Cops and criminals are always sworn enemies, that's the way it always has been. Whenever a gang robs a bank or causes mass damage, they're supposed to be arrested. No one ever questioned this, although the force in the coastal Lego City would become too brutal with the criminal gangs, forcing former police chief turned mayor Gleeson to step in. "You're supposed to be putting the criminal gang behind bars, not in the hospital!" She snapped at chief Dunby. "One more misstep and your funding will be cut."
The corrupt cop just rolled his eyes, who was she to judge his tactics? "We're just trying to weed out the Pappalardo gang, we haven't had any luck arresting their leader in years." He complained.
"Well then send someone undercover, it will result in less damage to the city and you won't end up in yet another shootout."
This is where the police detective, Chase McCain comes in, he was on the force for two years and the chief still thought of him as just a newbie who didn't know what he was doing. "McCain!"
The younger cop jumped as Dunby snapped at him, turning to face the chief. "Yes chief?"
"Well because the mayor thinks my tactics against crime cost too much, you've got yourself an undercover job. Vinnie Pappalardo's having a party at his hideout, so you're going to sneak in and find out what he's up to, then we can catch him in the act."
"Alright sir. Is there any information about the event-"
"Does it look like I know, just figure something out!" The chief snapped before walking off. Chase sighed before going to Ellie for a brief. Frank was also going to be there, being assigned to partner with Chase in case he needed it, also so Dunby wouldn't have to deal with him for a while.
"It's a masquerade so your identity will be completely concealed." Ellie explained. "Well, that's good, that way I can sneak in without being spotted."
"Wait, a masquerade? Isn't that the party with people in animal costumes? If it is, I'd like to be a cat or a bee!" Frank stated.
"No, Frank, we're just going to wear suits and masks." Chase responded.
"Oh."
And then the night of the party came, and the two officers arrived in suits. "Alright, now for the tricky part, getting in. Security must be tight."
The ice cream parlor was filled with the entire gang, as well as criminals from other organizations entering. All of them in different Venetian masks which matched their suits or dresses, luckily for the two officers, none of the guests had to show any invitations. "Wow, Vinnie must have a lot of connections." Chase thought as he and Frank went with the crowd entering.
Deep in the ice cream parlor, the mob boss in question was sitting around at his desk. "Hey, aren't you gonna join the rest of the gang?" A voice called from the other end of the room. Vinnie's cousin, Moe De Luca, went over towards him.
"I guess I'm not in the mood for a party." Vinnie sighed, he divorced a couple months ago from his wife, it still hurt having to leave her and their son.
"Hey, piccolo cugino. You can't mope forever, you'll find someone else. Someone better than her." Moe tried to reassure his younger cousin. "That last heist got us enough to invite Chan and Rex over with their gangs to celebrate. You should at least go and greet them."
Vinnie sighed, putting on his own mask. It was black with a gold lining and white stripes around the eyes. "Well, just for a couple minutes." He made his way out to the party, bumping into a certain officer.
"Oh, sorry, I should have seen where I was going." Chase apologized. "Hey, don't worry about it-" Vinnie started before looking at the disguised detective. He wasn't aware of who this person was under their blue and silver mask, but he felt something within him. A fiery feeling that he couldn't mistake. This can't be though, could he be in love again?
"Come on Vinnie, keep it together. You can't just fall for the first person you see." The crime boss thought.
"Uh... Are you alright?" Chase asked.
"Oh, uh, yeah, I just need to greet a few people." Vinnie stated before walking off to go talk to Chan.
Meanwhile Chase was just looking around spying on conversations, but something felt off, something about the way Vinnie looked, it made him feel some sort of way. It wasn't love, or so he thought.
He went through the crowds of people, taking in all the conversations. "Frank, are you-" He started before realizing that Frank wasn't with him. The other undercover cop was enjoying some little hors d'oeuvres since he was offered some and got distracted.
"I might as well grab a bite too." Chase thought, heading over the front counter on a stool. There were little sample bowls available, with entire scoops to anyone hungry enough for them. "I'll just have a vanilla scoop with sprinkles." He asked the man at the counter.
The ice cream looked irresistible to the detective, soft yet still firm enough to keep its shape, the sprinkles adding a nice crunch to the soft, decadent dessert. The moment he took one spoonful, he never wanted to stop. Before Chase knew it, he was stuffing his cheeks until they turned red from how stuffed they were.
