grandson!" McCullough said.

"And the gate opens, and Timmy McCullough holding on!" Timmy didn't stay on long, "No, he's not."

"Ha ha! That's his grandson!" Pappy Joe said.

"Pappy Joe!" Riley said.

"Sorry, Riley. Stereotypical cultural reduction's all I have left."

"And now, for the event you've all been waiting for, bull ridin'! And this year, will we finally have a master of Tombstone? The record on Tombstone is three point seven seconds." The announcer said, "Will someone finally beat it? But first, riding buttercup, is, Eddie Callaway!"

They all watched Eddie ride, it was only a second and he flew off.

"Oh! Eddie, that had to hurt.
Looks like Eddie's gonna have himself a little lay down for a moment."

"Are you out of your mind?" Maya asked, "Lollie. How are you okay with any of this?"

The group looked over at the girl and she turned to face them.

She was becoming more and more anxious and Maya wasn't help.

"I'm not sure if I am anymore, but it's not my decision. It's his." Lollie walked over towards Lucas, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

Lucas sighed, "I have people counting on me now."

"Lucas, you're serious, right?" Maya asked.

"You can seriously do this." Riley said.

"Yeah. I learned from the best, actually." He said.

"Who's the best?" Lollie asked.

"Eddie Callaway." He said.

"Coming up, our main event.
Lucas Friar tangles with Tombstone." The announcer said.

"Why you're here, boy." Pappy Joe said.

Pappy Joe grabbed Lucas and the two headed towards the exit.

"Lucas, look at me." Maya said.

They both stopped and turned around.

"If you do this I will never speak to you again." Maya said.

"Maya." Lollie said.

"Why are you for this?" Maya asked.

"I don't know anymore, okay? You and Riley signed him up for this. People are really counting on him. You saying all these things is really making it hard so I don't want him out there, but guess what, he is. It's his choice now."

"I want Lucas to make his grandfather proud." Riley said.

"You're not proud of him if he doesn't do this?" Lollie asked.

"I think you have a fine grasp of the general situation, yeah." Pappy Joe said, "In my opinion, it's about facing life, which runs harder than any bull. You gotta face your fears. You ride them, or they ride you."

Maya faced Lucas, "I'll never speak to you again."

Maya turned and walked towards Noah, "Will you at least come sit with me?"

Not only has Maya put Lollie in a tough spot but she's now done the same with Noah.

"Maya I- I really want to watch him ride."

"So I'm going to be by myself?"

Noah was becoming flustered.

"I mean, I can join you once Lucas is done."

Noah was really trying to reason with Maya.

"It won't matter then. Please just come sit with me."

"Maya. I- I really want to, but I want to watch my friend ride."

"You can't blame him for that Maya." Riley said.

Maya sighed, "You know what. Forget you too."

"Maya." Noah called out.

She had already walked out the tent.

Lollie was the first to go after her.

She grabbed Maya's shoulder and turned her around.

"What was that?" Lollie asked, "You can't just force people to do things, okay?"

"Lollie. I'm not trying to sit alone."

"And you weren't. Offered to sit with you after, you just chose not to take it."

Maya looked over at Lollie.

"Of course I don't want Lucas hurt. If he does get hurt I'll be there. I'm going to watch him. You don't have to, but I know you, you know he's going to be fine."

"Then what about Noah?"

""Forget you."" Lollie repeated, "It's Noah. He doesn't want to hurt you."

Maya sent her a soft smile, "I'll be over there."

Maya pointed towards the giant rock.

"And I'll be there later."

"Will Noah?"

Lollie shrugged her shoulders, "He wants to give you space, at least for now anyways."

Lollie turned towards the tent and felt at tug at her waist.

Maya hugged the girl from behind, "Thanks for talking with me."

"No problem."

Maya headed towards the rock and Lollie walked back inside.

Lollie walked towards Noah, "She'll be fine."

"Are you sure? I mean I'll go sit with her if she's not mad at me."

"She's not. Just give her time."

Lollie then faced Lucas.

"You'll be fine."

"I'll be fine."

Lollie pulled Lucas into a hug.

She didn't want to let him go. What Maya was saying really shook her up, both Lucas and Noah could see that.

"He's got to go." Pappy Joe said.

Lollie still didn't let go.

Lucas chuckled, "I've got to go."

Lollie let go and sent him a smile.

Lucas sent her one back. He bent down and kissed her.

"You'll be fine."

"I'll be fine."

With that Pappy Joe and Lucas walked out.

Riley walked towards her, "He'll be fine."

