CHAPTER 57

Writer's POV:-

"Bring him inside," Mrinal asked Leo who nodded and left.

"Who is here, Mrinal?" Krishna asked getting up from her seat. Everyone had curious looks on their faces.

"Vidyut…" Except for the name, Mrinal couldn't say anymore as they heard footsteps approaching them.

Everybody, except Mrinal, shifted their curious gaze towards the entrance where a young and handsome man — around 21-22 years old — dressed in a police uniform, entered the room.

Just as they took a look at his face and recognised him instantly, the other three parents along with Mrinal, smiled pleasantly at him, offering a warm welcome.

"Hello, my favourite people!" Said the man flashing a charming pearly white smile to everyone.

He bent down and touched the feet, in respect, of both sets of parents as everyone got up from their seats.

"Kaisa hai beta (how are you son)?" Mrinal asked, engulfing him in a warm hug.

"Humesha ki tarah sabse acha (best of all as always)!" He said in a jolly voice, making the parents chuckle.

"Aaj bhi wahi dialogue (same dialogue till date)," Mayank chuckled as Vidyut hugged him.

"Sach hai! (That's the truth)," he grinned, showing all his teeth at once.

"Ahh, my ladies… you both are getting younger day by day… I'm afraid for both my uncles now." Vidyut winked at the ladies as he turned towards Krishna and Annapurna and held their hands.

"Badmash… shaitaniya nhi jati teri… (still naughty… your naughtiness won't go)," Krishna slapped his shoulders, playfully.

"Bilkul, waise ka waisa hi hai… (indeed, still the same)," said Annapurna smiling at him.

"Obviously, badmashiyan to Mera janm siddh adhikar hai (obviously, naughtiness is my birth right), how can I let it go?" Vidyut again winked at both the ladies and hugged them together.

He then turned to Mayank and Mrinal and smiled at him.

"I don't wanna accept, but for some reason, you're also looking handsome," he sighed dramatically, making a fake sad face.

Vidyut's entry lightened the atmosphere and their mood. His silly talks lifted their mood and the hall of Nakshatra was once again witnessing a sweet beautiful moment after the panicked state due to the blast. Though they were relaxed to see Aakarsh and Diksha safe, the fine lines of worry started to feign with Vidyut's arrival.

The ladies laughed and the men scowled internally though it was temporary as they knew he was just pulling their legs. Diksha was looking at all of these getting confused like hell. She doesn't know what's going on and who this man was? Moreover, her parents are also well acquainted with this person.

Why only she's the left-out monkey of the group? Diksha scoffed in her mind.

Oh poor girl, only she's the unaware and oblivious person of the ongoing scene always!

Since the day she has stepped inside Nakshatra, it's EVERYONE who knows EVERYTHING, except Diksha.

The lost in wood girl! *Giggles*

Getting irritated with the fact, she turned her head and took a look at Aakarsh who was standing with his hands in his pant's pockets and face completely blank.

"No effects at all! Always having the two kinds of faces blank and hard. What is he? Iron man?" Diksha muttered under her breath.

No… no… that's wrong, girl! He can't be that when he is already the great Hulk! *Giggles*

She scooted a little closer to him and mumbled ever so slowly, trying not to get anybody's attention on her words.

"Ye haar bar scene se, main hi kyun outcast hoti hoon (Why am I the only one to be the outcast of the scene)?" She whined in whispers thinking only Aakarsh and nobody else had heard her — she didn't want to grab everyone's attention and embarrass herself.

But to her bad luck, Aakarsh, whose whole focus was on the people in front, didn't catch her words.

"What?" Aakarsh asked loudly, turning his head to her, and with that everyone suddenly started looking at her.

She felt conscious as everyone was looking at her now. Her face faded and she blinked rapidly, representing a baboon.

(A/N — Baboon! Seriously! Author is literally laughing hysterically like a mad maniac imagining the baboon face *thunderous laughter*)

Way to embarrass yourself, girl! Her mind scolded her and she glared at Aakarsh fuming internally.

'This idiot potato-faced chimpanzee… I swear I'll break your neck today! Bahar milo tum mujhe (Just meet me outside).' cursing Aakarsh inside her mind she flashed a nervous smile to all the people present.

"Kya hua, Krish? Kya puch raha tu Diksha? (What happened, Krish? What are you asking Diksha?)" Krishna asked, looking at their weird expressions.

"She was asking something, Mumma!" Aakarsh said, getting as confused as others.

"Kya hua beta? (What happened, child)?" Mayank asked her daughter.

She shook her head in negative before replying slowly.