Vinnie couldn't help but watch as the undercover cop stuffed himself with ice cream, it was almost hypnotic just watching him eat. "Damn, you're really enjoying that ice cream, huh?" He chuckled, taking a seat on the nearby stool.
"Uh, I didn't realize I was eating so much. I just never had anything like this." Chase admitted, he would have continued on to compliment the ice cream if he didn't suddenly let out a loud burp. "Eek! Excuse me.." He mumbled, his hands covering his blushing cheeks.
"Hey, don't worry about it. That just means you really enjoyed it." Vinnie chuckled. "I don't think I've ever seen you around here before."
"Oh uh.. I'm just from out of town, I was from our sister city looking for bigger fish to fry."
"Ambitious huh? I remember when I started out, I was just twenty and I already stole the largest diamond ring in the city. Of course that was just six years ago."
"You're the boss? You're as old as I am." Chase exclaimed.
"Really? You're 26?" Vinnie stated before pausing. "Ah, my apologies, I didn't even introduce myself, even though you might already know who I am. I'm Vincent Pappalardo, but everyone calls me Vinnie."
He was nervous. He hadn't felt this nervous since he first met his ex-wife. "I ain't gonna fall for this guy. I'm not that desperate." He thought to himself. But having more allies would be good.
"So, what's your name huh? I need a name in case I wanna refer to you." Vinnie added. "Oh, uh, my name is uh... Chase."
"Chase huh? Well, Chasey, I hope things work well between us- As colleagues, of course, in the heist game." The Italian crime lord stated, trying to hide his blush the best he could. He didn't want to fall for someone, at least not now, but he couldn't help himself from experiencing these feelings.
"Uh yeah, it's important to always have someone to rely on in the crime world. Heh, I mean you never know if someone around you is really a cop or something." Chase replied, trying to make a joke. He probably shouldn't have, it would make him look suspicious in front of the crime lord. The man he was supposed to arrest.
"What is wrong with me? I have the guy right at my fingertips, I should have no problem sending him off to the big house." Chase thought, he stirred his spoon around the empty bowl as he remained lost in his thoughts, that same fiery feeling returning the longer he stayed with Vinnie.
"Say uh, you want to go somewhere more private? It's getting kinda loud with all the guests."
Chase was snapped out of his thoughts once the crime lord asked him that. It would be the perfect opportunity to arrest him, but something in the undercover detective told him not to. "Uh, sure. For a little while anyways."
Vinnie took his hand, taking him to the back of the parlor. The ceiling had a large window opening up into the night sky while the walls had paintings of what Chase assumed was the crime lord's family. "Wow, this place is pretty."
"Yeah, it sure is." Vinnie sighed as he went to an alcohol cabinet. "Want a drink?" He asked. "Ah, no thank you, I don't really drink."
"Alright, fair enough." The crime boss stated as he poured. He wasn't much of a drinker, but that was before the divorce. Chase, being unaware of it, decided to ask about the paintings. "Is this your wife?"
"Ex-wife." Vinnie stated coldly, hating that he has to remember her. "I shoulda taken those down but... I just can't." He sighed, taking a sip of his whiskey on the rocks. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said anything-"
"Don't be, you weren't aware... We divorced a few months ago, it... I don't feel like talkin about it." Vinnie stated, tilting the glass in his hand.
An awkward air surrounded them as a silence formed. Chase couldn't help but feel bad for Vinnie, even if he was a mob boss.
"I um.. I didn't really have the steadiest love life either. If it makes you feel better." The undercover cop awkwardly added.
"Oh?"
"I had a girlfriend, well ex girlfriend now. I thought we would have made it as a couple, but she... She was pretty demanding, she even slapped me once." Chase recalled. "We had to call it off."
Vinnie poured himself another glass as he listened, he didn't expect this man he was suddenly attracted to was in a similar situation as him. "I know we weren't married, I just thought-"
"Heh, she got sick of you too, huh?" Vinnie drunkenly admitted. "Y'know, you're a good looking guy."
"I uh-you think so?"
The crime lord was on his third glass of whisky when he was already starting to become drunk. Just looking at this newcomer was amplifying his feelings towards Chase. "Yeah, look at those cheekbones. Your hair is so neat and combed back, not a strand out of place."
Chase's face heated up further as he listened. "Uh, no one ever complimented how I looked before."
