Chapter 11: Who is Shade?
Kristine's POV
"OMG OMG! We are so dead!" I yelled, running back into the house.
"Kristine!" Kristen exclaimed. "Keep your voice down!"
"What's wrong?" Mom asked.
"I.... Saw... Sabrina!" I answered.
"Did she spy on us?!" Eliza asked with a worried face.
"I knew it, I knew it! Shade came here, seemed harmless, but there was another person spying on us!" Uncle Jack shouted. "See? I told you we couldn't trust him!"
"Wait, wait, wait, did she look like she was spying on us in the first place?" Harold asked.
"Well... Not exactly, I can't tell." I replied. "I'm no expert, but I think she wasn't spying. She just happened to pass by."
"There's hope then?" Jessica guessed. "Come on, we can trust Shade, right?"
"NO." Uncle Jack said firmly.
"Of course we can!" Jenna and Elijah said at the same time.
"Dang, if only you brought your voice recorder with you to find out the truth." Kristen whispered to me.
"Yeah." I sighed. "But unfortunately, I didn't."
"Is Shade and Sabrina still out thee?" Henry turned to me.
"They already began walking." I replied. "Home I guess."
"So... What do we do?" Dad asked. "Should we follow those two?"
"But we don't want to alarm the enemy." Uncle Eugene argued. "Jack, as much as you want to finish Pitch off once and for all, he too wants to finish you off." He said.
"I think we just need to lay low for now." Aunty Elsa suggested.
"I agree, we need to stay calm, don't take actions based on emotions." Aunty Merida added.
"Let's go somewhere else to discuss?" Harold asked. "We just walk out quietly?"
One by one, we slowly walked out. Eliza sighed and said, "Why did it have to be us? Why did WE have to be the targets of Pitch Black?! Why did our parents and us have to get involved so badly?"
"Enough already." Elijah cut in.
"Grumbling, moaning, complaining about it won't help this problem, kay?!" Harold crossed his arms.
"Think positive." Jenna pleaded.
"Ok, I'm positive that we are doomed." I joked.
"Fine, think negative then." Jenna giggled.
"What are you?" Kristen burst out laughing. "Positive, negative?"
Eliza created small ice sculptures. I levitated one of them to have a closer look. "Isn't that Shade?" Henry asked.
"And Sabrina?" Jessica asked.
"And us?" I added.
"Ten ice sculptures, for what?" Elijah asked. "They are just sculptures of us, Sabrina and Shade."
"It's called, planning." Eliza crossed her arms. "Oh and who knows how Pitch looks like?"
"Do we look like we know?!" I snapped.
"Fine, Elijah, make sculptures of our parents." Eliza ordered.
"Why me?!" Elijah protested.
"Lazy brother." Eliza rolled her eyes.
"Do. Not. Argue." Kristen said. "We have a problem over here and we don't have time to argue!"
"What else then?!" Harold asked.
I walked over to the gate. "Kristine, where are you going?" Jessica asked.
"To find Shade." I simply replied. "I need to know the truth."
"But if you find out where he lives, Sabrina and Pitch will be there as well!" Eliza said.
"I know, thanks for your concern, I know how to defend myself." I sighed.
"Kristine," Kristen darted to me, "You can't go! It could be a trap! Besides, the enemy is a murderer!"
"But I need to know whether Shade is a true friend or not!" I argued.
"Even if you ask him, he could just tell a lie to you." Elijah said.
"Oh why oh why..." Jessica sighed.
"You know," Henry started. "All this could have been solved if Shade and Sabrina didn't know us at all in the first place!"
"Yeah, if they asked someone else for the directions!" Jenna agreed.
"Wouldn't all this have been better if we didn't know we were being watched?" Elijah asked.
"That might have been better, but that would just leave us not knowing we are in danger." Eliza replied. "And that, is worse."
"If Shade just didn't have that sister, this would be much better." Kristen sighed.
"That witch." Harold scoffed.
I sat down on the grass and groaned. This is too much for me. I just wish none of this had happened. If our parents' enemy, Pitch Black changed after prison, all these problems would be gone. We don't have to worry about Pitch, we never met Shade or Sabrina, no dilemmas, just living normally.
"Come on, cheer up." Kristen sat next to me and lifted up an ice sculpture. It was Shade. I totally lost it.
"Who is Shade then?!" I snapped. "Is he our friend, or our enemy?"
"Enemy." Henry, Jenna, Eliza and Kristen said.
"Friend." Elijah, Jessica and Harold said.
I looked at all of them in disbelief. All of you got my mind spinning round and round, hanging upside down. Oh Shade, who are you?
