Dark Link's PoV -
It was a normal day for me. Trapped in the castle of master, Ganon. The sky was turning to night and my master would be retiring to bed soon. Of course he would expect us to keep up our nightly routine. Reluctantly, I dress my self in uncomfortable provocative clothes and lay on the bed to wait for Ganon. I hated this routine. After my master was done with me I always felt so violated, so hurt. Yet, if I opposed him the consequences would be much worse. So I submitted to his iron rule. Ganon walks in on time as always and makes his way over to me. He laughs at my fear and insults me. I'm just a shadow. I wasn't born, I was made in the face of evil. I can never measure up to the hero. I can never be an equal. These words cut through me as Ganon has his way with me. Once he's done I'm thrown off the large bed onto the cold ground. I crawl over to my pile of clothes, my black tunic, and quickly change back into the more comfortable clothes. As silent as possible I leave my master's room.
I'm always awake during the night. It's one of the quirks of being me. Evil and darkness thrive in the night and so do I. I take a quick shower trying to cleanse my self of Ganon's pain. The bruises and cuts still cover me though scarcely visible on my dark grey skin. The real pain is inflicted deep down into the core of my being. I know with all my heart that I am just a pitiful shadow that can never be an equal to the hero who shares my form.
For the rest of the night I go about my chores. I do the dishes, prepare for tomorrows meals, do laundry, clean. Finally, as the day starts to break. Tiredness consumes me and I quietly make my way to my room. Exhausted I collapse onto my small pile of blankets and allow myself to let sleep consume me. Too soon I'm awoken to the sounds of chaos. Reluctantly, I rub sleep from my eyes and exit my room to find some moblins carrying a very angry Hylian dressed in green. Is that the hero I am made after?
"Dark! Contain the hero in one of the cells," Master stands at the end of the hall ordering me.
"Yes, Master Ganon," with that I creep towards the angry hero.
His hands are tied behind his back and his sword and shield must have been taken away. He does his best to kick at the moblis trying to free himself. I almost feel bad for him. I wonder how long he will be stuck here. Surely not as long as I have been. The moblins hand the angry hero to me. "Hero, please come with me," I state before looping my own arms around his tied ones.
He has a gag in his mouth so he can't very well reply but I understand his message when he kicks me in the knees causing us both to fall. I help us both stand before the hero kicks at me again. I only sway this time and we both collapse against the castle wall. "Dark, you useless b****," Master growls, "why do I have to do everything for myself."
With that Ganon takes the hero from me and angrily pushes me into the wall again. My head cracks against the brick and I feel a wave of dizziness. Blood trickles from the back of my head. From down the hall I can see Ganon dragging the hero along behind him. Master holds to rope around his arms and drags the hero across the ground likely pulling his arms out of socket in the process. Despite the hero's obvious pain he looks at me with concern and perhaps a bit of pity. I slowly stand. I need to follow. Something in me cares for the Hylian and I can't let Ganon use him the way he uses me.
At the end of the hall I watch as Ganon shoves the hero in a small cell that lines the wall outside Ganon's room. The cell is only three foot by three foot. Just enough for two people to stand. The Hylian lays collapsed on the dirty ground of the cell. "I trust you can detain him the rest of the way," Ganon states with malice as he saunters past me.
I use my magic to turn myself into a shadow. Once I slip inside the cell I change into my normal form. The hero looks amazed by my small magical display. I smile at this. Someone is impressed by me. "Hello, Hero," I talk to the Hylian as I work on binding him.
I lock chains into place around his arms and legs before undoing the ropes. As gently as possible I hook his chains to a clip above his head so he I sitting on his knees with his hands above his head. "I'm sorry Ganon is doing this to you," I keep my voice to a whisper.
I undo his gag. "You are a hero, you should be free," I state before replacing the cloth gag with a metal one.
"W-wait," he cokes out, "w-who are you?"
"I am Dark Link. Master Ganon created me in your image. I never thought I would meet you," I smile at the hero.
"I'm Link. D-dark I can t-tell that you're better than G-Ganon. We can defeat him t-together," Link try's to convince me.
"Master Ganon is too powerful even for you. I'm sorry, Link," with that I replace the gag and tighten it into place, "I will do what I can to protect you... I'm sorry."
I transform into my shadow form and Link once again looks impressed. I feel sadness and fear and I don't want my mirror image to see me that way so I stay a shadow and slowly creep back to my room. It's already nearly dark and I know I must go dress for Ganon soon but I take a quick break to allow myself to cry into my blankets.
