Tarik moaned, tennis realised he was buried in sand. No no no no no he thought, trying to dig his way out. He was out of breath. He needed air. Just when he thought he wasn't going to make it, his hands burst free. He closed his eyes as he dragged himself out onto the sand and lay on his back, letting the sun heat his cold skin. A small smile crossed his face. He was alive! Then he realised something.
"LUMEO!" he cried. He jumped up and looked around for the otter. He could feel his spirit animal moving somewhere beneath the sand. He began digging where he hoped the otter was, then he felt something soft brush his fingertips. "Oh, Lumeo!" he said, picking up the otter and placing him around his shoulders. He looked around, taking in the destruction from the battle that must have been a few hours ago now. He set off towards the nearest village, in hope of finding shelter and hopefully water. Lumeo looked tired and Tarik felt like a wreck. "Want a rest, buddy?" he said, offering for Lumeo to enter passive. The otter squeaked in refusal. Tarik was secretly glad. He knew he would need his spirit animal's abilities to help him reach a village, or even a settlement. He walked for what must have been at least a day, because by the time he reached the path in the cliff the sun was so low in the sky he could hardly believe it was there. He shivered. The syvannah got cold at night, but the desert got colder, so he decided to keep moving away from the desert and Cabaro and into the syvannah, where he was more likely to find someone who could give him a place to stay. He kept walking till he could walk no more. He collapsed on the grass and his eyes fluttered closed.

When Tarik awoke he was in a small Niloan hut. He looked around. The walls were bare except for a single tapestry depicting a heron standing in a river. A man not much older then himself was talking to two small children. The older one was nine at the oldest, while the little boy looked around six. A woman the same age as the man was sitting not too far from him.
"Hello" she said.
"Oh, hello" said Tarik, confused. "Where am I?"
"You are in my home," she said. "Welcome to Nivadi, my village. My name is Trika." He nodded. "My sister found you and brought you in. She lives with me and my husband since our parents passed."
"I'm sorry about your loss."
"Don't be, they were as annoying as cockroaches. I'm glad they're gone." Oh thought Tarik. That's strange.
"Well, um-"
"You must be hungry" Trika said, then her eyes lit up. "Lana, how about you show off your excellent cooking skills we have been working on." The older of the two children nodded and rushed off to somewhere outside. Only a few moments after she had gone, the fabric draped over the door frame was pushed aside again and a girl not much older than the four heroes walked in. She had braided hair and was carrying a bow. For a second Tarik thought she was Abeke. "Anushka, come" Trika called. The girl rushed over.
"Is he alright?" She felt Tarik's head with the back of her hand.
"Yes, he is fine, just weakened."
"Oh, I see. well you will be glad to know I made another good clean kill today, he is outside your daughter is preparing him, you have trained her well" Trika smiled.
"I am ever so proud of Lana" Then the little boy and his father came walking over. Tarik felt a little uncomfortable with all these people crowding around him, but he didn't say a word.
"Otter" said the boy, holding Lumeo out to him.
"I hope you don't mind if my children were playing with your spirit animal" Tarik smiled.
"It's fine" he said "Lumeo likes playing, don't you" The others all stopped for a second at the name he called his spirit animal by. He tickled the otter under the chin. Tarik sat up slowly on the bed he had been lying on and his spirit animal lept from the boy's arms to around his neck.
"He is quite mistevose" laughed Anushka.
"Yes indeed" muttered the man.
"Oh I don't believe I introduced you, this is my husband Yari, and my son Ami" Trika pointed at each of the boys in turn. Tarik smiled at both of them.
"I'm Tarik," the man's face palled.
"N- no it can't be," he said "LaRamajas brother? The one who trained the four fallen?"
"How do you know my sister's name?" Asked Tarik.
"Tarik, you are a local hero!"
"I told you it was him!" sed Ami "who else has an otter spirit animal!?"
"Where is this village located?" asked Tarik, concerned.
"Not too far from Cabaros oasis why?"
"How am I a local hero?"
"Ok well local as in the hole of Nilo!"
"What?" Tarik was super confused. Him, a hero? There had to be a mix up.
"Ami" said Trika jentely "go help your sister" The little boy nodded and left obediently, casting one last longing look at Tarik. Tarik looked around at the older three residents of this house.
"Ami heard the stories of you" began Anushka "he loves otters, and since my sister is such an amazing mother, she looked into your story for him, and we found out who you are" Tarik nodded, though he wasn't sure he followed.
"He then told all his friends about you, and his sister caught on, soon everyone knew who you were," explained Yari.
"But I had also heard of Fazil andLaRamaja" Anushka continued "their son is quite notorious for-" Tarik stopped statue still.
"Son?" he repeated "my sister has a son?"
"Yes," Anushka said.
"I- I might need a minute" he stammered, then added quickly "to process this"
"You didn't know?" asked Trika.
"No," admitted Tarik "I had no idea" he thought for a long time. His sister had a son. He was an uncle, but that also met there was someone on erdas who was related in blood to both him and that wretched man Fazil "I need to get back to greenhaven" he said, standing up.
"No" said Anushka, rushing to his side "you are not strong enough. Please just stay here a week, rest, eat, plan, it will do you the world of good"
"Fine," said Tarik "but no longer" he had to admit he was starving.
It wasn't long before Lana returned with the buffalo. Tarik didn't think anushka could carry him, Lumeo, and the buffalo all at once, so she must have been out again since he arrived. which made him wonder; how long had he been asleep? He ate the buffalos leg. He was expecting it to have not been done properly, since it had been prepared by a child, but it was surprisingly good, and it wouldn't have mattered if it was done badly anyway, since Tarik was starving. He mustn't have eaten for at least a week. After the meal Tarik went to rest and he fell into a deep peaceful sleep.
