Chapter 28
As we made our way to the hospital wing, I couldn't help but think about how Draco had already switched sides. The battle hadn't even begun yet. I did realize that Voldemort was outside of the castle at that moment, but he had always switched during the battle, to protect me.
"Blaise!" Kamrynn yelled as we ran into the wing. "My poor baby!"
Blaise opened his eyes and had a confused look on his face. "Kamrynn?"
She kissed him on the cheek. "I have missed you so much."
"Kamrynn," his face went to confusion to anger. "Kamrynn Grace Diggory, I thought we discussed you not doing anything stupid until everything was settled!"
She tilted her head. "You talked, I listened, but I still did what I wanted to do," she giggled. "I took your consideration to heart, but I couldn't leave my bestie out or not do anything to get you out of this mess your parents put you into."
"Listen," I said, pulling out my wand. "You can yell at her later. You-Know-Who is right outside the castle, so we need to move quickly and get you to the room of requirement before he manages to get his way in here."
"How are we going to get him there?" Kam asked me.
"Like this," I said, and waved my wand towards his hospital bed. "Locomotor."
His bed rose into the air. "Fuck," Blaise said. "You don't need to move me. I got myself into this mess, and I'll get myself out of it."
"Can you walk? Draco said you had to regrow some bones. You also can't fight if you're injured like this," I spat at him.
Kam put her hands on her hips. "Well, can you?" she rounded on Blaise as well.
"Well, in a manner of speaking, no," he said with a painful look on his face.
"Then shut up," Kam said as she pulled out her wand. "I'll cover us just in case."
I nodded. "Let's go."
It was tough getting the bed around the corner when coming out of the wing, but it was doable. I then grimaced at the fact that I had to get this bed up six more flight of stairs since the room of requirement was on the seventh floor. I had not thought this through, and I was about to voice that when a light came through and knocked Blaise's bed onto the floor with a slam. We looked up to see a figure with a dark cloak on with the hood up so we couldn't see their face
"What the fuck!" Kam said as she waved her wand. "Expelliarmus!"
She then jumped up and caught the wand that flew in the air. As she cam back down, she elbowed the person in the face that had moved closer to her. Kam looked like she was surprised at what had just happened, but then she started laughing.
"Oh fuck," she said.
I ran up to Kamrynn with my wand brandished to give her some backup. The deatheater in the cloak had taken a few steps back after being hit. Astoria had came from behind the deatheater as they were distracted. She pulled back the hood and put a wand to their throat.
My breath caught in my throat. "Helena?"
"Your sister?" Kam gasped. "This bitch better prepare for the beat down she is about to get."
"No," I put my arm out and stopped her. "Why are you here? Is this your new station or something?" I asked my sister.
She shook her head. "No, it's not," she replied. "Astoria Greengrass, I didn't know you were a guard dog now. How much of a downgrade is that?"
Astoria pushed the tip of her wand into the throat. "Perhaps you should learn how to control your mouth, Helena Burke."
"So, what are you doing here? Shouldn't someone of your rank be outside with your Dark Lord?" I asked.
Kam started whining. "So, Astoria is allowed to antagonize her, but I'm not?"
"Kam, now is not the time," Astoria shot her a glare.
I shook my head. "Well, are you going to answer?" I asked Helena once more.
"I came in the Room of Requirement with the Order," she claimed.
Astoria and I exchanged looks. There was absolutely no chance that she had switched sides. She was committed to Voldemort and that didn't change. Her commitment only got stronger when Michael, our father, had rejected her.
"I dont believe you," I said, my wand still at the ready.
She shrugged. "Even if you don't believe it, it's absolutely true."
Astoria scoffed. "Bellatix Lestange instilled that loyalty in you; she trained you."
"That doesn't mean that I wanted to actually be on that side," she explained. "I had only joined and gotten that high in the ranks because I needed to get close to Micheal. I tried to continue in the life because of Bellatrix and my oath to the Dark Lord."
"That makes sense. You wanted to be close to our father, you wanted to know why he had abandoned you. So, if this is true, why leave after that? Bellatrix seemed to have a soft spot for you." I said, not able to wrap my head around what was happening.
She sighed. "She did, but no one treated me the same after the whole kidnapping you, using you for my own agenda, and letting you get away situation. Your dad didn't even give me the time of day. The Dark Lord treated me like he treated Pettigrew. My life had gone to complete shit because of that one mistake."
"So, assuming that your telling the truth, how did you get in with the Order?"
"She reached out to me."
I looked down the hall to see that my mother was approaching us from the direction of the Great Hall. I was a little confused, but I smiled none-the-less.
"Mom?"
"Mrs. F!" Kam shrieked.
"Please, Astoria, you may release Jade," mum said to Astoria, who shot a look at me.
I nodded. "Let her go."
"Courtney," my mum pulled me into a tight hug. "I am so glad that you are okay. However, we all need to head to the Great Hall to prepare."
"We need to get Blaise to the Room of Requirement first," Kam said, walking over to his bed.
"Is he okay?" Mum asked.
"No, Mrs. F, he's regrowing bones. He will not be able to fight or walk for that matter," Kam said she helped Blaise sit up and swing his legs over the side of the bed.
"Okay, so, Kamrynn and Astoria, you two get Blaise out of the way," mum then pointed at Helena/Jade and me. "You two will come with me."
"Be careful," Helena/Jade said to Kam and Astoria. "And give me my wand back."
"Yes, come straight down to the Great Hall when you are finished. Keep an eye on each other," mum stated as she turned and made haste.
"Mum, I'm liking this side of you," I said. "You're taking charge, so unlike the mum I grew up with."
"Beverly is a natural born leader," Helena/Jade answered.
"I'm still not sure I should trust you, Helena," I scoffed.
"Courtney, Jade is one of the most loyal members of the order, and that is all thanks to you."
"What?"
"Don't inflate her ego. She doesn't need to know the exact amount of people who thinks she's special," Helena/Jade smirked at me. "Also, I dont go by Helena anymore."
I was about to question Helena/Jade even more, but my train of thought was lost as we entered the Great Hall. Molly Weasley was having a rather loud argument with Ginny, but mum continued to walk past the whole scenario.
"We need to complete this quickly," mum said as we approached what appeared to be Marcus and Narcissa Malfoy, who slightly grimaced as we approached.
"Courtney, I can't believe that you're standing here in front of me," she said.
"Wh- oh, I keep forgetting people thought I was dead," I returned her grimace.
"Get in the middle," Helena/Jade pushed me as the four of them formed a circle around me with their wands out.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Just shut it. It'll be over in a moment," Marcus jeered as they started chanting in unison.