"Well, everyone else must be blind to not notice." Vinnie stated, a slight slur in his voice. Chase was about to say something but noticed the crime lord drunkenly stumble toward him.
"Wait what is he planning on doing? Is he trying to-" Chase started to think before getting a hug from the other man. It was loose and weak, due to the fact he was drunk.
"Huh?"
"Y'know, if you're single, and I'm single... Maybe... Maybe we could date or somethin'?" Vinnie asked before pausing. "Wait no, we can't, you don't even like me like that." The crime boss uttered.
"I mean I don't hate you." Chase said, trying to calm the situation. "Besides, you're pretty attractive too."
Vinnie paused for a second, blushing as he heard that. "You... You really think so?" He drunkenly asked as he placed his head on Chase's shoulder. "Yeah."
The pair just sat in each other's arms, taking in the company. Chase never would have expected a simple undercover job would result in him gaining feelings for the man he was supposed to arrest. Unfortunately the moment couldn't last forever, as one of the gang members busted in.
"Some cop just crashed the party! What should we do with him?" Chase squeaked as soon as he heard that sentence, Frank's cover was blown. As much as he wanted to stay, he needed to save his friend and flee.
"Uh, I'll handle him. I have my way with cops." The detective declared. He helped Vinnie back to his seat and immediately rushed out to rescue Frank. However during the rush, he didn't notice something important fall out of his own disguise.
As the two cops fled the scene, Vinnie picked up Chase's badge. "Wh-he was a cop?" He was very conflicted now. He should be furious at the cop, crashing the party and then acting all nice with him, just to lock away his gang in the end. However he still couldn't help but want him, he wanted to keep seeing him, to be close to such a handsome man.
"Gah... Why did he have to be a cop?"
It was such a hard decision. Either he could be happy but disowned from his gang, or he could keep being on top while being miserable. "Goddammit..."
Meanwhile with Chase, he was also having mixed feelings about this. Thinking about it, what was stopping him from going undercover again? Maybe it was a lie but something deep inside of him wanted to see Vinnie again.
"Uh Chase? Are you okay? I'm sorry for blowing my cover I-"
"No it's nothing. Don't worry about it." Chase stated before checking his pockets. His badge was missing. "Crap, I must have dropped my badge somewhere, I hope I didn't drop it at the party." The detective stated. "There goes my chances of seeing him again..." He thought with a sigh.
But he was worried. What if Vinnie found it and sent his men to kill him for tricking him? All he knew was that he was going to sleep with a bat just to protect himself. That night, as he laid restless in his bed, he heard the window of his apartment rattle as if someone was about to open it.
Fearing the worst, the cop grabbed his bat, approaching the window with caution. "He definitely found out, well, I'm ready to fight for my life if I have to." Chase thought, but as soon as he opened the window, a single man fell right onto him. "V-Vinnie?"
He didn't expect the mob boss to come alone, especially after blowing his cover. "You're probably wondering why I'm here, huh?" The suited man got up, handing Chase his badge. "No one else knows you were with that cop."
"Uh... thanks. You didn't tell your gang to come and snatch me? Why?"
While Vinnie was more sober than before, he was still completely flustered around the cop. "Gah, look at yourself! What would Moe think of you being this awkward around a guy?" He mentally growled. "I'm going to be blunt with you, Chasey. When you arrived, I felt a spark. One I hadn't had since my ex came around."
"I.. I.. I mean I.." Taking a deep sigh, Chase felt it was his turn to confess as well. "I felt it too. Like there was a fire burning in me that just grew hotter the closer we got. I never wanted it to end. I know I was just supposed to get intel on the gang, but I just can't bring myself to do this. After hearing what you went through and now..."
The two men just stared awkwardly at each other, occasionally glancing aside whenever they blushed. "Vinnie. I.. I love you. I really do. But if the station finds out, I'll probably get the chair."
"The chair? Why? If it's that stronzo chief of yours I'm gonna-"
"I love that you would kill for me, but I don't think that would be a good idea." Chase stated. "Well... Maybe we could just... keep things between us?" Vinnie suggested. "It's risky, I know, I ain't in the clear if this comes out either, but it's better than spending the rest of my life alone." He continued.
"I'm not sure."
As he said this, the mob boss planted his lips onto his. Chase was a little shocked to say the least, but he slowly melted into the kiss. The two kissed in a heat of passion for a solid three minutes, tongue on tongue, before separating for air. "Sorry bout that Chasey, I should have asked before I frenched ya."