"I…uh... He has been standing since then. So, I was asking him to sit as his breathings are still uneven." She, somehow, arranged some words in her escape and made an excuse that was too genuine to be believed fake.

Woah, that was a narrow escape, man! *Clapping slowly*

"Yeah she's right, Krish. You sit back. Better we all must sit now." Mrinal said, asking everyone to sit down.

But Vidyut had some different plans as he smiled mischievously and walked to Aakarsh and Diksha.

"Bhaiyaaaa…! (Brother)" He said, in a singsong tone, knowing exactly how much it irritates Aakarsh. He flashed a broad smile and hugged Aakarsh.

"Vidyut!" Aakarsh took his name in warning when Vidyut wasn't leaving him even after one whole minute.

"Kya yaar bhaiya do saal baad mil raha hoon aap se aur aap ko gussa karne se fursat nahi hai (What's this bro… I'm meeting you after two whole years and here you're getting angry)... Smile big brother smile," Vidyut said, breaking the hug.

"Umm… if you don't mind… haha… can I know what's happening?" Diksha asked, laughing nervously in between.

Poor girl never knows a thing! *Giggles*

"Ahh… I'm really sorry Bache… I forgot to introduce you to him. He is…" Mrinal started speaking but was interrupted by Vidyut immediately.

"Uncle… allow me to introduce myself…" he said dramatically, turning to Diksha and then looked at Aakarsh once, smirking and winking at him receiving Aakarsh's famous glare.

"Hello, beautiful… I'm ACP Vidyut Verma." He introduced himself in a flirty tone making Aakarsh glare at his back.

"Uh… hello, I'm Diksha Shrivastaw!" She replied politely.

"Ufff… what a beautiful name… aur kya bataun aapko kaise meri nazarein tarasi hai aapko dekhne ke liye (and what should I tell you about how my eyes have craved to see you)!" Vidyut flirted with Diksha and she looked perplexed at his admission.

"Vidyut she's …" Aakarsh tried to put some words interrupting his flirting but Vidyut showed him his hand and smirked mischievously.

"Say no more bhaiya…"

He again turned to Diksha and said in his flirty ways.

"So, beautiful, tell me… how are you?"

"Uh… I'm good… but how do you know me?" She asked, skeptically.

"Humne to aapka intezar kab se kiya hai…  (I've been waiting for you since then)?" He again chipped in with dreamy eyes in his flirtatious ways.

"Kab se kiya hai? (Since when)" She asked with a bewildered and frowned face, rather unknowingly, gesturing with a shake of her head.

She's really asking this, stupidly! Without thinking! *Giggles*

Diksha thinned her eyebrows in utter confusion. She looked at him and tried to remember anything she might have seen or heard about this man. But, no, nothing came to her mind.

"Kab se… (since when…) ??" he paused for a second and Diksha shook her head seriously in anticipation.

The parents chuckled as they knew what he was doing. This was a common scene for them knowing how mischievous boy Vidyut was. No offense, though, he was just pulling her leg by his mischievous pranks.

He turned to Aakarsh who was glaring at him but not hard. Shaking his head at Vidyut's leg-pulling he went near him and held his ear, twisting it slightly.

"Ouch bhaiya… it's hurting…" faking the pain he cried. Not seriously as Aakarsh wasn't holding it too tightly.

"Aakarsh… leave him…" she said, concerned over it thinking it might be hurting him.

But little did she know how much of a dramatic and naughty person Vidyut was!

"He's feigning it," Aakarsh said to Diksha, shaking his head at Vidyut's drama and leaving his ear.

"Aur tum (and you)… stop pranking her,  she's confused already." Aakarsh said, smacking his head slightly.

"Oww… don't hit me…" Vidyut whined rubbing the back side of his head.

Diksha was now more confused looking at their equation. She looked over Aakarsh's shoulders to the elders, expressing her query with eyes.

"Bas bahut ho gaya (alright, that's enough)… stop pushing her into more confusion. And Krish, Tu baith pehle… kab se khada hai (you sit first… you're standing since then)." Krishna came to her rescue.

Aakarsh nodded and sat back on the sofa, feeling relaxation in his sore muscles.

"Diksha, Vidyut is our nephew by blood, but for us, he is just our another son. Aur Aakarsh ka eklauta chota bhai hone ke nate, ye tumhara eklauta devar hai... (And being Aakarsh's only younger brother he is your only brother-in-law). And, don't mind him, he's just pulling your leg." Krishna added further, smacking his shoulders at last.

Vidyut wiggled his eyebrows at Aakarsh and then and then smiled at Krishna.