After a few moments, I dry my tears. Here I go. I look in my dresser and find something suitable for Ganon. I begin my dreaded walk down the hall, dressed in these suggestive clothes. Before I enter the room I glance over to see Link staring at me with apparent shock and embarrassment. His eyes are wide and his face is dusted red. "I'm sorry, hero, you don't need to see me like this," I state trying to cover myself before running into Ganon's room.
"It's about time, I thought I was going to have to get your copy in here," Ganon laughs.
I crawl over to Ganon, "No, master Ganon, the hero is too pure for that."
Ganon towers over the top of me. "Oh, is my slut afraid of being replaced?!" With that he flips me over and has his way with me.
Once Ganon has his fill of me he throws me on the ground and I crawl to the door in terrible pain. Tears stream down my eyes, sticky goo coats my legs, and I'm sure my hair is a mess. I'm too weak to use my magic so I only hope that Link is asleep and won't see me in this pitiful state. I carefully open the door and sneak out into the dark hallway. To my misfortune, the hero is awake and sees me. He looks terribly concerned at my appearance. He try's to say something but in my embarrassment I limp down the hallway to my room.
The next morning I wake before Ganon. I grab some toast and a glass of water in the kitchen and fill a bucket with hot soapy water and a sponge. I quietly walk down to Link's cell. "Good morning, Hero." I silently enter Link's cell.
"Please be quiet, if Ganon finds me here I'll be in trouble." I gently take off the hero's gag.
The blond copy quietly coughs. I place the glass of water to his lips and he takes a long drink. "T-thank you... I saw y-you last n-night, Dark. Ganon, does that to you?"
I undo one of Link's arms and allow him to eat his breakfast. I gently undo his clothes leaving him only in his boxers and gently wash him with the soapy water. "Yes, Ganon, expects me to 'perform' for him every night." I tear up.
Now done with his breakfast the hero gently placed his hand under my chin and makes me look up at him. "Dark, you need to get out of here. I can tell that you don't like this."
Tears well in my eyes. Why is the hero so nice to me? He's supposed to hate me. I've never had anyone be this nice to me. "I can't, Ganon, created me, I must do what he says."
"Not if you leave him and escape to be free," Link smiles down at me giving me some confidence.
"He would find me and punish me," I reply and gently begin redressing the hero.
"Dark, you don't need to live in fear. Set me free and I will protect you," Link pleads.
"I care about you, Hero, but I can't do that," I reapply Link's gag and chain up his wrist, "I'm sorry."
Days pass with the same routine. I feed and wash the hero without Ganon's knowledge. I do my best to keep Ganon happy so he won't use Link the same way he uses me.
One night I creep to Ganon's room dressed in my usual provocative attire trying to stay in the shadows to avoid Link's gaze. I glance over at the Hero's cell to find him gone! I rush into Ganon's room and am appalled to find Ganon using Link. The Hero is still gaged and obviously in immense pain and fear. I have to help him!
"Ganon, don't you want me instead?" I crawl over to the bed trying to be as convincing as possible.
"You were late, demon. So I made do with what I have," Gannon chuckles.
Poor Link. I can't leave him here like this. I crawl onto the bed. "Spare him, Ganon. He's supposed to be a pure hero," I try to place myself between them.
"Get lost you bitch," Ganon shoved me roughly off the bed and onto the cold floor.
I stay huddled in the shadows till Ganon is done with the poor hero. "Dark, take care of this slut for me."
Just as he did to me he pushes the chained hero onto the cold floor. I rush over to get hero and gently pick him up. I take us back to his cell and gently wash him and cloth him. "I'm so sorry, Link. That should have been me and not you." A few tears well in my eyes.
Link looks at me with pity. I can't stand to see the poor hero like this. I gingerly unchain him. Before removing the gag I whisper, "I have to get you out of here."
While Ganon is sleeping I help the hero to find his beloved shield and sword. Keeping in the shadows I lead the hero back to my room. I open the window so Link can sneak out. "There you go, Link. Now you can gain power and defeat Ganon once and for all," I state after opening the window.
"No, I'm not leaving here without you, Dark," Link smiles at me.
He's beautiful. So colorful and confident. "I can't do that. I've never been outside this castle," I state as I awkwardly try to get dressed in my usual black tunic. I don't like Link seeing me dressed so provocatively.
"It's better out there, Dark. I'll protect you." Link tries to convince me.
"You would do that? But I'm a demon?"
Link places his hand on my chin and makes me look at him, "No, you're not. You're a hero, maybe even more than I am. You protected me, Dark."
"I failed. I couldn't protect you."
"Sometimes hero's fail but you didn't fail me, Dark. Let's go." Link partially crawls out the window and holds his hand out to me.
I take his hand and we escape the torture of Ganon's castle together. I'm scared. Everything is new but I feel safer with my hero by my side.
