Chapter 10 ( Baseball at the barn)

Reader's P.O.V.

(Y/n): Honestly, I moved here in the country because it reminded me of my old home. We used to live on the country side just like this with tons of orchids. I just miss it I guess.

Lapis: You can always visit I'm sure.

(Y/n): Not really. You saw all the pictures of me and my mom right? Our dad was away at war at the time when I was born so for a while it was just me and her. When my dad got back from the army he wanted to see me and by then I was 2 years old but he was so disappointed when he found out I was blind. He wanted a normal child. We were poor so he knew we would suffer trying to pay for special school and other things for me. It became too much for him and he left my mother and I. After that she never looked at me again or spoke, she just stairs out the bedroom window, looking at the drive way as if our dad will come back one day. I knew she blamed me so when I was old enough I went to culinary school and then I found myself here.

(Y/n): I know how you feel to get thrown away. Gems get thrown away and looked down upon too if their defective or if they are seen as useless. All your left with is the feeling of being alone.

I watched as Lapis brought up her knees and buried her face in them.

(Y/n): So, what's your story? Care to share.

Lapis: It was so long ago...thousands of years ago. I was caught in the middle of the gem war and they took me prisoner and for thousands of more years I was trapped inside of a mirror and shattered. I was all alone and I had no way to get out but then I met Steven. he was the only one to see me, to talk to me and he freed me. I couldn't thank him enough and because of that I won't let anything happen to him. He healed my gem and I was able to go back to home world like I always wanted but then I found out that everything had changed so much.

(Y/n): Steven sounds....really nice.

Lapis: He is. He was always ready to help me, even when I was taken prisoner by Jasper. I was tired of always being everyone's prisoner, for once I wanted to actually help Steven like he helped me and here on Earth I can finally be free. I won't let anyone trap me ever again.

Lapis said darkly. I could tell she was very upset but I let her vent out her feelings. It wasn't good to keep things like this bottled up and I was here to listen to whatever she had to say. Though a sudden rumbled rippled through the house. Beneath my feet, I knew I was standing in water. Did the house pipes just burst or something? I was a little bit confused and a great wave of wind wafted over before Lapis spoke.

Lapis: I-I'm sorry. I didn't know what came over me.

(Y/n): It's fine but how did you do that?

Lapis: Every gem has a power. As a Lapis, I have the power over water or hydro kinesis. We have a big responsible to terraform other planet to give it life but the diamonds only wish to destroy the life on those planet but that's why we have the crystal gems. We protect the Earth.

(Y/n): Your a crystal gem then?

Lapis: Not really, I just live here on Earth and sometimes assist when I'm needed.

(Y/n): I just can't believe I've been living all this time and knew nothing about any of this. I have to get out more.

Lapis: Well why don't you?

(Y/n): Go outside? Why? Not much I can do by myself.

Lapis: Hmmmm....

Lapis thought to herself.

Lapis: How about we play baseball tomorrow? I've only played it once under weird conditions but I'd like to try it again. It's not a bad Earthly sport.

(Y/n): Yeah, that's actually a good idea. I played baseball for a while when I was in high school. We could play on our own but having a team is much more fun. Do you have anyone in mind?

Lapis: Yes I do.

Time skip....( On the way to the barn)

(Y/n): Jeez, I didn't think my uniform would shrink this much.

I said as I wiggled around in the tight fitting baseball uniform and adjusted my hat. I was carrying a pale of baseball and bats and Lapis was carrying two boxes. One that held pastries and the other that held old baseball gear. I followed her through lush greenery to an unknown place that we would host our baseball game.

Lapis: I like your uniform. I was trying to style my own after yours. We're going to be on the same team after all.

(Y/n): You could have just taken a shirt from the box.

Lapis: It doesn't have my size, besides there's only enough for the rest of the team.

(Y/n): Where are we going anyway? This place doesn't smell familiar.

Lapis: To the barn. The field is big enough to have a game.

(Y/n): I admit that I feel a bit awkward meeting your gem friends. I'm not really a people person.

Lapis: They're fine even if they are a bit weird sometimes. You won't be the only human there. I invited Steven and he invited Connie and Greg.

(Y/n): Greg? You mean Greg Universe? Wow, I haven't seen him in so long. Not even after Rose disappeared. I hear he owns a carwash now.

Lapis: Yeah and he's rich or something.

(Y/n): Oh that's right, he made music. I guess one of his albums finally paid off. I never did like his manager though. Marty was a jerk.

Lapis: Anyway, we're here. Walking takes such a long time. You know I could have just flow us here right?

Lapis said as she stopped abruptly.

(Y/n): What? You can fly? I didn't know that.

I said in disbelief. However, I guess that explains why I kept hearing the sound of beating wings over my house. Nearing the barn Lapis told me about, it was really far as just like my house. It was near a farm and you can smell the soil on the growing vegetables. I also heard the chatter of nearby people. Upon seeing us, one of them called out to Lapis.

Steven: Lapis, your back. We're all so excited for the game.