"No, it's alright. I enjoyed it... But I don't know if I can keep this secret." Chase sighed.
Vinnie wasn't going to be discouraged that easily, not when they just now realized their feelings for each other. "If we can't be together here, we'll find a new city, somewhere that will accept us being together. No matter if you're against the law or working for it." He declared.
The cop blushed, he couldn't help but appreciate just how far Vinnie would go just so they could be together as a couple. "Alright, if no one finds out. Um, maybe tomorrow we could go out for a date? I know a little remote place, serves some of the best fried shrimp in the city."
"Mmn, I'm there." The pair kissed once again before Vinnie set off. He hopped onto his personal motorbike and rode back to Fresco. Chase smiled as he touched his lips, he wasn't going to say it out loud, but his night with Vinnie was his first real kiss. He couldn't wait to see him again, he needed to make sure no one else ever found out, not even Frank.
The mob boss was thinking the exact same thing as he laid in his own bed, Chase still very much in his head. There was nothing he wanted more than to spend the rest of his life with the man he loved. "I trust him with my life, if anything were to happen I'd never forgive myself." He thought. He finally dozed away after an hour of just thinking of Chase, dreaming of the day they can finally marry.
The very next day, Chase called in sick from work. He dressed in his usual brown hoodie and jeans before heading out, buying a train ticket to the district Vinnie lived in. "I hope he's waiting for me."
The mob boss decided to dress in something more casual than his usual black suit, a maroon tracksuit with a pair of sunglasses to conceal his identity from the public.
But before he could even leave his hideout, he got intercepted by his cousin. "What is it, Moe?" Vinnie asked. "Why are you dressed like that? Don't tell me you goin' on a date with someone you met yesterday."
"What if I am? What's it to ya? I know you're just trying to protect me, but you're the one who said I shouldn't mope." Vinnie stated.
"Hmm... That's true. Alright but if whoever you're going out with is bein' shady, call me and I'll 'handle' them." Moe called to his cousin as he walked out.
Arriving at the station, he noticed Chase was getting off the train. Conveniently, Chase's train arrived the same time he did. He decided to wave to get the detective's attention. Once Chase noticed him, he immediately ran up to the mob boss.
"Hey, Vin! Wait, is it alright if I call you Vin for short while we're in public?" Chase asked.
"Yeah, it's a cute nickname, Chasey." Vinnie commented, taking a hold of his hand.
"Last night, it was like a dream. I thought I'd never find love again, after what she did." Vinnie murmured as they walked along the city streets together. It was the weekday so they had practically the entire district for themselves. "Look at me, talking to myself about her like she matters anymore."
Chase just chuckled. "Yeah, neither of our exes matter. Did she ever hit you because you didn't get to her soon enough?"
"Nah, nothing physical like that. She did go behind my back when I wasn't spending enough time in the bedroom, at least to her." Vinnie admitted. For the first time, he could finally open up to someone who wasn't his cousin. "She lets me see our son every year on his birthday at least."
"Oh, I'm really sorry. It must hurt not seeing him as often as you like." The cop patted his back. "Uh, if you want, we can talk about something else."
Vinnie let out a sad smile, softly purring as he stayed beside his new boyfriend. "It's alright, I had a lot I needed to get off my chest. It feels so good finally being able to tell someone."
The couple took a seat by the shoreline, watching the waves passing by. "I moved to this city when I was just four. Moe would take me here to watch for dolphins breaching." Vinnie remarked. "One time I saw an albino, leapt right up and splashed us both."
Chase just listened to his new boyfriend, hearing everything he had to say. "What about you?" Vinnie asked. "Huh? Oh, well, I was born and raised in this city. I don't really remember much from back then since it just blended together in my mind."
As soon as the detective finished his sentence, a splashing could be heard. The two men looked out towards the ocean to see two dolphins breaching out of the water.
They watched them breach in silence, but not an awkward silence. This silence was one of calm, and of appreciation of each other's company. As if they didn't need words at the moment.
"Wow." Chase started as he placed a hand on top of his lover's. "Sure is beautiful this morning."
"Not as beautiful as you are." Vinnie commented with a little smirk, causing Chase to blush a bit.
"Heh, you're so cute when you blush, your face lights up like the summer dawn." The mob boss purred, stroking his cheek. "You mentioned something about a place with the best fried shrimp you ever had?"
