Chapter 47
Sarah's POV:
Mom and Dad got married six months ago which is great because now I can always have them around simultaneously. We live in this nice-sized house. It has four floors, three bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a study, a studio area, my bedroom, the guest room, the Master bedroom where Mom and Dad sleep, the spare room, the sunroom, another kitchen, and the basement. There is no attic. There is also a shed, a tire swing, and a swimming pool out back. There is patio furniture and a grill too.
The house is adorned with yellow shutters, front, back, and side yellow doors, and black window trim. There is plenty of room for us and my baby sister on the way. I am told her room will be in the spare room, only two doors from mine.
I can't wait to meet her in person. I hope she has red hair like Dad's cause that would be something special. Mom and Dad tell me she will be special no matter how she looks, and I suppose they are right.
I often wonder what they would have done if I hadn't come along when I did. I smile.
I feel my family is complete now. Grandpa lives five miles from our new house, but only a few minutes' drive from Chole's old place and Nathaniel's old home.
I am glad that they are together now and I am sure my sister will be grateful too.
I wonder what they will name here. I know they are still thinking about names, but I know she could use a proper name since she will be the child of Nathaniel and Chole Kurtzberg. I don't think any name will do. It must stand out completely as hers. I hear that my parents went somewhere to have my last name changed from Bougerious to Kurtzberg. I am not sure why they bothered, perhaps they thought it sounded better since I am to be the big sister to the baby.
I smiled at them. Mom is glowing and Dad says it is because of the baby.
I know the baby is due in a few months. It is a good thing, I am here then, so I can make sure her room looks grand. I helped Dad paint her room lime green and yellow. I laugh because I think her room looks like lime and lemon sherbert. She also has a crib that is painted yellow, lime sheets, a lemon and lime two-toned quilt, a yellow chair, a lime rocking chair, and a few toys.
I think her room is coming along nicely. I snap a photo of it with Dad's camera. He permitted me to borrow it.
I enter the living room where Dad sits beside Mom on the couch. They look rather cozy. I snap a photo of them. They take one of all three of us together.
I had Mom a box of Kleenex, Dad the bowl of popcorn from off the kitchen counter where he left it, and I fixed them some water. I sit on the other side of Dad, carefully placing the water glasses on the coasters.
Mom wears a blue shirt, light yellow pants, and no shoes. Her hair is up in a ponytail held back with a light blue hair tie and yellow ribbon. Dad wears black jeans and a red shirt. Again there are no shoes. I wear a black and white striped pair of shorts, a black T-shirt that says "Zebras rock" across the front with a picture of a zebra playing the guitar, and white sandals.
I share some of the popcorn and enjoy the movie with my parents. Ah, this family time sure is nice. I hope we can have more days like this one before and after she is born.
I smile. I see Mom doze off with her head on Dad's shoulder. How cute, I thought. I snapped another photo. Then, I put the cap back on the lens cap and turned the camera off.
After I finished my fair share of the popcorn, I drank water, washed my hands, and started to draw a new portrait. It shows a nice sunset, Dad standing with his arms around Mom, me standing beside them, and a dog sitting at my feet. There is a small bundle in Mom's arms wrapped up in a yellow and pink striped blanket, my sister is taking a nap.
I smile. I am glad I captured a moment in time I could see in the future with all four of us sometime after she arrived. I know she will be here soon, I can sense it.
I hear my anklet beep and see it start to glow. I go to my bathroom to transform.
I can hear Dad say something along the lines of "right now? Why?" I can tell he seems frustrated about something. I hear Mom snoring. I laugh.
I finish transforming and head out the side door, pulling it closed behind me and locking it.
I arrive at the scene to see Carapace, Ladybug, and Chat Noir are there. I know Carapace is not thrilled to be here. I hear him mutter something under his breath about wanting to be home with his wife and five children. That is right his and Rena's fifth baby was born healthy a few months ago and is named Rosa Lee Lahaffe. Awe, I think that is an adorable name.
I wonder if my sis will get along with Rena and Carapace's child. I suppose anything is possible. I also noticed Ladybug looks a bit plump. Chat Noir is standing guard as if he worries about her. I don't blame him because she is having a baby. I am sure of it as sure as I am Mom is asleep on the couch.
I see Rooster King arrive. He says something under his breath about double checking the door was locked to keep his wife safe. I smile. I did not know he was married.
I fight alongside Chat Noir, Ladybug, Carapace, and Rooster King. "Promise me, you will sit the next one out," Chat says to Ladybug. "I will, but you will have to be extra careful to stay safe." She says.
I smile glad those two are at an understanding. I do not see Queen Bee, so I figure she is either late or got caught up with something.
I continue to fight. I see Chat Noir cataclysm the akumantized objects. Ladybug purifies them.
I zap the villains and they pass out. Rooster King crows at the last villain and he screams. The akuma flies free, but I catch it this time with my grabber and Ladybug purifies it.
"Miraculous Ladybug! Miraculous Kid Zebra!" Ladybug and I call out together.
We fist bump, and Carapace goes home. I run off in the opposite direction with Rooster King on my tail I enter a recycling bin and detransform. I make sure to feed Zeebee before I head back home.
I entered the house and saw Mom waking from her nap. Dad is holding her hand.
"Where were you?" Dad asks me. "I went for a walk, "I say. "In the rain?" He asks since it started to rain now. "It was not raining when I left on it, but it is now," I say.
"I see, well, take off your wet shoes and leave them by the door to dry," He says. I do as he tells me.
I am glad he was too upset with me since I couldn't tell him the truth about what I was up to. It must remain a secret. I wondered Ladybug and Chat, Carapace and Rena, Queen Bee, and Rooster King knew each other's identities. Not the group as a whole but as the individuals.
I went to my room and drew some more. I was glad no more akumas showed up today. The first battle was big already, and I could tell Dad was relieved too. If I had to guess I would say, Dad is Rooster King. I knew that was too crazy to be real. There was no way the other heroes, Rooster King and Queen Bee could be under the same roof as me, was there?
