Spider Web

[co-written by GorgingGeorge]

[CW: depiction of Sexual assault]

It was a rainy day in Italy, and Pesci and Prosciutto were on a job.  "I hate when it rains, y'know that? It makes it hard to use Grateful Dead..." Prosciutto stated.  "Well, um, I could hook the guy with Beach Boy and you can shoot them with your gun." Pesci said, trying to make the situation better.

"What about the body?"

"Uh..."

"Goddammit you fucking mammoni!  How do you fail to see that?" Prosciutto sneered hitting his brother on the back of the head.  "Eep! Sorry Big Bro..."

As the older of the brothers berated the younger, they failed to notice a web form around the corpse they just made.  After a bit both of them were wrapped up in silk like webbing. "What the?"

"Don't bother trying to escape, Caught Like a Fly won't let you out of her webs." A voice called.  It sounded like a girl, no older than 16. "Who the hell do you think you are?! Who even are you?!" Prosciutto shouted, causing a girl to emerge from the shadows.  She had brunette hair that she wore in two buns on top of her head.  She also wore purple and black striped arm warmers, though the most striking thing about her appearance was the spider motifs on her skirt and shirt

"My name? Not important, but you can call me Ragno, spider in Italian." She said simply.

"This girl is a stand user, but I don't remember seeing her when Polpo recruited new members." Prosciutto thought, despite what she said, the older brother struggled and squirmed against the webbing as much as he could. If it wasn't for all the rain he could easily use Grateful Dead to force the girl to age up until she was nothing more than a pile of bones.

"Pesci! Can you reach Beach Boy?"

"Uh, I'm sorry big bro, uh I think I dropped it when I was trying to squirm out of here." Pesci mumbled, expecting his brother to slap him.

"Grah! There's gotta be a way out! We can't just wait for the rest of La Squadra to notice we've been gone for too long!" The older sibling snapped.

Ragno perked up when she heard the name of Passione's assassin division. "You're both part of the mafia?" She asked.

"What does it matter to you?"

"Well... I suppose I could let you go, if you allow me to join your little team."

"You? Join us? You're just a kid! Risotto would never let someone as young as you become an assassin."

"Oh, well I could let my stand digest you."

"Wait, what do you mean by digest?" Prosciutto asked before getting his answer. His skin was starting to dissolve, slowly but surely. "Usually it takes 30 minutes for flesh to start digesting, but since you've been flailing so much, you've made the process go faster." Ragno stated, watching the two men lay helplessly on the ground.

"Merda, we can't just fall to the commands of this girl." Prosciutto thought, looking at Pesci. "Big bro I think we should, either that or we'll be eaten. I don't want to die, at least not like this."

"... Mammoni... Fine, we'll see. I mean it's not like we can allow you to join, that's Risotto's thing. But, if you let us go, we'll take you to him. But if he doesn't let you join, don't use your stand on him." The blond stated, looking at the teen.

"... Alright." She stated, releasing the men from her stand's webs. It was obvious that they were damaged, like they were dropped in acid. "Don't worry, you're skin should become normal in a week."

However, she left the corpse's body still wrapped up. "You're not going to remove your webs from that corpse?"

"No, it'll break down as we leave until there's just bones."

Pesci's blood ran cold as he and Prosciutto escorted Ragno out of the alleyway and towards La Squadra's usual meeting place. Regular spiders were enough to make him squick, but seeing a giant spider of a stand was too much for him to handle with his weak stomach. "Uh, wow, the cocoon just completely digests the host?" He mumbled.

"That's how a spider does it. They don't have teeth so they can't take bites out of flies, and they're much too big to swallow whole. So, they wrap up their prey in cocoons on their webs and inject them with a venom that dissolves them from-"

But before Ragno could continue, Pesci begun throwing up on the ground. "Ugh, you could have at least done it in a trash can." Prosciutto grumbled, backing away from his puking brother.

"Sorry big bro, but you always knew I had a weak stomach."

Prosciutto just rolled his eyes until Pesci was finished. "Well, we're here, and Risotto should be inside with the rest of the team. Your stand may be powerful, but you're still young and possibly inexperienced."

