Best Pokemon Music!!!

Time for the BEST Pokemon Music!

I HAD to make a video on this! Pokemon has made some of the best pieces over the years be it fun, emotional or preparing you for battle. Here's my top 10 favorite pieces of Pokemon music over the years and why and I KNOW we'll all agree on at least one of them.

I made sure to leave a video of all the music below each listing!!!

1. Marnie's Theme: Pokemon Sword & Shield

Marnie is one character in this pair of games that has her own music theme. It wasn't until my 3rd playthrough of Sword/Shield that I realized Marnie's theme in battle & outside of battle are the exact same! Outside of battle, Marnie's theme is nice & sweet, VERY toned down from her battle theme yet they carry the same melody. In battle, Marnie's theme blows you away as it's rock n' roll and energetic! You can tell that Marnie's brother is a Rockstar as it carried on over to her! I love the guitar in her battle theme & how the crowd, be it in a stadium or her entourage of fans, chants within the music. Hands down, Marnie's Battle theme is one of my all time favorite pieces of music in Pokemon as I want to chant along with the crowd, hit my hand upon something to match the beat & head rock.

2. Mirror B's Theme: Pokemon XD Gale Of Darkness

I intentionally wasn't capturing most of the Shadow Pokemon just so I could battle this dancing man!!! Mirror B was placed into this game as so if you accidentally didn't capture or killed off a Pokemon you were supposed to capture, you could fight Mirror B as a second chance to get said Pokemon. Mirror Bs theme is a total hit! I could listen & dance to it for hours. As Mirror B's theme is meant to be disco, or well, Mirror B's entire schtick is a man who loves dancing, music AND Pokemon that can dance. So of course you want to get down & dance with him! Plus, his character model actually dances in beat with the music too!

3. Pyrite Town: Pokemon Colosseum

It's simplistic yet effective. Pyrite Town is a run down town filled to the brim with criminals, thugs, crime & battle thirsty trainers. The theme consists of brass instruments, piano & snapping fingers at the forefront. It comes off as sneaky & Mischievous! I can just imagine a criminal popping out of the shadows casually snapping his fingers wherever he goes. The variety of instruments a piece of music has can have a great impact!

4. Relic Forest: Pokemon Colosseum

Yet another entry from Colosseum as it has some of the best soundtracks in Pokemon history, Relic Forest, the home of Celebi, is so serene & rewards the player if they stick around the area long enough. Once you initially enter the Forest, it's quiet & you hear the strings of a harp being strung. The longer you listen, the more the music grows! Soon more and more instruments join in, most prominently the flute, as it builds and builds to something so powerful and moving before mellowing out and restarting over again. When Relic Forest was featured again in Gale Of Darkness, the piece was altered with more emphasis on woodwinds BUT I love both versions of Relic Forest. Definitely one of the most powerful pieces Pokemon has given us.

5. Treasure Town: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky

Honestly, didn't even remember this piece before it went viral on Tiktok. But the second I heard it, it took me back to when I was little. Pure Nostalgia. Considering how long this game is, and just how much time you spend in Treasure Town, this is such a peaceful piece of music you'll never get tired of. I can't help but smile whenever I listen to it.

6. Jubilife Village: Pokemon Legends Arceus

Much like the Relic Forest entry above, this song rewards you the longer you listen. Jubilife Village is the hub of Legends Arceus, it's calm and joyous, a place you can be without fear of danger hence why the music is calm compared to everywhere else you can explore in the game. The longer you listen to this theme, it grows and grows & you, if you're familiar with the OG Diamond & Pearl games, you can pick up music from various towns in those games in Jubilife Village's theme. Not only is it beautiful, it's nostalgic. I HIGHLY suggest you listen to the whole video I've supplied you with.

7. Littleroot Town: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire

The BEST hometown/starting town theme in all of Pokemon. Admittedly, Ruby & Sapphire gave us a lot of great & memorable music but Littleroot stands out on its own. It's calm, catchy, and you'll find yourself visiting your mother more often than the rest of the mainstream protagonists.

8. N's Castle: Pokemon Black & White

The perfect music for someone marching into battle!!! Theres so many layers and the piece just keeps on giving! Black & White has SO many hits when it comes to music but N's Castle hits me right in the feels. It's battle music just like I mentioned earlier, an opponent you don't want to fight as the player has grown & sympathized with N throughout the journey. There's childish flare in with the music too, much like a music box/jack in the box, which hurts the player more as this Castle was N's home, the place he grew up within. This piece of music was so impactful it was featured as a track for the Pokemon stages in the Super Smash Bros games.

9. Steven/Wallace Battle Theme-Various

Featured in Ruby/Sapphire:

Featured in Pokemon Colosseum:

Although Champion Steven & Wallace's battle theme is really just a more orchestrated version of the wild battle encounter theme across the Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald games, I won't deny its one of the best, if not the best battle themes Pokemon has given us. Not only is it nostalgic for me since I played Emerald as a child, this battle theme was reused and reorchestrated for the colosseum/quick battles in the game Pokemon Colosseum. Each version of this piece is such a masterpiece and I can't help but feel I'm in a battle of great scale!

10. Gym Leader Theme: Pokemon Sword & Shield

On its own, it's okay. In game however, AWESOMENESS!!! The crowd cheering you and the gym leader on, reacting to the match & getting Amped up whenever someone gigantamaxes! It's part of why I love the gym challenge in Sword & Shield so much. Plus, the base on your speakers are a blessing! Turn your volume up high! It feels like you're actually in the game surrounded by a raging crowd. Better yet, if you have surround sound or a powerful speaker. I hope Scarlet & Violet will keep this up & give us even more gym leader hits like this one.

Honorable Mentions:
Cynthia's Theme: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum
I can recognize this champion theme ANYWHERE on top of Cynthia being one of the most recognizable Pokemon characters.

Pallet Town: Literally any Kanto/Red & Blue remake
The town that started it all. This is one of the most recognizable pieces of music in Pokemon history.

Gym Theme: Various
The standard Pokemon Gym theme has been in use since the first Pokemon game up until now and it works. Honestly, yes, I wish they'd change it. I can't remember the last time a gym didn't have this theme. But I won't deny I can recognize it in a heartbeat.

Ghetsis Theme: Pokemon Black & White
It's not a fan favorite and honestly it's forgettable BUT I love how his theme is 100% percussion. It's definitely different from everything else Pokemon has given us.

Mirror B Theme: Pokemon Colosseum
This man has 2 themes! But I only wanted to choose one for this list. Lots of people love this theme in particular, even lots of Pokemon YouTubers use this theme as background music in their videos, specifically MandJTV.

What's one of your favorite pieces of Pokemon music? What's your favorite from the list?
