Jigglypuff Line
Are you sleepy? Well, you better wake up! It's time for Jigglypuff, the notorious Pokémon whose singing is the equivalent of the snooze button on your alarm clock. This Pokémon has been popular in the anime as well as the Super Smash Bros. Brawl games for years now, so this chapter is sure to be exciting!
(Note: this guide will not be considering the fairy type or Igglybuff in the evaluation. Thanks!)
Type Factor:
Jigglypuff, like many other Pokémon, is a pure normal type. As has been discussed previously in this guide, the normal type is an interesting one. This is because it has no offensive advantages, is weak to fighting type moves, but immune to ghost type moves. Despite the limited strengths (or because of them), this Pokémon also has limited weaknesses.
Design Factor:
Adorable. Adorable!
I love Jigglypuff!
Personally, I think that Clefairy has a bit of a more interesting and unique design, and Jigglypuff kind of looks... well, generally round, and that's about it. But that doesn't stop me from loving this Pokémon's design! Sometimes, it's the simple things that are the sweetest!
And personally, I think this evolutionary line succeeds in an area that Clefairy's might lack in: the variation! Jigglypuff might be plain, but once it evolves, it changes more than Clefairy does when evolving into Clefable. It keeps things interesting, in my opinion!
Lore Factor:
Jigglypuff is known for two things: it's alluring eyes, and it's hypnotizing voice! With its captivating eyes, it can draw its opponents in and lull them into a trance, giving it the perfect opportunity to sing a lullaby and put them to sleep.
As for Wigglytuff, it has a... uh, unique approach to battles. Instead of enchanting opponents with a gaze or a song, Wigglytuff inhales, and inhales, and inhales until it's expanded like a balloon! Then it can bounce away, floating over the landscape with ease. Needless to say, the lore here is definitely interesting!
Stats Factor:
Not going to lie, Wigglytuff's base stats are kind of confusing. This Pokémon has a whopping 140 HP base stat, but the rest of its stats are mediocre at best. For reference, the second highest stat is its special attack at 75! The lowest stat is its speed, which isn't terribly surprising. Overall, this Pokémon has one stand-out stat, and the rest are generally unremarkable.
Evolutionary Factor:
I think this evolutionary line is great! The design and the lore change between one evolution to the next, keeping things interesting. Although the stats are a bit odd, that doesn't change the fact that this Pokémon has a lot of good stuff going for it!
Conclusion:
In all, the Jigglypuff line is popular for a reason. The type, design, and lore make it a one-of-a-kind Pokémon! So, if you're looking for a well-rounded Pokémon (with a crazy HP stat, I mean wow) then this Pokémon is the one for you!
To my fellow researchers:
How do you think the Jigglypuff line compares to the Clefairy line?