"Bold of you to assume." Was all she said before entering. The first to look at her was Formaggio. "Hey what's this girl doing here? You know that this isn't a place for someone like you. Should I deal with her?"

"No, we brought her here..." Prosciutto stated. "Oh my, what happened to you?" Melone commented. "Well, this girl is a stand user, and she digested us with her stand... The only reason I couldn't overpower her was because it was raining."

"Oh? So her stand commits vore?" A voice called from the mirror. After a second, a man popped out. That man was Illuso. "So, why'd you bring the little shit here?"

"Well, she wants to join." Pesci said. "Really? You know this isn't easy work, right? I mean can a girl even kill?" Formaggio stated. Then Risotto stood up. "Formaggio... Anyway, what's this girl's name?"

"Ragno." She spoke. "I see, well, I need to interview you in a separate room..." He stated before leading her to his bedroom. "My apologies we don't have a private meeting room, so this will have to do for now.  So why do you want to join this? It's a dangerous field of work."

"Well, I figured it would be a good way to make some easy money. I don't entirely remember how I ended up with Caught Like a Fly, but I was just with my parents at a museum some place when I pricked my hand on some arrow donated by a weird old hag." She explained.

"Your parents? Do they know that you go around and use your stand to kill?"

"Well, uh, no? I mean, I never used it around them, but it's not like they would be able to see a giant spider just walking around anyways..." Ragno went quiet, she didn't want to say too much to her soon to be boss. She didn't think it would be important.

"So, I see. You're an orphan?"

"Yes exactly! My parents died of.... Umm... A drug overdose...?"

Risotto could tell she was lying but decided not to interrogate her further. "Next job we have, you'll be accompanied by Illusio, he will watch you from the Mirror world to see if you can handle a job by yourself."

"Okay. Thank you for this opportunity." She spoke. She stayed for a bit before leaving the room not knowing if leaving immediately would be rude. "Well, well, well. Looks like you're going to be my partner for my next mission." Illuso said as he stood in the hallway mirror. "And? What's your deal anyway?"

"Nothing, nothing, just shocked that Risotto let a girl this young into an assassin team." Illuso stated. "You're the only girl in La Squadra, so it's hard to just not be curious about you."

"Well, I'll have you know I'm quite mature for my age. At least... That's what I've been told..." Ragno stated before changing the subject. "So, where's this mission going to be?" She asked.

"It's going to be in Naples, so we better start heading out now. Want to hop in the mirror realm? I mean, it's slower but we don't have to deal with foot traffic." Illuso asked before dragging the teen inside anyway. "Gah! Don't touch me!" She yelled. "Geez, alright fine. Anyway, let's just head there." The long-haired man stated before leading the way.

The two partners in crime just awkwardly walked a couple inches away from each other as they went to find their newest target. Ragno didn't feel like talking as they were on their way, even as Illusio tried to make at least a little small talk with the teen. "I mean, I got my stand when I joined. Our superior, Polpo is in charge of who gets in and who doesn't. He has this lighter that actually contains a Stand arrow if the light goes out."

"Uh huh." Ragno muttered once they made it to their location in Naples. "Well, we're here, got a description of the guy we need to take out?"

"Aw just some bum, Risotto says he's gotten too close to taking out the boss. Guess he's one policeman the drug division can't bribe." Illusio figured. "You ready for this? I'm gonna take you out of the Mirror world now."

Ragno just nodded. "I'll be in any reflective surface if you need me."

"Got it." She said as she was shoved out of the mirror realm. "He's a cop right? I think I can take him somewhere private." She thought as she approached.

"Um... 'Scusi, officer. There's been an accident and... And I don't know what to do..." She stated, using her best nervous voice to fake innocence. "An accident? Where?" The officer asked. "I... uh.... J-Just follow me, it's so gruesome..." She said leading him into an alley way.

"What the... There's nothing here. Do you think It's funny to waste the police's time?"

She didn't say anything, for he was in range. Caught Like a Fly shot a web and captured the cop, trapping him in a web.

"What the hell!?" The cop yelled. Thinking quickly, as to not draw any attention to herself she kicked the officer's head hard to knock him out long enough for the webs to digest him.

"Alright, job's done." She said softly, kicking one more time for good measure. Once she did that, Ragno turned heel and ran out of the alley and back to the mirror she came, knocking on it a little. "Hey this is a mirror, not a door. Anyway, I'm going to pull you in are you ready?"