"Devar! (Brother-in-law)"

Diksha felt some strange feelings erupting in her heart listening to Krishna's words. Though she was ready and looking forward to their (Diksha and Aakarsh) marriage, still she never gave a thought to all these additions of new relations to the relationship's list.

"Yes, aur aap meri eklauti Bhabhi! (Yes and you're my one and only sister-in-law)" Vidyut winked at her, making her blush slightly at the newfound relationship of a devar-bhabhi (sister-in-law and brother-in-law).

Feeling shyly awkward she stole a glance at her to-be husband — Aakarsh, who was already looking at her with profound intensity, making all the blood of her body rush to her face instantly. He leaned back when his head started spinning due to standing and talking since then, but didn't tear the eye-lock.

"Oye hoye… already blushing!" Vidyut teased her more, and his words broke a little… very little but intense eye-lock of the couple.

She bit her lips and looked down when she couldn't find the courage to look at anyone right now.

"Uhh… uhh…" suddenly Aakarsh coughed a bit louder which gained their attention and everybody got around him immediately. He was again feeling difficulty in breathing.

"Krish, zyada takleef hone lagi kya? (Krish, Is it troubling more)?" Krishna asked, sitting beside him.

"Not much… just breathing and slightly increased dizziness," Aakarsh said leaning back on the sofa as his dizziness increased due to lack of rest. He was standing for the past 15-20 minutes which now took a toll on his health.

Krishna passed the glass to him and asked to drink it. He raised his head and drank the water. Exactly at that moment, their family doctor arrived.

"Sorry for the delay. Actually I had to change the usual route as, due to the blast, police have restricted the movement by that area," said Dr. Vishal Khatri.

"No issues doctor, though he's looking fine, still we want to get assured," Mrinal said, welcome the doctor.

The doctor suggested he should move to his room and lay down for a proper examination. Everyone moved to Aakarsh's room with Vidyut and Diksha, helping Aakarsh to climb the stairs when he again felt unbalanced while stepping forward.

Writer's POV:-

The doctor had asked him to remove the shirt when they reached his room. Diksha wanted to leave the room out of shyness, but Aakarsh asked her to stay with his eye gestures and intense gaze. Left with no other option she stood at the second corner of the bed.

"Because his body faced a strong blow and he was thrown on the solid ground… his head will spin for a few days along with severe headache and body aches. I've given him the painkiller through injection for now, but make sure to give him all the medicines properly on time. For his uneven breathing, then it will be okay after taking complete rest. Don't worry, nothing serious about it."

The doctor instructed after confirming some wounds and outer complications.

Dr. Khatri examined him thoroughly and gave a green signal about no signs of serious internal damage, but they got tensed seeing some real bad bruises and wounds on Aakarsh's back and chest. He was lying on the bed and listening to everything, keenly.

"Also, he has got some real bad bruises due to falling and maybe shockwave, but that's okay he'll be okay after proper medication and meals. But, yes, do remember, no exertions — physically or mentally — till seven days, at least, and apply this ointment, thrice a day, on the bruises, without skipping or missing, otherwise, it would take a maximum of 20 days to heal those wounds."

Doctor added further, handing Krishna a tube of medicated ointment. He wrote the medicines and the direction to have them, on his notepad and Vidyut took the page from him.

"I'll get it!" He said and kept the page in his pocket.

"That means I can't go to the office?" Aakarsh wondered, getting irritated by the fact that he can't go to the office.

This workaholic idiot! Really a PFC! *Sighing*

"Office! Beta, I hardly doubt you can bathe yourself. Kal tak ruk jao, uth nahi paoge bed se… abhi naya hai isliye dard nahi mehsoos ho raha. Raat bitne to do, kal subah mujhe rote hue call na kiya to kehna. (Just wait till tomorrow, you won't be able to get up from the bed… you're not sensing the pain as it's still fresh. Let the night pass, tell me if you didn't call me crying in the early morning itself)."

Dr. Khatri joked while others laugh at Aakarsh's annoyed expression. Being their family doctor they all are well acquainted hence he has seen Aakarsh from his diaper days.

"Uncle, that's not gonna happen. I'm strong!" Covering his annoyance and embarrassment after receiving everyone's laughter, he said grumpily.

What pissed his already irritated self more was Diksha giggling and Vidyut laughing at his expense together. He fumed under his breath.

"Haan beta… (yes child). Main chalta hoon tum abhi sukoon se so jao (I'll leave, you sleep peacefully now). Your mind, heart, and body need a proper rest." Dr. Khatri chuckled and left with the elders as they accompanied him to the door.

It was just the three of them in the room when Diksha thought something and was leaving when a loud voice stopped her.

"Bhabhi Noooo."
