Chapter 80: He's back
"Where did you come from?" Hanabusa straightened up, brushing himself down. "You know that humans aren't allowed to enter the Moon Dorm, unless they're part of the disciplinary committee."
"Maybe," Ichiru replied evenly. "But I heard a scream." A scream? I don't remember screaming.
Hanabusa didn't look impressed.
"Well, whatever's going on is between me and Saki here. You have no business interrupting the two of us."
"No drinking blood on the school grounds," was all he said, as he left.
"Hmph," Hanabusa folded his arms stiffly. "Why won't you tell me what Kaname is planning?" That was simple.
"I don't know," I replied truthfully. The answer only seemed to aggravate Hanabusa more.
"You have to know something," he marched up to me, his height dominating mine. "Why did you hide it even when I drank your blood? Did Kaname give you his blood? Is that why you're not giving away anything?"
"I don't know anything," I cried out, going Hanabusa a shove. It was relatively ineffective, with my feet frozen to the floor.
"Just tell me already!" Ice began to grow from his hands, freezing to the floor, and basically beginning to turn the room into an ice rink.
"I don't know." I was scared now, really scared. Hanabusa could kill me any minute now, and seeing as he was so angry, he wouldn't hesitate to.
As if in response, my light ability began to surge upward, cold with fear, but bright with angry.
"I don't know anything," I repeated, feeling angrier. I was still scared but maybe the light building up in me gave confidence.
"Tell me." Ice surged along the floor towards me, threatening to encase me with more ice.
"No!" Light shot out of me, the brilliance having enough force to shatter the ice around me and on the floor. The ice dissolved into ash, before crumbling away, the floor smoking slightly.
"That's just further proof," Hanabusa sounded smug, yet slightly worried at the same time. "You have powers, and you're not even close to being called an aristocrat. Just what are you?"
What are you?
"I don't know." I could feel the light die down as my anger died down, replaced by a strange melancholiness.
Hanabusa seemed to sense the change, and his lips quirked slightly in a smile.
"So, how about you tell me now," he walked closer. "Maybe then I could help you in turn."
"You? Help me?" I struggled not to laugh at the ridiculousness of that. "I don't need your help with anything. I can manage alone. All you want to do is find out what Kaname is planning, and I don't know what he is planning. I don't care about any of that."
I can manage alone. I don't care.
It was all lies. I did care about what Kaname was planning, because he would no doubt try to use me to fulfill his plans. If he used me, I would be hurt, whether physically or mentally.
"I'm tired of this." I felt sick to the core all of a sudden, and not only because of Hanabusa. "I don't know anything, and if that's all, good bye." Turning on my heel, I strode through the door, opening and closing it shut as I walked through.
To come face to face with Ichiru.
"Are you okay?" He grabbed my shoulders. "Did he hurt you in any way?"
"No," I shook my head, before dragging him along the hall, away from Kaname's office. The idea of Hanabusa being less than three metres behind me still prickled my neck.
Ichiru followed me, maybe because I was pulling him along, but he followed me nevertheless.
"Where are we going?" He asked me, while I marched on stiffly.
"I don't know."
That stopped him short, pulling me up with him.
"You're going somewhere you don't know?"
"Maybe." Ichiru began to smile at my statement.
"Saki," arms entwined me around the waist. "You are the most confusing girl I've ever met."
"What makes you think that?" I was struck frozen to the spot suddenly by how close he was to me.
"You've been through a lot," he replied simply. "And yet you haven't gone mad." Gone mad? Does that mean-
"Shizuka told me," he breathed into my ear. "I understand."
"You understand?" I broke out of his hold, turning to face him. "I'm just a Level D, who's on the verge of going mad and falling to the end. How could you understand?"
"It's not that," he began. "I know that it must be hard for you, so -" He turned his head, brushing aside his hair, to reveal his bare neck.
"If you ever need blood, I am willing to offer you mine."
"Oh." The anger I felt died down almost immediately. "No. It's okay, I'm sorry I got angry."
"It's not your fault," he began walking off, gesturing me to follow him. "Living every day, knowing that you could lose your sanity any minute."

Kaname and the rest of the Night Class came back the day after the next.
In that period of time, I had divided them among eating meals with Hanabusa, Yuki, Zero and Kaien, talking with Ichiru, and seeing Firefly. Yagari joined us sometimes, but he always left soon after, on 'business' or whatever else.
"Yuki and Zero went to greet them," Ichiru told me. "Maybe you should go as well."
The two of us sat on a sunny patch of grass outside the Sun Dorm. Ichiru had pieces of grass in his hair, from when I flicked them in there out of boredom.
"I'd rather not," I tossed another piece of grass. "The Night Class and I don't have a very good relationship."
"But they don't about you being a - you know, Level D."
"Shh," I glanced around. "Someone might be listening."
"Zeeerooooooo!" The trill sounded a little way off, obviously Yuki's voice, as it drew closer.
"Maybe we should move," Ichiru suggested. I nodded my agreement, and the two of us began to inch away.
"You have some grass in your hair," I whispered, reaching over to brush it out.
"I wonder why," Ichiru replied, running his hand through his hair.
Then, worst came to worst. My foot got caught on Ichiru's foot, sending me tumbling onto the ground with a squeak. Ichiru in turn, tripped over me, and the two of us ended up in a heap on the grassy ground.
"Zero?" Yuki's head popped into sight, spotting me and Ichiru on the ground. "What are you two doing here?"
"Nothing," I squeaked, trying to draw breath despite that heavy weight called Ichiru on top of me.
"Ok," Yuki looked uncertain as she backed away from the scene slowly. I shot her a weak grin, trying to push Ichiru off me.
"See you later."
The minute she was out of sight, I craned my neck to look at the silver-haired boy lying on top of me.
"Get off," I wailed. I'm pretty sure I could feel my bones crunching under his weight.
"I'm stuck," was the muffled reply.
"What?!" On further investigation, it turned out, that Ichiru had caught his wrist on the roots of a bush next to us. So he couldn't move, unless he wanted to kill his wrist.
"Try getting on all fours," I suggested. My stomach was really going to hate me. "And...crawl to the side."
"Hmm." I could feel Ichiru moving, as he tried to get up. "Ow!"
"What happened?"
"Those roots are kind of sharp," he remarked, panting slightly as he tried to manouvre his way off me.
"Is everything alright?" Oh no.
"Kaname." Deep brown-red eyes stared down at me and Ichiru intently.