She nodded and got pulled into the mirror realm. "Y'know, for your first time killing you did good."

"I mean, I do have experience. Ah! Uh I mean, I had to when I lost my parents. But I mean, I got used to using it on pretty much anyone that got too close to me. I mean, a girl's gotta be prepared, right?" She stammered as she returned to the Mirror world.

"Uh, yeah. Sure." Illusio agreed as they walked back towards La Squadra's hideout. He had to admit, he had never seen any teenager be this brutal before. The only comparison he could think of was Fugo from Bruno's division, even without his stand, the teen had an explosive temper that even Polpo dared not to set off. "I think Risotto would let you be on the team after that kill. No one would be able to determine who he once now that he's been reduced to a pile of bones."

Ragno didn't respond, although she did softly smile at the idea of being one of the crew. But what Illusio couldn't understand is why she was so eager to join La Squadra rather than the more popular drug ring. He figured she just had some pent-up anger she needed to let out via assassination jobs. "Risotto? We're back, and Ragno didn't leave a trace."

The leader of La Squadra looked up as they returned. "So, you have potential, Ragno."

"Thank you, uh... Should I refer to you as my leader or is okay if I just call you Risotto?" She asked. "Just call me Risotto, we call each other by our code names." The black-eyed man responded. "Well, you're on the team, I suppose, though we don't really have a room for you to stay in-"

"I'll sleep on the couch, uh, if you have one." Ragno stated. "Are you sure? Cause I have plenty of room in the mirror realm-"

"NO-! I uh... No that's fine. Don't worry about me, I can sleep on the couch." She stammered. "Damn, I was just suggesting." Illuso stated before returning to the mirror realm. "Um, so I should probably introduce you to everyone. You had your mission with Illuso, the man with the purple hair is Melone, the man with the buzz cut is Formaggio-"

"I know the blond is Prosciutto and the green haired guy is Pesci."

"Yes, However, there is one more member you haven't met. Ghiaccio. He's dealing with something right now. He's more irritable than the rest of the group. Also, he hates when people refer to Italian cities as the English version so if you're around him use the Italian wording." Risotto explained. "Wow, he seems odd." She thought.

"That's just who he is, we can't explain it but he tends to explode whenever he hears someone saying Venice instea-"

"It's Venezia!" A voice snapped from the room next door. Ragno guessed this must be Ghiaccio. A man with bright blue hair and red glasses slammed the door open, stomping towards the new stand user. "So, this is the new recruit? I guess that means Melone is no longer the youngest here."

"Yes, this is Ragno. Her stand can dissolve any bodies that need disposing of. Much like how a spider will dissolve its prey and then drink from it." Risotto explained. "I see you've returned earlier than expected. The target wasn't a big issue?"

"No, and luckily he was sensitive to extreme cold so White Album came in real handy." Ghiaccio remarked. "So why do we have this little girl joining us? I thought this was adult's work?"

"Excuse me?! I'm sixteen years old here." Ragno snapped.

"Do you think I'm stupid?! SixTEEN has TEEN in it, dumbass! That's not an adult! Don't act all tough because I'm saying the truth!" The blue haired stand user shouted. Not taking this she summoned Caught Like a Fly. "Spiders can survive in subzero temperatures so even if you hit me with White Album my stand will still be resilient." She stated.

Before Ghiaccio could even say anything, she hit him with a web. "What the hell!?"

"Shouldn't have started it. Anyway, I'm going to lock you in your room so you can calm down or something." She spoke, using her stand to carry Ghiaccio. "The doors lock from the inside, not the outside." Risotto stated. "Oh... well, I'll think of something."

Once Ragno had dragged Ghiaccio to his room, she started to invade his privacy because just felt like it would be fair. "Hey! Stop looking through my things- AGH!" Ghiaccio yelled, the digestion starting. "Calm down, I'll be quick."

She didn't count on Ghiaccio's fury being enough for him to send ice shards through the cocoon in an attempt to break out. He was already freezing the digestive juices that the cocoon was filling up with, Ragno didn't count on this happening. As the cocoon was being torn apart, Ragno could feel her own insides turn and churn. "Gah! So if the cocoon is damaged, it hurts me too?" She thought.

