The Revelation

Hadley waited in the abandoned car park, just as the note said. She found it in her locker at the end of the school day. A part of her hoped it would solve the mystery of who was stalking her and everyone she knew. Another part dreaded finding out.

Walking up the empty ramps towards the open sky of the tenth storey, she silently wished she'd brought Brie with her. Though, that wasn't an option. She was safely tucked into a hospital bed, her condition miraculously improving with every hour. Whatever happened lay with her, but Hadley couldn't wait for answers. She needed them before anyone else was hurt.

Every sound echoed from the howl of the wind to Hadley's shallow breaths. It was unnerving. But she was at the meeting point—car parking bay 13.

"I wondered whether you would show up," a deep, husky male voice called out of the gloom.

Tucking her hands into her pockets, Hadley spun on her heel to face where she guessed the voice came from. "Your note said you knew who was following me. I couldn't pass up the chance," she called.

Stepping forward out of the shadows, he ran a hand through his long and floppy brown hair. "I wanted to meet up sooner, but Ollie was getting in the way." He took a cigarette out of his trench-coat pocket, lighting it, and blowing the smoke into the space between them.

"Ollie is my best friend," Hadley stuttered. "Wait! You know our names?"

"Of course, Hadley. I've been following you three for quite some time." He inhaled more nicotine into his lungs. "I'm sorry about Brie Finley. Smart girl. Though, blind to what was in front of her."

Hadley stepped forward. "What are you talking about?" she demanded between gritted teeth.

He considered the young, frightened girl in front of him. They didn't look that much older than each other—him more than likely in his early twenties whilst she was nearing her eighteenth birthday. Both wondered whether she would ever see it.

"Ollie," he spat. "Keep up."

Grabbing her hair into knots within her fists, Hadley screamed in frustration. "What the hell does Ollie have to do with any of this?" she yelled at the stranger.

He chuckled, cooly dropping the dead cigarette and putting it out under his dress shoe. "I've been investigating the Williams' estate for months. It always comes back to little Ollie. Don't you ever find it strange that whenever an attack happens he's always close by?" He waited for a response.

She stood quietly, her legs trembling.

"He is never present for an attack. Why do you think that is?"

Again, he was met with silence. He carried on.

"Sometimes he lets slip details about what happened, but have you ever questioned him about it? No, because you're scared of the answer, even though it is staring right at you."

Taking a shaky breath, Hadley said, "He's the murderer."

The investigator hummed. "And you're next!"