Chase was about to respond when his belly started growling loudly. He was in such a hurry to see Vinnie again that he forgot to eat breakfast. "I could go for an early lunch, the fresh oysters are also a real treat." The cop blushed, rubbing his empty belly. "Unless you know somewhere good around here."
"Aside from my own hangout? Heh, we'll come back for dessert. You lead the way, Chasey." The pair took a cab downtown, a seafood shack was just at the pier. Chase could already smell the deep fried delicacies just waiting to be eaten, he would have gone there every day if he didn't have to worry about his weight.
As they got out, their only company was a flock of seagulls passing by and a few onlookers off from work. "Oh hi Chase, you having your usual?" The owner of the shack asked.
"Make that an order for two, erm. I'm having a date right now." The cop blushed.
"That's so sweet, to be young and in love. Doesn't your shift end in an hour?"
"Erm... I wasn't feeling too good this morning, so I called in sick. Took Dunby a lot of convincing to let me take some time off."
"Ah, well, hope you have a good time on your date." The owner stated before frying up some shrimps. Once the freshly fried sea bugs were put in a basket and paid for, Chase went to eat them with Vinnie. "Want the first one?" Chase asked, holding the steaming container of shrimp.
"Sure, if you're offering, thanks." Vinnie stated simply before picking one up and munching on it. And the flavor hit him hard.
The crunchy panko breadcrumb coating, the juicy, perfectly cooked shrimp, the seasonings thrown onto it. All in all, it was amazing.
"Whoa." Was all the crime boss could say.
Chase smiled as he took a fried shrimp to nom on, getting some crumbs on his lips as he munched away. "They're good, aren't they? There's just something so comforting about fried seafood, the crispy outer layer of breadcrumbs mixed with the juicy and slightly sweet shrimp is just perfection. Uh, that's how I would describe it anyways." He moaned as he ate, he was about to brush the crumbs off his face when Vinnie cupped his face.
"Heh, let me handle the crumbs." The mob boss purred, licking his lips until all the crumbs were cleaned off. "Heh, they're even sweeter on your soft lips. Mm, your face is softer than it looks, like a marshmallow."
Chase blushed at the compliment, it's true that he had put on a little weight since he joined the force but he didn't think it was that noticeable. "Uh, it's not a bad thing, is it?"
"Not at all, it makes you extra cuddly. You're perfect for me to hold. Heh, being in an ice cream parlor for most of your adult life makes ya pretty pudgy too."
"Well you look good with it." Chase stated. "Aww thanks Chasey." The mob boss blushed softly as he kissed his boyfriend.
After they had their shrimps, Vinnie brought up the idea of going to his place to get some ice cream for a little bit of a treat. The idea was great to Chase so they went there, both holding the other's hand as they did. "So what would you like?"
"Hmm... I guess vanilla with sprinkles, a classic but still good." Chase stated. "Though some of these other flavors seem good too, there's so many options."
"Well, if it makes it easier for you, you could just get the sample tray, it's a half scoop of each flavor so you can try them and see which one's your favorite." Vinnie suggested.
"Oh? Sounds good." The detective started before taking out his wallet before being stopped. "Hey don't worry about that, it's on me." Vinnie stated, paying for the ice cream. "Say after this do you wanna, maybe... Go to my bedroom~?" The mob boss asked, a bit nervous. It was the first date so it was rather bold of him to suggest that they should do the devil's tango.
"Um, as in, have sex?" Chase squeaked. "I um.. I."
"Hey, if you're not up for it, I won't force you-"
"It's not that, it's just. I um, it would be my first time." The cop admitted. He didn't know how Vinnie would react to hearing his new boyfriend was inexperienced. "Could.. Could you show me how it's done? As long as you're gentle."
Vinnie softly patted his shoulder, feeding him a spoonful of ice cream once the sample plate arrived. "I'll make sure your first time will be one you never forget." He promised. "Time to fatten you up." He teased, watching as Chase blushed even further as he was fed.
The cop's belly bloated as he was fed, it made him look even more adorable to the mob boss. This cop had a body anyone would envy, so soft and huggable. However there's one part Vinnie noticed that was quite hard. "Mmn, look at that hard on, he must be really packing there." He thought. He was going to have so much fun with him tonight.