She had no choice but to recall her stand and let Ghiaccio out before she was torn apart inside out. "Yes, any damage your stand receives will be relayed back onto you. There only a few exceptions, apparently there was once a stand made entirely of stand, but no one could find the user." Ghiaccio coughed once he was finally out. He was covered in burns from the digestive acids and cuts from the ice shards he used to try and break out.

He was gasping for air before he realized Ragno was holding his personal journal. "Gah! You put that down right now!!" He snapped, grabbing it back.

"H-hey! All I know is you have a crush on Melone." Ragno grumbled.

"Grr... Don't tell him, or I will literally kill you." He said, not yelling for once but yet was even more intimidating. "Alright I won't. Well, at least I worry about you doing anything to me, y'know other than killing me if I say anything."

"Why would you have to-"

"Oh no its nothing." She said simply realizing she said too much. "... Did you think I'd want to touch you like that?! That's fucking gross, I'd never! I mean, even if I liked women, you're way too young! You're like 8 years younger than me, not to mention you're a minor!" Ghiaccio stated loudly.

"Ah..." She said. "I respect you, Ghiaccio... You wouldn't take advantage of me... You wouldn't hurt me unless it was absolutely necessary..." She stated, backing to the door, planning to leave. "What the hell? Why is she talking like that. It's weird." Ghiaccio thought as he watched the girl leave.

However, their conversation wasn't private, since Illuso, being the privacy invading freak he was, was watching them through Ghiaccio's mirror. "So Ghiaccio actually has a crush on Melone... Heh, Formaggio owes me 20 lira." He thought.

However he remembered what Ragno told him too. "And that must be why she didn't want me touching her. I have a feeling this has something to do with her past." He thought as he returned to tell Risotto what he overheard. "So Ghiaccio's got the hots for you, Melone." He told the purple haired assassin.

"Oh me? I never thought he'd like me of all people erm... I don't know what to say, well did you find out anything else besides his crush?" Melone asked.

"Well, it turns out that new girl, Ragno thinks we'd take advantage of her."

This was news to all of them, the nature of her stand was to kill someone as painfully as possible. "It may have formed from the intense hatred she felt when something like that happened to her before. It makes me wonder if she used it to take vengeance on anyone." Risotto thought.

"We better not bring it up, Ghiaccio looks like he was dropped into a vat of acid. Must have been Caught Like a Fly."

"It was, she dragged Ghiaccio to his room using it. Anyway, we shouldn't treat her differently because of this, nor should we force her to explain herself." Risotto stated. "Um, but why? Wouldn't it help if we talked to her about her problems?" Pesci asked. "Not really, she's the only female here so us, males, making her talk would probably not end well." Melone commented.

And just as he said that Ragno came downstairs, planning to get a glass of water. However, she noticed they were staring at her. "Uh is something wrong?" She asked. "Um... No."

She wasn't buying it, but not wanting to engage decided to just get her water. "I know we shouldn't ask, but I want to help her. She probably is going through something if she thinks we'd do something to her." Pesci thought.

"Didn't you hear Risotto? It won't be a good idea. Just leave her be."

But the green-hair assassin still wasn't sure leaving her with her emotions would be good. So, he thought about it and decided to go ask her anyway, since he was the least threatening looking one of the team, he thought she would have an easier time talking to him.

"Hey, Ragno, are you okay?"

"I mean, Ghiaccio threatened to kill me over his diary but other than that yeah. Why do ask?" She said sipping some water.

"Well, I just thought you may have felt a bit alone as the only woman on the team. Well girl, but I think you get what I'm getting at. Um, I think. Am I going too fast for you?"

Ragno cocked her head. "Uh, I think? Wait, did you overhear my conversation with Ghiaccio?!" She growled, readying her stand to cocoon up the green haired man.

"H-hey! I'm not going to hurt you. I mean, I think all of us were hurt at some point until we found Passione. Ghiaccio has his pent-up frustrations, Prosciutto and I needed some way to support each other and any place to find work denied them. We just think we should get to know each other better, that way we fully have each other's backs. Does that make sense?"

