Tale 9 Exes and Ohs Part 4 Unintended Consequences

Jolene and I opened up early the next morning so we could discuss our efforts before Destiny came on shift. I recounted my conversation with Dex including Freddy's interruption and told her about my concern that I may have done more to renew Freddy's interest than to spark any interest with Dex.

"That is pretty much how my evening went too," Jolene sighed and the she explained, "I was telling Sally our idea of her taking on a tenant. She was reluctant. I thought I'd sweeten the deal by pointing out that the prospective tenant was the really good-looking guy sitting at the other end of the bar. She perked up a little bit just as Destiny came up behind us saying, 'He is good looking, isn't he? I had forgotten. You stop noticing when you live with someone for so long.' Sally agreed and the two began comparing notes on how much they had been disregarding the positive aspects of their ex-spouses and taking them for granted. Then they both described the private readings Miri had given them earlier. Miri had told both of them that their true soul mates were in the bar that evening. At that, they each looked at their own former spouse and sighed, 'I guess she was right.' They continued mooning over their exes until Freddy came over. Joe, I think our plan was a disaster."

"Maybe not. After all, we did make everyone seem more attractive by showing interest in them. And, Miri did convince Destiny and Sally they would find their soul mates. We just got the pairings wrong. We may have failed at match making, but as cupids we did manage to light the fires. We were just stupid cupids."
