It all started when Tippy arrived at the junkyard with a small, velvet box behind his back. He and Harl had been dating for over a year now, at first it was in secret but after a while, they decided to become open with their relationship. "I feel like this may be going fast, but there isn't anyone I'd rather spend the rest of my days with." The doorman thought as he approached Harl's shop, however, his thoughts were stopped short when a hot rod nearly ran him over. "Ack!! Tread will you watch where you're driving?"

"Jeez I was just test driving on the new course Harl made. Hey what's that you got there? If it's a wrench I could use one, I lost my entire box and had to unscrew a bolt with a banana!"

"No it's not a wrench! It's a surprise for Harl, where is he anyways?"

"Huh? Harl isn't in his workshop-" Tread started stopping to try and think of where the handyman could have gone. Then it hit him. "Oh wait I remember now! I think he was accidentally picked up by Shirley's trash car thing. But-"

"He what?!" Tippy said concerned for his boyfriend's safety. He rushed out of the junkyard looking for the garbage truck, ring in his pocket. But then Harl got up from over the counter of his workshop. "Phew that was close now I can finish setting up."

"I don't get why you had to lie to him though. Like, aren't you too already dating."

"Well, we are but I want to make it extra special since he deserves something special when I ask him to marry me." Harl explained as he set up.

"You're getting married? Like you and him are gonna make it official? That's huge news!" The mechanic exclaimed, rushing over to the workshop. "I could officiate the marrying thing if you couldn't find a priest. You just gotta say I now say you're husband and.. well, husband."

"That's nice, Tread. I've already found a location for our wedding, but you'll have an even bigger role when the big day comes." Harl assured him. "Would you like to be my best man?"

"Oh yeah! I'll be the bestest of all men! I should know because of my winning track record. One sec I gotta get changed." Tread immediately rushed over to his auto shop, only to come back out in his exact same outfit but with a bowtie. "How do I look?"

"I think you look great, but I still need a suit. I feel so underdressed, I gotta look my best before proposing." Harl was about to continue when he noticed Tippy was on his way back, panting as he stopped running.

Not wanting to ruin what he already planned he ducked behind the workshop. Tippy, out of breath from running all over the city, glared at Tread. "Well... I found out that Harl was already removed from Shirley's truck. Though I suppose if he isn't here I'll wait for him."

This wasn't good, if he was going to stay in the junkyard how could Harl prepare the decor? And tread knew that. "Wait but don't you have a job like you gotta open doors for people? I mean there aren't any doors here to open-"

"First of all, my shift ended three minutes ago and second of do you think that I get paid to open every door in the city?"

"Well yeah you're a doorman."

"That's not how that works. But anyway I need to get the-" Tippy stated before feeling in his pocket for the velvet box. His face shifted into a look of slight shock before realizing it was gone. "Damn it, the ring must have fallen out of my pocket!" He thought to himself.

"If you'll excuse me." And out Tippy went, much slower as he was still exhausted from running back and forth from the junkyard to the recycling plant. "Oh where is it?! It has to be here somewhere!" He thought as he checked everywhere he was last at. "If it gets stolen I'll never forgive myself, I had that silver ring custom made and it cost a thousand dollars."

As he continued his search, he didn't realize he was being watched. "Why would the boss want us to follow Tippy around? It's not like he's gonna rat out his criminal empire to the police."

"Non so Hank, he said something about Tippy being all secretive and stuff for the past week. Oh, and he dropped this box." Upon opening it up, the two criminals were in awe of the ring. "Whoa, okay it's just a ring. I thought it would be something like a hidden message he's sending to the cops."

"A ring?! You have my ring?" Tippy gasped, keeping himself upright on a lamppost. "I must have i-"He immediately stopped once he realized who he was talking to.

"Um, here. Boss got paranoid thinking you had dirt on him."

"Of course he did, you won't tell him about this, would you?"

"You have our word." Hank said as Vito handed him the ring. Vito and Hank were sercetly together, so they wouldn't snitch on Tippy even if they were threatened. "Great, thank you." Tippy stated before speed-walking back to the junkyard. Once he was there, he noticed that it looked rather different. As in the was a box with a note that said open. "A door? here how peculiar." Tippy thought out loud before deciding to open it.