Ragno loosened up, but still kept Caught Like a Fly at the standby just in case. "Well, I guess. I lived alone for a good part of my life; Both of my parents worked, well, when they were alive, obviously. I would have been dead meat if it wasn't for my stand. I am grateful for it in a lot of ways actually." She admitted.

"I see. Well, my stand, Little Feet I found can be used to turn small crumbs into larger portions of food if I grow while holding onto them. That way we have more than enough to eat." Formaggio explained. "It's mostly bread and stuff, but if we make enough, we treat ourselves to pizza and coffee. Maybe you can join us some time when that happens?"

"Erm... I guess I could."

"Great, y'know, we could have like a vent session where we vent our problems and past trauma, you won't believe the kind of stuff these guys deal with." Illuso said as he leaned against the counter. "I don't know about that, but I mean, I guess?"

"Um, let's do some simple bonding right now, just to get to know each other better. What's your favorite animal?" Melone asked as if it wasn't obvious. "Spiders, I love them. They're small but powerful. Their webs are stronger than steal, well, at least in the terms of tensile strength." She started before rambling on about spider facts.

"Wow, you know a lot about them." Pesci stated. "Well, of course, I feel a personal connection to them, when I was locked in my room, I'd be calm knowing I wasn't alone since there was a spider always in my room." She stated.

"You were locked in your room?"

"Yeah, my dad thought it would be a good punishment for whenever I failed in school. That's why I tried to lock Ghiaccio in his room when I was mad at him." She stated. "And that wasn't even the worst of it."

She paused realizing what she said. "Relax, we're not gonna force it out of you. If you don't feel comfortable with talkin' about you don't have to." Formaggio commented.

"You won't?"

Risotto shook his head. "Not until you're fully ready to bring up your past. Until then we will respect your privacy and only ask questions if necessary." He told her.

"Oh.. Umm.. I don't know what to say." Ragno had to admit, she never met anyone this supportive before, at least not since her mother. Just thinking about her made the teen girl shake. "I... I dont know.."

The group backed away, not wanting to crowd her in case of a meltdown. "Ragno?"

"Mama... Why did he take you.." She mumbled, hiding her head under her hands. The rest of La Squadra knew now what she was so worried about. Seeing her in this state was disheartening, Risotto finally stood up, placing a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright. We're here."

She kept holding her head as she mumbled about her mother more. "Ragno?"

"Gah!! Sorry... I... I used my stand before, right when I had access to it. I knew exactly who deserved it."

-flashback-

It was a year ago, right after she was stabbed by the arrow in the museum. She sat alone at the kitchen table, both of her parents were at work so she had to cook for herself. However, her father came home early. "There you are~ How's my baby girl~" He was drunk, the smell of alcohol strong on his breath.

"A-Ah! P-Padre you're home early...!" She squeaked, dropping her piece of toast. "Yeah, they fired me, which sucked... I know what would make me feel better~ Be a good girl and let daddy touch you okay~?"

Ragno froze, not being able to move as her father groped her, even in her more sensitive areas. "Good girl~ Now get on the counter for daddy~ I've had a real rough day and your ma's not here~"

She couldn't even protest, she was picked up by the waist and set on the counter, laying on her back. "N... No! Stop!" She yelled, though it only came out as a whine. "... Oh...? You think that'll stop me.... Bad girl... Now I'm not gonna wear protection~"

Just as he went to lower her panties, the door opened. It was her mother. "Demetrio! Get off our daughter!" The woman shouted, pushing her husband away from the shuttering teen. "What the hell?! Why are you angry now?!"

Being drunk, and unreasonable, he grabbed a knife from the counter and stabbed his wife, killing her instantly. "M... Mama..." She stammered watching her mother bleed out.

Her fear turned into rage, how could her father do this? How could he feel fine with anything he just did!?  Ragno could feel some sort of energy surrounding her as she stood up, being fueled by her anger at her mother's murder. An anthropomorphic spider formed before her very eyes, its legs twitching as it stared back at Ragno. "Uh... What are you?" She mumbled.

The spider didn't respond, it then turned to Ragno's father, forming a ball of silk in its arm. It seemed to have sensed her anger, skittering right up to him and getting to work. Ragno watched and approached with a knife as her new stand wrapped up her mother's killer in a silk cocoon, watching as he squirmed and struggled to break free from his prison.