Chase became chubbier by the second, his clothes tightening and even forming tears from all the ice cream. Despite this he didn't want it to stop, it felt so good being this pampered by his new boyfriend. Eventually he became full, the heavy feeling in his stuffed belly turned him on. "Aaah~ Could you carry me? I'm too full to move."
The mob boss scooped him right up, giving his exposed belly a kiss. "Mi amore~"
Once they were in the bedroom, the magic happened. Vinnie undid both his partner's pants as well as his own, followed by the rest of their clothes, after placing Chase on the bed. He then turned to the stuffed detective. "So. should I get on top or should I enter your back door?" He purred.
"Uh... I don't know?"
"Do you want my dick in you or do you want me to ride yours? To put it simply."
"Oh uh, I guess the first one." Chase stated, blushing as he got flipped on his stomach. Vinnie rummaged through his drawers and pulled out a bottle of lube and a condom. Sliding the rubber on his cock and lubing it up, Vinnie got into place.
"You ready, Chasey~?" He purred, grabbing onto his partner's asscheeks as he aligned his cock to Chase's hole. "Ah~ Yes, so ready~ I need you in me~" Chase moaned, anticipating the thrust.
The mob boss didn't waste another second, he slid right in. "Damn, you're so tight~" Vinnie moaned as Chase's hole squeezed at his long member, like it was trying to milk the cum out of him. "Like your ass was perfectly made for me to fuck~"
Chase could hardly respond, he was a moaning, squealing mess as the tip of Vinnie's dick hit his prostate. "Aah! Oh yes! Right there, hit it again!~" He begged, sweat pouring down his face as he moaned in complete pleasure. He moaned even louder the more his sweet spot was hit, he gripped at the bedsheets as he continued to be pleasured.
Vinnie purred, his cock was just aching to release his load, precum dripping. "Damn, I'm so close. You're my best fuck yet~" He moaned, bending forward to give Chase a love bite on the back of his neck. The pair came in unison. "Oh man~ You're my best lay ever~ I don't think I've ever had this much fun before~"
"Wow.. Just... Wow. That was amazing, I never felt anything like it." The cop purred as Vinnie pulled out. "That was so good~"
The pair laid together, Vinnie covering them both up with the blankets. What he didn't know was someone could overhear from the level below. "Just who is my little cousin dating?"
Moe thought about if he should intervene but thought it would be too embarrassing for him to barge in on them after having the act, so he decided to wait till tomorrow.
The next morning, Chase had to get work unfortunately. So, he got dressed and kissed his boyfriend before heading to the station. "Alright, just have to make sure no one knows I slept with him." Chase thought before immediately hearing Frank gasp a little.
"Whoa! Is that what I think it is?" The auburn-haired man asked, noticing the love mark Vinnie left on the detective, causing Chase to be a bit defensive. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, you know. That hickey on the back of your neck- Wait do you have a new girlfriend? If so, she seems pretty intense if she left a love bite." Frank questioned. "Well, more like boyfriend." Chase stated before pausing, realizing what he just said.
"It's okay, I won't tell anyone you're, y'know." Frank stated as he limped his wrist a bit.
"Uh, thanks." The detective blushed, he did raise the collar of his shirt to try and hide it however. "I don't think Dunby would be as accepting."
"Man, he's such a jerk. One time I was out with a guy and he scared him off. Not the best way to come out as bisexual if you ask me." Frank joked. "But in all seriousness, I'd give anything to have a new chief. He's been just focused on taking down the Pappalardo gang lately, even more so than Rex's cronies."
"Uh, really now. What makes him see Vinnie as a bigger threat?" Chase was hesitant to ask, but if Dunby was planning something big he had to let Vinnie know. He could only hope it was just another undercover assignment. "I mean, he wasn't even at the party."
"He wasn't? I mean I was too busy sampling those amazing deviled eggs his men brought out to notice. You could recognize what he looks like under a mask?" Frank asked.
Chase went pale, how was he going to explain this? He knew Frank didn't mind him being gay, but how would he react to hearing Vinnie was his new boyfriend? "Uh... I found some images of him. Yeah, I just looked around and tried to find him. No luck, I guess he's not much of a public guy."
"Oh, that makes sense. He's a mob boss so I guess he likes his privacy. Just like in this one series-" Frank started to ramble a bit until Dunby came into the room. "McCain!"
