CHAPTER 5- I Would
KATIE'S P.O.V.
Ugh. What happened? Why do I feel like I've been hit by a car or something? I can feel my head throbbing. Then, I hear a conversation just nearby. My body's still asleep, but my mind's conscious of everything hanging around me. I hear the voices of a boy and a much elderly woman.
"So, Doc, is she gonna be alright?", the boy asked. I recognized the voice. It was Louis'. So I guess i was in a hospital. "Yeah, I think she is. We're just observing her for a while because she got hit in the head pretty hard. Let's just hope she wakes up now. If she does, we'll let you go in a couple of days.", the woman, who was the doctor, replied. Well, that explains the throbbing pain in my head. I wasn't awake, by I could sense that Louis was worried. Aww. "But, Doc, what if...", he trailed off. " 'What if' what, Mr. Tomlinson?", the doctor asked. "What if she doesn't wake up now?", he asked shakily. No. Don't give up on me now, Louis. "Now, come on, Mr. Tomlinson. Let's not get negative. Let's hope for the best, okay?", she replied reassuringly. Then, I heard footsteps leave the room. Was I alone?
"Katie...", Louis said. Guess not. By this time I was really trying hard to open my eyes, but I still can't. Like it's glued shut. "... Don't do this to me now. I just met you then you'll leave me alone again.", he continued. I stopped struggling for a while and listened. "You're my second 'woman' friend. I don't wanna lose you.", he said, pain evident in his voice. And, alas! Right after he said that, my eyelids slowly fluttered open. I looked around, but everything was still a bit blurry. All I saw was a blurry image of a person sitting next to me. It looked like his head was down. Then, my vision adjusted and I saw clearly the person by my side.
Louis looked terrible. He had eyebags that were threatening to form, his face looked tired and looked like he stayed up all night, and there were tears threatening to fall. His head was down with his right hand going through his already messy hair. Even though he looked that way, he was still good-looking. What? Anyways, back to the topic. His left hand was placed on the bed. I placed my left hand on his and his head shot straight up to look at me. I managed to show a smile and his face lit up. He smiled brightly and by the looks on his face, you wouldn't even think that he looked terrible earlier. We just stared at each other, no one breaking the gaze. "Hey.", I was the first to start the conversation. "Hey, are you okay?", he asked worriedly. I nodded even though I really wasn't and immediately regretted it. The pain was still there, I forgot. Louis immediately stood up and leaned over to support my head. "What happened? What's wrong?", he asked. "Oh, nothing. My head has this throbbing pain and it won't go away.", I explained. "Do you wanna sit down?", he said. "Sure." He helped me sit down, knowing my condition, which was very sweet of him. When I was in a comfortable position, he sat back down on his chair. "So, I'm guessing you wanna know what happened last night huh?", he said. I said yes and he started telling me what happened.

*flashback...
LOUIS' P.O.V.
"So, Louis, where are your are sisters and-", I cut her off by yelling 'look out' after hearing a horn of a speeding vehicle. Thanks to my quick reflexes, I was able to pull her towards my direction and we landed hard on the pavement. I was relieved to find her safe and you know, not hit, but that short feeling of relief was replaced by a great amount of worry. I noticed that her eyes were closed shut. "Katie... hey, are you alright? Please wake up."I tried waking her up, but she won't. Maybe she's unconscious because of the hard landing earlier. Not knowing what to do and how much damage was done, I decided to head to the hospital. Carrying Katie, I tried hailing a cab, but no luck. All had passengers already inside. I tried hailing any vehicle, but no one bothered to help. I felt hopeless and didn't know what to do. I knew I had to hurry because I was worried that she might have a 'blood clot' in her head or something. I decided to call Mark since he was the only one I knew to contact at that moment.
"Hello?", Mark picked up.
"Sir, good evening. Can you please pick us up from the corner of ...", I stopped to look at the street name. "... Belwood Street and give us a ride to the hospital?", I replied frantically. I could sense he was about to say something but I cut him off. "I promise I'll explain to you on the way sir. It's a matter of life and death!", I said, worry, nervousness and pain evident in my voice. He must've sensed it, because he replied, "I'm on my way. Just hang in there." And with that he hung up. I put my cell back in my pocket and just sat down, still staring at Katie. Tears were forming. I knew it. I didn't want to lose the girl that I was starting to have feelings with. I gently stroked her cheek and pulled back a strand of hair from her face. She looked so beautiful even in this condition. I then started worrying again.