As he squirmed, the cocoon filled up with acid. Ragno watched it intently, thinking that at any point that her father could break out. Thankfully for her, that never came to be. The cocoon did eventually dissolve, leaving nothing but a pile of bones and some torn clothes. "So, you do anything I say?" She asked her stand.

The spider nodded, skittering over to stand by her side. "I see, you have come here to become my guardian of sorts. That's the only explanation I can think of as to why you're here." She replied. "But what do I do now? I can't just stay here by myself..."

She would have to fend for herself from now on.

With that, knowing she had to flee the scene, she packed a few of her belongings and ran from the home. She spends months on the street, eating out of dumpsters and living in various alleys until she met the two men from La Squadra.

-End of Flashback-

The rest of La Squadra looked at her after she explained her painful backstory. "You... Your father did that to you? And you were 15?" Melone asked, a little disturbed. "Yeah... I was used to the grabbing but I didn't think he'd do all that..."

"That's rough, you shouldn't have to deal with that. And don't worry, we won't treat you like that, mainly since we're like, all gay. Except Pesci he doesn't like sex at all." Illuso stated, causing the men to look at him. "Illuso, what the fuck?" Prosciutto asked, peeved he'd say that.

"Hey I mean it'll insure her that we won't touch her like that cause like, we wouldn't be interested."

"... I guess? Anyway, Ragno we won't do that to you, nor let anyone do that to you, or at least we'll try, but knowing this job it might not be possible to always to be with you." Risotto stated.

"D-don't worry, I know how to take care of myself. I didn't get this far without knowing how to fight." Ragno insisted. "I knew the risks about joining, and I also knew I just had to join, to take out anyone and be rewarded for it."

The adults in the room didn't know how to respond, but they could tell she was going to need a little extra help. "Well umm. If you ever need anything, we're here for you." Was all Illusio responded with. "After that job, how about we take it easy for a bit and get some pizza?"

"Pizza? I guess I am a bit hungry." Ragno couldn't tell them that she hasn't had a full meal in over a year.

"Alright, let's go. Oh wait we need to get Ghiaccio in on this, he'd be a whiny bitch if we don't include him." Illuso stated. "I'll get him-"

"Actually, I'll get him." Melone stated, thinking he could confront Ghiaccio about his feelings. Illuso knew exactly what Melone was trying to do. "Heh, well, alright, though be quick about it yeah? We don't want to wait for you two because you're making love."

With a blush on his face the purple haired stand user made his way to Ghiaccio's room. "Ghiaccio, you in there? We're heading out to get pizza, do you want to come too?" He asked, gently knocking on the blue haired assassin's door.

"Oh uh, yeah, hold on a second." Ghiaccio said, locking his diary before going to the door. Noticing the blush on his co-worker's face, he thought something was up. "Uh, are you okay?"

"Well... Do you like me?" Melone asked, causing Ghiaccio to immediatly blush hard. "Huh? What do you mean by that? As in Like like or like as in love? Why are you even asking-" Ghiaccio rambled before realizing something. "Goddammit did Illuso spy on my!? I knew I should have covered my mirror so he wouldn't be able to come in!"

"Ghia calm down. I like you too."

"You uh... You do?" He stammered. "But uh, I thought you wouldn't like my constant anger outbursts or that I keep getting angry whenever someone uses the English versions of Italian words."

Melone held his shoulder. "I was attracted to you for your dedication to Passione, how you were always there to make sure the job gets done. And your sense of fashion I find quite attractive too. You rock the red glasses and striped pants." He admitted.

"Oh um... I... I don't know what to say. No one ever complimented my physical appearance before. I find you very attractive too. Like, your soft hair, your eyes. Umm, it's all too lovely for words." Ghiaccio mumbled.

The two assassins looked each other in the eye, then Melone made the first move. He kissed Ghiaccio on the nose and purred. "Once we get back, how about we cuddle on the couch and watch a film?"

"Uh, yeah. I'd like that."

Ragno stood back as she watched the couple interact. It was clear she had a very bizarre new family, but one she would soon get used to. But for now, it was time for pizza and relaxation. "At the very least, I now have people I can trust."