When he opened it, he saw Harl, in a suit that he found, cleaned, and fitted, on one knee holding an open box. "H-Harl?"

"Tippy, you make me so happy whenever we're together, and I honestly want to spend the rest of my life with you, and... Oh, Tippy Dorman will you make me the happiest man in this city, in the world, and marry me?!" The handyman stated, smiling up at the doorman. But then, Tippy passed out. "Wha- Oh no! Uh, Tread, are you still here?"

"Yeah what's up- Oh shit what happened to him?"

"I don't know, he just passed out, was he just in shock? Was I moving too fast for him? Does he hate me-" Harl stated before rambling. "Hey Harl, he probably just passed out from running in and out of here."

"Oh, that could be why..."

Harl then noticed the velvet box laying on the ground. "What a beautiful ring. I bet that's why he was looking for me all over, he feels the same!" He thought, helping his unconscious boyfriend into his workshop. "A little tea and something chocolatey would perk him back up."

Tippy groaned, awakening to the smell of freshly baked cookies. "Harl? You want me to be your husband? I was going to propose to you too, um. Do you like the ring I bought?"

"Oh I loved it! Such an intricate design and made of real silver, it must have cost you a fortune to get." Harl exclaimed, sitting beside him on the bed. "I wanted to make sure my proposal was extra special, I borrowed it from the mayor. I got you a ring too."

The doorman couldn't help but smile at how much work his boyfriend put into making sure everything was perfect, the ring was golden with an emerald in the shape of a doorknob. "Oh Harl, this is such a lovely gift. But you didn't need to go through all this trouble for me, I would have accepted even if you gave me a ring pop."

"I know, but I wanted to. I always aim to please, y'know? Oh! We still need a guest list, and have you chosen who will be your best man? I picked Tread for mine."

"Oh my, I forgot about that. I could ask Lt Detain if he could come and be my best man. As for a guest, you can tell who I won't invite."

"Yeah I know. I wouldn't want him to ruin the ceremony." Harl said, knowing exactly who he was talking about. He was friendly with most people in the city, with the exception of the two billionaires in the city, though he could really say he dislikes Tippy's stepfather.

So the guest list was talked about. "So to start, are you okay if we invite daisy?" Harl started. "Of course, if her brother is going to be my best man, then surely it would only be fair to invite her. And if she even dares to bring explosives to our wedding, Lt Detain could stop her. Alright, so we're inviting Vito and Hank-"

"Don't they work for your stepdad?"

"Well, yeah, but they aren't likely to snitch to him that we're getting married. We're, as you would say 'besties'" Tippy assured his fiancee. Once the guest list was finished the two of them went over the other things for the wedding. "So, am I wearing the dress?" Harl asked.

"I mean, you can wear a dress if you'd like. I was thinking that we'd both wear suits but if you really want to I don't mind." Tippy responded.

Harl blushed at the thought of himself in a dress. "Maybe during our honeymoon." He giggled. "I've got a nice black suit here, I could ask the mayor if he has a white one for you to wear. That way we can be like a matching pair."

"Oh, that would be lovely, with a black rose brooch. The podium will be decorated with different colored roses, such a romantic flower, don't you think?"

The pair were planning away, both eager to finally become an official couple. The mayor allowed them to be wed in front of City Hall, he even had his staff decorate the outside with red and white ribbons for the soon-to-be newlyweds. All that needed to be done now was to prepare as the officiant.

News spread across the entire city about the wedding, well almost everywhere. Not a peep about it was heard in either tower, especially not near a certain multi-billionaire. As such Hank, Vito and the rest snuck out whenever their boss was asleep to steal tuxedos and bridesmaid dresses for themselves.

"Oh, I look so pretty in this dress." Hank exclaimed, next he tried on some heels. "I think I'll stick with flats, if I could I'd be their flower girl."

"Amore Mio you look beautiful." Vito said before kissing Hank on the head before he took his secret boyfriend's hand as they made their way to the ceremony.

Once everything was set up, and the officiant was there, they started reading the vows. "Do you, Tippy Dorman, take Harl Hubbs as your lawfully wedded spouse through sickness and through health?"

