Chapter Three : Not Again!

"You can't be serious!" Fearian argued.

"Yes, I am serious, and I'll repeat it, go away or else." The man growled.

"You can't ruin the boy's day!" Fearian yelled again.

"Fearian, don't be mad." Darvin laid a hand on Fearian's shoulder.

"Look, we're really sorry but you have to go somewhere else to hunt? Because this is for your own safety. You know... It's dangerous for now?" The Sea Meanian explained nervously, trying to be as polite as possible.

The Fire Meanian sent the lad a quick threatening glare as the boy slowly shrunk behind the man's legs again.

"Aren't you going to get rid of it?" Gholt cocked his head with quivering lips and shimmering eyes.

"We're investigating boy, and we need to make sure if it was still there hiding. Now don't give me those puppy eyes cause you won't get the soft side of me." The Fire Meanian's eye twitched.

Gholt's shoulders slumped from the man's response, so the lad immediately elbowed his companion's knee. And the man sent a sharper glare at him in return.

"That was very rude of you!" The lad whispered to him.

"Doesn't matter." The man growled back.

"That lad of yours is right, you're ruining the kid's spawn day and his first hunt." Darvin pulled Gholt closer to him.

"How many of you are investigating? Huh?" Fearian folded his arms.

"Two of us," the lad answered first.

"So you're the only ones?" Fearian rose an eyebrow at them.

The two Meanians stood there silently as they exchanged stares at each other; to Fearian, they seemed to be arguing with each other. The Fire Meanian squinted his eyes angrily both at his companion and at Fearian. Without saying anything else, he suddenly stomped the ground.

"That's it! For the last time leave this place now and come back another day when this is all over!" The man yelled.

They jumped in surprise by his loud yelling.

"But I don't see one of you going out there and investiga--" the man's heavy stomp silenced Fearian.

"NO BUTS JUST LEAVE THIS DAMN SIGHT!" The Fire Meanian roared.

The lad bit his lip in empathy as the brothers stared at the man in disbelief; after hearing the Fire Meanian's rude yelling, Bryan began to shriek and cry. His roar was too scary for Bryan's tiny ears.

"Oh no no Purp don't cry." Fearian took his son off his shoulders, held him in his arms, and gently patted his back. They stood there for a moment until they turned to leave.

"Really sorry, and happia sopon diya!" The lad mouthed to Gholt before he sadly left with his brothers.

The brothers walked away, and far from the man's sight, Fearian wasn't walking but stomping while Darvin hadn't taken his arm off Gholt's shoulders. Once they were far enough, Fearian began to burst.

"Wow! They're really investigating the scene! We should come back tomorrow while they just stand there and do nothing!" Fearian ranted.

"And yes they were so respectful and polite!" Fearian continued.

"Daddy?" Bryan sniffed. Fearian looked at him while his heart slightly cracked after seeing his son cry.

"Why that man was so mean?" Bryan sniffled.

"Well, he's just too grumpy with his job," Fearian replied as he bounced him lightly and kissed his forehead.

"That Sea Meanian was actually nice, the Fire Meanian wasn't." Gholt rubbed his forearm as he sighed.

"Now now, don't sob, we'll find somewhere else to hunt. We could go to the other forests," Darvin assured.

"There are no other forests than the Navy Hills, and if there are then we need to travel further north to get there, and that would take days, that's too far." Fearian rolled his eyes.

"How about we go fishing?" Darvin smiled, trying to cheer him up.

"We have more fish than rabbits! Dad is already a fisherman." Gholt kicked the ground, and his tears were slowly building up in his eyes.

Gholt whimpered as Fearian let out a sigh of sympathy and wrapped his arm around him; Bryan did the same with his small arm. The boy's day didn't end happily.

No, Gholt's spawn day isn't ruined nor over yet. An idea popped in Fearian's mind suddenly, making his lips slowly curl into a mischievous grin.

"Don't, even, think, about it." Darvin snarled when he saw the face Fearian made.

"Too late, I already thought about it." Fearian smirked even wider. "Chirp, your day isn't over, and you're going to hunt," he added.

"Fearian, don't you dare tell him," Darvin warned.

"You're going to learn not only hunting but also fighting and defence and stealth."

"We can still hunt, daddy?" Bryan looked up at his father with his shimmery peachy eyes.

"Stop it! This is a bad idea!" Darvin tugged Gholt away from Fearian quickly.

Gholt glanced at Darvin, then at Fearian for a moment, then Darvin gasped when Gholt drew a perky smile and broke free from his arms to stand on Fearian's side.

"Fearian are you serious?! You can't take the boys to that forest! You heard what the man said there is an entity!" Darvin almost yelled.