The detective paused for a moment, flinching as he heard the shout from the chief. "Since you were out sick you need to pick up the slack you left behind!" The chief barked at him. He noticed the detective's added weight, but didn't mention it, he just glared at him menacingly.
He was relieved that he wasn't spotted with Vinnie. "Right, of course, what do I have to do?" He asked, though he was thinking about something else. If the chief wasn't liked, would it matter if he disappeared? I mean his boyfriend could get rid of him. But he stopped himself, killing Dunby wouldn't be right.
"McCain, are you listening?!" The chief shouted at the detective.
"Gah! Sorry, I think my mind was elsewhere.." Chase squeaked, no matter how many times he was yelled at by Dunby, he will never get used to it. "What were you saying?"
"There's a robbery happening downtown, you're gonna go right in there and arrest everyone before they get away!" The chief snapped. "If I catch you screwing up I'm transferring you to Fort Meadows and keeping you there! You're fat enough to keep those pigs from running off anyways."
Chase rolled his eyes, patting his belly as he turned. "At least the pigs wouldn't care if I was in love with a mob boss." He thought. He was about to leave the station when the chief muttered something very important out loud.
"The mayor's gotta agree to my position, Vinnie's committed way too many crimes that life on Albatross is too good for that lowlife, I'd cut it real short."
"You're going to commit a murder?" Chase shuddered.
"It's none of your business, now GO!"
Chase paused before going. "I have to warn him." He thought as he went to a nearby pay phone. He would have used his mobile phone but was concerned about it being taped by the station. The detective was risking his job, but to him love was more important.
Meanwhile, Vinnie sat at his desk, doing mob shit when his phone rang. "Hello?" He answered. "Hey, Vin, it's Chase-"
"Chasey! Did something happen? Did that Puttana do something to you?" Vinnie asked over the phone, a bit concerned for his boyfriend. "Well, not to me but he's planning on killing you."
"Cazzo... Wait, I have an idea. If he wants me dead, then so be it." Vinnie stated. "Wait what? Don't tell me you're going to..." Chase started, pausing at the thought of the mob boss was going to go off on his own terms.
"Relax, Chasey, I'm just going to fake my death."
"Uh, you sure this is a good idea? What will your older cousin think?" Chase squeaked.
"He'll understand, Moe's known me a long time, he knows all my tricks. Well aside from us being together." Vinnie assured him. "Heh, reminds me of a play, two lovers on opposing sides, finally becoming happy in the end."
"Yeah well, they both died at the end of the story from one side having a misunderstanding. At least you're able to tell me about this. Well, I'll wish you luck." Chase mumbled. He was still nervous about the whole ordeal. What if something goes wrong? What if Dunby doesn't fall for it and realizes what's going on? He would just have to have faith that Vinnie knew what he was doing.
On the other side, Moe walked into Vinnie's office as soon as he hung up. "What's this about faking your death?" He demanded. "You've been acting strange these past few days, ever since I saw you with that man at the party."
"Gah! Don't scare me like that, Moe. Why are you always breathing down my neck?"
The older of the two narrowed his eyes. "I promised your mother that I would protect you, and I don't intend on going back on that." He explained. "Is someone planning to kill you?"
"Grr, yes as a matter of fact, that police chief." Vinnie snapped. "And I'm planning to throw him off my trail."
"What? Why don't we just off him?" Moe asked. "Hmm... Maybe, if he doesn't fall for me 'dying' Now to get my sugar pills." Vinnie replied.
Then it happened, Dunby barged into the lair, alone. He wasn't going to wait for permission to kill this guy. "Alright Vinnie, you've done too much damage here, I'm going to cut your life short-" The chief shouted before looking in front of him to see Vinnie's 'corpse' on the floor.
He was able to lower his heart rate to the point of it being able to not be heard. He had to do it before. Pills laid around his body, it looked like a perfect suicide. However, there was one problem. Dunby knew they were sugar pills.
"Do you really think you can trick me? Well, if you're truly dead, you won't feel this!" The older man shouted before kicking Vinnie hard in the ribs. It was hard for Vinnie not to react, but he held strong.
He could feel his bones start to bruise the more he was kicked, but he wasn't going to blow his cover just yet. He struggled to keep it together despite the chief's constant kicking. He could just hope Moe was nearby with his switchblade in case things got ugly.
"Get up, scum! People like you make me sick! I ought to just shoot you right here and now!" Dunby reached for his gun, only to be struck on the back. He looked down to see blood dripping on his uniform, but it wasn't Moe who stabbed him.