'Will she wake up? What will happen? Will she have amnesia? Will she still LIVE?'
All those thoughts came rushing through my mind and I just can't hold it anymore. Waterworks started, ones I've never started in like, a million years. This was only the second time I cried because of a girl. Don't ask the first time. Anyways, I then heard the screeching of tires and looked up to see a car. Let's hope it s Mark's. The driver went out and saw us sitting there. Yes, finally. Mark was here. Shocked, he didn't ask anymore questions and carried Katie to his car. He laid her on the back seat, where I joined in so I can check on her. As soon as we were in, Mark drove off to the hospital.
*after a couple of minutes...
We reached the hospital and I carried her out the car and towards the E.R. "NURSE! ANYONE! PLEASE HELP ME!!", I practically yelled as I entered. All eyes were on me suddenly and nurses and doctors came rushing with a bed and I laid her on it. They rushed her to a room. I followed her throughout and when they reached the room, I was stopped by one nurse. "Sorry, Mr. Tomlinson, this is the farthest you can go." I nodded and sat down on one of the chairs near the room. I ran my hands through my hair. Why was this happening to her? To me? Mark slowly walked over and sat down next to me. "Hey, what happened there? You told me 'on the way', but I didn't bother asking questions because I know you're going through a lot now.", he said. I nodded and told him the whole story. He nodded slightly while I was telling the story, signalling that he was listening. After I finished, I bowed and cupped my face in my hands. He patted my back and said, "It's gonna be alright. She's a fighter. She's a nice woman. She'll live." I just nodded at his kind gesture, but I was still worried on the inside.
*minutes later...
"Mr. Tomlinson?", a nurse called out. My head shot up and I rushed over to her. "She's gonna be fine. She just hurt her head pretty bad. No complications, but judging from the impact, she may have a chance of having amnesia.", she explained. My face drooped when she said amnesia. No. Please make everything okay. Please. I want her to live. "However, that amnesia' thing may not occur. We'll just have to observe her.", she continued. "May I stay with her for the night? I think she needs a guardian or a friend there with her.", I asked. She nodded and made way for me. Before I entered, I walked over to Mark and talked to him for a bit, thanking him and stuff. He nodded and told me shooting was off for tomorrow since we both need rest. With that he left.
I entered the room to see her peacefully lying in bed. Like she was just sleeping. Well, she is. But it's not really just sleeping, she's unconscious. I got a chair and sat next to her. I gently played with her hand. "Katie, don't leave me here okay? Promise me you'll remember me when you wake up.", I said, even though I know she couldn't hear me. Tears were threatening to fall again and then, boom! Waterworks started. I just stared at her, still having the waterworks. With that, I fell asleep.
*back to the present...( still Louis' P.O.V.)
I told her what happened, but skipped the part where I started the waterworks. What? I don't need to tell her that. "Aww. Thanks Louis. You're so kind. You didn't have to do that, you know.", she said smiling.
"I want to hug you, but I'm too dirty and I know no one would wanna hug someone who hasn't showered yet.", she continued, chuckling. I leaned closer to her and hugged her. Not too tight, since she had tubes on her hands and her body must've still been sore. I then whispered, "I would." With that, she hugged me back and leaned her head on my shoulder. I could feel her smiling and I continued. "I would hug you no matter what your condition is. I would climb mountains just to save you. I would swim a thousand rivers to get you to safety. I would do anything for you , Katie, because I care for you." With that, I looked at her to see her already crying. "No one's ever said that to me before. And even though what you just said may be cheesy to anyone else hearing it...", she said, her and I chuckling at that part. "... I think it's very sweet and I'm so lucky that you're here. Thanks, Louis.", she continued.
My heart warmed at her words and we just hugged again.
A/N: AWW... That cute moment... Thank goodness Katie and Louis are fine... Louis uses 'waterworks' instead of crying... Haha...Anyways, I think this chapter is longer, don't you think? Oh well.
