Chapter 15
Does anyone have a wand handy? I wanna make an unbreakable vow.
Person: *Pulls out wand* Do you swear that you will finish this story?
Me: I do.
Person: Will you write the next book?
Me: I will.
Person: And if you can't, will let someone you trust finish for you?
Me: I will.
*Bands dissolve*
YAY! I SHALL FINISH THEE STORY!
I sat in a compartment on the Hogwarts train with Hermione. I was nervous.
"Chill, Jinx. The train's not gonna crash." She joked.
"I know, it's not that." I said. "My parents don't know I'm in Gryffindor. They think I'm in Slytherin."
Hermione's eyes widened. "Why haven't you told them?"
"I'm scared." I whispered. "They might... disown me or.... kill me."
"I doubt that." Hermione said.
"You don't know them like I do, Hermione!" I said. I lowered my voice. "They used to be supporters of You-Know-Who."
Hermione looked more shocked than she did when she found out Snape found a grammer error in her essay.
"Now you see why I'm going home." I said. "They'll find out sometime."
Hermione was speechless.
When the train got to King's Cross, I told Hermione that if I show up at her house, she should assume I've been disowned, and went to find Draco.
He was already with my parents.
"Where have you been?" My mom asked, me, giving me a hug.
"Saying goodbye to a friend." I said casuallly.
"And who might that be?" Father asked.
"Hermione Granger." I said. No sense waiting. I could get right on a train and be out of their lives. Or catch up with Hermione's family.
"I've never heard of the Grangers." Father said.
"Because they're muggles." I said. I pulled my robes out of my trunk. "I was sorted into Gryffindor. I didn't know how to tell you guys."
My parents were shocked.
"You're hanging out with mudbloods?!?" My mother screeched.
"Yeah. I am." I said.
Whatever happens, happens. I thought.
"Jessica.... We are very disappointed in you." Father said.
"Don't call her Jessica, father." Draco called. "Everyone calls her Jinx nowadays."
"Jinx?"
"Hey, I've been trying to get you to call me that for years now." I said, holding up my hands.
"So... what are we going to do with her?" Mother asked.
"Well, we can't have a blood-traitor in the family. It would give us a bad name." Father mused.
"What if we just hide her away? Lock her in her room." Mother said.
"That will do for now...."
"People will notice her absence." Draco noted.
"We will just change their memories." My father said aimlessly.
And so, we went home and I was locked in my room, my wand tooken away. I laid on my bed.
I needed to reach Hermione, Ron, Harry, Dumbledor, or even McGonagall. I didn't have an owl of my own. I had an idea.
I rushed to my large wardrobe and threw it open. I dug through it, until I found a little messanger bird. It was tiny. I used it to talk to a penpal in France when I was seven, but my parents found out and made me swear I would never talk to anyone I didn't know ever again. I had shoved it into the back of my wardrobe and forgot about it, until now. I quickly jotted down a note.
Dear Harry,
DUDE! HELP! My parents locked me in my room and took away my wand! You gotta save me! Send me your reply with this thing, Hedwig won't fit through the hole I'm about to break in my window. It knows my address. Just tell it to go home.
Love, GET-ME-THE-HELL-OUT-OF-HERE-JINX
I tied it to the little metal birds leg and told it Hogwart's address. I took a breath and punched my window as hard as I could.
The glass shattered and cut my hand. It was bleeding badly, but I had to send this bird if I ever wanted to get out of here.
I launched the bird and watched it fly away. All I could do now is wait.
And fix my hand.
I grabbed mother's old Slytherin robes and ripped a strip off and wrapped my hand. Blood was splattered on my floor. It was also covered with glass, and the contents of m y closet. I sighed.
I heard my door slowly unlock. catiously turned around slowly to see Draco enter my room.
He saw me, covered in blood, glass scattered on my floor, and looked at me like I was crazy.
"What the hell are you doing?" He asked me.
"Trying to get out of here." I said. "Hey, tonight when Mother and Father are asleep you could come up here and break me out!"
"I could." Draco said. "But I can't. I'm sorry Jinx, but this is all I can do for you."
He handed me the tens bags he had been carrying.
"God, what is in these?" I opened one and saw thousands of galleons, sickles, and knuts.
"That should be enough to last you the rest of your life." He told me. He handed me a long black box. "Your wand. Mom and Dad have placed a charm on your room, so even if I tried to break you out, I wouldn't be able to do it."
"That's it?" I said. "You give me money and my wand, and I might never get out of here?"
He frowned. "I never thought of that. Well, see you back at Hogwarts, hopefully. Good luck."
And my twin brother left my room. I sighed and collasped on my bed.
I soon fell alseep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke to a something poking my face. I opened my eyes, annoyed, to find that Harry's reply had come. I opened it excitedly.
Dear Jinx,
Are you okay? We've told Dumbledore and sent Hedwig to Hermione. Someone should be coming to get you out of there. Hang in there.
Harry
Great. Now where's this supposed rescue team?
I decided to send a reply.
Harry,
I'm bored out of my mind. They haven't given me any food or water, so if I\m not rescued soon, I'm going to die of dehydration and hunger. If I don't die of boredom first.
So how's your holidays going? Find anything on ol' Nicky Flamel? How's Ron? The twins? Percy? (Yes, I'm that desperate.)
My hand is cut really bad, so there's another reason to get me out of here. Basically, if you ever want to see me alive again, get me out of here.
Jinx
PS - GET ME OUT OF HERE!
I sent the letter.
Something to do...
My thirst was demanding now. I could hardly ignore it.
I decided to clean while I waited for my rescue. I heard something tapping on my window. I turned. An owl!
I raced over. I removed the letter. It was difficult, because the plane I smashed was small and the owl couldn't fit through and I couldn't fit both my hands so the owl was flapping around while I tried to untie the letter with one hand AND prevent it from falling. But I got it after about ten mintues.
I unfolded the letter and began to read.
Dear Miss Malfoy,
Your friends have alerted me about your situation. Alastor Moody, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and I will arrive tonight to free you from your prison.
Albus Dumbledore
I sighed and laid back down on my bed. Would I make it to tongiht?
I kept pondering over this until I fell asleep again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke to a sudden knock on my window. I looked out to see four brromsticks and three men. I immediately recognized Dumbledore. I met Kingsley years ago when I went to work with father one day. I had heard a lot about Mad-Eye Moody from father. Accorrding to him, Mad-Eye is the craziest old bat of them all.
I ran over with glee.
"You're here!" I cried.
"Yes, Jessica. Now I need you to back away from the window. I'm going to blow it up." Dumbledore said. I nodded and hid behind my dresser. A spark shot from Dumbledore's wand and hit my window. It shattered into a million pieces. I grabbed my trunk and headed to the window. They levitated my trunk and moved the broom over so I could climb on.
I clambered on and we zoomed into the night towards Hogwarts. I resisted the erge to turn around and yell, "SEE YA SUCKERS!"