A familiar officer scowled as he watched Dunby drop to his knees. Chase growled, pulling his pocket knife out. The mob boss was surprised, his own boyfriend was this willing to kill for his safety? "Vin.. He didn't hurt you, did he?"
Vinnie winced as he got onto his feet, throwing himself into Chase's arms. "Chasey, you came for me?"
The cop was still shook up from his actions, but was able to respond. "I... I.. I didn't know what else to do, I couldn't stop worrying about you. I drove all the way from the station to here, I thought the chief would have wanted you dead sooner than later." He mumbled. A couple tears dropped from his eyes the longer he stayed in Vinnie's arms.
"Hey.. Chasey, it's okay. He's got what he deserved."
Moe stood to the side as he overheard the couple together. "Vinnie put his trust in this cop, and he stayed loyal. He sure landed a good catch." He thought. "Maybe now the cops giving our men near death experiences can finally end."
With the two younger men hugging each other, neither noticed the chief was still alive and was struggling to get his gun. "That... That traitor...! I 'd never suspect someone like him would be a f@g and save the worst criminal I hate, not to mention stabbing his boss." He thought.
Eventually, his finger was around the trigger, and was attempting to aim at the two. However, his plans were cut short due to someone else's bullet. As the gun shot was heard, the couple looked up to see Dunby's dead body.
"Huh? How did he-"
"Oh whoops. My bad." Moe stated with a playful tone. "He was gonna shoot my cousin, and I couldn't let that happen."
"Heh, thanks Moe. Now to make it seem like an accident." Vinnie stated. "Well, it already looks like a suicide so there's not much left to cover up." Chase stated, pausing a bit realizing what he just said.
"Hey, don't think about it morally Chasey, besides, with all he's done it's not like he didn't deserve it." The mob boss stated trying to assure his boyfriend.
It was clear the cop wasn't used to seeing a dead body up close, let alone be the one responsible for a death. "Yeah, I'm surprised he even became the new chief after Gleeson left." Was all Chase could utter out. The scent of blood was about to make him faint, so Vinnie carried him out to the main lobby of the ice cream parlor. "Thanks... I... I just wanted him gone, after everything he's done to me, to Frank, to everyone really. The entire force only listened to him because he was in charge, he was constantly threatening to fire a gay couple off the force."
"Really now, he's worse than I thought." The mob boss pulled him into a kiss, stroking his soft hair. "He's gone now, you won't have to worry about him no more."
Chase smiled softly. "Thanks, we can finally be together." He softly smiled, laying his head on Vinnie's chest, relaxing by his beating heart. "It feels like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders."
Moe just watched as the couple cuddled together. "Dunby killed three of our gang members, justice was finally served." He thought. A few days later, Dunby's body was found and determined as a suicide from the pills on the ground and his pistol, although no one could explain the stab wound in his back.
"Well, the station will need a new chief now." Frank remarked towards the couple. Chase and Vinnie's relationship became public for a while now, the gang was mostly on the down low while the officers had become a lot less violent towards criminals now that Dunby was no longer in charge. "So.. Maybe you could take up the role?"
"M-me? The new police chief?"
"Uh, just a thought. Since you've been always keeping the city safe."
"Well, I mean it's a great offer but I'm not sure." Chase stated. "If you're worried about running the force, you won't be alone. You'll have me, as well as Ellie and everyone else for support!" Frank chirped.
"Yeah, Chasey, you'd probably run that place better than anyone else." Vinnie stated, kissing his boyfriend's cheek. "Umm... Well, alright, but I think we should ask the other officers before I just go in and take over the position."
After asking, it was unanimously decided that Chase would be a good fit for police chief. It was surprising to hear at first, but he accepted his new position.
It took a while to get used to being in charge, but with him at the helm, crime died down. Funding went towards rehabilitation and better conditions on Albatross, rather than towards Dunby's doughnut addiction, leading to some criminals finding honest work and to help the city.
Vinnie of course was still the head of his major organization, but did promise to behave whenever Chase was around. The couple met with each other every day, either to go out for a date or to have a steamy makeout session, they couldn't have been happier.
"You think they'll get married one day?" Frank awed as he watched his friend prepare for another date. Ellie giggled, elbowing him.
"Maybe someday, but that's a story for another time."
