Chapter 2

~No one's P.O.V.~

Mark watched his little sister calmly eat her cereal.  He wasn't really hungry, so he just played around with his spoon.  There was a pit in his stomach, and a familiar feeling of guilt started to ebb inside him.  His father noticed his depressed mood.  "Don't worry, we'll find it later," whispered his Father to Mark.  He slowly nodded and stirred his now soggy cereal.

"Onii-san?" He snapped out of his daze and looked up see his little sister frowning at him.  "You alright?"

"I'm fine Jessie," he lied, plastering on a fake smile. In actuality, he was  worried about something Father had told him yesterday. He had told him that her sister's power was soon going to be active. Being six, he was not supposed to understand that statement, but he did, and it filled him with dread. It had been a year since..the tragic event, and he vowed to protect and be there for his sister since then. Another reason there was a pit of dread in his stomach is because his little sister was only three years old. He glanced over to her. The young ravenhead was eating her cereal just like any three-year-old. The only difference could be that she was doing it with great ease, but that only showed that she was a fast learner, nothing else. How could she be powerful? Well..he wouldn't believe it, if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes.

"Hey Father, when are we allowed to join Sabertooth?" Jessie asked, pulling her brother back into reality. She had a habit of asking every morning, even if she knew that her efforts were fruitless.  Father sighed. And every time, he has had to refuse; it's gotten quite annoying for him sometimes, but he knew that she was only eager, and he should feel proud, not anxious. Yet, that was what he felt every now and then.

"Like I've always said, not until you're eleven," he answered with a sigh. Jessie puffed out her cheeks and opened her mouth to say something, when a loud noise abruptly cut her off.

        "KABOOOM!!!!"

The ground rumbled, knocking both Mark's and Jessie's cereal off the table.  "F-Father?!" Mark stammered, shocked.  "W-what's happening??"  Suddenly, two people busted through the door, ultimately destroying it. One of them had spiky red-orange hair that was paired with dark blue eyes. The other had sunglasses over his eyes as well as a green mohawk.

"Sorry for barging in, but we'll be taking the multi magic mage now," the one with spiky orange hair announced with arrogance.  Mark immediately and instinctively stood in front of Jessie while his father stood in front of them.

"You're not harming my children," he growled, magic starting to envelop him. His entire body started to glow with his magic and he yelled, "Transformation magic: Wolf!" Neither Mark nor Jessie had ever seen their father use his magic before, and their childlike eyes widened with awe and fear as they watched.  A magic circle appeared around their father, and a cloud of smoke engulfed his figure.

When it dispersed, a dark brown wolf appeared in place of their father.  It sprinted towards the two, tackling the spiky orange haired one with great speed.  At first, he was surprised, but after a couple seconds was able to push the big wolf away from him. The wolf skidded across the floor, but was able to get up with ease. The wolf snarled, showing off its canine-like teeth. The redheaded man smirked in amusement.

"Oh, what's wrong there? Doggy doesn't like getting pushed around?" he mocked. The animal snarled again and bolted forward once more. The man didn't seem to care and did not move from his spot. Without hesitation, Mark and Jessie's father leaped into the air. He was just about to land an attack on the spiky redheaded man, but the wolf found himself being pulled back down from the air.

"Whoa there!" The wolf let out a yelp when he slammed into the ground, hard. The two kids flinched when the ground rumbled from the impact. Mark slowly moved him and his sister back, but was unable to anything more. He was scared out of his mind, but his first and foremost mission was to protect his little sister.

Going back to the fight, the children's father glanced down at his paws to see glowing white chains clamped onto his legs. "Not so mobile now, huh 'doggy'?" the other kidnapper, the man who sunglasses and a green mohawk, teased him. He pulled on the chains, making the wolf let out a whimper as he was dragged through the floor. The friction created as a result burned his rough skin, even with his coat of fur. The mohawked man let out a cackle as he lifted the chain and used its momentum to slam the wolf on to the wall. The chains drooped, but did not disappear as the animal it was clamped on to limply fell to the ground. Unable to continue casting the spell, the wolf reverted back to their father.  'No one's ever beaten me that fast... Who are these people?' he thought to himself as he laid on the floor. Scratches from being dragged across the floor covered over half his body, and his head throbbed from his impact with the wall. The green-eyed man tried to stand back up, but his arms buckled and he cringed in pain when he tried to apply pressure onto it. 'God damnit,' he cursed when he realized that his vision was filled with growing black spots. This sort of thing had been happening to him for a couple weeks now, but it can't happen now of all times.

Meanwhile, his children stared at their father, fear now gleaming in their eyes.  Mark hugged Jessie's shaking body, still determined to protect her at all costs.

"F-Father.." Jessie whispered shakily. She had been under the impression that her father was the strongest Mage there was. He had to be, right? Since, he was the Master of a great Mage guild..

"That's actually a very powerful magic. Too bad you've gone rusty," the redheaded man smirked.  "Now, I'll be taking your children there." He gestured for the man on his right.  He nodded as a response and lifted up his left arm, revealing a green snake tattoo up the entirety of his arm. Another magic circle was conjured, and the two siblings started to quiver in fear. Their father's eyes grew wide with alarm and he desperately tried to get back up, but failed to once more.

"N-no.." was all he could manage to say. Darkness continued to creep into his vision, but he couldn't, couldn't lose consciousness. He had to save them, he had to. He fruitlessly lifted an arm up in a pathetic attempt to somehow save his kids.

Glowing chains appeared from the magic circle and clamped onto Jessie and Mark's wrists. The two screamed and held onto each other as their chains started to pull them towards the two people. They hopelessly held on for their dear lives, but the pull was too strong for a six and three-year-old. Both of their grips slipped and they were thrown towards their kidnappers from the momentum. The red-orange-haired man took ahold of Jessie, while the mohawked one took Mark.

"Thanks for your cooperation," the mohawked man snickered before turning to his partner. "Now get us out of here Hornet."

"Like you tell me what to do," the redheaded man, apparently named Hornet, slapped the back of his comrade's head with disgust. Then, he snapped his fingers, and they disappeared in the blink of the eye.

"JESSIE!  MARK!!" their father yelled, frustrated tears that had built up in his green eyes now falling to the rubble around him. He gritted his teeth and looked to the ground as he started to feel lightheaded. "No..I've, failed.." His voice cracked and was getting weaker as tears started streaming down his cheeks and dripped onto the floor of his wrecked and empty home.  "I'm so sorry Caesar..I've failed.." The whole world started to spin and his vision was almost completely covered in darkness, "as..a..fa..ther..." And then then everything turned a pitch black for the Master of Sabertooth.