"This could be my chance to become a warrior like Fearian!" Gholt shook his arms in the air excitedly.

"Gholt, come back here right this instance or else!" Darvin ordered while Fearian and Gholt slowly walked backwards.

"What? We can't hear you over how excited Gholt is!" Fearian joked as they quickly walked away and giggled.

"No no no, come back!" Darvin called as he first strode towards them, but they laughed aloud as they ran faster into the forest.

"Fearian! Fearian come back!" Darvin called again as he summoned his bow with sizzling flames and chased them.

"Grab my hand Chirp!" Fearian cried as Gholt got hold of his hand, and in a blink of an eye, Fearian spun as a fabric of black shades soared around him, making him and the boys vanish into thin air, leaving Darvin to cuss under his breath.

"Not again!" Darvin stomped.

~~~
"Where are we?"
"We're inside, behind that grump's back," Fearian answered as Gholt followed along beside him.
The birds sang as the trees' thin branches danced with the breeze. The sun's rays peeked through the leaves above, brightening the grass below. Their sights were protected with the shades hovering above their heads, and Gholt's grip on his bow was tightening.
"Okay Chirp, you gotta listen to me as I explain what you should do and what you shouldn't do." Fearian went to a halt and knelt behind a bush. Gholt did the same.
They saw the man again, but from behind his back, and to Fearian's expectation, they were arguing.
"You can't keep being mad at everything!" The young lad cried.
"Then what we're supposed to do? Shoo them away like they're pussy cats?" The man argued back.
"You know there's something called politeness, and you could've done it politely. Not screaming at them as if they trespassed on your property!" He childishly stomped his foot.
"They wouldn't listen to that--"
"Yes! they would've listened! And you--"
"Who's teaching here you or me?!" The man's eye twitched violently.
"Both of--"
"Did I bring you here so you could teach me or I teach you?" The man asked again, raising an eyebrow.
The lad grunted loudly, and the blue fur on his skin stood straight, followed by his cheeks brightening into soft pink colour as the man kept staring at him for the answer.
"The both of--"
"Alright that's enough, go back and face the wall." The man pointed ahead.
"I'm not a kid!" He argued.
Fearian was snickering as he watched the whole scene until he noticed Gholt sitting beside him.
"Now." Fearian cleared his throat.
"Since that Fire Meanian was rude to us, we're going to return the rudeness to him. By imagining him being a Dark Meanian," he explained as Gholt's eyes widened.
"Uh... That was... Not rude but more--"
"Chirp, I know calling another Meanian a Dark Meanian is offensive and hateful, but I'm teaching him a lesson, and I'm literally teaching you how to deal in such a situation. Didn't you say you want to become a warrior like me?" Fearian rubbed Gholt's hair playfully.
The boy hesitated for a moment.
"Think about what the boys would say about you, 'Woah! Gholt fought and survived that dangerous entity! He's awesome!'. They won't bother you anymore. Get it?" Fearian's eyes pleaded as Gholt looked at the grass with hesitation. Then finally, Gholt looked back at his eyes with a nod.
"I'm ready."
Fearian smirked in return and rubbed his hair again.
"That's my little bro,"
"Now, I'll give you a scenario, and I'll ask you how you're going to act." Fearian cleared his throat.
"You don't have any food left in your house, and you really need to eat because you're starving, so what do you do? Of course, you go out to hunt in the only forest you have in the kingdom, and after a long search, you finally spot the rabbit. But!" Fearian raised a finger quickly in front of Gholt's face.
"You got two problems. One is that you find a Dark Meanian roaming around with a few of his other partners, and the second problem is that there is a beast roaming around as well looking for the same prey you found, and you know death is gonna be waiting there if you return empty-handed. What would you do?" Fearian waited for the answer.
Gholt blinked twice at Fearian's scene.
"I... Quickly grab the rabbit?" Gholt answered with uncertainty.
"But with stealth and silence," Fearian pointed at the bow his brother held.
"You gotta try to sneak away both from the Dark Meanian and the beast and shoot the rabbit, but don't you ever think about grabbing the prey while it's alive cause that's going to be a huge risk if the Dark Meanian was somewhere around. So remember, never catch the prey while it's alive. It's better if you kill it first," he explained.
"But what if they spotted me? What should I do?" Gholt bit his lower lip.
"Chirp, how did you sneak so quietly and stole my Applein while it was in my hand that day?" Fearian reminded him of this memory.
"I know you can make it out alive because you're the sneakiest brother I know, and you're a good spy too." Fearian winked at him.
Gholt's eyes lit up, and a big smile formed on his lips.
"Let's do this!" Gholt nodded.