"I hope so."

The two girl including Farkle and Noah walked out.

"She really likes him doesn't she?" Will asked Zay.

"Yeah, loves him maybe." Zay looked over at Will.

"I need to stop telling my friends business to strangers." Zay said.

He stood up and headed out.

The group stood nearby as Lucas was about to ride the bull.

They could see him get on and instantly the sound of the buzzer when off.

"Here we go, folks. Time for the moment of truth. Whoo! And the gate opens!"

Will took in account of Lollie being nervous and grabbed her hand.

She gripped it pretty hard.

"Wow. You've got a good grip."

Lollie looked at him, "Yeah. Getting nervous helps with that."

Lucas somehow, someway got a glimpse of the two.

With him being distracted it made him fall off the bull.

"Oh!" The announcer said.

They got Tombstone back into his cage and Lollie was the first to run out towards him.

"Lucas? Are you okay?"

Lollie brushed the hair out his face.

He grabbed onto her hand and stood up.

"You did great."

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, that is an official time! He's done it!" The announcer said.

Lucas became excited and lifted Lollie off the ground and hugged her.

After Lucas was done he went back inside with the boys.

Riley and Lollie walked towards Maya.

"So he's all right." Maya asked.

"He's wonderful." Lollie answered.

"How are you?" Riley asked.

"I couldn't watch. I didn't want to see him hurt."

Lollie touched her shoulder, "He's fine. No bones broken, no limping, it's like he was never on."

"Well, I'll send him my congratulations." Maya said.

"As for Noah." Lollie started.

The girls looked over and saw him in the distance.

"Why did you want him to sit with you?" Riley asked.

"You already know why."

"Do you want to explain a little more?" Lollie asked.

Even though she knew the answer, she wanted to see if she would at least tell the truth.

"I know why." Riley said, "I know that you think I love him like a brother. Even though I haven't known him long. I thought I liked him."

"You know?"

"I know that you've thought that for a while." Riley said.

"Riles, whatever you feel, that's up to you." Maya said.

"Maya, it's up to you to tell me whatever you feel. For both of you to tell me how you feel. You shouldn't be afraid to tell me anything. We are sisters, and I've always wanted a sisters."

"Me too." Maya said.

"I glad you can be honest." Lollie said.

"Lollie. We know how you feel when people start-"

"It's okay." She smiled, "I trust you both."

"Sisters should tell each other their secrets, don't you think?" Riley asked.

"You were mad that Noah didn't sit with you because you like him. You like him a lot." Riley said, "And you've never told me that, either. Well, you're right. I love him like a brother. That's how I love him."

Lollie thought it was weird that Riley even thought of Noah that way, for anyone to feel like someone was their brother and they really weren't.

"Noah is a really nice guy and he's one of my best friends but I can't let him know that. He can't know."

"Then we won't tell."

At least Lollie wouldn't tell.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

The group including Will all sat around each other.

"Hey Noah, can I talk to you?" Riley asked.

"Sure."

He stood up, thinking they were going to talk in private.

"You are really important to me too, Noah. We've always been really good at talking to each other. I want to know that you're always there to talk to."

"Yeah, of course I'll be there. Always."

Riley smiled, "You're my brother, Noah, and I'm your sister."

He was confused, "That's what you think we are?"

"That's what I think we are. I love you, Noah, and now I know how."

She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek and pulled away.

Lollie didn't go around and kiss Noah on the cheek, maybe when she was younger but definitely not now.

"How do you feel about him, Maya?" Riley asked.

The group faced Maya, nothing but silence rose.

oKay listen up.

NO MAYA DOES NOT LIKE LUCAS MMMKAY.

This was a difficult episode to write and I still kinda don't like it???

I feel like you can easily be confused with all of this.

But I'll explain (at least try) what happened so far.

In Texas the group finds out Lollie and Noah used to live there.

Noah and Lollie met an old friend named Will. Lucas no like Will already.

Maya doesn't want her FRIEND Lucas to get hurt while riding the bull.

Maya gets mad and ask for Noah to sit with her.

Even though he said he'll sit with her later she gets mad at him.

Lollie and Maya talk and Maya feel eh, better.

Lucas sees somehow, that Will and Lollie were holding hands. This WILL be brought up along with something from chapter eleven in part two.

Maya, Riley and Lollie talk about Maya liking Noah.

Riley tells Noah that they are now siblings which is somehow taking a toll on Lollie. This WILL be brought up in part two and maybe three.

I hope that made sense and stuff.
