Chapter 22 - Vakasura and Aghasura
Despite the death of Vatsasura and Kabithasura, the attacks on Krishna never stopped.
Kamsa was now terrified and was throwing all that he could find at Vrindavan.
This time he sent an asura called Vakasura. Vakasura was a huge crane with an exceptionally strong beak.

One of the Gopa boys had come to the river with his calves.
He and the boys was shocked to find a huge crane there and ran away from there. Panting, huffing and puffing, the boys told Krishna about what they had seen.
As Krishna came towards the river, the crane was ready. The crane saw the dark boy come towards him and opened his giant wings and swooped down on the boys.
The other Gopa boys screamed and ran away.
Krishna remained where he was as the crane came down and caught Krishna in his beak and tried to fly away.
But the bird was in for a shock. The body was the dark child was suddenly so hot that it almost seemed to the bird that the boy was on fire. The bird's beak was burnt up real bad. The bird let out a shrill scream as it dropped the boy.
Angrily, however, the boy did not let the beak of the bird go. He broke it hard. The bird then crashed to the earth and died.

Aghasura was furious as he was studying Kamsa. He just could not believe that it was possible.
Vakasura was so strong that it was impossible for anyone to destroy him. And Putana...Aghasura could not even remember the last time that Putana had failed in the work given to her.
They were his younger siblings and Aghasura was proud of them. But now.... Aghasura snarled to himself wondering how it was possible that a little boy could be responsible for the death of both of them. It was impossible.
But Aghasura could see the fear in Kamsa's eyes. The fear of failure and death.
Aghasura nodded haughtily at Kamsa as he came towards the village of Vrindavan.
Aghasura realized that he was going to have to avenge the death of the siblings, himself. And he was really going to make all the children of Vrindavan paid for the death of his siblings.

"We are going for a picnic." Krishna was telling his friends.
"Picnic?" The other boys asked him eagerly.
Krishna nodded. "We will get all the things from our home and some food and take our calves along and go for a picnic in another part of the forest today." Krishna said as his eyes were twinkling with mischief.
"Another part of the forest?" Balarama asked slowly.
Krishna nodded eagerly. "We daily go to the same place and it is so boring. We will try something new, today."
And so it was decided.
The boys packed for the picnic and were off with the calves.
Aghasura, who like other powerful asuras could change his form, heard their plans and smiled to himself.
*********
The forests on this side of Vrindavan were beautiful. It was unexplored and a completely novel experience for the children. They saw the slightly dense forests and the deers and the birds and were thrilled.
As they were walking, right in the middle of the forest, unnaturally, there was a huge mountain.
The boys were thrilled on seeing the mountain and wanted to explore it.
One of the Gopa boys looked at the mountain and laughed. "Look at that Krishna." He said pointing at the mountain. "This mountain looks so strange. The mountain looked like a huge python. And the python's mouth looked like a deep cave." The Gopa's face changed into a happy grin.
Krishna froze as he properly studied what the Gopa had said. He turned turned his attention to the mountain. It did look like an eight mile long python.
Almost everyone missed the sudden grimness in Krishna's face.
But then his friends were already talking excitedly and walking inside the cave.
Krishna sighed to himself and followed his friends.
Aghasura was the mountain and he had planned to devour Krishna and all the children of Vrindavan,
But then Aghasura did not succeed.
Krishna killed him too.
(It is said that the boys walked out and found the cave very exciting as the cave suddenly became to close in on them. Aghasura wanted to digest the boys who were right now in his stomach. Krishna grew in size.
Aghasura tried to grow too. But he could not complete with Krishna and using his powers, Krishna grew so much that Aghasura could not breathe and fell dead.)
