**Delilah**

"Look Dee, Sofia wants a kiss", Hazel laughs bringing her pink teddy to my lips and I place a kiss on it.

"And one for my princess", I smile placing a kiss to Hazel's soft, pink cheeks.

She let's out a few coughs and I gently rub her back in small circles. My heart pains to see her getting worse, knowing there's nothing I can do about it, and kills me slowly inside each day.

"I was a girl in a village doing alright, but then I became a princess over night. But I learned how to just do it right.So much to learn and see, hopped in a castle with my new family. Joined a school that's just for royalty. A whole enchanted world just waiting for me. I'm so excited to be, Sofia the first", Hazel sing cheerfully as she plays with her pink teddy, tossing it in the air and it falls on her bed.

She lets out a loud giggle before her eyes go wide and she gasps for air.

"Jane!", I yell taking her small hand in mine, feeling the way her hand tigthen around mine and her eyes begin to tear.

"No no, stay with me princess", tears begin to brim my eyes.

I panic calling Jane -Hazel's nurse- again and she runs over placing a mask over Hazel's face, to ease her coughs and her body slowly relaxing.

Tears swell in my eyes and I wipe them away before Hazel notices. I hate watching her tiny little lungs slowly giving up on her, but I know she's a fighter. She's my little warrior.

"Deep breathes angel, deep breathes", Jane coos and I look away for a moment, trying to stop my tears from falling.

'I need to be brave for Hazel', I tell myself taking deep breaths.

A giant knot hitches in my throat as I turn to Hazel and she looks at me with teary eyes, I gently squeeze her hand in mine and take a seat next to her.

"It's okay Hazel, everything's going to be okay ", I whisper slowly and she blinks through her big blue, glossy eyes.

Her eyes travel to my moon necklace around my neck and I clutch the shiney object tightly in my hand.

"The necklace belonged to my gran", I tell her closing my eyes and I open them, seeing Hazels eyes fixed on mine.

"She said nothing bad will ever happen to me as long as I wear it. And that's why I wear it everyday, she gave it to me when my mother passed away" I blink away the tears falling down my cheeks and I slowly unhook the necklace from around my neck.

"Gran said whenever I missed my mother all I had to do was look up to the sky, to the moon and I felt her presence right beside me", I look to Hazel with a smile on my face and she stares at me.

"And I want you to have it", I place it around Hazel's neck and she smiles weakly. Her smile masked with the oxygen mask on her face.

She coughs again squinting her eyes shut from the pain in her chest and a tear slips my eyes.

If I could take her pain, and feel the pain she's feeling right now, I would.

She's too young to be going through what she is right now. She deserves so much more than to live in a hospital.

Sometimes the world is such a cruel place. Everyone faces the same world, but battle their own demons.

Her eyes grow tired and sleepy, struggling to open them as her eyes flutter.

I place her hair to the side away from her eyes, neatly tucking her blonde locks behind her ear.

The only sound filling the room is the deep intakes of oxygen coming from the oxygen mask covering Hazel's small, young, pure, innocent face.

The snow glows wide on the mountain tonight,
not a footprint to be seen,

I sing softly knowing that Hazel loves frozen, especially the songs. I smile remembering the day she smiled and said Olaf was her favourite.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside,

I sing softly letting the tears escape freely down my cheeks as she closes her eyes, taking in the rest her fragile body desperately needs.

Standing up, I placed a light kiss to Hazel's forehead.

"Rest well, I love you Hazel", I whisper before walking out the door. The moment I step out the door a sharp sound can be heard and I immediately turn around to see a long line going across Hazels heart rate monitor.

I place my hand over my mouth falling on my knees and every thing happens in slow motion: the nurses carry my body out the room and doctor's rush in past me, shutting the the door behind them before I catch a small glimpse of Hazel's fragile body, non-moving.

"I'm sorry Delilah, but I can't allow you to enter", Jane says tears swelling in her eyes.

Tears stream down my cheeks as I fall to the ground sobbing, my knees going numb as my body shakes uncontrollably.

"Delilah!", Blake shouts rushing towards me and crashes into my body pulling me into his chest and I let out sobs, pulling his body as close as possible towards mine.

"Everything's going to be fine", his voice cracks in my hair as he holds me tightly.

"No, no, no, no", I repeat crying hysterically and Blake forces me to look into his also watery eyes.

"We did everything we could Delilah. We loved her and that's all she needed. Love", Blake places kisses on my forhead.

"Let me though, I need to see her now!", A very familiar voice shouts through the hospital coming in our direction.

"Bethany?", I ask and she takes in my crying state before breaking into tears as well.

"Blake what happened to her?!", Bethany yells and Blake's body go's tense under mine as he wraps his arms tighter around me. Almost as if his afraid I'll run away...But why would I run away?

Bethany hits on Hazels door, but the doctors don't open it as they focus on whatever they're doing inside.

Jane comes out the room with tears streaming down her eyes and I let out another sob in Blake's arms, tears falling down staining his cheeks as well.

"They're g-going to do an operation on her, but there's n-no telling what's going to happen", she sobs informing us the news and Bethany lets out a loud sob.

"Let me in!", Bethany shouts. "She's m-my baby", she cries and my head snaps to her direction.

"You're Hazel's mother?", I choke on my words, my eyes wide open as she nods turning her head to Blake through watery eyes.

"She's our child", she answers through a sob and I turn my head to Blake who stands staring at me bewildered as if the world has swallowed me whole...and I wish it did.

"Delilah", his voice cracks walking towards me and my heart falls to the ground as well as my body, dizziness surrounding me and my vision go's black.