"I do." Tippy stated, holding Harl's hands.

"And do you, Harl Hubbs take Tippy Dorman to be your lawfully wedded spouse through sickness and through health?"

"I do." Harl smiled. "If there is any reason these two should not be wedded say now or forever hold your peace-"

"I object!"

A loud gasp was heard as they saw who was there. It was a tired-looking Fendrich with his hair a bit of a mess. "No... No, I... It can't be..." Tippy stammered, despair and dread washing over him. "H...How did you even find me?" He started to panic as he saw his stepfather in the aisle slowly making his way to him.

"How did I find you he asks. I was looking everywhere for my employees, and had to go all across the city just to find out what the hell was going on around here!" The multibillionaire grumbled. Immediately his henchmen ducked under their seats, not wanting to be yelled at yet again.

"Mr. Fendrich, gay marriage is perfectly legal and has been ever since Fleck was elected." Harl butted in, he was trying to keep his fiance calm by stroking his hair. "You can't just barge in and claim we can't get married due to your bigotry."

Fendrich growled, only to realize all eyes were on him. "Fine, go through with it. But you're disowned! So don't expect me to lend you any more money." He snapped, storming off.

"Damn, I thought I was already disowned after mom left him." Tippy remarked as Fendrich left. "Ahem... If there is a good reason these two shouldn't be married, speak now or forever hold your peace." The officiant stated followed by silence. "I now pronounce you husband and husband, you may now kiss the groom."

Upon this Harl pulled his now husband close and kissed him. Once his lips were on his, Tippy felt at peace, everything around him blurred as he was only focused on this moment, slowly closing his eyes.

The guests of the wedding cheered as the two kissed. And then the reception was held. It wasn't too grand, but, it was enough for the two newlyweds. "I love you so much, Harl, I hope you know that." Tippy stated as he gently caressed the Handyman's cheek.

"Of course I know that. You wouldn't have married me if you didn't." Harl stated before kissing Tippy again. "But what about our last names? Do you want to use your last name or do you want mine?"

"Well, Harl Dorman does have a better sound to it than Tippy Hubbs, however, maybe we could combine our last names, like adding a hyphen or something similar."

"Harl Dorman-Hubbs has a nice ring." Harl giggled, kissing his cheek. "How about we slice the cake now? I had it decorated to look like our pride flags with whipped cream, the base is just chocolate, hope it's alright."

"That sounds good to me, as long as there's ice cream to go with it."

"Of course! Can't have baked goods without something good and sweet to go with it." The handyman purred as he lead his husband over to the party. "Everything is just perfect. I'm going to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams, where should we go for our honeymoon? I haven't got any idea where to go."

"We'll have time to think about it, for now, let's focus on how happy we've made each other today." A big slice was cut, and Harl happily fed Tippy a forkful. "Is it good?"

"Mm, it's so light and fluffy, the cream adds a nice layer of texture on top. It might be the best cake I ever had." The doorman remarked, taking another slice for himself. "You better have some before I eat it all."

The pair laughed as they indulged away, their wedding presents were surrounding the cake, and most of them were either door decor or more tools for Harl to work with. "How nice, Duke got us a framed photo of our first date. First public date anyways."

"And here's something no doubt from Daisy, our own fireworks."

"Ah, maybe we should save those for uh... Later." Tippy stated before putting the box of homemade fireworks aside, a bit worried about its safety of it. "Hey relax, I'm an expert on explosives!" Daisy stated.

"Uh. yes, I'm aware of that. We'll save them for an upcoming holiday."

Once the reception came to an end, and city hall was cleaned up, the spouses went home. Once they put their gifts away, the two lay down on their shared bed still in their suits. "Today was amazing!" Harl declared, turning to Tippy and hugging him close. "Indeed it was, and now I can spend my life with the man of my dreams." Tippy stated as he kissed his husband on the lips.

The two nuzzled and kissed before the two felt tired. "Mmm, I love you so much Harl~" The doorman stated before realizing that the shorter man was already asleep in his arms. He smiled at this before kissing his forehead and falling asleep by his side.
